Ladies, thought I would do the new thread as the other one is taking forever to load up.

Twinkle - how awful - as KZ said, keep a note of who said what, when etc - that is what I am doing. And don't forget, if you need the details of that solicitor for a consultation just let me know. And if they do expect you back on Monday and kick up a fuss, maybe your GP will provide a sicknote for stress again

Having a nightmare time with Josh - he has got a really bad cold & cough and everytime he gets a really bad coughing fit, he vomits - and if he has just been fed, the whole lot comes up (which is happening a lot!) - really worried that he is not eating enough as he is off his food anyway and only taking about 3oz at a time - and most of that is coming back up . Just tried to ring NHS Direct for advice but was on hold for 7 minutes and got fed up of waiting!

This second 'new' version of MN is deffo an improvement!

Hi all
Don?t know where this week has gone! Can?t catch up with all the posts properly but hope everyone?s doing okay.

Kayzed ? gawd what a stressful day, hope you manage to enjoy at least some of DS?s party, sounds like hard work though. Re breastmilk, have you been phasing it out with mixed feeding with formula?

Twinkle ? that?s good that you have your request in writing, good luck with sorting it all out.

Pink and Prettymum ? good luck with the deliveries, they are hopefully just being slow at the moment but will arrive eventually. I?ve found that with a few things I?ve ordered recently.

Frosty ? Sophie sounds like she?s putting on weight well and enjoying her solids.

Fab pics everyone! Will try and get around to doing some more.

I quite like the new look site ? seems better to have ?pages? to each thread as presumably that will reduce load up time. Also the text size etc looks exactly the same to me ? maybe because I?m using Safari on a Mac rather than Internet Explorer?

We?re okay here apart from Emma?s new wakefulness and my new knackeredness, last night was a bit better as she managed from 11.30 to 5am before waking (for a feed), but the last few nights she has woken every two to three hours, for varying amounts of time. I?m also finding it really hard to sleep now as I?m just waiting for her to wake up all the time. Tried her on a bit of baby rice with breastmilk last night ? don?t really see how it could have made too much difference as she dribbled most of it back out again, but at least she didn?t screw up her face with horror like she does with formula.

Well I?m back to work on 3 Jan and we have a settling in session at the nursery on Monday. Feeling (very) slightly better about it now since I realised I have to use up some annual leave before end of Jan, so am doing 2 days a week instead of 3 until Feb. We?ll just have to see how it goes I suppose.

Haven?t bought her anything for Crimbo yet unless you count the Quinny Buzz I?ve just bought (a present for me really ). I?m so shallow, I just love prams and have wanted something with a chassis you can put the car seat straight on to for ages. It can also go rear facing which is lovely. So that takes her pram total to 3 now but my defence is that her first one only cost £20 off Ebay and I?m hoping to re-sell it at a profit

Hugs to everyone coping with evil snot and tummy bugs and disrupted nights xxx

hello all

I haven't had time to read all the posts but hope you're all ok. I think alot of us are in the same boat at the moment with lack of sleep and generally feeling under the weather.

Zack is ok, still sleeping poorly and is needing alot of attention throughout the day. Not altogether a bad thing though because it encourages me to get out and about alot more.

Zack shouting for me so I'm off!

sammysam · 16/12/2006 16:47

Good lord-i'll have to be quick-is anyone elses LOs ill at the mo?
Soph has a cold-runny nose etc but all today shes been projectile vomiting everywhere
I'm really worried as can't believe shes actually kept any milk down.

What should i do? Don't think she has temp.

usandourlittlexmascracker · 16/12/2006 17:12

Hi sammysam

Zack hasn't been sick, if you're worried I would call NHS Direct for advice. I think the general advice is little but often, you need to make sure your DD doesn't become dehydrated. Won't hurt to find out for sure from the professionals though

xmasstocking · 16/12/2006 17:29

Sammy - see mine and KZ's messages below - looks like both of our lo's are in a similar situation - Josh is projectile vomiting after a feed if he has a coughing fit. Also worried about dehydration but the little monkey won't take any water out of bottle or cup so I just succumbed and bought some juice but he won't drink that either!

KZ - thanks for reassuring me that it will pass - it is very worrying though isn't it? Hope DS's party went well if you decided to go ahead with it.

hey girls...

im on anti-ds so i cant drink...or share my bed witrh jkae so thats a bummer.

just a quick note, i only missed ONE of his jabs, just had 2 letters sent.

The nurse was going to do all three jabs in one leg i nearly smacked her! he wiggled his leg on the 2nd one ans now its a bit red...but he did give the nurse a big smile goodbye.

i hope your babes feel better soon x x

Festiveatforty - im jealous would love a nice pushchair! i am eyeing up the mclaren quest at the moment.

