Beksmum · 22/01/2007 10:46

Hi girls

You'll have to forgive me for being an infrequent poster for a while as things aren't slowing down here, in fact I think they are getting worse!!! This is going to be mammoth, but I doubt I'll get a chance to post again any evening this week as my grandad is still in hospital so I will be visiting he quite abit, they have found out that he has got lung cancer He was 91 on Saturday and everyone keeps telling me he's had a good innings but it doesn't make it any better, it just makes it worse in fact as just 'cos he's old doesn't mean I want him to go anywehere

Twinkle, Ben will be very jealous that you've got snow, he keeps asking me when it's going to snow here - not that we get much snow on the London borders!!!

Chacha, sorry to hear you had to go into hospital but glad you felt better afterwards, the SPD sounds horrible, hope they can find some way of keeping you comfortable until bump descides to put in an appearance.

Nova hope bump decides to give yo ua break too, it sounds like you're doing ten rounds with Mike Tyson at the moment. Meant to say yay Well Done Noo one sleeping in your big bed

Diege at your journey home and your cab driver what an arse! I had to go and pick Paul up from a station about 6 miles away as all the trains were cancelled. It meant he got to stand in the cold for an age while I got the kids sorted as he refuses to use the mobile phone I bought him - some men will never learn will they!!!

BB hope you have a great time this weekend I'm sure your new found yoga skills will come in useful

Londoner thanks for asking about Ben's legs, they seem to have settled down again now, he really does suffer terribly with growing pains but we are out the otherside for a nother 6 weeks hopefully. Unfortunately the poor little bugger now has the hacking cough that the rest of us have so can't sleep for that instead, he makes a real fuss about coughing so I am definitely seeing more of everynight than I'd like to at present!!! Tom is a pretty good sleeper if I'm honest. He now likes to settle himself in his cot at night and will only wake briefly a couple of times looking for his dummy. He sleeps until about 6:30am which isn't too bad I suppose and has a 2 hour nap in the morning. Hence my post now!!!

Right best go and do some housework before the terror tot wakes up, his trick for this week was to put 3 yes 3 wrapped chewits in his mouth and then clamp his mouth shut to try and prevent me getting them back. I definitely have my hands full with this one but I have lost a stone and a half running about after the little sod!!!

Love to everyone will catch up with you all again soon, Beks

Beksmum · 22/01/2007 10:50

Sorry Nova crossed posts there, yes Tom loves draping things round his neck and as you say fun at first but worrying when it becoames leads etc. We just tell him no when it's somehting unsuitable and take it straight off him.

Tom gets 11 hours at night and two hours nap during the morning

He does want to feed himself all the time now, but wicked mummy won't let him as I can't be doing with the mess at the moment but know I'm going to have to let him soon.

He is also into walking everywhere, we had to leave the house 20 mins early on Friday, so that he could walk to the next street to meet my friend. Willfull doesn't come close to describing this one! Beks

Rodeo · 22/01/2007 11:51

Morning!
Hi Beks, that was a long post but I love reading long ones Sorry to hear about your Grandad - it doesn't make it any easier how old they are, they're always a big part of your life whether at 70 or 90. LOL at Tom's antics - they're getting so funny!
Nova - Wow! Think cleaning the oven is taking nesting a bit far though Jess gets about 12 and a half hours at night, and 1-2 hours in the day at some point usually the morning - or sometimes split. I'm trying to keep her awake til 11 this week in the hope of making naptime a bit later and hopefully longer so she can make it through the day without getting so stroppy at teatime!
Right, off to get a bit of lunch, mucking out the horses this afternoon. Hope it's not too cold for everyone (poor Twinkle!) Speak later x Oh before I go did anyone watch American Idol last night at some of the contestants!

hmmm, my house smells of wet carpet.....

GreedyGecko · 22/01/2007 13:27

Good to see you posting Beks, sorry to hear about your grandad . It sounds awful what you have to go through with Ben every 6 wks, poor little lad, but you seem to deal with it pretty well.

