Thanks for all the lovely welcomes.
Charlotte is my first and Im enjoying every minute of being a mum
She was born 8 days late by c-section after being induced and still only being 2 cms dilated after 16 hours, just didnt seem to want to come into this world

Think Charlotte is teething now too, she is frantically chewing her hands and has also been off her milk a bit the last few days so dont know if this is why, she maybe coming down with something.

Ive not started weaning yet but im excited about starting although by the sounds of things at least ive less washing atm

take care, speak later xx

Morning

Beadmum - what a lovely name Charlotte is (well it is my name )

Frosty - I know just what you mean about MIL's - I look at her with Josh and wonder how she managed to bring up 2 boys herself as she doesn't seem to have a clue.

Josh gets dry skin on his cheeks aswell though it comes and goes so I don't bother putting anything on it.

Is anyone else having problems getting their lo's to drink water? Josh just won't have it - when I give it to him in one of his normal bottles, he must be able to tell by looking that it is not milk as he won't even open his mouth. Have tried a Tommee Tippee drinking cup and had no luck with that either - any suggestions? His milk intake has reduced quite a lot since starting solids and I don't want him to get dehydrated.

Morning girls,

Sorry I haven't been on for a bit. Dont you hate injections. Poor Jazz hasn't slept at all well since having them on friday, and only mummy is good enough to comfort her. She is not very happy with anyone else at the mo.

She has developed a bad cold and is really snotty/snuffly and grunting like a pig when she feeds. dear of her.

Thanx for all your well wishes regarding dd1'a ballet show. It was lovely, she was just perfect. Of course, I sat there crying like a wet fish. I was such a proud mummy. She skipped passed me at one point so I waved at her and smiled. She just looked at me and stuck her nose in the air (wot a snob). No, she took it so seriously and it was lovely, lovely, lovely.

Right am gonna try and attempt to catch up with some of your posts while she is happy on the playmat. If I dissapear you know why..............

Ok so I have just finished reading all your posts since I was last on. Gosh you talk a lot. Jazz is now complaining a bit so I will try and be quick.

Agalch- I am so pleased about your farepak money, and glad you enjoyed spending it. And congrats on you for losing the weight. I was dieting but lost it a few weeks back and my clothes dont seem to be fitting so well again .

A big hello to beadmum, welcome to the thread.

Kz- How are your lo's bearing up? Its such a shame you had to cancel the party.

Figgy- How is Evie? There has been a tummy bug going around down here.

Frosty- congrats on going down a dress size. It feels good doesnt it.

Re teething - i am sure Jazz ig getting teeth. She dribbles so much and chews on everything. She has really hard gums. I was dreading bf with a baby with teeth, but i wasnt expecting she could hurt me with her gum. Her latest trick is to try and turn around and look at something while keeping my nipple in her mouth...ouch!

And on the weaning front dh wants to start on xmas day. She will be 5 1/2 months. So i dont think thats too bad.

Well i am sure you have heard quite enough from me for a bit. Have a good day. bye for now

kbaby · 12/12/2006 09:34

We had a rough night last night. DS settled ok at 8pm but woke at 10.30 and I fed him and after 4 attempts at putting him down he finally went down at 11.30 then he woke again at 1.50am and I fed him and again he wouldn?t go down, after I tried twice Dh tried but gave up and brought him into bed but he was still very unsettled and crying out each time I laid him next to me. In the end we slept half sitting with me holding him. Dh wants to just leave him cry but hes only 19 weeks tomorrow and I said im not doing that until at least 6 months old but dh has no patience with him when he wont sleep.

Figgypud- I hope evie is feeling better now, sounds like a bug to me. Same thing happened to DD fri night she was sick loads and then 2hrs later running about the house singing.
Krimbokrackerskayzed- hope they both feel better soon.

maewestyemerrygentlemen · 12/12/2006 10:02

Last night was better here - bit unsettled going down, fed him at 6.30 tried to put him down, DH went to try and settle him, then up again, tried the boob again, thought he was settled, awake again, DH settled... you get the picture. However, DS then slept until 12.30, had huge feed (for him) and slept until 6am. Think he woke me up at about 3am with his chuntering, but I vaguely remember groaning and thinking that I'd better get up - next time I looked it was morning .

