The old thread was getting dangerously close to 1000 messages, so thought I'd better start this one.

Mean mummy here has sent him to bed "hungry" aka he pissed about till his dinner was cold (fish fingers, chips and sweet corn hardly challenging to the palate) staring and pulling faces so I binned it 😣 he's asleep so can't be that bad!!

MrsNutella · 22/04/2016 19:53

beasty well done you!
I am starting to wonder why we bother with menfolk. They don't seem to be up to much really.

I have been asking DH to sort out some bits (just screws that need tightening really) for, actually, years! Today I had a root through his mess of tools and dug out a kit of Allen keys (sp?) and some cross head screw drivers and got its sorted I've wanted doing for ages. I also tidied up the garage and our understairs cupboard. DH did a run to the dump with me and chucked a bit of stuff out.

Never ask my DH to tidy something or put it away in the garage. There are shelves in the garage. Does DH use them? Or does he place whatever item on the floor of the garage near to the door and then close the door asap and run away? Hmm

I'm so excited! I've been after some art work for a few years but never managed to find anything I liked and fitted the space/style etc. Tonight I found it! Dm has been wanting to buy me the art as a 40th bday pressie - something meaningful and lasting, so she and I have been on a few art hunting trips, tonight we went to a contemporary art fair and right before closing I found some really cool tiny pictures to line my stair wall. The artist was so cute - he asked which one I wanted, and I said 'all of them' (8) and his eyes nearly popped out of his head!
Can't wait to put them up - shame about the tatty wallpaper backdrop though!

WreckTangled · 23/04/2016 07:25

You have to show us WL!

MrsNutella · 23/04/2016 09:08

WL awesome!! I spent a bonus on a piece of art years ago. I was meeting a friend for dinner and she was late. So I had a browse in a local gallery Grin

WLmum · 23/04/2016 15:12

Nice work nutella
I'll put pics up later

Just back from a princess party - T insisted on going as a robot and while all the other girls were doing swirly dress dancing, T was chanelling her inner Peter crouch!! It was hilarious!

WreckTangled · 23/04/2016 15:21

Dd has come home with a reading book which isn't part of the ORT. I asked her about it and she said the TA told her to choose a book herself as the teacher didn't want to put her up to stage 10 despite her finishing stage 9 do any of you with older dc know why she might do this? I don't really want to ask as I already feel like that parent Grin

WLmum · 23/04/2016 22:28

Maybe they haven't finishing assessing her tangled? Or maybe there weren't any level 10 books available - this happens a fair bit at both dds' schools.
To be honest, it can all be a bit of a mystery. I feel that as long as they are reading something, it's all good.

WLmum · 23/04/2016 22:30

Have got my little pictures blutaked up - trying to decide on he best arrangement before making holes. They're currently in their third position but I'm not convinced it's their final home. I love them so much!!

WreckTangled · 24/04/2016 07:15

Hmm maybe. Dd said maybe the stage 10 is just for year twos. I'm glad she got to choose her own book really because she finds the biff and chip books so boring (don't we all?!) but she's enjoying the one she chose. I can't wait to see your pictures!

WreckTangled · 24/04/2016 08:24

Apparently the teacher said stage ten is for year two Hmm

WLmum · 24/04/2016 10:50

On that case tangled she's already a brilliant reader so I would def bin the scheme books when you get a chance in place of something more engaging.

WLmum · 24/04/2016 20:35

Had such a fun afternoon - family cycle along the canal to a pub about 4 miles away to meet extended family for lunch. The cycling was def the best bit - dd1 on her own bike, dd2 on a tagalong attached to dhs bike and T on the front seat on my bike. They chatted and laughed the whole way! All got sore bums now though! And in bringing my bike out, I fell off it and bloodied my knee - not fallen off for about 30 years - must be a sign of getting old!!

WLmum · 24/04/2016 23:39

tangled thinking about the reading thing, it could be that the next level books are too hard - not in words but subject and context. I've had this quite a lot with dd1&2 who are good readers and it is such a turn off for them when they can read the words but still not understand the sentence. When that happens I write it in their reading journals and read a home/library book.

WreckTangled · 25/04/2016 06:55

I don't even have a bike it's been years since I've ridden one!

Thanks for the input on the books. She does have a tendency to whizz through them but still has good comprehension, although she also reads so fast she ends up making up some of the words Grin

Barbeasty · 25/04/2016 08:28

We're close to finishing this thread, so I've started the next one here

And with reading, I know they send home 1 level behind what they're doing in class to practise punctuation for DD. Could be there's a small group almost ready to catch up and all move on together. No harm in consolidating and doing comprehension with other books. But it would be nice of the teachers told you what they're doing and why!

Some random thread filling.... I'm stuck in traffic. I guess it's because of Mr Man ending his whistle stop European tour.

MrsNutella · 25/04/2016 11:57

A police van closed the road in front of me just a couple of metres away... If I stop MNing I might see the motorcade I guess...

MrsNutella · 25/04/2016 12:00

Yesterday I saw airforce 1 fly over... We live near the airport.

Ohhhh someone stuck in the traffic got out of their car.... Now another person.... I'm going to wait and see if they get sent back to their vehicles...

MrsNutella · 25/04/2016 14:18

Well, I saw the whole motorcade go past. Madness. A billion police motorcycles and then it was done. Only about half an hour of waiting.

GeoffreysGoat · 25/04/2016 14:22

How irritating, Mrs!

MrsNutella · 25/04/2016 16:14

It was ok. Not my favourite thing to do but there isn't much getting around it.

Fortunately I wasn't in a rush. Then it would have been really annoying.