Nova, Sean loves putting things round his neck, yes, very cute until they get hold of something potentially dangerous. He also loves putting things on his head, I have found him walking aroubnd with a pair of Owens pants on his head.

I will no longer complain when my heating breaks down, poor you twinkle having it happen when it's snowing, hope you've got it fixed.

Just killing a bit of time until electrician comes round to quote me on getting house rewired (not looking forward to that one). Sean's asleep on my lap, so I'm sure he'll be disturbed soon. Oh yes. Sleep. He goes down by himself at about 7pm, wakes at 5.30am, then will have half - 1hr in the afternoon. So that's about 11hrs a day, no wonder he doesn't grow.

ChaCha · 22/01/2007 17:14

Hi girls,

Hope you all had great weekends. We did some DIY (well DH did the DIY while i watched, instructed etc) and had a good clear out too. Like Nova, nesting kicks in from time to time and other than the SPD, piles, aches, pains and tiredness I am actually excited and looking fwd to baby's arrival and bringing it home (bit nervous about recovery post section though but am sure i'll be fine).

Beks - Sorry to hear grandad is poorly and as Rodeo said, it just doesn't matter how old they are does it - keep us posted on his progress and we are thinking of you.

Nova - Our DS is another who loves draping things round his neck - he also loves walking around with anything from pillow cases to pants on his head too, think E.T! (LOL GG)
He sleeps anytime from 9-11pm until 8-9am and has an hour or two at the now later time of 1.30-2pm and can sleep an hour or two then. It works well for me.
Also forgot to mention well done on transition to big bed. Speaking of which we've had to start closing the bedroom door now as he gets up on his own and wants to go walkabout, found him walking around in a stupor the other night! Just one more safety gate to get up I think so we can leave him to wander the landing.

Twinkle - Hello! Any more advice on forthcoming section for me? It is great to pack a hospital bag this time knowing what lies ahead.

Londoner - are you out there?

Hi to anyone missed xxx

Diege · 22/01/2007 21:15

Hi . Well, Secret Santa is here (long story, involving us never being in receive parcel/lost parcel in local collect office...) so THANK-YOU FOR THE LOVELY BOOK!! L grabbed it off me straight away Now just have to sort out the one NOVA sent!!
Hope the chilly ones are feeling warmer! Can't believe you have snow TWINKLE - keep warm!!!...bet it will be here soon ...more thoughts of cancelled trains etc!! GG: hope the rewiring quote wasn't too painful! Will it be a long job to do? I never know what to do with myself when there are workmen in the house (do I pretend to be really busy in another room, or sort of hover, pretending to be interested?? ).
NOVA/CHACHA, feeling very nostalgic with all this nesting talk . Never felt the need myself ; agree with RODEO, cleaning the oven is taking it way too far!!
BEKS: sad news about your grandad ; sounds like things are pretty stressful. Do you get a chance to get some time by yourself to just relax and unwind? Take care .
RODEO: brrrr, I felt cold just reading your post about the stables...seem to remember them being absolutely freezing, with everyone gathered around the single calorgas heater . Haven't seen US idol (is it on Sky?) but looking forward to Wags Boutique .
Well, booked my hotel room for the big smoke for Thursday night . Exam marking again - good money, but the drag of marking the things!!
Oh and before I forget, no real neck obsession for L (although we did have handle of carrier bag attempted tonight!). Sleep (when I can control it - ie non-nursery day)we've just dropped the morning one as it was a battle, so now have 2 hours at lunch, then 7-6am (ie. 13 hours), bearing in mind that 6am figure can fluctuate wildly!! Seems the CC has worked...for now...
Right, lecture to write. Worked from home today, but ended up watching the tennis!! MMMmmmmmm, that Spaniard ...

novadandypowder · 23/01/2007 09:19

Thanks for all your feedback on my questions. Sounds like noo is getting about the same as your lo's, around 13hours a day. She certainly travels around at night, I've put an air bed next to hers so I can lay down in the mornings if she wakes up early, and this morning I thought she was awake at 6.30 so I went into her room and she was sound asleep on the air bed. I left her to it, and when I went back in at 7.30 she was back on her regular bed again! I have no idea how much of the night she spent on the air bed, but she must have been comfy as it has an eiderdown and a quilt over it.

