Add your stats Viroids (or don't bother). I feel like there's something I'm supposed to write here but don't know what it is... Confused

Morning viroids.

My leaky problem seems to be a nighttime thing Sad and one I can definitely live without.

We've decided to stop with ready made formula. It's extortionate. Instead we're using some vouchers we got for B to buy a perfect prep machine. He's going to be on formula for quite some time and we could sell it if we stop needing it.

Hope the christening goes ok popz I can imagine the stress with a crawler. My nephew is the same and you can't contain him!

purplewhale · 20/09/2015 11:58

deeply we get that scream too, it's awful. I'm thinking of trying different bottles

wil hope she starts sleeping soon. That sounds rough

Toast85 · 20/09/2015 12:38

Afternoon all.
dulcet lovely that would be ace but I was transferred to another hospital out of the county the week before she arrived as our local hospital had no neonatal/SCBU cots available and they didn't want me there just in case they needed to deliver MelbaToast in a hurry. Just as well, as it turned out that they did need to get her out ASAP and it would have been awful for her to be delivered and transferred away immediately, at least this way I've only ever been as far as a corridor away from her!

comeagainforbigfudge · 20/09/2015 13:53

purple the smallest volume you can make with a perfect prep is 4fl oz. It might not be worth it at the moment.
But you could buy formula and dh can make bottles up each morning to store in fridge.

deeplybaffled · 20/09/2015 17:44

purple - we are mix feeding at the moment, mainly breastfeeding but topping up with expressed milk and ready made formula where necessary, which is keeping the costs down. is that an option for you? Ironically, her wind seems worse after breastfeeding than bottles! Infacol and dentinox are our new best friends Smile

deeplybaffled · 20/09/2015 17:48

toast - sounds like you have had a bit of a scary time! Hope it is coming to an end now and you will be home soon. We were only in hospital for 6 nights and I was starting to feel institutionalised, so can understand the wish to get home and start your real life !

RPopz · 20/09/2015 18:09

I think Min had some sneaky alternative method to a Perfect Prep?? With a thermos? I have heard rave reviews about the PP though.

Christening was stressful as predicted but because of Mr P being a disorganised idiot and his family being ignorant morons - not the baby!! MiniP was pretty good and had fun playing with all the other little ones Smile He's got a snotty runny nose now though Hmm

purplewhale · 20/09/2015 20:38

Still got the weird leakage, been on the phone to midwife and they want me to go in. Just waiting for my mum to come look after B. Don't want to drag him there now. At least he will take bottles.
MW on phone was baffled. Wondering if it's urine leakage but it doesn't smell. Feeling very scared that there is something badly wrong. Like internal stitches come undone or something.

WilHarlot · 20/09/2015 22:11

Hope all is ok Purple.

Yes my friend has some thermos thing.

I've got an infection. Need 24 hours IV antibiotics.
DH needs to go home to relieve my mum and I'm away from my baby which is horrible
He's going to bring him here in the morning

deeplybaffled · 20/09/2015 22:47

So sorry to hear that, purple - hope that the iv antibiotics sort it quickly and you can get home soon. X

purplewhale · 21/09/2015 00:10

Thanks deeply. Just been sent a pic. He's fine with DH. My boobs are full but I'll cope. He'll be here in the morning. I feel like I've lost a leg!

deeplybaffled · 21/09/2015 07:33

Could the hospital get you a pump so you can express? Enjoy your cuddles with him this morning!

Viroids - can I have some advice? Madam seems to have come down with a cold, which seems pretty unlucky at less than 3 weeks old, the poor scrap. She's taken against breastfeeding for more than a few mins at a time and is very unsettled. Is there anything I can give her?

Fleurchamp · 21/09/2015 07:43

Sorry to hear you're poorly purple! I hope you get better soon and get back home to B x

deeply it's really horrible when they have a cold - S was the same. The only thing you can really do is try to unblock their little noses - saline spray, aspirator and I found steam helped. I also heard good things about snuffle babe. I don't think you can give calpol until 2 mths and so if she has a temperature I would suggest going to the dr. Good luck!

Just dealt with an exploding poo - in a sleeping bag Shock

comeagainforbigfudge · 21/09/2015 08:24

Morning. Hopefully will have time to post properly. DD is still asleep. It's quite dull here this morning so her corner of the ro is quite dark. Got a MIL visit today. it will be fine, it will be fine

Hi toast hope you and melbatoast had a good night. I too couldn't wait to get home after 5 days. Especially when there were constant visitors for a lady next to me who was discharged within hours. so noisy (and slight intimidating!)

Oh dear purple at least they are doing something. Hopefully iv antibiotics will sort you right out. Is your DH bringing B in first thing? Hope you got a good night's sleep at least?

deeply Yeh it's horrible when they have a cold. Definitely second the saline drops and steam. And a snot extractor aspirator

fleurBrewCake for recovery after poo central! Not what you want to wake up to!

Right, DD has been very sunshine-y the past few days. All smiles unless tired. Fascinated by her right hand. Here's hoping today is more of the same Grin it won't be, I've jinxed myself now haven't I?!

purplewhale · 21/09/2015 08:39

They are on their way Smile

I will ask for a pump

RPopz · 21/09/2015 09:17

Aw purple - you can have B in with you if you're still nursing? Hope the abx kick in soon x

Sleeping bag poo! Shock Rather you than me Grin

Snuffle babe is good deeply - put it on her feet before you put her babygrow on. She's probably struggling to latch with her blocked nose. Sending get well hugs!

