Ladies, thought I would do the new thread as the other one is taking forever to load up.

FrostytheSnowman · 20/12/2006 20:16

Yep, unpaid leave as I left on 30th May so my 26 weeks is well up

Have just laid Sophie on the floor surrounded by remote controls and she is having a whale of a time but not rolling. Twisting her body and going onto her side then goes no further.

What is baby led weaning?

Grrh at AF-have only had one weeks ago-feel as if mine is going to start any moment.

Bye for now-off to put Sophie to bed.

Morning ladies

Are you all ready for Santa coming? I will need to go out today again but i know exactly what and where i am going so not too bad.

Well i havn't been on the past couple of nights.Dd1 has never gone to bed on her own as i bf/co-slept until Eilidh arrived.Eilidh and i co-sleep now so dd1 in her own room but dad goes in with her and she always went to bed with us around 10pm.Had been driving me nuts and finally decided to do something about it on Monday.

So Tues did bath, teeth story and into bed.Took till about 11pm and she only settled properly when dp went in with her.
Then Wednesday and last night same routine and she was asleep within 10 mins.

Bloody marvellous!!!Bonus is she is soooo much happier during the day, hardly any strops and whinging.

Eilidh is not rolling and hates tummy time so not doing that. Not planning to wean till shes 24 weeks, need to get cooking for it.She is def the easiest to please/contented of my 4 babies.

What are you all doing for Christmas? I have the most space ie dining room plus a sun-room so i'm having everyone here. Me and dp and our 4 kids,my mum and dad,db and his partner and they have 6 kids between them.
My mum is great with my dd's tho so i can do my Nigella bit (haha) and mum will entertain them.

Better get the ds's moving.I am keeping ds1 off today as he's having his hair coloured and cut for Christmas(bad mummy eh?)he wants it blonde/blue tips so thats gonna cost me a
fortune.

Have a good day all xxx

agalch · 21/12/2006 07:22

Oh and i am having my mum and dad,bil/sil and their 2 boys(who are 22 and 19) and ds1's girlfriend and her mum and dad(eek) on Boxing Day for buffet food and drinks.

I am knackered just thinking about it lol.

xmasstocking · 21/12/2006 08:41

Agalch - wow - makes me stress just thinking about having all those people round for 2 days! On Christmas Day we are going (with MIL) to my parents where my sister/BIL and nieces and nephew will also be - from there on bosing day we are going (with MIL still!) onto my BIL and gf and then eventually coming home on the Wednesday! Bit of a trek with all the travelling but this year, I couldn't be bothered cooking!

KZ - I think we must have seen the same doctor at some point - when we took Josh to hospital when he had pyloric stenosis, the doctor also decided sticking a spatula down his throat was a good idea - with exactly the same result - right over the doctors trousers!! I hope Roshi picks up soon and surely the trip to hospital was worth it for the Harrods bear (although I think I would have preferred the footballers inshorts that Sammy nearly had )

Kosh - Jake looks adorable - what a cutie!

Bit sad atm as Josh has stopped smiling at me - he is full of smiles for DH but nothing for me - just stares at me - DH thinks it is ilarious and keeps making him smile to rub it in more - don't know what I have done .

Good to hear about Roshi, obv some of that milk stuck!

We're going to be busy over the next week, as I have refused to travel anywhere we are holding court here. This means that my family are coming down for xmas day/boxing day, which I'm actually looking forward to. My mum will prob help to cook and I know my bros are itching to play with the boy - they are big fans! Then I think (as things are never confirmed with DH's family) that my MIL is coming on boxing day and staying for as yet unconfirmed number of nights. FIL is working over the festive season (separated from MIL) so we will try and arrange something in new year, ditto BIL and his gf (altho they will prob take the opp to stay in a hotel). We then have friends coming for New Year's Eve.

I'm still bf, never had any fixed dates in mind. Think to start with I just wanted to get to 2 wks, then 6 wks etc. DS will be 6 months at end of Jan, so will see how we feel then, but will prob carry on if all still going ok. Depends if I get a biter I suppose! As I'm not going back to work just yet I don't feel stressed about making a decision either way. Part of me is a little sad about starting solids after xmas, as this feels like the end of an important part of babyhood. But I'm also proud after the rocky start we had that DS is so healthy and bonny on it (if still a major puker!)

FestiveAtForty · 21/12/2006 20:19

Hi Girls
Well a bit pissed this eve, have just returned from the main company do (was just the office do last week) ? can barely type now. DP has had Emma all day?
So apologies if not altogether altogether?

Kayzed ? good news (ish) then about Roshi I suppose, well she?s got a nice bear anyway! Hope she?s much better for xmas, sounds nice and quiet just the four of you.

Agalch but I?m sure you?ll have good knees up
We had a bit of impromptu co-sleeping last night, only because I couldn?t be arsed to carry her back to her cot. It was wake up calls every 2 hours. DP defected to the spare room at about 3am as he was worried about ?crushing her?

