snap I agree with the above - keep pestering your GP until you get some results. Little snap does sound poorly Sad

S keeps head butting me - i don't think it will be long before one of us has a black eye.

Minion · 18/08/2015 21:16

9pm and we're in bed.
Rock and roll.

ZylaB · 18/08/2015 21:50

Sorry had no internet for a day and a half....

pis I've lost 9lbs in 3 weeks :) :). I think I'd lost about half a stone before joining though, just through starting couch to 5k. Mind you...I need to lose just over 4st in total so a long way to go!

Baby is asleep and has been since 8ish, why am I still awake!!

Has anyone got any experience of leaving little ones in gym crèches? I'm doing the running twice a week mostly now, not 3 times like I want to because I'm. Too knackered by the time MrZ comes home to do it and mum comes once a week. I can't put her down for the 35 mins it takes (plus a few more getting showered etc), she just won't go that long without a meltdown by herself so I need someone to have her. I've been looking at some exercise classes at my local gym and they have a crèche so I could theoretically leave her there for the 45min class, and then just run twice a week...but..I'm a bit worried as she is clingy and she's still so young I dunno if I trust anyone who's not family. Should I man up or go and insist I check it out? Anyone done this?

Pisghetti · 18/08/2015 23:39

Well done Zyla! She gave me a leaflet about breastfeeding which seems to suggest I can actually eat quite a bit until B is weaned. AIBU to keep her EBF until I get to goal Wink

I'd go and see the crèche before you decide anything?

Pisghetti · 18/08/2015 23:50

As an aside was anyone following a thread towards the end of last year about a young girl whose waters went at 18 weeks? The thread went on for a while and went quiet just after she'd had her baby (at 28weeks) then disappeared. There were a few angry posters who (understandably) thought she was a troll and had stolen pics of a premature newborn etc to use. During that thread she mentioned OBEM were going to be filming at the hospital she was in and she might take part - I'm just catching up with the new series and she was on episode 2 or 3. She wasn't a troll - sadly she lost her baby at four days old. Made me cry.

LaLaLaaaa · 19/08/2015 00:49

God that was a mission!!! Had to change password a few times on desktop to get app to work. Fucks sake.

Pis I sobbed at that episode the other day. Wasn't the best one for my first since birth as it brought back all the shit. I felt so sorry for that poor couple and they were mature about it all despite being so young.

Snap you poor thing it sounds stressful. I will read back properly in morning and answer. For now tho the baby is asleeeeeeep!!!!

Just read Justines post about it. Scary!

Finally got round to resetting! How some people get their kicks, eh? At least the police are on it. Asshole.

Poor minisnap! I don't have any advice other than going to GP until they listen.

Why don't people like the baby led weaning then? Because it's whole foods and not purée? We should be ready around Christmas so thought some soggy sprouts could be a good start! (said without any research into weaning at all!)

Didn't see they thread pis, and not sure I can ever watch OBEM again but that is very sad. No wonder she didn't come back to update!

No experience of gym crèche zyla but a few people in my jam class (that I may never be able to return to - sob!) did use out one and were always happy with it. Kids were older though...

I'm hoping to go to cinema in the morning to a special 'with baby' screening. Equally excited and terrified he might kick off!

Fleurchamp · 19/08/2015 06:31

Maaaan. Just when I started to get smug about S sleeping well at night he decides that sleep is for wimps and screaming is the new black....

I have had 3 hours sleep and he is awake. For the day.

I threw Ewan venting my frustration. DH was lucky it was not at his head - laying In bed issuing instructions - pick him up! Put him down! Get a dummy! It's wind! Etc. etc. I eventually said (at 4am) that if he is so knowledgeable he could deal with it and flounced out....

DH has to get ready for work at 5am so that achieved precisely nothing.

Today is going to be a long day.

DulcetMoans · 19/08/2015 06:35

The bad man pasted all the user names and passwords he managed to get online. It's here if you want to check yours - make sure it's not the current password! Still don't really see the point in him doing this!

ZylaB · 19/08/2015 07:14

Re weaning, we started doing just BLW finger foods, which she loves..wiping things around her mouth and sucking them. But she wasn't swallowing much yet which is normal, and I wanted her to actually eat something, so we give her some purée too now, though she helps with the spoon! So we're doing a mix and it seems to work :)

cookielove · 19/08/2015 07:31

That man is a twat! Not sure what he was hoping to get out of it though! Prison time?

