frosty - sorry was taking so long to post, didnt notice your post. sophie is lovely, shes sitting so well in her chair

TwinkleInSantasEye · 12/12/2006 23:22

Gorgeous pics of Leo (so peaceful) and Sophie. What a clever girl sitting in her highchair?

Never heard of Doidy cups before KZ - thanks for the link.

We don't know what we're getting for Aidan yet, Beadmum (!). We've got as far as getting one of those water filled pat mats as a little extra but other than that we're stuck at the moment. We've been round the shops but nothing appeals at all. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

prettymum · 12/12/2006 23:32

EVENING!!

sophie and leo are sooo gorgeous!! can you believe it only few weeks ago they were tiny helpless little babies and now theyre sitting up and their own little person!!

junior has been very good tonight so far( touch wood) he fell asleep around 7.15 and woke at 8, fed milk and he went straight back to sleep and still is!! hopefully he will wake up once and sleep till morning!!

kz- hope roshi gets better soon!! it mustbe so frustrating!

re weight gain i have no idea what he weighs no, i will drag myself to the hv for his last jabs on thursday and get it over and done with!!

gonna go now and put myself to sleep!! need to start going bed early!!

TwinkleInSantasEye · 13/12/2006 08:40

Oh, I meant to ask yesterday. Those of you whose DCs have a tooth coming, or with older children, which came first? Aidan was screaming yesterday and biting down frantically on his fingers. I looked in his mouth and it looked for all the world like one of his first molars might be coming through - two red dots on a swollen gum area. I understood that these don't appear until about 12 months. Can't see any sign of the front incisors though. ?????????

pinktinselanddollymixtures · 13/12/2006 08:47

Morning all,

What beautiful pics of Leo and Sophie. She looks a bit lost in the highchair (still so tiny). Dear of her.

KZ- So sorry to hear about your probs with roshi again. It must be so frustrating. I hope it doesn't go on to long.

Sammy- I wouldn't worry about Sophie's weight gain. I am sure she is fine. Jasmine was 5. 12 at birth and I weighed her 2 weeks ago at 11.4. She was born on the 13th so I think that makes her 21 weeks (am I right?).
Anyway I way her every 3 weeks and every time she is only 6oz heavier. But she is bright as a button. Very alert and very active.

Well, I gotta go now as I am running toddler group for the church today. Gotta be there at 9.30 and we're still in our pj's. catch you later.

xmasstocking · 13/12/2006 08:52

Frosty/Wallace - what lovely children you have

Frosty - when you dunked Sophie, did you just do it? I really want to get Josh used to going underwater but I am scared to just do it in case he stops breathing or something (dramatic I know!) and KZ and Frosty - I am fatter than both of you (probably put together)

Re Christmas pressies - I think we are getting Josh a 7 in 1 activity thing from MOthercare - he can sit in in to start and then gradually it turns into a walker (not sure what the other 5 things are!) We originally bought the Fisherprice zoo train for him but MIL wants to give him that now and you can get extra animals to go with it. Other than that, I have just bought a couple of small toys to go into his stocking and that is it - not like he is going to remember is it??

Josh has started sleeping on his side now - so cute as he puts his arm right across his face - I have a feeling that as soon as he is in his cot and has room, he will turn right over on his stomach so I guess I don't really want to rush that as they are not supposed to sleep on their tummys are they?

Can I just ask - do other people have cuddly toys in the cot/moses basket with their lo's? I always have with Josh but I was reading somewhere that you shouldn't as it can cause SID

Pink - x posted there - Josh was born on 14th and he is 22 weeks on Friday so I guess Jazz will be 22 weeks tomorrow.

FrostytheSnowman · 13/12/2006 10:38

xmas-I just dunked Sophie and she was brill-didn't cry at all. As I said, she prepares for it now by shutting her eyes. Bless her, when we do the Grand Old Duke of York she practically has her eyes shut the whole time due to the marching up and down (we lift them in and out the water but don't dunk in this one). My friend whose DD2 was 11 months old when we started was too afraid to dunk her so left it until 2 weeks ago and now her DD screams every time. Think alot of it is due to my friend being terrified herself-she is not keen on swimming.