Not sure how much the pudding weighs, not been to clinic for a few weeks, may go today. He's popped out of 3-6 and is now firmly in 6-9. He looks slimmer, so may have grown longer?

Better go - whingy baby...

SleepInHeavenlyPeace · 12/12/2006 10:05

welcome beadmom!

we had a slightly better nights sleep last night,, jusd as well really because DH and I had drunk rather a lot of wine!!

Have to go for a filling at the dentist now, does anyone know how long after an anaesthetic you have to wait before you can bf? Will take formula with me in anycase.

Hope all the sick LOs recover quickly, poor little things.

Gotta go, baby si grumbling!
x

Hi folks. Having a terrible day with Aidan today. The only way I can keep him amused and myself sane is to come on the computer so that's a good excuse to play on Mumsnet.

Xmas - Yes, I've always had real trouble getting Aidan to take any water. He hates the stuff. I tried one of those Tommee Tippee cups too about a week ago - he seemed interested but I've no idea if he took any or not. Good tip KZ about taking the lid off, I'll try that. What's a doidy by the way?!

Well Aidan wasn't at all interested in his baby rice today. He looked interested in the bowl etc until he realised what was in it! Don't know whether it's because it gets cold so quickly or what. I still think he is interested in food - maybe we'll have to skip the wallpaper paste.

He's just been a complete pain today full stop. He won't be left for more than 30 seconds on his mat, in his nest, in his bouncy chair or anywhere without whingeing. I think it's partly that he's getting bored with just holding and waving toys around - he wants to do things and look at absolutely everything, but he needs me to help him. That's great, just not every minute of the day! [Exasperated emotion]!

sammysam · 12/12/2006 18:31

Hi everyone!

You can't take your eyes off this without loads more posts appearing!

Sophs been a bit like that the last few days-really clingy-can't leave her for a second. Means i can't get anything done without feeling really bad

I've noticed a dry patch on sdds cheek as well-haven't done anything so far though.

Has anyone taken their LO's swimming yet?
We've kept meaning to but dp wanted to come as well and then hes been working loads so it kinda got put off but we WILL go this week!!!!
Does anyone have any hints or tips about actually going or whats nice to do in the water?

Figgy-that must be a bug-i have been told that teething can make them sick but not like that

Get well sonn to all young and old who are feeling ill [fgrin} Hugs to you all!

Sophie was 8lbs 14oz at birth then lost loads and now at 20 weeks she is just so much lighter and slimmer than everyone else-shes just made it over 14lbs. She is very long though. And for the first week in ages she only put on 2oz-does that mean i'm being a bad mummy and i shoud start weaning? or is this just an off week?
Shes in 3-6month and fills most of the length but could prob fit 2 of her in there width wise
How much does anyone elses LOs put on?

Must go....... have to eat

prettymum · 12/12/2006 18:40

tell me about clinginess!! once i put junior down, he'll watch me carefully as i move out of the room and starts shrieking!!

ive started my xmas shopping hooray!! did them all online and need to wait for them to arrive!

i might have to give both kids a bath and bedtime early!! dd is dozing off and son is grumpy and getting tired!!
hope everyone has a good evening! x

xmasstocking · 12/12/2006 19:53

Sammy - I take Josh swimming once or twice a week. He really likes it plus he sleeps so well afterwards (double bonus )

Not really sure what you are supposed to do with a baby but I use a floatie which is a square rubber ring which he puts his legs through and sits in - I do lengths whilst pushing him in it so he kicks his legs and I can swim with mine (so getting a little exercise). I also let him swim without the ring by holding him under his armpits and letting him kick his legs behind. Not brave enough to dunk him under the water though I am led to believe that you can do this with babies.