We did finger food and purée, if we had just done blw (the posh name for finger food) E would still not be eating he is a limited diet of what ff he will willingly eat all others are dropped on the floor! Hmm most without every trying.

WilHarlot · 19/08/2015 08:14

Dulcet from what I've read there doesn't seem to be any real research from either side of the weaning camp as BLW hasn't been a 'thing' for long enough. So any arguments are just opinions at this stage I think.

There seems to be some questions about whether in pure BLW babies are missing out developing some oral skills which then may have an impact on speech development but I don't know to what extent or if indeed that's crap. Our dietician advised we do traditional but didn't explain why. And one of the HV said something about new research suggesting they need the calories from food at 6m - but then Micro didn't eat much for the first two weeks and I bet some babies doing BLW eat loads from the get go so I wonder if their advice is just based on the fact that's what they're used to saying.

I'm a bit like Zyla and get frustrated at the actual lack of eating that goes on and also I freak out at the gagging so I do mostly purees but also do chuck some finger foods in there. Sadly, I quite like pureeing all the random fruit and veg combos at the start although sometimes just puree up what we're having for dinner.
Like anything baby connected, there probably isn't a 'right' way to do it and friends of mine who have done both do often say the child who did BLW is a better eater later on. I thought I'd do it this time for that reason but turns out I'm a wimp Grin .

Zyla I am contemplating using gym creche too. My friend used it and said it was fine -although not sure if her wee one was closer to the 1 mark when she started. Mini would never have tolerated being left by that stage though so I wonder if it's better to get in early. I'm not used to leaving my girls with anyone so it seems a bit weird - but you'd be in the same building and gone for a maximum of an hour so I'm thinking I might when Mini starts nursery.

cookielove · 19/08/2015 09:54

zyla are you planning on putting your lo in nursery if you return to work? If yes then I think time in a creche will be beneficial. It may be beneficial any way as you get baby free time and lo gets to socialise :)

I think there are lots of + and - to both blw and puree's and you just need to do what's right for your baby and you.

Bah I have a cold, gotta try extra hard not to give it to E!

WilHarlot · 19/08/2015 11:26

zyla apparently your password was one of the ones taken?

ZylaB · 19/08/2015 12:42

Was it? I looked on the list and didn't see my name. Which password was it cos I changed just after the first issue with this idiot.

Well H is booked in the gym crèche for Friday! I went round it and they have a max of 9 kiddies with 3 staff. Also it's up to 5 years old so the older ones can entertain themselves a bit better. They do change nappies and feed (some places dont) and I'll be there in the building if they need me and it won't be for long, so I'm being brave and trying it! Eek!

LaLaLaaaa · 19/08/2015 13:20

morning (is it afternoon?)

We've had the Hv out this morning because B is in so much bloody pain with his tummy. apparently it's colic, there's naff all anyone can do and I just have to ride it out. I bought colief but then read the frigging label and you can't give it directly to baby you have to put it in expressed milk. Useless.

I don't think it's intolerances etc. as he's been absolutely fine before now and it's mostly a patch in morning and evening. apart from that he has feed and goes to sleep normally. but the patches are awful - he goes completely stiff and screams and pulls legs up then stretches them out with tummy all tight. Impossible to feed because he wont relax to latch on.

zyla I saw your name on the list - also I saw pretzel on there. Plus some of the usual MN crowd like anyfucker etc.. the password had an animal in it and a 90s rock star if that helps?

Horrible screamy day here, one of those where I would quite like to go for a walk on my own and leave the screaming (but would never do that as I know it's not his faullt and he's just sore poor thing)

OP posts:
ZylaB · 19/08/2015 13:26

I've sorted the password, thanks!