I also have cuddly toys in the cot as well as a cot bumper. Sophie sleeps with blankie and pink bunny and she has some more Jungle friends at the top of the cot. Eventually, when she starts moving she will play with them in the cot.

Have another migraine and dropped one of my prescription tablets and can't find it anywhere. They are like gold dust to me.

Have a good day all, must iron some clothes then do the Tesco trek. Have got some of DD1's toys out for Sophie but DD1 is intent on wrecking them.

xxx

sammysam · 13/12/2006 12:26

Sophie and leo anre so lovely! It's so amazing how fast they change and become their own 'people'!

Re swimming and dunking-do you just dunk straight down or at an angle? And how long for?

I'm feeling like a big old scruge (can't spell it!!!!!) cos we have hardly got her anything! but that mainly bah humbug dp spoiling my fun because he says everyone else is buying her loads so feels we don't have to!

Think i worked out why he is such a bah humbug-his mum stopped giving him a stocking at 5!!! I still get them now! Is that normal? 5 seams very young. And we've got mil coming to ruin our fun at christmas oh well-maybe come festive cheer will rub off.........

Soph is still squeezed in her moses basket so not much room for toys-only little rabbit!

Are everyones LOs rolling over now? DD doesn't really seem very bothered-much prefers just watching everyone-what can i do to help her?

AnnieIdeasForAnXmasName · 13/12/2006 12:26

Re dry skin, I took DD to the doc when she was only a few weeks old and she gave me an Aqueous Cream BP. Just slap it on every time I changed her. You can get it at the chemist too, 1.99 for a big tub. Works wonders. Can also be used as a soap/cleanser.

Xmas- Thanx for that. I am forever losing track of how old Jazz is. Re- toys in the cot. I have always had them in there. However, Jazz still sleeps with me so I dont think that counts.

I think Dh have decided on the amazing animal choo choo for Jazz for xmas. But we dont get our main prezzies till afterwards. We like to spend the day shopping in plymouth.

So for xmas day the girls are having stockings from us with various bits n bobs in. Jazz has got a mirror and rattles in.

Sammy- Jazz rolled over 3 times last week and not again since. I dont think she is fussed about it really.

Forgot to mention. It is the church nativity on sunday and we all have rolls. DD1 and DD2 are both angels, Dh is the Angel Gabriel, I am reading a rhyme and sign story and Jazz... Is playing the starring roll baby Jesus (best not dress her pink for that one).

pinktinselanddollymixtures · 13/12/2006 13:41

Sorry kz- cross posted.

My girls had peek a blocks when they were little they loved them. Hope Roshi enjoys them. Is she any better yet?

kbaby · 13/12/2006 13:45

TwinkleInSantasEye ? I hate those days, I hope today is better for you. Do you find the nest any good, we have one but I haven?t got it out yet.

Sammysam ? my only tip is to take a towel to the pools edge to wrap lo in when he gets out as the pool is always freezing. Also ds was 8lbs 11 born and lost lots and is now 13lbs 6 at 19 weeks, hes the same re clothes everything either fits in the waist but then is too short or the right length but too big in the waist. He also rolls to his side but only rolled from tummy to back once
Krimbo- hope roshis feeding gets better.
DecktheWallace- as long as the water is boilt then its fine to give now and the pick is lovely. Its lush when their asleep.
Frosty ? she looks so grown up, how many weeks is she now
Xmasstocking ? dd slept on her tummy from 16 weeks as she kept rolling over, hv said it was ok if she could roll herself, we don?t keep anything in the cot apart from a small comforter.

