Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I have just gone mental at my dh. I've been stapled to this baby for two weeks, including 6 nights of solely me in hospital. Dh has been going home at night and coming back each day. So he gets sleep, fresh air and space.

Today he's going back to work after paternity leave. He said yesterday he would either go to work for a bit last night if go early this morning, to get stuff done so he could come in and join us here. I meanwhile have dealt with a sobbing screaming child 24 hours a day in a hot hospital room.

Send him messages last night saying what an awful night we were having etc

No answer from dh so I've just phoned him

He has JUST WOKEN UP!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so angry. He didn't get why I was upset. I can't even have a fucking shower til he gets here because I can't leave b.

Unfortunately La it takes them a lot longer to get the whole parenthood thing.... Hope he comes round with his tail between his legs shortly! Did you get anyone to look at your stitches? x

I would've left the nappy too Dulcet! Slather them up with barrier cream before bed, it eases the guilt Wink Thumb finding is good!!

Apparently the 6pm nap was bedtime! He woke at 9pm for boob and then went straight back down. Am not complaining. Waking every 3 hours rather than every hour too, which is nice.

Hugs min xx Today is a new day Brew Thanks

RPopz · 10/08/2015 10:36

It's not a GF book is it Fleur? If so, I would ram it up his arse. Sideways Grin

Fleurchamp · 10/08/2015 10:53

Ha! rpopz it's Baby Secrets - the routine is pretty much what we do anyway but depends on how S feels on the day. I am not waking him from a nap which took me an hour to get him down for Grin

How annoying la I think something has happened to our DHs since becoming fathers. My DH is definitely more selfish than he has ever been before. I am hoping he snaps out of it once S gets a bit bigger and we get something back from him. Here's hoping.

ZylaB · 10/08/2015 10:53

Lol at sideways popz

la use lots of lansinoh! It should stay on your nips to protect them and doesn't need wiping off before feeds, just put it on when you remember or get chance :). Hope the docs give good results.

LaLaLaaaa · 10/08/2015 11:01

Oh god I feel like the worst person now. Have just got message from dh saying he went to work 3 hours last night so he could leave early today.

Oops. Confused

PixieChops · 10/08/2015 12:29

La don't feel guilty, from your point of view you had no idea he was doing that until he text you this morning. Just apologise but say in future tell you what his plans are and then you don't look like the neurotic one going off when he's doing you a favour lol x glad B is on the mend, can't help with the sore nips but I agree that some people think you sit around twiddling your thumbs all day that you have time to rub milk on your nips! Fucking well done for remembering to wipe your arse! That right there deserves a clap! I keep forgetting to brush my teeth in the mornings and I've always been a stickler for dental hygiene. It's a shame you can't hire arse wipers/ tooth brushers and nipple twiddlers when your a mum isn't it. Big hugs for you

Min of course your baby loves and needs you. Sometimes they just act up for no good reason and it'll get right on your tits and you'll think fuck my life I'm getting in the car and pissing off. Trust me it's crossed my mind about 6 times over the weekend to do just that. Is there anyway that you and your other half can take it in turns with the night wakenings so at least one of you is getting sleep? Me and OH have always taken it in turns- last night was his night and I got a bit of sleep. It is like torture though when they start sleeping more and you think you've cracked it and then bam they regress. Have you got the wonder weeks app? It's really good and it may be that she's just having a growth spurt or emotional growth that's making her extra fussy at the moment BrewBiscuit for you x