ZylaB · 19/08/2015 13:34

la poor B, it's awful when they're distressed. Just try to remember he will get over it as he grows, I know that doesn't help much but it's hopefully something to cling to.

minimooo · 19/08/2015 13:47

Annoying having to reset passwords! Idiot man.

la sorry for useless advice I gave on fb! I did just think that warm baths help E too - maybe give that a try? I am super vigilant about doing tummy rubbing and bicycle legs every day. I probably spend a couple of hours each day doing it, 10 mins here and there. I'm going to look into baby osteopathy or chiropractor too as i've heard that can sometimes help. It is awful when they are in so much pain Sad

Well done zyla! Sounds like a great plan. Will be nice to have a little gym session while H plays. Sounds lovely.

Hope you get better soon cookie!

Are you feeling better wil? Saw your post on fb. Hope it's clearing through now and you don't need anti bs.

Aw no fleur, hopefully it was just a one off and S goes back to good sleeping tonight!

How was the cinema dulcet?

I've booked a weekend in Centreparcs! Really excited. Though am a bit nervous about how well E will sleep away from home for the first time. can't be any worse the her sleep at home surely? she's still waking every 2 hours through the night. Good god it's slowly killing me.

Can you wise weaning viroids please recommend a blw book? I'd like to have a read up before we get to that stage. When did you all start with weaning? I'm wondering whether to start early because of her colic? It's still really bad. Will weaning help do you think?

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 19/08/2015 14:43

Thanks for your supportive comments, ladies. I could barely wake MiniSnap to feed at all day yesterday and found a rash on his neck so Took him to the doctor. She thought it's probably a virus but wasn't too worried as he didn't have an elevated temperature. So we've just been trying to get little and often into him and he does seem better today, although again very congested - the GP said this was unlikely to be related to a milk protein allergy as he doesn't have diarrhoea and she thinks it's more likely caused by the acid reflux. Really hope things settle down soon as I'm fed up of getting him weighed and being given crap advice by health visitors. The latest gem was 'you must keep feeding him'. No, I thought I'd leave him with some cash and a takeaway menu and bugger off for a long weekend in Ibiza.

Re weaning, I didn't purée but found that fork-mashing was a nice compromise between purée and whole pieces of food, as it still had texture. Soft ripe fruit, avocado, sweet potato wedges and slices of omelette were popular finger foods. But P was really more interested in holding a spoon and jabbing it in his ears and eyes, and finger eating came a bit later. We started weaning at 6 months, he wasn't really showing any interest before then.

La, screaming sounds very wearing. I seem to remember Infacol can be given as drops, might be worth a try?

Fleur, you've had another bad night. I think I would have definitely aimed for DH's head. Can you sling up the baby and get yourself to a coffee shop for a large slice of cake?

Zyla, I am most impressed by your fitness drive. How lovely to have a crèche at the gym. Exercise is the absolute best way to stay sane. My current workout involves 10 daily reps of reaching into the cupboard for the biscuit tin.

WilHarlot · 19/08/2015 14:48

I don't think weaning will help colic, I did notice it helped Mini's reflux though - or maybe that was just natural progression. I would just wait until you see the normal signs or she hits 6m, whichever comes first. Mini started feeding loads at about five months and was really mobile which I figure made her hungry so I started her at 5 1/2 months. With Micro I just waited until 6m as she wasn't bothered in the slightest. Don't know about BLW books but I think either Popz or Juni maybe recommended one before.

Boob still v sore unfortunately but I don't feel too bad so hopefully won't turn into anything nasty.

Well done Zyla. Someone told me the creche at our local council gym is really good so I feel more confident about it now. Am going to look into it next week during nursery hours if my boob gets better.

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 19/08/2015 14:53

Fleur, sorry you've had another bad night.

WilHarlot · 19/08/2015 15:05

Oh poor MiniSnap, that's really scary. You don't need to have diarrhoea to have an allergy. Unfortunately most GPs don't seem that clued up on it all. Did they offer anything better for reflux if they think it's that?

ZylaB · 19/08/2015 16:24

BLW books, I have the 'baby led weaning cookbook' by Gill Rappley and Tracey Murkett, it does a nice intro of how it works and then what type of stuff to introduce first, then next etc and then the rest of the book is recipes for the whole family for a few ideas. It's nice and I'm definately going to make some of the savoury muffins when H is eating solids properly. That said I read it and AM following the suggestions, but also giving her some purée hehe.

I think I'm going to give her some weetabix for brekkie, but would you guys mix it with formula or whole milk?

wil really hope your boob is getting better.
