My one keeps crying too. Must be the night for it. I have the sound sleeper app on the ipad - you can pay two or three quid and get it unlimited play Popz and it can also be set to turn on when they cry and track their sleep. It's really good but I object to having to leave my ipad in the baby's room every night.

DulcetMoans · 14/08/2015 02:13

Apparently there's some YouTube videos of different white noise-esque things. DH found a 24hr video of the Star Trek enterprise engine noise that he wanted to use but not tried it yet. Same as you though wil, want my technology myself!

J does lots if those things you mention rm, so might not be anything and just one of those things babies do. Not sure that helps though.

Not sure you can hire from hospital deeply, but I know some do. I hired one yesterday, should turn up today. Found it on the mothercare website but it's actually hired directly from mandula. I think some NCT branches do it too.

WilHarlot · 14/08/2015 03:49

Sigh, can't get back to sleep.

LaLaLaaaa · 14/08/2015 03:57

I love dummies

OP posts:
DulcetMoans · 14/08/2015 04:27

Dummies are amazing la, really helped here. Not helping much here tonight though, woke for 2am feed and still not shutting his eyes. Whhhhhhhhyyyyyyy?!

You can't sleep wil or being kept up?

Minion · 14/08/2015 06:38

Today I will mostly be sporting the zombie look

LaLaLaaaa · 14/08/2015 07:05

I've officially had enough of the whole 'too hot too cold' baby thing. Bought 1 tog sleeping bag as recommended by everyone I know, followed gro bag advice about what to dress underneath for the room temp of 23/24 degrees (short sleeved vest) and have still woken up to a child who feels hot and is slightly sweaty on his back, round armpits and neck.

It's making me so anxious about the SIDS stuff! They put the absolute fear into you about it and so when your child is hot it plays on your mind.

Is it normal for them to be slightly sweaty? Or should I go back to just a sleepsuit and nothing else? He seemed ok in that last night

In which case I've just wasted £30 on a sleeping bag.

Getting so frustrated with his new feeding habit. Wants food, I offer boob, he pushed it away with hands and turns face away, then screams at me that he still wants boob.

Does anyone want an extra child?

Sorry I'm not the only one having a crappy might. Are you asleep yet dulcet and wil?

OP posts:
LaLaLaaaa · 14/08/2015 07:07

Dulcet have you tried baby dancing? And I don't mean the NM definition

I do dub step dancing with B in my arms - the rhythm makes him go to sleep

OP posts:
DulcetMoans · 14/08/2015 07:51

Nope, sleep was not a thing he wanted after about 2am. We both had a go, he was tired but we all had to suffer. Luckily DH is off today but now we are both a bit ruined. Registering him today at 10am so that will be fun to try and get to on time.

Not tried dancing la, will have to see if I can get him to appreciate the sound of ska beats!

He has the cheek to be asleep now though. Hmm

LaLaLaaaa · 14/08/2015 09:08

We are also registering today. I'm gong to have to go bf clinic now too to try to get help with the latching

Fleurchamp · 14/08/2015 09:27

I think these babies were in cahoots last night :-(

S won't take a dummy - I use one to comfort him but I have to hold it in as when it falls out he screams blue murder.

S gets very sweaty when he feeds and is usually pretty warm when I get him out of his cot. I had him in a sleep suit and lightly swaddled in a gro swaddle last night.

It's very individual/ up to personal opinion - I am a cold person and so the general rule of adding a layer for baby doesn't necessarily work for us.

minimooo · 14/08/2015 09:34

Sorry it wasn't a good night for anyone. E decided that 3.30am was a great time to wake up and play games such as "how many times can I drop my dummy?", "ooo I know, I'll practise rolling, get stuck and cry for help" and the old favourite "practise making gurgling sounds at the top of my voice". Yeah, fun times. Finally got her back to sleep at just gone 5am.

Have fun with the registering la and dulcet! It's a pain to get out the house and to an appointment, but nice to have their name on a certificate!

I think it was mentioned already, but def get on the child benefit forms as soon as you get the birth cert - they will only backdate for 3 months. I only just made the 3-month deadline and almost lost money.

I'm off to Pushy Mums today for the first time. It's an NCT meet up in the park, but anyone can join in. I'm hoping there might be cake involved.