Beks - sorry to hear your news {{{hugs}}}

Snow, I love snow, but we never really get it here - boo.

Well, the carpet in the bedroom is still wet and smelling of wet dog. I'm not impressed.

Rodeo · 23/01/2007 09:36

Morning!
Nice and sunny here but really cold! LOL at stables being freezing, Diege - it's so true! When I was younger we all used to sit in the muckheap and dig a whole for our feet to keep them warm! Think we even had our dinner on it - yuk! Oh and I always do the 'busy in the other room' method of dealing with workmen - even when it's dp
Aw that's so cute about Nat being on the airbed Jess sleeps with her bottom in the air with her arms tucked in under her! Hope carpet dries today!
GG, love your new name!
Well must get on, have washing and beds to do, heloo to everyone else, speak later x

novadandypowder · 24/01/2007 08:43

we have snow!!!!! ok, so it may be only a centimetre deep, but in London you have to accept that's the best you're gonna get. Noo freaked out by it and refused to touch it, although she did accidently touch some on the car. Better make the most of it - it'll all be gone by lunchtime.

Londoner · 24/01/2007 10:51

Hello Hello! Snooooooooooooooow!

Long time no see guys, lovely sickness bug descended on the Londoner household over last week but now back on track. Kids went in to school today with a snowball the size of a basketball shreiking with delight, so so sweet.

Hi to everyone, hope you're all doing well, spring is on the way girls don't worry! LOL.

Diege · 24/01/2007 12:10

Hi!!! No snow here yet, and fingers crossed it DOESN'T appear (purely because of getting into work!). DDs are very excited at the prospect of snow arriving, so in a way am hopeful .
Hope you are coping ok TWINKLE with snow and dh in Columbia!! Is your mum down, or are you having to cope alone? The sledging sounded good fun! NOVA: LOL at Noo 'accidently' touching the snow ; I bet her face was a picture! Still awaiting the POs 'redelivery' of your parcel btw, just in case you think I've not acknowledged it! Supposed to deliver today, but van has been and gone along our road, so a bit with them! Oh well, at least the consolation of 400 A' level scripts from AQA at 8am!
Welcome back LONDONER . Was only thinking about you this morning . Glad the snow is being enjoyed by you all - maybe I'll see some at Euston!!
Well, in work's bad books again, as I had to 'call off' my eveining teaching last night as migraine from hell descended. They didn't mind the sickness so much, just that I had cancelled the class 'without going through the propoer procedures'... . My first priority was letting the students know, as they travel some distance to the class, and no 'bosses' were around, so I had to make a deicsion...Not losing too much sleep over it though... .
Right, best get on with the curry I'm making!

Diege · 24/01/2007 12:53

Sorry Royal Mail!! Parcel is here NOVA, and the things are gorgeous ; thank-you so much!! L will be very cosy on the school-run this afternoon!!

Rodeo · 24/01/2007 13:29

Afternoon!
We had snow too! Glad you're all enjoying it Joe was amazed and wanted to go out in his pyjamas Jess had a bit of a touch but was non-plussed. It's all melted now though, good job as the school run was really slippy!
Diege - you're sounding very domestic what with waiting for Royal Mail vans, cooking curry and school runs! And booooo to work, the gits!
Londoner, welcome back! Sorry you were all poorly - have you aired the house (seem to remember this was your advice) or is it too cold?!
Must tell you about my disaster of yesterday - I toppled Jess in her pushchair fowards off a kerb and she and the pushchair tipped face first into the road Luckily she was strapped in quite tight so managed to avoid being hurt. I don't know what I did, think I just put the brakes on by accident and just pushed. I fell over too and I now have 2 big bruises on my shins. It was sooooo awful, pushchairs falling into the road is my worst nightmare - never mind flipping over completely!!!
Anyway, better get on - my laundry pile has exploded for some reason - speak later