Kosh ? Jake is gorgeous, with a face like that people should be leaping aside to give you a seat on the bus

Mae ? good luck with the in-laws and their indeterminate stays ? we?re off to stay with my in-laws so boot?s on the other foot, very nice apart from FIL?s tobacco habit, dangling his fag end over the Brussels sprouts and his darling grand-daughter. Bless, he just doesn?t get political fag correctness. I say bless now, I?ll be wanting to whack him round the chops in a mere few days? time.

Night all, here?s to getting some sleep in before festivities start in earnest (ha)

prettymum · 21/12/2006 23:38

hey everyone

for xmas we'll be going to dps friends house to celebrate, will be having traditional jamaican dishes!!! yumyum
we'll be going xmas eve and stay till boxing day.

dps mumis jehovah witness so she dont celebrate and my family are muslim so they dont celebrate and i dont see them anyway so nothing new there.

koshka- jake is soooooooo cute!! beautiful eyes!!

kbaby · 22/12/2006 11:35

Buggar, can you believe it I was going to search old messages to find how dd started sleeping on her own and the postnatal threads I need pre nov 2004 have been deleted.

Sammysam- what an ordeal I hope shes better today. When we had to do a wee sample for dd they gave me a sanitary towel for her nappy which they then collect the wee from by syringe, sounds much easier.

Frosty- it?s a worry when their too quiet, it normally means dd has found my make up bag!
Weve had a belly to back roll a few times but when he tries back to belly his arm gets stuck.

How old was everyones los when you all weaned? im feeling that I should try and make it to 26 weeks but im keen to try and get him sleeping and in a routine b4 I go back to work in jan, so thinking of starting next week.
im still on maternity although my pay is down to smp so im waiting for my payslip to see how much. I cant wait for my first full pay in feb.

Agalch- how old is dd1. my dd 2.5yrs sleeps in her own bed but ds seems to be spending more and more time in with me much against dh?s wishes.

Were having xmas dinner on our own and then mum, dad, pil, brother/ girlfriend and bil/ sil are all down after dinner. Where were all going to fit inbetween dd?s house and car god knows.

This sleeping lark has to get better surely, last night ds fed at 6.30 and slept until 11.30pm but then woke at 2am wouldn?t settle so came into bed until 3am where I put him back in his cot then woke back up at 4.30am and so back into bed again where he laid by the side of me chatting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

madness · 22/12/2006 11:43

kbaby, I'm having a bit of a panick as well.. Will def wait til 26 weeks, but not sure how it's going to work out...With ds I went to work full time and still managed to express morning and eveving. Now I'm only working PT but have ds and dd1 to look after as well. And last week had a babysitter to look after dd2 and dd2 absolutely refused a bottle. Am hoping she will be OK with a cup end of Jan (as was dd1).Anyway, due to my panick I have started putting some EBM in the freezer and otherwise just hope for the best....

Kayzed how worrying for you , are you going back to the docs?

Sammysam ? how is Sophie today?

Kbaby ? great news about DS?s vocalising

A Jamaican Christmas sounds fab Prettymum!!

Well had a lovely hangover this morning, can confirm that Dioralyte rehydration salts are vile, just like drinking water with tons of salt and sugar in it, which is basically what it is I suppose.

Emma still not showing any signs of rolling, though she has suddenly got lots bigger and feels heavier, still quite skinny but I think her growth is going lengthways.

No more attempts at weaning as it?s been a busy week and she didn?t seem that keen, I?ll try baby rice again and mushed carrots and apples next I think, just little bits as she?s not 26 weeks till middle of Jan (I don?t think she is anyway, must consult the calendar!) Bit worried about allergies given the problems with formula, but also panicking a bit about having sufficient EBM for nursery.

Sleeping still very variable, only woke twice last night thank god, given the hangover!

IamBlossom · 22/12/2006 19:39

evening ladeez. Feeling very christmassy tonight, and haven't had a drop of Christmas cheer (yet). I tried the rehydration drinks this week too, Festive, and despite prefessing to be blackcurrant flavoured, they were indeed vile..... had a girls night out on Wednesday, great fun, but too many sticky drinks.....

No AF here....where is it I wonder???

Not weaning Toby until he is 5.5 months I think, so beginning of Feb? Will look at calendar...

Took DS1 to Paultons Park yesterday to meet Santa, he loved it! Frigging FREEZING though....

KZ, i do hope Roshi gets better soon....how rotten for you. Toby's cold is better, although he seems to be really teething atm, was very cross last night and ended up in with me and DH in spare room. I was too tired to try and keep him in his room. On the other hand have managed to persuade DS1 to stay in his bed till 6am last few mornings....fingers crossed.

have a fantabulous Christmas everyone.