Chookford · 21/09/2015 09:30

purple sorry to hear that you are back in hospital, hope it all clears up soon and you are back with baby very soon.

fleur poo in a bag is the worst, really not what you want to greet you in the morning Confused

deeply M had a cold around that time too, I used the calpol plug in for her room at night and the snuffle babe rub in and she was over it pretty quickly, hope this is the same for you too.

DulcetMoans · 21/09/2015 09:31

Oh sorry toast, I must have missed that. Same thing happened to one of my NCT group who was premature, she ended up over the border but said the care was very good. Hope you're being looked after.

Bad news on the infection purple! Hope you don't feel too shit. Surprised they didnt let you bring B in with you. They should at least offer a pump!

Hope you have more sunshine days to come fudge. It makes such a difference to you mood when they are happy!

She's probably not feeding as long as she can't breath deeply. It is horrible to see. Can't really offer any more advice than you have had. Try sitting in the bathroom with hot water running to get it nice and steamy. Good for your pores too!

Has miniPopz got a cold now too then popz? At least the christening wasn't too stressful with him!

Still a total lack of sleep here. I just don't get it! He must be a baby that doesn't need much sleep. But then he should stop bloody crying about it! Spent an hour trying to get him to nap yesterday, managed 8mins - not even in one sitting! Then when it takes that long it edges onto feed time so then I don't know why he is crying anymore : is he sleepy or hungry?!

Chookford · 21/09/2015 09:31

Yes as popz said put the rub on their feet works a treat.

purplewhale · 21/09/2015 09:45

DH brought B in. I'm ok now

No idea how long I'm in for though

cookielove · 21/09/2015 10:03

popz E is a pickle when it comes to changes or getting dressed he just wants to be off and not lie still :( but he does go in the car seat or pushchair fine initially. If he comes out E.g. if we go for a meal he fights going back in

snap I have no idea re reflux but fx your lo starts gaining soon. My friends little boy was very premature and slow to grow in the womb he is now 15lbs at 13 months and on a high calorie formula he is perfect but small!

deeply I agree with snuffle babe on the feet, and chest (although check the age on the box I think that might be three months) we also have a humidifier which helps him breath. Others have mentioned the calpol plug in which apparently is the bees knees but it was too strong for me!

purple sorry to hear you have an infection :( we have a perfect prep machine, its brilliant :)

toast congratulations on your little one, E was 6 weeks early too. We spent 10 days in nicu nursery with jaundice and learning how to suck. My one piece of advice is if your want to breastfeed (I did) don't let the nurses persuade you to let them give lo one a bottle. They say it will help the suck but I really think for me and E it was the beginning of the end of breastfeeding, although I persevered for many weeks even though he didn't want to! :(

fleur at least it was containined? Clutches at straws!!

Minion · 21/09/2015 10:23

It was indeed me with the cheapskates version of the PP machine. Fill your bottle up with a third of cool boiled water and when it comes to using it, fresh boiled water to where it needs to be, add formula straight away and voila, perfect temp for feed.
Mws and HVs hate it so I don't mention it to them but it works for us.
Overnight we use the TT thermos and for the morning bottle only add 70ml of water at the most as it will have cooled enough.

Well, r truly truly slept through last night. Like really really slept through. No dummy run, no false alarms, nothing. I mean she woke me at 5:30 but I can handle that when I've had sleep. Quick bottle then off till 7:15!
Thought she'd be up all night as she refused a while bottle yesterday afternoon after her huge nap and no food for nearly 5 hours, but turned out she just wanted solids.

Is it me or is it mega scary how fast they develop? I was on the floor yesterday with her and turned my head a second (that old chestnut) and I turned round and she was stood there waving. Unsupported. For ages. I was agog!

cookielove · 21/09/2015 10:53

The only problem with that min is the formula needs to be mixed with water that is 70 degrees!

teejayem · 21/09/2015 11:29

I've been terribly absent, sorry girls, welcome new people!

I think we've hit some kind of 15 week devil sleep regression. Everything is back to front, he barely eats during the day and wants to feed ALL FUCKING NIGHT, naps till late in the morning, and is a perfect baby until 5pm where I presume he gets overtired and turns into an angry, shouty, screaming horror, but then all my usual tricks to get him to go down just don't work. He won't sleep in his cot or snuzpod at night anymore, he'll only sleep if I've got him in cradle hold and in bursts of 20 minutes. Then as soon as it hits 6am, I change him, and he will sleep on the bed next to me until nearly midday. Even with the curtains open, hairdryer on, tv.. It's like his body clock is six hours adrift. I am so tired I put my sunglasses and car keys in the fridge yesterday, threw a box of teabags in the bin, left the upstairs tap running for over an hour. My brain is literally scrambled egg :( I have no concentration. And I'm a snappy miserable wanker.
I also got a letter from the hospital's perineal trauma clinic. I've got an up the bum ultrasound to look forward to the week before Christmas to make sure my arts and crafts have healed, and to review future delivery. (ie no fucking chance you're pushing the next one out) Just when I'd stopped bloody thinking about it. I'm seeing the orthopaedic bod on Friday to see what they can do with my back, as lugging a baby and th assorted stuff around has aggravated my spondy which isn't helping my sleep woe.

Sorry I'm ranty..

purple hope you're okay lovely, good you've got your little guy with you, I need to read the rest of the Fred, TT has just woken up demanding elevenses.

Pass the matchsticks...