Last night wasn?t much better, ds went down at 8 after a feed and then woke every 3hrs for a feed and it took another 30 mins after the feed to get him to sleep grgg.. we seem to be going backwards. I may start weaning him early and tonight he is having ff before bedtime, its not fair on dd that I cant put her to bed as im always feeding so its now time to start weaning him off the breast at least in the day anyway. On the subject of sleep I think ds wakings are due to just wanting comfort and its annoying me that we cant do anything about it until hes 6 months I feel like were stuck with no sleep until then.

Weve got ds for xmas a sit in trike thingy which rocks for babies and then coverts to a trike you push along, its from mothercare, sames as xmas stockings but the 5 in 1, weve also got a car steering set which clips to his buggy and a fisher price kick mat for his cot.

The speech therapist got back to me and said as he is making sounds then theres nothing wrong with his ability to do it and worry if hes 6 months and not cooing/babbling

agalch · 13/12/2006 13:54

Afternoon all

Have spent today in floods of tears which is most unlike meDp is going into hospital tomorrow to have his vasectomy.I can't believe this is really it.I will never again be pregnant or bf or give birth.

We cant have anymore ffs,i mean we have 4 already. But it does kill me that that part of my life will be over and i suspect i will feel low for a while about it.

Anyhow thats all for now, just feeling a bit low atm.

pinktinselanddollymixtures · 13/12/2006 13:58

Oh Agalch- feeling really for you.

We only have 3 and I am desperate for another. Thing is I know me and I know that if I did have another i'd probably still want more. I'd love dh to turn around and say lets have another one but we want to adopt in the future and he feels that 3 pg's is enough for us.

I hope you feel a better about it soon. (big hugs)

sammysam · 13/12/2006 14:40

Oh Agalch it must feel really final-i'm not surprised you're so i'm sendings lots of hugs.

krimbo- thaks we're hoping it'll work with mil !!!

kbaby-bet you feel better now hv & speech therapist say not to worry-hes just a thinker!

Kbaby and pink-feel better to know soph isn't the only one not too bothered!

Agalch - {{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}} for you x

Kbaby - goodnews on the speech front - maybe he is just going to be the strong but silent type?

Don't think Josh is very well atm - he slept loads yesterday, has a bad cough and threw up the entire contents of his last bottle before lunch - going to give the solids a miss this afternoon and just keep him on milk today - he is also being very grumpy and whiny which is not like him. - days like this I wish DH was coming home!

figgypud · 13/12/2006 16:12

Hi all
Just a quickie will try to get back on later when Evie is in bed!

Well I guess Evie must have been ill as I woke up yest feeling awful then the dreaded tummy bug symptoms appeared, had to get dp home from work and I slept for 16 hours sure that wasn't all the bug thoLay in bed Gutted as we were due to see family today and my works do on fri, but not as aggressive as I thought feeling much better today! so hopefully still be able to go and may be able to reschedule family for weekend, will just be a squeeze! And is Evie tho she's def teething too!!

Algach: It must be sad drawing a line under something like that but like someone else said theirs plenty of other things to come!!

Great pics everyone!
Oh and re dry skin the dr gave us a HUGE tub of aqueous cream which is great or I take johnsons baby moisturisor out with us (which I use aswell!)
Right hopefully speak laters

ImpyChica · 13/12/2006 16:31

Hi peeps
Thinking of all those of you with sick LOs, Algach, and those with nightmare mils! Lovely pix of Leo and Sophie!

Someone was asking about expressing (about 100 posts ago! It's so hard to keep up). I find the quickest/easiest way is to have DS on one boob and express from other. Bit phaffy but much quicker than any other way. Doesn't take too long then I can focus on Ryan and play around with his hair or whatever.... (DP is going to freak when he sees his son's latest topiary hairstyle....got carried away with the sissors this afternoon...)

I feel like the biggest Scrouge. Just bought a Mr Benn dvd for ds for Xmas - and that's obviously more for me! I just figure it's a waste of money while they don't realise what's going on and he'll get totally spoiled as he's the first grandson all round. Might get something more for him for 'Reyes' which is the traditional present-giving day in Spain (Jan 6).

Hugs to you all and your LOs. Impy xxx
