Yes me too, feel a bit embarressed as I've not gone through all that poorlyness yet. God knows why.

Am meeting a mum friend this afternoon and she said "Can it be after 2 as I have my mother and baby group before?" and I got this unexpected flash of jealousy that she has always had that weekly support. I'm starting to wish I joined one when DS was born, particularly as I've no family around now. Or maybe I just have a really idealised fantasy of it, lol!

Are any of you in one?

Arkkorox · 18/11/2015 12:29

Anna we go to an under one Monday group but havent made many friends really, lots of people we know there now but no one I could talk to like I do here. I think if I rocked up and started ranting like I do on here I would get catsbumface. However im not sure how welcome back we will be now we have possibly caused a small chicken pox mass outbreak. Dd would have been at her most infectious and I think she interacted with the majority of the babies Grin

I am so bloody bored. Another few days of this staying in lark fills me with dread especially as dd is almost back to her happy self once the calpol kicks in but she is going to be bored stiff by Friday!

ladydolly · 18/11/2015 13:57

anna I used to go to one when I was off and I LOVED it as they were mostly quite chilled and non judgey but I only met one mum who I'd see outside of the group and I'd take having you guys 'virtually' over them in RL any day.

ark I was the same, dd was SO bored. O ended up sneaking her to the park and popping her on the swings when no one was close enough to see the spots. The fresh air is good for them and everyone will get it sooner or later :)

Arkkorox · 18/11/2015 14:49

lady if it wasn't forecast to be about 4 degrees by the weekend I so would! How long did it take for your dd to stop appearing with new spots? I think there's more every time I change her.

ladydolly · 18/11/2015 15:19

Yes I see your point!! She had a very mild dose of spots, I don't think we had any new ones after 48 hrs.

Arkkorox · 18/11/2015 17:21

Copying my other post here cause I think I might be worrying too much and no ones answering me

Dd (11mo) has had chicken pox since sunday night ( spots appeared Monday afternoon but fever from sunday night. She's been having her 4 bottles of milk a day as normal but not eating much at all and refusing water. She hasnt wee'd Much today at all, I changed her at 9 and at 1 the nappy was hardly wet, I just checked her again now and it's hardly wet again where as normaly It would be more full. This afternoon she seems more wobbly than normal. Falling over a lot more and struggling to keep her balance much more than normal although still happy and harassing the dog as per usual. Anything to be worried about or is she just a bit weak from being poorly? No temperature. She had one dose of calpol at 9.

ladydolly · 18/11/2015 18:21

Doctors without a doubt. I'm sure she's fine but better to be safe.

haventgotaclue1 · 18/11/2015 19:17

Yep I'm with ladydolly Ark - get her checked out if only to put your mind at ease. Fingers crossed no new spots appear and all the poorly babies (and mummies and daddies! ) get better very soon Smile

Arkkorox · 18/11/2015 19:21

Called 111 and they told me to call gp so I finally got through. We just have to dope her up on painkillers for the night and try all we can to get her to drink. She reckons she's got them in her mouth and that's making her not want to drink and also because she so sore down below she's holding it in.

She's refused her third bottle but I've managed to syringe 4 x 15 ml boiled water into her so she should be okay overnight. Gp said if her nappies are still dry in the morning to go in and see her. She has soooo many spots on her bits Sad

ladydolly · 18/11/2015 20:01

Oh poor love. Doc told me to do anything I could to get liquid into her, ice lollies, orange squash etc

I am very glad I have you all for support CakeWineFlowers

Strawberryfield12 · 18/11/2015 22:05

Ark definitely go to doctors. When we were in a&e with DD and she was trotting around without a single sign of being unwell, I told DH I felt as if we were wasting doctors' time while there were visibly poorly kids around. And then it turned out to be a fraction. Better see gp extra time than overlook something serious. Hope your DD soon recovers.

So in the light of our conversation about dropping bottles and gradually diluting the formula, we've started to do it about 10 days ago. We might be failing with the mission though. DD has increased the amount of milk for the same percentage I had reduced the formula powder in the bottle, having the same amount of formula diluted with more water. She is on last legs of cold so getting more liquid into her is great, but the sleep has gone to pot completely. Not even mentioning that the last two nights she has weed SO much that her sleepsuit, sleepbag, bed sheet and mattress protector have all been soaking wet by the morning. Stripping the bed every morning isn't a great fun. So tonight we are back to 100% formula to see if she cuts down the amount of milk.

ladydolly · 19/11/2015 08:36

Strawberry She's a smart cookie to still take the food she wants!! I'm still bf'ing so much at night and I've thought about cutting down but she still seems so hungry I don't know it would work. Anyway, last night she was only up twice (which is a fecking miracle after the last couple of weeks), she's got a really sore bottom so I wonder if that has been waking her so I changed her in the night last night. Her 3.30 feed was for nearly 40 minutes though, she eats loads during the day but still needs lots of food at night, the only time she doesn't eat much is tea time.

ark How is she this morning?

OP posts:
Arkkorox · 19/11/2015 08:45

She cried non stop from 10 till 2:30. Spots are much worse today but I think that has to happen. Oh and Sod's bloody law, AF had been missing for a month and a half and of course when she finaly settles at 2ish in my bed I realised it had arrived so I had to disturb her again Sad . More crying this morning. Is it too early for gin?

ladydolly · 19/11/2015 09:39

I'm all for alcohol based breakfasts. That's why I love Xmas. Here you go Wine.

Annarose2014 · 19/11/2015 11:33

Wine for Ark

We had the MMR this morning. Poor baba got SO upset. He's really strong so I had to restrain him and I felt like such a cow!