To top it all off she just will not settle down tonight!!!!

BOOOOO

Anyhow better go shes crying again

Just in case I don't get on again before:
MERRY CHRISTMAS

agalch · 22/12/2006 20:22

Evening

Kbaby she's nearly 2 and a half. It's my fault really,i co-slept with all of mine and it's only cos Eilidh came along that Niamh has been kicked out early.
She has done really well all week,Tues not so great but Wed/Thurs and then tonight in bed and sleeping every time within 5/10 mins so tis fab.

My mum coming tomorrow night to watch girls and ds2 so dp and i can go and shop for Boxing day goodies.Christmas is done so only party food and booze to get.

I am feeling really Christmassy now as there are loads of pressies under the tree.dd1 has looked but hasnt touched a single one.says she will open them on Xmas day.I thought i would have to remove them but she's been a star.

Lost 5lbs the last time i was weighed and have put 2lbs back on.I really don't want to put loads of weight on over xmas but it's soooo hard with all the nice stuff at this time of year.

Anyhow better get on while i have the 2 girls in bed.Have a good night all xx

xmasstocking · 22/12/2006 20:44

Just a quickie

KZ - Josh seems to have taken a turn for the worse aswell - he has been puking up big style today so that is about 9 days since he started with the puking although it did stop for about 4 days - 3 out of his 4 bottles came back within about 10 seconds of finishing feeding (he managed to keep 4oz and some pear down this pm and that is it all day!) Am getting very worried now so going to call the doctor out tomorrow if he is sick again when we feed him tomorrow morning. His cold seems to have pretty much gone and his vomiting is not triggered by coughing anymore - it literally just comes gushing out of his mouth. (TMI maybe??) With his history of pyloric stenosis, I really hope that it has not returned (even though in my mind, I know that is extremely rare and probably not after this length of time but you can't help worrying can you??)

He seems perfectly ok in himself - happy etc - I think it is just affecting me and DH. DH syringed 20 mls of water down him before and you would have thought we were giving him poison with the noise he was making - guess we have to perservere with it.

Sorry this post is long - just need to get it off my chest!

Poor pukey babies, hope they are better for christmas

Sleep is so crap here at the moment I am exhausted...

sammysam · 23/12/2006 10:43

Just a quick one as i'm supposed to be packing as we're off up to my mums for christmas at lunch........

Sophie has been much better but has the occasional large projectile vomit when i'm least suspecting it-it goes everywhere-gushing out... but at least its not at every feed or in her sleeep now.

Was feeleing quite festive but now have monseter cold and just want to curl up in bed...

Anyway don't think i'll get a chance to come back on til mid next week so
Merry Christmas!!!
and i hope all the little sicky ones get better very soon

Have a fantastic Christmas

Love Sam & Sophie x x x

FestiveAtForty · 23/12/2006 14:28

Just a quick one to say Happy Christmas all and sending lots of get well vibes to sicky mummies and babies!

Emma is screaming a hooley upstairs, opened her presents from my parents in Australia via Skype webcam this morning and got THOROUGHLY overstimulated, been crying for 2 hours solid... doesn't bode well for Christmas day!!

Wishing you all lots of festive spirit!! xx

kbaby · 23/12/2006 21:40

Krimbokrackerskayzed- The poor thing, DS still has a wheezy chesty cough and hes now had it for over 2 weeks. Hes worse if hes crying as then he has a coughing fit. I guess roshi could still have it and it may just be making her sick but if it doesn?t clear soon I would take her back as shes been vomiting now quite a while.

Im going to have a moan about ds?s sleeping again- Last night he fed at 7.30 and 10.30 and wouldn?t resettle until 11.30 then woke again at 1.30am for a feed and didn?t settle until 2.30 and 5 attempts at getting him to sleep in his cot and woke again at 5.30, so that means I managed 2hr intervals of sleep. We must?ve programmed him to need us to cuddle him to sleep which is why hes not settling. Its how we undo it I don?t know. Wallace im sure im still winning the title of most knackered mum

He has learnt how to roll from his back to his tummy today, although he cries as he realises he doesnt like it. We also managed to sit up for a few seconds today.

Does everyone count the age of their babies in weeks or months ie 20 weeks = 5 months or 5 calender months?

I need to put weight on! I am 8 stone 2 which is a stone lighter than I normally weigh and ive tried on my work trousers and they look terrible, way too baggy. Hopefully xmas will sort it out.

Xmasstocking- I hope josh has improved and isn?t ill over xmas.

DecktheWallacewithBoughsofHoll · 23/12/2006 21:49

No No I win

last night he went down ar 8:15, but woke 30 mins later. Then didn't go down til after twelve. Then woke at 3 and spent the rest of the night grizzling (well it seemed like the rest of the night anyway...!) Do I win?

He has gone to sleep tonight, but only because I put the hoover on outside our room rod for my own back!