WilHarlot · 14/08/2015 09:56

Fingers crossed for cake!

I miss the glory days when she'd take a dummy. Although never tried it at night.

Mostly I kept myself awake last night. She woke up at half one for her feed which is normal but I had a similar dilemma to you La. She felt hot so I undid her sleeping bag. Cue an hour later she got her legs stuck in the cot bars. I managed to dance her back to sleep - definitely works. But I was up from 1.30-4.30 at least.

FYI, sleeping bags from Asda are about £8-12. Don't be spending thirty quid on gro bags. Some babies are a bit sweaty but I would probably go back to the sleepsuit if you think he seemed fine in that.

Feel like have been hit with sledgehammer.

Minion · 14/08/2015 10:06

Mines obviously matched her mood with the weather.
Vile
So I've put her back to bed in hopes she's happier when she wakes.
Just when I had some semblance of a loose routine now she cocks it up.
Thought about using the next 45 mins wisely, wash my hair etc. Decided bed for us both was the most attractive options.

Pretty sure she won't care I'm still in jammies.

When will my child sleep through?
8 months on Tuesday and doesn't even seem close to it.
It's got to happen ml.
Right?

WilHarlot · 14/08/2015 10:13

I dunno Min, I'm waiting for the same thing and pretty sure it's not even on the horizon. Solidarity sister.

Minion · 14/08/2015 10:31

If I see one more post about how 'my boy has slept through since 7 weeks and I had to get up with him twice last night ' or
' my boy, my world, such a smiler, eats fantastically and sleeps like a dream '

I may do something which gets me on the news.

Just, no!

LaLaLaaaa · 14/08/2015 10:44

I hear you min!

My friends posts currently are of the 'back in pre maternity jeans already!'

Fuck you.

I had a CS and my bits look like someone took a serrated bread knife to them.

OP posts:
LaLaLaaaa · 14/08/2015 10:46

I was allowed a whole extra 2 hours this morning. I sometimes try to count actual hours of sleep had vs those hours trying to get him to sleep. But then I forget where I got to.

He wants food again. Of course he does

OP posts:
Minion · 14/08/2015 10:47

And now I wish I'd fallen asleep too as she's proving me wrong and currently clicking up 55 mins

Of course I fully expect her to wake as soon as I press post.

LaLaLaaaa · 14/08/2015 10:48

Meanwhile dh is singing 'what does the fox say?' to B. Strangely he loves it!

OP posts:
WilHarlot · 14/08/2015 11:07

Hahaha I love the songs Dads think up to sing to the kids. Makes me laugh a lot. Mini was going around singing 'All about the bass' the other day. Although took me quite a while to work out what it was.

Fuck off with the pre-pregnancy clothes bullshit. If you're back to normal size within a month of giving birth, let's be honest: it's not down to anything you've done. Hardly think you've been out running every day and on a low carb diet. Not saying it's not a nice feeling to fit into your normal clothes again but hardly deserves boasting.

I have had the opportunity to lie in this morning. Can I sleep? Can I fuck.

Minion · 14/08/2015 11:17

The urge to go in to your child's room when they are sleeping longer than normal, just to see if 'they're ok'....
God I hope this is the 3-2 nap transition.
I could get so much more done watching more box sets

RPopz · 14/08/2015 11:37

I'm still rocking maternity leggings at 7.5mo pp La. I really hate this competitive weight loss bullshit, especially amongst new Mum's! Like wil says - it's nothing they've physically done!

Is he just a hot baby La? Mini P has always got a sweaty head!

Ah Min - Fb mumzilla's are the worst. Unfollow unfollow unfollow!

MiniP took a dummy for the first time in months last night! Shock He's forgotten all about it this morning like. Hmm

Have fun registering girls. Try and get some lunch out or something - make it vaguely celebratory?

Miserable weather today!

RPopz · 14/08/2015 12:04

Viroids, who's got their period back?? I've been having period pains on and off for a couple of weeks now but they've not resulted in anything so far.... (Its annoying because I keep thinking "oh shit, I'm in labour... oh no wait..." Duh!)

WilHarlot · 14/08/2015 12:13

I'm the same, pain but nothing. Guess it means we're ovulating?