Dulcet cut that bloody thumb off! Only joking, I'm just one of those people that's really against thumb sucking so I always encourage dummies because you can give them to Father Christmas/ tooth fairy/ dummy fairy/ Easter bunny (delete as appropriate) whereas thumbs cannot.
Fleur I was also going to say if it's anything by the wonderful Gina Ford not only would I ram it up his arse sideways as previously suggested I would then probably set DH arse alight so that all remnants of the book were completely gone. I don't know if GF ever had kids but I can imagine that they are like little military soldiers now. Hate the fact that it's all express milk- go for a shower- top and tail baby- BABY MUST NOT SLEEP PAST 7am! Pissoff love if I've got a sleeping baby and toddler at 7 in the morning you can guarantee I'm staying in bed!
Think I did it for a day, then realised how unrealistic it is and that my baby did not enjoy her military approach before I laughed at it and slung it in the recycling.
Are there any books you could leave around for DP Fleur such as "how not to be a patronising cunt" and fold down some pages in that? Hugs for you too x

P is at the childminders today and R is currently having a snooze. I'm trying to find the motivation to put some washing on but I really cannot be arsed.

RPopz · 10/08/2015 12:41

Ah shit happens La - he'll probably deserve it at some point, if not now Wink I think he'll understand considering the last couple of weeks you've had x

LaLaLaaaa · 10/08/2015 12:48

We're going home! Just been discharged, tests are clear. Hooray!

Don't judge me - my child has a dummy. I have always been in the 'I hate dummies' camp but oh my god he has shut up and settled for the first time in about 10 hours therefore the dummy is now my god.

OP posts:
WilHarlot · 10/08/2015 12:52

Pixie that post was hilarious! Grin Loving your book suggestion.

I don't think the dads get more selfish. I just think we've never noticed before there were children around. We will always sort the child's needs out before our own whereas I think the guys work the other way and sort themselves out first. They don't really seem to see why we have a problem with that.

FurryScoob · 10/08/2015 13:25

Mr Furry is really struggling with the fact miniS comes first, we can't go to asda when he finishes work because miniS is in bed & keeping her awake like he suggests is impossible if she's tired but this time last year I had no idea how hard this was gonna be 24 hours a day so I suppose as he's out at work still carrying on the same as he's always done he doesn't realise how hair pullingly stressful some days are.

Gina Ford doesn't have kids, my NCT teach got really pissed off when one of our group kept quoting her book at our classes like it was a baby bible. Needless to say she didn't last long trying to get her baby to follow GF's routine!

Hope your on your way home la

min are you putting R in a nursery when you go back to work? Could you send her for a few hour a week now to give you a break & get her use to the place? Flowers

Minion · 10/08/2015 13:55

Thanks girls. It means a lot.
pixie, yep how'd you guess! she started her ww6 yesterday, though I think she went into it a week early as it started in Ireland. She's also discovered separation anxiety. Joy.
However, she managed to stay awake 2 hours 15 after wake up which is a first (normally hour and a half tops), then her first nap was 1 hour 15! Brilliant, I slept too so I feel a bit more human.
She's just gone over 3 hours till her second nap so hoping she'll clock up more than her customary hour now too.

scoob, she is going into nursery in October! I've arranged she will go in for a few days throughout the next few months to get used to it.. Secretly I'm a little excited. May stay in bed all day!

Sorry for the downer.
Today is another day.

RPopz · 10/08/2015 16:26

So glad you've got the all clear to to home La! Good news about the dummy too! I was also Miss Judgeypants about dummies until I gave birth to my own nipple fiend Grin

ZylaB · 10/08/2015 17:05

Glad B got the all clear la!

rm00054 · 10/08/2015 17:12

Hi all. Sorry for the absence, I've been away on holiday Smile my parents and sister were there too so I got plenty of help with J, it was good but it was exhausting! I'm looking forward to a week at home not doing anything now.

I was similar in respect to dummies La they are now my favourite thing Grin Although having to keep putting it back in J's mouth throughout the night isn't much fun Glad B is getting to go home Smile

What do you do when baby refuses to be put down?!? I can have him fast asleep in my arms but as soon as I put him down he wakes up! Sometimes he stays asleep for 10-20 min, but nothing like a substantial nap. I can't get anything done, and I long to do the sleep when they sleep thing Sad He's good at night though, much more willing to go down. but during the day - not a chance. Oh wise viroids, what can I do?!

I'm not going to have chance to read back, so hope everyone has been ok.