OP posts:
Diege · 24/01/2007 16:37

Hi RODEO , Diege the domestic goddess here . Poor you at the buggy disaster - it's so easy to do though (though we usually have tipping back rather than forward)and I'm sure Jess is fine now, though v.scary all the same. My worst disaster has to be forgetting to put the brake on and L's pram rolling across the road (empty, by a miracle) to the other side when I was chatting - can't really bring myself to think about what could have happened.
Anyway, enough confessions of buggy pushers , must get back to my home baking

GreedyGecko · 24/01/2007 19:55

La la la I'm not listening!! We still have no snow (apparently it did snow quite heavily about 6am, but was all gone by the time I looked out of the window. (we were up at 5.30, so a bit that I missed it)

Rodeo, hope you're over your disaster yesterday, I think my worst nightmare with a pushchair is trying to get across the road. It's pretty difficult around here to get across roads without having to come between parked vans. I usually come out backwards though .

lol, Diege, I can picture you with a pushchair loaded with shopping.

Londoner, I had a dream about you last night, not sure what happened, as my other dream freaked me out. I'm having a lot of 'pregnant' dreams at the moment for some reason so sleep is not too great here.

BrownieBells · 24/01/2007 21:23

Hello ladies!
Well, we had a small smattering of snow here this morning - but not much to write home about. Not really that worried either way tbh - T still has a real stinker of a cold, and his little cough seems a bit more chesty too, but this seems to be a common occurence when he cuts teeth! I am most usually found covered in lovely snot trails - our bed cover is covered in them! (not a nice thought - and we are a clean family honest, if just a littlesnot covered! - just don't see the point in washing them just because of a slug trail of snot tbh! is that bad?! )

GG - how come you've changed your name? It's cool by the way! What are you and Nova thinking of PB this time?! AM about to watch this weeks - had to record it, so about to savour a whole hour of the gorgeous Wentworth!!

Beks - v. to hear of your Grandad - strength and hugs to you and yours....echo Rodeo's sentiments re Grandparents. As you know, I lost both of my Grandad's towards the end of last year (although the one lived in Canada, and I was not close to him, it is still v. sad) but I frequently talk to the one I was closest too - Thomas and I also pop and visit the spot where his ashes were sprinkled...(in fact I was there on Christmas day, prancing about showing him the "fabulous" wellies I got for Christmas - I must have looked like a complete fruit-loop - but I know he would have smiled and told me I was lovely!) I miss him dearly as I know all my family do - but I was most definitely blessed to have had him for so long. He is watching over me and mine, always now.....a comforting thought. Anyway, I just wanted to say - pour your heart and emotions out if you need too that's what friends are for....and lots of love and hugs to all of you (fab pics on yahoo btw, had a look and you all look gorgeous!)

Hope to post again before we go off for our weekend away, but if I don't then have a fab weekend everyone and will catch up when I get back!

brownie
xx

ChaCha · 25/01/2007 21:40

Hello everyone!

I watched the snow fall at 4am the other morning and it was just beautiful. There was something very comforting in watching the snow fall from the window of a warm room in the wee hours of the night - the only advantage of my insomnia I guess - it was like something from a Christmas card.

Rodeo - DS sleeps like that too when in his bed, I think it's really cute, don't you? I'm glad you are both alright after buggy incident, you must have had a terrible fright but thank God you are both unscathed (other than your poor shins) and hope that you've had some rest.

BB - Enjoy that weekend away. GG - Also like your name change - original! Beks - Hope everything is okay with you all. Londoner - good to see you post but sorry to hear of the bedreaded illnesses. Diege - good luck with all that marking and thoughts of curry and homebaking are making me drool! Nova - Is nesting still at a peak and are you well?