ImpyChica · 16/12/2006 20:15

Hi everyone

Ryan had exactly the same coughing/vomiting thing - was horrible and it takes about three weeks to really get over it. I was really worried and thought he wasn't getting enough food, but he's come out the other end of it just fine. I thinking of those of you going through it...

Good luck on the job front Twinkle - hope it gets sorted.

Felt a sharp little edge on Ry's bottom gum this morning - hurrah! After weeks and weeks of drooling and chomping on things - result! Still no rolling though - think he's just lazy like his momma! (I didn't walk till I was nearly 2 - and only then cos I was bribed with Smarties.. )

Anyway, season's greetings to everyone . Hope you all have a great time. Hugs, Impy x

Just a quickie whilst I am waiting for the Strictly Come Dancing results - DH actually just told me to come and surf on here for a bit whereas he normally grumbles if I do it in the evening instead of sitting with him - think he wants to surf Sky for a bit!

For those of you waiting for deliveries, I finally received the breastfeeding pillow I ordered from a mail order company that I won't name - bearing in mind I breastfed for 2 days and then gave up, you can imagine how long ago I ordered it - ooh at least 6 months I reckon! They kept sending me e-mails saying that they didn't have it stock and then I forgot all about it (they don't charge you until you recieve it) and it turned up yesterday!! Fortunately it is quite handy to use as a 'sitting' pillow for Josh as it is v-shaped so doesn't matter which direction he falls!

Josh managed to keep 7 oz down tonight so maybe he is on the mend - KZ - thanks for letting me know the advice that you have had previously as I cannot get through to NHS Direct at all.

Feliz Navidad to you Impy

Twinkle at your treatment from work. As if you can just drop everything and go in on Monday? Er, no chance. I know it is easy for me to say but you musn't go in hun-I do so hope that you get things sorted.

kosh-I still drank wine when I was on my AD's Just needed that extra bit of help. Still gutted about the inability to 'O' though when taking them. Hope Jake is OK after his jabs.

xmas-delivery service at its very best-not! Have heard the cushions are excellent for propping up babies

krimbo-pleased that DS got his party and it sounds like he enjoyed it.

Impy-Madrid looks gorgeous . So does Ryan-yummy boy.

Sophie is sleeping like a dream and manages without the dream feed too-hope it lasts. BF is hurting at the mo-it feels like Sophie is biting me but I just can't feel any teeth. It is the same bit that digs in whatever side I feed from

Am really fed up with how sick she is-especially all the lovely orange food. It pours out like a tap. HV wasn't worried about it though so will keep shoving clothes in the washer.

Bit of a delicate question but for those of you that have given up BF-can you bear your DH & DP's to go anywhere near your boobs? It is just that I can't stand DH going near mine as it felt like Sophie nibbling and I only want her to be on there and not DH. DH is naturally miffed off-do you think this will change when I don't BF anymore?

Better go as X-Factor results are on-ooh, Take That-yummy, yummy, yummy!

Have a good evening and hugs to everyone.

xxx

Gorgeous pics Impy!

Glad your DS enjoyed his party Kayzed ? hope Roshi?s feeling better soon.

Oops Frosty, just remembered you saying about Sophie?s pukiness on solids. Her weight sounds okay though if she?s 25th centile?

Kosh I completely forgot to take Emma for her second lot of jabs, felt v guilty at the time but it didn?t seem to matter, she just got booked in a bit later. Re prams, can definitely recommend doing some web surfing to find bargains, mine was nearly half of what Mothercare are charging (on Ebay, a bulk seller with good feedback). Kiddicare.com is also worth a look if you want a new one.

Xmas you?ve reminded me ? I?ve got one of those V shaped pillows but I never used it for bf as it was just too bulky, I?ll dig it out for propping wobbly Emma up on, just the job!

She swallowed a couple of teaspoons of baby rice tonight, hurrah! Really must do some more reading up on weaning ? have only got as far as baby rice so far, is it apples and pears next or something? I?ve ordered an Annabel Karmel book which I will read if my Amazon delivery ever arrives?

Night girls xx

maewestyemerrygentlemen · 17/12/2006 12:41

Hi all - hope all of you with sicky babies are coping ok. DS is not so settled at night now (waking once or twice for food but other times not hungry, I offer the boob but he just fusses and whinges). I went out last night and DH had only just got him down as I went out the door. DS then woke up every hr until 10, when he screamed for food. THink DH was stressed about giving the bottle, but he guzzled 5oz straight away, then slept for 20 mins before screaming and sucking down the last 1oz (I'm going to have to up the expressing a bit I think - do you still have that pump on offer KZ?).

I think some of the whinging/unsettledness may be teeth, as lots of dribbling and kind of sucking in and chewing on his bottom lip. Offered him a teether from the fridge today which was rapturously received. His gums seem to be hard and a bit lumpy, but can't see any obvious teethy bits.

