The old thread was getting dangerously close to 1000 messages, so thought I'd better start this one.

Argh dd's cough is so bad she's wheezing and has vomited today. Only a bit of a temperature so far but I just know she's going to get a chest infection and I'm working all week! Hopefully if she does need a Dr they'll see her at work so I don't have to take any time off Grin

WLmum · 23/08/2015 22:56

Poor dd spotty. I hope she's better soon.

WLmum · 24/08/2015 11:56

I just formally accepted the job! Eek! Can't resign til Thursday and will have to shoe horn in time with my boss - just to add to the stress! Eek eek and more eek!

Barbeasty · 24/08/2015 14:53

Hope she's better Spotty

Seasoned travellers, please tell me how do I set up my phone/iPad so the dds can watch stuff on the plane - without tinternet access. Do downloaded aps work? I haven't got a clue!

utopian99 · 25/08/2015 15:48

Congratulations wl!!
Yes downloaded apps should work on the whole unless they access streamed content through the app. Also you can download films/tv from places like I player in advance to watch offline.

Thinking of independence questions the other day, O can now dress himself (apart from t shirt issues every now and then,) feed himself, climb into his own car seat and take himself to the potty. The last one I'm unbearably relieved about as I was dreading potty training.

A on the other hand is at the pita age. (9mo now.) He's not quite walking on his own but won't sit still and interferes with everything. O is beinh generally a delight and helpful so it makes him seem more frustrating, but I think I keep forgetting he's still so little. Off to beat myself up now for getting cross about it. BlushSad

Barbeasty · 25/08/2015 20:33

WL can you put it in airplane mode or turn off data and wireless and see what works and what doesn't while you're at home?

Utopian we had a similar situation of difference with DD being really independent and A being little. We're at the point now where A can insists he will do things for himself too.

Hey! Where is everyone? Have we all decamped to Facebook?

NannyOggsHedgehogs · 29/08/2015 12:37

I think a lot of people are scared after Jeffrey

SpottyTeacakes · 29/08/2015 13:24

I'm protesting against there being no app. Stupid crappy mobile site Angry Beasty is right though by the time the app is back I'll prefer the shitty mobile site

FriendofDorothy · 29/08/2015 14:51

Hi everyone. I am sorry I kind of dropped off the face of the earth. I have kept up a bit on FB but life is busy.

We are just starting potty training The Little Mister. Any advice?

Barbeasty · 29/08/2015 20:44

You'll get through it?!!

In A's swimming lesson today he insisted on holding my finger or that I held him somehow, but he managed to swim 10m on his back with no help. Will he admit it? No.

And can I boast here that yesterday DD easily did 25m, several times on her front and back- yes, we went swimming with 3 of her cousins down from Oxford yesterday, had swimming lessons today and have swimming lessons tomorrow. When DD asked to go swimming this afternoon as well.... tears when we said no!

MrsNutella · 29/08/2015 20:58

Beasty I'd go swimming daily if I could Grin probably only for a week then my skin and my hair would probably need a break. God I miss swimming. Right, I have to tell DH that we are moving to somewhere with a decent pool! (I've tried about 6 local ones and they are all pretty bleurgh)

frazzled I'm struggling without the app like spotty.

fod we are part way through potty training - DS takes himself to the potty at home (just need to follow him and check he is sitting down and not attempting a stand up wee). He lets me know when we are out and he needs a wee. But, he will not poo on the potty. He is also refusing a nappy for a poo. We're planning to try and put a nappy on him tomorrow morning because otherwise he seems able to hold in indefinitely!

But... Advice.... Follow his lead really!

Barbeasty · 29/08/2015 21:45

Actually my big advice is always make sure the willy points into the toilet.

I managed to jump out of the way once, the deputy manager of the preschool wasn't as nimble. Or dry.....

utopian99 · 01/09/2015 23:54

Here here to willy pointing in!
O took 3 weeks start to finish (although not dry at night.) The first time he got a pee in the potty we made a huge song and dance about how clever and grown up he was, and told him that now he didn't need day nappies and just stopped using them. Went trousers off for the next week, with several accidents, then loose trousers on (no pants though) and had two accidents in 5 days, then a week with no accidents but where we still reminded him to think about if he needed to pee. Now he takes himself off, trousers down/up etc.
Method recommended by a friend, so I can't take the credit but worked like a charm!

SpottyTeacakes · 02/09/2015 07:58

We're off to legoland today it'll be our first long drive with ds in pants, when we went to London we were on a train which obv had loos...

Dd is starting sing lessons next week have been waiting since June. It's £28/month. Also feel bad as she did ballet and a music class when she was little and ds hasn't done anything so tomorrow we're going to a free musical session but if I sign him up, which I probably will, it's £70 a term. Ouch. Definitely no more children Grin

NannyOggsHedgehogs · 02/09/2015 09:32

Hope everyone's seen fb?

MrsNutella · 02/09/2015 14:37

Nanny hopefully if they haven't they will soon Flowers

WLmum · 06/09/2015 07:24

Is this thread still alive?! Before I post to myself!

SpottyTeacakes · 06/09/2015 08:03

Apparently not [tumbleweed]

WLmum · 06/09/2015 08:45

Resurection or defection to fb?

SpottyTeacakes · 06/09/2015 09:17

I don't mind. I'm happy either way Smile I'm struggling without the app though!

Barbeasty · 06/09/2015 13:07

You'll get used to it Spotty!

OP posts:
WLmum · 06/09/2015 20:05

Hooray - 3 of us makes a gang!

SpottyTeacakes · 06/09/2015 20:17

Grin it's so slow though beasty!

I think ds is a bit constipated. He often says he needs a poo but nothing comes, or just a tiny bit. Then sometimes, like the other night, he will sit on the loo for thirty minutes continuously pooing but not hard. He drinks plenty and eats lots of fruit lacking in veg though? Any tips?