Dread going back in a month for the last lot!

Strawberry are you using the green Pampers at night? Only ones that reliably keep gallons in, imo.

We use Aldi pull ups during the day (size 5, eek!) but we still bring out the big guns for nighttime.

haventgotaclue1 · 19/11/2015 13:38

LOTS of Wine and Cake for you Ark and hugs for babyArk....how's she doing now? Did you go to the docs? Really hoping she's drinking more now...

Last night a miracle happened - Dd actually slept / didn't need us going in to her from 10.30 - 5.45!!! OMG! Compared to what we've had over the last 2 weeks, this seems like an eternity - really hope it only continues in this way.

Yesterday we realised / noticed another reason for why she may have been feeling so under the weather...it seems that she has at least 3 more teeth almost poking through! When did that happen?! We were so preoccupied by her yunky eyes / hacking cough / snot-pouring nose, that the teeth had completely passed us by Blush...

Just finished making a practice birthday cake - am hoping it will feed around 10-12...on suggestion of a friend, in order to make it a bit bigger than the usual chocolate sponge, I've gone up rather than out - i.e. made 3 layers....DH and I are going to be completely caked-out by next Sunday (her birthday) - what a shame Wink....

Strawberryfield12 · 19/11/2015 14:39

Ladydolly DD also has most of milk during the night, not interested during the day, most I can get in her is 125ml bottle. Before bedtime and during the night she goes through about 750ml (1000ml when diluted). Last night she was back to 750ml. So I am wondering if she actually needs the nutrients in the milk despite the experts saying babies this age don't require any milk on a night etc. I think I will stick to normal bottles and will hope that DD will not be the first person to feed formula in adult age and somehow she will drop when she doesn't need any of it. the sooner the better though!

Anna we use Tesco baby dry. I know it sounds weird, but we had to ditch Pampers baby dry as they were leaking pretty much every night. Tried to change sizes etc., all the same. I probably shouldn't be surprised she leaked everywhere considering amounts she drunk at night.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 19/11/2015 20:11

Cannot believe my baby will be 1 tommorow

We too ditched pampers baby dry at night as soaking right through clothes n sleeping bag to sheet and now use Tesco or Carrefour (ocado) n have only had one soaking and that was from over doing the sudocream as suffering with some nappy rash here.

Arkkorox · 19/11/2015 20:56

I think I have lost the plot. Cannot take another 5 hour block of crying and desperatley need some time without her. I love her to bits but this is more intense than when she was newborn.

ladydolly · 19/11/2015 21:12

Oh ark my love, you poor thing. It must be relentless. I think it's much worse when they cry now than newborn days because of the wriggling and face pulling and they are so bloody LOUD. Is dp helping? Can anyone give you a break tomorrow?

OP posts:
Arkkorox · 19/11/2015 21:24

Dp is away with work. Don't think there's anyone who can have her till Sunday. She's just starting to settle after another hour and a half of crying. I need her to go in her cot just for half an hour so I can breathe!

omama · 19/11/2015 22:17

I fell off the thread yet again! Happy birthday to all those I've already missed & wishing a speedy recovery to those who are unwell.

Well its DD's birthday today! I really cannot believe she is 1 already. It doesn't seem 5 minutes since she was that 6lb newborn! She's turned into a giggly squealy happy little miss & I wouldn't swap her for the world. She finally pulled herself up to standing this weekend & is already trying to let go!

Ark - sympathies - chicken pox is horrible so really hope your dd is feeling better soon.

East - happy birthday for ds tomorrow!

Anna - we have dd's MMR jab on 1st Dec, its changed since ds was a baby & they now also give, hib, men c & pneumococcal at the same time where they usedto do it separately at 12 & 13 months. Not looking forward to this one Confused

Night time nappies - we use pampers baby dry - still the best ones for us & touch wood, no leaks yet.

Arkkorox · 19/11/2015 22:23

Happy birthday babyomama!!! God this year has gone so quick hasn't it. apart from the last 4 days which have been hell

HalfStar · 20/11/2015 12:15

Happy birthday to babyomama :)

Oh ark that's shitty. We are preparing ourselves for the same here as CP is going around locally so it's only a matter of time. Can DP come back? He should. Would his mum come over? You do so need a break, I totally get it. Have you got antihistamines? We have liquid Piriton in the house, I'm hoping that that will help things when the inevitable happens. I agree with lady that the crying and wriggling is worse now and apart from anything else they're all heavy lumps! even my tiny dd.

strawberry does your DD sleep through the wetness if she leaks? Mine is up like a shot if anything like that happens! though it hasn't in ages, in fairness.

haven't good luck with the birthday cake! Let us know what you make. I went with a 3-layer carrot cake (hummingbird café cookbook) with spiderweb icing as per the suggestion :) It went down well with the testers though a tad sweet for my palate. DD2 wasn't the slightest bit interested in it, just threw it off her tray. Very different to DD1 who had chocolate cake for her 1st birthday, got to sample some, and ran around screaming on a sugar high for the rest of the evening.

The other night DD slept 7-11.15, woke for a longish feed (I was just going to bed so not interrupted from sleep), then down from 11.45-6.45. it was fabulous. It was so...fabulous. DH and I didn't know ourselves in the morning. No luck of a repeat last night though, she pulled her usual trick of awake for 2.5 hours, sigh.

We're very close to walking here I feel. I think she has made some sneaky steps when trying to grab toys off her sister etc., but hasn't yet struck out on her own properly.