Fleurchamp · 10/08/2015 17:55

Great news la

I have tried a dummy but S spits it out Sad

We have been given gaviscon - now how to get it inside him Confused

S has cried solidly since 1pm. Thank god for mums - mine has saved me from the funny farm today.

Fleurchamp · 10/08/2015 17:56

rm I am not wise but I find that in the night I let S settle for longer in my arms before putting him down but during the day I am too keen to get on and plonk him down too soon.

ZylaB · 10/08/2015 18:31

fleur I mixed a bit with some breast milk and cup fed it her. Only used about 10ml per feed. Hope it helps! If it doesn't go back and ask for ranitidine!

LaLaLaaaa · 10/08/2015 18:39

I wish I knew the answer to the putting baby down thing too! B will sometimes go down like a lamb but other times I'm stuck under him for hours.

We are home and u had a whole HOUR nap! Amazing

OP posts:
LaLaLaaaa · 10/08/2015 18:40

I not u

Also gaviscon - I would just syringe it in but then I'm mean

TheBooMonster · 10/08/2015 19:33

la yay on being able to go home! your DH will defiantly eventually do something to deserve being shouted at, men are idiots. When we went into the hospital to be induced with E we went A off to his parents, he went home once i was moved to the ward and the next day I had to phone him to work out when he was coming in so I could go to the loo without a baby attached to my boob to find that he hadn't gone to stay at my parents 10 minutes from the hospital, he'd gone home, was doing laundry (playing on the computer) and had invited his parents to bring A back home (after all i didn't really need him at the hospital did I?)... this was after I'd only let him go on the promise that he'd be back as soon as visiting hour started... he got a right royal bolocking and a slightly startled nurse came through when I was done and held E so I could go pee...

E met my aunts dog today, I think she's in love, she was terribly sad when they left...

WilHarlot · 10/08/2015 19:37

The trouble with the gaviscon is that you need to mix it with quite a large volume of milk for some reason. I presume maybe it thickens it? We just used to mix with boiled water and give it in a bottle but she was already used to bottles at that stage.

Both my two never really took to dummies Fleur. Some babies just don't like them. Saves hassle in the long run I suppose.

WilHarlot · 10/08/2015 19:40

RM to get jobs done, get a sling. For you to sleep, I'm afraid I have no good advice. I used to nap lying on my back with baby on her back on top of me Confused .

Fleurchamp · 10/08/2015 20:23

Hi all

S took the gaviscon in a little baby bottle. He has since recommenced screaming. That is 7 hours solid.

DH has had to take over.

I just want this to stop Sad

minimooo · 10/08/2015 20:26

Yay for being at home la! You must be so relieved. What a nightmare for you all, but hoping you can put it all behind you now and get on with being a little family at home x

No advice on the baby putting down here either I'm afraid. White noise seems to help, but doesn't work 100% of the time here. It seems to be luck mostly!

min, I really feel for you. Minimin loves the socks off you, it's just that they will smile at other people more. E has just started giggling (v v cute) but will she giggle for me? Not for shit! Dh waltzes into the room and picks her up and it's non stop giggling. Little rascal. I try not to take it personally but it is hard when you're the one putting in all the hours day and night. A little bit of love back wouldn't go amiss!

Dummies = amazing. Literally don't know what I'd do without them. They've been a real lifesaver. I was really judgey of them before too. Changed my tune now hahaha! fleur you could try a few different types of dummies. I tried Dr Brown's but E didn't like them. She only likes the Avent othordontic ones. I noticed there were MAM ones too, but I haven't tried them.

Hi boo! Long time no see Smile

wil that is exactly it with my Dh. I could have written that word for word. Dh will always make sure he's sorted before he will see to E. I can't understand it at all.

Well, I've been trying to deny it to myself for about a week, but I think we've hit the 4 month sleep regression a bit early. It's awful. She just will not stay asleep! Reeeaaally hope this doesn't last too long....