Frosty - bf boobs & DH, know what you mean about the awkwardness around 'dual purpose'. We actually managed to get together last weekend, but I had to close my eyes when he went near my chest - so used to the boy being there.

FestiveAtForty · 17/12/2006 16:47

Mae ? hmmm, sucking on bottom lip is what Emma?s doing a lot ? she looks like Popeye! Will get her a teether this week to see if she likes it.

Emma?s liking her new pram, it has had a lot of indoor use so far as she prefers sitting in it to her bouncy chair ? that?s fine by me, especially as she has fallen asleep in it twice.

I?ve also noticed she does something strange (well stranger than usual) but good ? when she starts fussing at the end of a feed, if I put the dummy in her mouth when she is still down (sideways) at boob level, she totally relaxes and flops. If I wait till she?s sitting up being winded before putting the dummy in her mouth she doesn?t relax at all. Very useful for night feeds (which I?m doing lots of at the mo). Thought I?d mention it in case it works for anyone else.

TTFN x

sammysam · 17/12/2006 17:19

Shes still no better but can't be too bad as she slept 8hours last night and is asleep now but just can't keep anything down.
Hugs to all other ill LOs (((((((()))))))) Thanks for the water suggestion-did you just boil etc and is it best to syringe? Haven't yet but last few nappies have been very dry

Re boobs-can't have dp go anywhere near mine-partly as they are SO sensitive but it also feels very weird now-dosen't feel like they should be for touching now!!!!! Dp very upset about this!

Sophie is bottom lip sucking a lot too!

I always get down the bottom here and forget what i was gonna say..........bugger teh il one has just woken.....will try and get back on later .

Josh still not great today - though he is managing to keep most of what milk he is having down and not throwing up until most of it has been digested but seems to have little appetite so he is not taking much at all. Think I will go to the doctors tomorrow if he is no better - but DH keeps saying that they can't do anything which I suppose is true - just worried he is getting dehydrated. Plus he is due for his final jab tomorrow and I don't think he should have it but DH does - at a bit of a stalemate on that one at the moment! KZ/Sammy - lets hope they all improve soon and looking on the positive side, it is better this week than next week eh?

Supposed to be going on my works Xmas lunch tomorrow and they are all really excited about seeing Josh and arguing who is going to have the first cuddle etc but I think I will have to leave him at home with DH instead - am sure that will go down like a lead balloon!

Bit downbeat this post - just read it back but the good news is that Man United lost - yeah!!

OP posts:
maewestyemerrygentlemen · 17/12/2006 18:15

xmasstocking - I went to my works xmas do on Friday. DS had to come with as DH was working and nobody else to look after him. Was ok actually, he sat on my lap for most of the time, think he was a little freaked out by all the noise/tinsel! I also chatted to my boss and let him know that I'm planning to take the next 6 months as additional maternity leave (don't think he was surprised). FWIW I prob would put the jab off until your babe was feeling a little better, just my opinion

KZ - have emailed

FestiveAtForty · 17/12/2006 19:11

Xmas, Kayzed and Sammysam ? sorry to hear your lo?s are still not well. Just a suggestion in case it?s helpful, my HV said about infant Dioralyte rehydration salts if you are worried about dehydration, you can get them over the counter at the chemists. She also recommended them for hangovers!!

Re dosing, I use a bottle to give both Calpol and Gripe Water (diluted in a bit of cooled boiled water) as most of it goes down her front otherwise. She usually drinks it as it?s sweet I suppose. (Sometimes I give both at the same time if she?s very grizzly though that?s not a medically approved thing!)

Emma came to our work Christmas lunch as well and got passed round the table like a parcel ? even got taken off by the waitress at one point! She seemed to enjoy herself, as usual was much better behaved than she is at home, must be a party girl.

xmasstocking · 17/12/2006 19:36

Thanks ladies - I do really want to take him and had even bought a special Christmas top for him to wear but if he is no better in the morning, I guess it wouldn't be a good idea to take him out . If he came, he would love it as he is a 'tart' and loves being passed from person to person and cooed over! Guess we will see in the morning - he does seem to be improving so maybe another good nights sleep will work wonders.

KZ/Sammy - don't know about your lo's but Josh is sleeping really well despite being poorly - you would think it would be the other way round!!

OP posts:
xmasstocking · 17/12/2006 19:38

Sorry festive - menat to say thanks for the tip about the rehydration salts but I fear Josh wouldn't drink them as he is point blank refusing anything apart from milk - either out of a bottle, cup whatever - guess I might have to resort to the syringe tip from KZ (where can you buy syringes from??)

Yep xmas think i'll be going to the GP tomorrow-still milk going everywhere-she's really not happy. Thanks for the tip KZ will prob try and get some on way back from GP.
Getting to the point where i don't know whats best to do-keep offering her the breast (shes very hungry) and then she brings it all up or leave it for a while?
I feel so so sorry for her and your little ones-she just doesn't know whats going on poor thing