Not much news here, can't wait to have the baby now am just soooo uncomfortable and grumpy most of the time. Could not run after DS in TTs today and poor nanny had to run after him everywhere...I've had it!! On a brighter note managed a waddle round the shops and a few treats and pick me ups. Cannot wait to get out of these maternity clothes....grrrrr!!!!

xx

Londoner · 26/01/2007 11:28

Hello all,

ChaCha, you said it all. So sorry to hear of your stay in hosp and your spd you poor thing. Glad that you got it diagnosed though, well done, it can be so hard to get things done for yourself when you're a busy mum I know. Just a thought, I take ds2
here for his asthma and often see pg mums being treated too, they do pg women and also mums up to 6 months post-natally, I reckon they could really help you. Just a thought. Also Nova for you as they treat people for eczema, poor you , along the lines of when your body is off balance it compromises your immune systems and can result in such conditions as eczema. Might be worth a try ladies? It's near Kings Cross in London also there is a new one in Battersea. Understand it's not for everyone mind, I know a lot of people think this sort of thing gobbledegook etc, but know how it has helped ds2 with his asthma and sleep problems over the last year. Right, did not mean to lecture sorry - you know how it is when you find something that really helps you and want to share.
Rodeo, omg poor you and the pram how awful. Still get chills from doing similar with ds2 if that's any consolation, had dd1 in sling, running for school run with ds2 in buggy but hadn't strapped him in , stopped suddenly to cross road and he fell into the gutter as car came round corner..... aaaaaah, still cringe when I'm dropping off to sleep at that one sometimes. Glad J is okay, well done for strapping her in so well. Love hearing about your horsey escapades. Oh, and as for taking my own advice, you're so right, am always full of ideas for everyone else but just bumbling along when it comes to me, thanks for that, I will air my house right away!
Well done Noo on big girl's bed, wow! How exciting Nova! Bet you feel ready for that baby now.
Diege lol at your royal mail sagas. at the buggy across the road, I feel sick, you poor thing!
How did Euston go? BOOOOOO to your bosses and their 'procedures', you know what they can do with those!
GG, liking the new name, esp as I can still call you GG. about dream, hope I was nice.
Congrats on finishing bf, did you say that recently ? think so, how are you getting on?
Beks, sorry to hear about your Grandad, lots of strength and hugs to you, you must feel sad.x
BB enjoy your weekend away!
Right, have to go! Oh have moved Bets into dd1 and ds2 bedroom, she has not been in our bed for 2 nights now since the move! hOoray! Although am still visiting her when she wakes up abuot a million times a night lol..... it's progress it's progress at least she's allowing me to put her back in her bed once i've given her a quick cuddle...... yes another night cuddler here I'm afraid [yawn].

Londoner · 26/01/2007 11:29

........epic, .........

Londoner · 26/01/2007 14:01

OOOOOOOOO-nly me.......... hang on GG..... GreedyGecko poss hints at an increased appetite and also you're having >>a lot of pregnant dreams

Diege · 26/01/2007 20:19

Hi! Back fron London with piles of marking to do, so will probably be on here more than usual over the next two weeks as I'll be procrastinating!
Oooh GG, anything you want to tell us...

feetheart · 27/01/2007 07:45

Hello all

Its name change time from me as well though I haven't managed to keep the same initials - its Tessasmum!! Been thinking about it since well before Ash was born but couldn't think of a good one. Realised a few weeks ago that it had to be this one - when Ash was tiny Tessa used to call him 'my little feetheart' It was very cute and used to bring tears to my eyes.
I have tried to keep both names going but its too much of a pain so I hope you can cope with me being someone different?

I've had a lovely long catch-up of everyone's news as I've been awake since 5am (though only got up at 6.30am). Ash is more or less sleeping through now (at last!) but I still haven't got used to it.

Londoner - must be something in the air as I stopped bf last week too. We were down to 1 feed first thing in the morning and I don't think he was getting much and as he has been sleeping later it was all getting a bit rushed to get us up and out for pre-school. We both seemed to have coped quite well. Now I'm just waiting to see what size I end up so I can go and buy nice new undies

BEKS - stupid bl**dy HV, I'm sure some of them attend tactless classes Glad you got the reassurance you needed from here.

Nova and ChaCha - sorry you are both having a tough time but agree with the others that its lovely hearing all your news. Getting quite excited now though very glad its not me this time!
The only time I did any nesting before Ash was born was a 1 hour period between my waters breaking and the midwife coming out to see me - it was 4am though

Hope everyone else is well. Have a nice weekend everyone.

twinkle1 · 27/01/2007 11:54