In terms of getting changed, my tip would be to take a dressing gown for you as I always want to get Josh dressed first so he doesn't get cold but used to end up having to fight my towel which I have never been able to tie round me like some people can - plus you can use the towel to stand on to soak up the water dripping off you as you don't really have time to dry yourself - the first couple of times I went, I left a pool of water in the changing rooms

Bet you are glad you asked now

Leo ended up falling asleep on his own in his cot at about 11 last night. I just popped downstairs for a sec, came back and he was asleep. Why doesn't he do that when I want him too! Had a shocker of a night mind you...

No dry skin here, apart from a bit of cradle cap (olive oil kayzed!)

Does anyone know when babies can have tap water? Leo was grabbing my cuop the other day and I gave him a sip without thinking and he loved it The water is lovely up here!

kbaby - our night was very similar to yours. Leo was unsettled lying in bed next to me from 4:30 onwards. Hell isn't it....

Took leo swimming last week and he loved it He is such A water baby (he was born in water too!)

KZ - poor roshi (and you) is it the bug do you think?

Like my christmas name?

Wallace - love the name!

KZ - Josh was recorded as being 58cm at birth but shrunk to 52cm (I think) when the HV measured him on her first visit - she explained that MW tend to measure along every curve of the baby's body whereas HV just do it from head to foot in a straight line - don't know if that is true everywhere else in the country?

I might try the doidy cup - it looks cool. KZ - did you use it with DS and did he like it?

Thanks unfortuntly it is missing the "y" offf the end!

Leo was measured as 57cm, but also shrunk to 52. The next week he was up to 54 so who knoes what was right.

New pic of Leo asleep. He fell asleep after a feed, but we had to go out - he even didn't wake when I put him down to get his snowsuit on.

Hi Girls
Haven?t posted for a while, been swamped with sorting out hundreds of photos on an internet photo website to get ordered in time for Christmas and sent out to relatives abroad - plus internet shopping, grizzly baby etc. Photo uploading took HOURS as I have been quite lax about getting prints done, but have taken what seems like billions of digital pics - I?ve now ordered about 1000 copies of them !

Re dry skin, Em?s got it on her cheeks. Wiping them with moisturising baby wipes seems to help (Pampers Aloe Vera).

Can empathise with those having disturbed nights and difficult days. She really seems to be a different baby over the last couple of weeks ? waking much more often at night and much harder to entertain during the day as well. She used to be happy to be plonked in her bouncer and would even doze off there a couple of times a day, but no longer! I?m having to work much harder to get her to nap, taking her properly to bed and stroking her head etc, and nap lengths vary a lot. If she doesn?t nap then she is an absolute nightmare, crying and grizzling for hours on end. Time for a routine I think, though it?s difficult with Christmas coming up.

Re weight gain, Emma went for weeks without putting on any, I think she converted some of her width to length though if that makes sense, as she was wearing bigger babygros I?ve decided to stop worrying about her weight and the charts, she looks fine and seems happy enough (when she?s not whingeing obviously )

KZ ? sorry to hear Roshi?s having problems again. Fingers crossed it?s just temporary. I tried Emma on the Enfamil, huge anticlimax as she refused point blank to drink it! Her expression of WTF disgust was really comical. She wouldn?t touch normal formula either as I wanted to try her on Cow & Gate, I think she must associate formula with being sick now. So it?s enforced bf then!

Well I?d better stop now, will catch up with posts properly soon
Have good nights all (yeah right!!) xx

Evening ladies

Just a quickie as got a banging headache so off to bed.

sammy-I take Sophie to a mother and baby class once a week. Took her from 12 weeks and she loves it and has learnt to shut her eyes when it is dunking time. 1,2,3 and under the sea I am alot fatter than you krimbo.

Tried to weigh her this morning but as DD1 keeps jumping on my scales the battery was lo. Might try and make the clinic tomorrow.

Wallace-Leo, bless him. Brill name change

Took this one of my little angel Sophie

Love to all

Night
