Evening ladies

Oh, krimbo-how sad poor little mite. Hope he is better soon.

prettymum-crikey, you must be shattered! And going to work too

Well, went round to SIL's to watch the last 2 episodes of Afterlife that she saved for me and who should turn up???? MIL of course. She was only there an hour and did my head in. Lordy, I must be the worst mummy out by what she was saying. So, when she started mopping up sick with Sophie's blankie I said not to do that as that is her comforter and she doesn't want comforting in sick! MIL said 'don't you chafe at me!' grrrhhh!!! And is it my fault that Sophie lays in her pooey nappy at night and doesn't cry about it so I don't know it needs changing??????? Rant over, could go on forever.

Raspberries are all very well until you are trying to feed baby food

Sophie discovered her feet yesterday and lays with her feet in the air and holds on to them.

DH sat shivering and shaking-no I can't do with it.

How do we stop DD1 coming in our room in a morning when we are trying to have a lie in. She comes in and clatters around the room and no amount of go back to your room seems to work-ho hum.

Hope all are as OK as can be.

FrostytheSnowman · 10/12/2006 19:23

Heavens figgy-if Sophie is anything like DD1 she won't be saying anything for another year and a half! She isn't saying much at all apart from 'a ghee, a ghee' which makes us smile as DD1 said the same.

Wallace · 10/12/2006 19:51

KZ - poor ds hope he feels better soon.

HC - television helps us to get a lie in LOL at the baby food raspberries!

figgy - don't worry Leo isn't babbling yet either

Santa123 · 10/12/2006 20:03

Hello all,

Prettymum - have you tried anything for LO's nose. Karvol works wonders.

Frosty - Ghee in our houshold is clarified butter, It's exactly what Kavya says, and Ikeep btelling her she can't have any coz it's very very fattening.

KZ - Hope ds feels better now.

Koshka - Great news with Jake's first word or was it a fluke. How are you getting on with your AD's?

Gotta go See Ya.

Morning Girls

MIL's,well mine lives abroad from October till April yeehah!!!! In fact she wasn't sure that they would be home for our wedding next year but they have kindly decided to do us a huuuuge favour and come home a whole week early.Really wish they hadn't bothered.

Have now spent all my Farepak money and it felt bloody great too lol.Got to get a voucher for my 2 friends who were my birth partners when i had my dd's and a voucher for my ds1's girlfriend and thats me done.

I have been on a healthy eating kick for 5 weeks and have lost weight just cutting out the rubbish. So 1lb to go and i have lost a stone.Joined Scottish Slimmers last week so as to keep me focused on eating sensibly. All good but ds2 was 11 yesterday and wanted to go to our local Chinese buffet place so was a little bit naughty

Still exclusivly bf and no plans to wean till the recommended 6 months or thereabouts.Have lots of friends/relatives saying i should because it will make her sleep thru the night.Never worked for ds2 so not doing it with dd either. Will start doing the purees in the next couple of weeks tho and build up a supply in the freezer for when i do wean her.

RE work boo hoo!!! Have had 2 enquires from potential parents. One i have minded before wants me to have her little girl who will be about 18 months. The mum is lovely but not sure i want to have an 18 month old plus my own dd's.

The other has been given notice by a friend of mine but it's 8am till 6pm and my friend only charges her 100 quid per week.Thats a massive 2 pounds per hour lol.I'd be looking for more than that so not sure she will still want a space once i have told her what the fees are.

I soo wish i didn't have to work at all.Oh well maybe i'll win the lottery eh?

Better go and wake the girls, want to make an early start on the rest of my shopping.

take care all xxx

xmasstocking · 11/12/2006 08:05

Morning - hope you all had a good weekend.

KZ - for your DS - hope he feels better and gets out on his new bike soon

Kosh - Jake sounds like a very clever boy talking already - Josh does that whispering thing - almost as if he wants to tell me something but is too shy to say it loud (a bit like me when wanting to say something in a foreign language

Frosty - MIL's - don't you just love them!! I hope that I am not like that when Josh gets married!! My MIL has been nagging about weaning Josh for weeks and weeks so, being the awkward person I am, I wanted to deliberately wait as long as possible just to annoy her - in the end, I decided that wasn't fair on Josh - now she is nagging about giving him 'proper' food i.e. meat, potatos and 2 veg!! FGS, he has only been having solids for 4 days!!!! I will have to watch her on Christmas Day I guess, no doubt she will be trying to shovel allsorts into his mouth!

Pink - how did the ballet concert go?

Agalch - big congrats on the weight loss - fantastic!!

Josh is now constipated!!Hasn't pooed since Saturday morning which is very unusual for him - is this normal when they start solids?? I have tried giving him water but he won't drink it - really don't want to dilute juice but it might be the only way he will get more liquid as he is not drinking as much milk now. Might need to try the prune juice (where do you buy that from? Do supermarkets stock it?)

Hi all,
Hope everyone is ok, and all your poorly LO's get better soon. Kayley isn't well too, all bunged up and a cough. DS has just about recovered from his bout of it.
No teeth yet, no sign either!
She was so bunged up last night, I slept on the couch with her propped up. After about 72 attempts to put her in her cot, I gave up and just sat up with her. Managed to doze off though. naughty mummy.
Started her on baby rice on Friday, she loved it the first day, but has been a bit poorly since then, so not quite so enthusiastic.

We have our christmas tree up yaaaaaaaaaaaay

sammysam · 11/12/2006 11:00

Morning everyone!

We have our tree up too-starting to feel more festive now!

Been away for the weekend and very this morning to see how mny posts there are-it'll take me days to read them!
Have scanned them-noises, colds, teeth, weaning and MIL's.

Soph making lots of noises some occasionally sound like words but didn't think they speak for ages!?
Woken up this morning and she's very snuffly so thik we have a cold here now!

No teeth here yet.

I plan on trying to breastfeed exclusively til 6 months but everyone seems to be weaning now-so feeling a bit of pressure-plus my mum won't shut up about it!!!

........and don't even get me started about my MIL!!! Everything she does or says is very subtle so i only realise what a $*%@# shes been when shes left and i think about it but that could be a good thing-god knows what i'd do

Anyway I hope eveyones feeling better and colds clear up quikly and everyone has much less distubed sleep-i really feel for you all.

maewestyemerrygentlemen · 11/12/2006 12:39

Hi sammysam, no plans to wean yet here either. I'm not going back to work in January, so hoping to bf exclusively until 6 months. Don't forget that some of the babies on this thread are a little older (am I right in thinking that you have a last day of July baby too?). Oh and just apply the 'smile and vague hmm' when anyone gives you advice that you don't intend to follow - your baby, your choice . This especially applies to mothers and MILs!

DS is a little snotty here, wants to snooze on the boob all the time. Better get comfy on the sofa then, it's a hard life

Thanks krimbo and maewest!

Almost right maewest-dd was born on the 23rd

I've been so adamant about not going back to work (although we really can't afford it) and i've stuck my heals in.......we'll just have to wait and see how it goes so luckly i'm not having to worry about that-god i don't know what i'd do-must be especially hard for those hardly getting any sleep !

Krimbo-what happened with Roshi? Are you expressing all the time?! I haven't expressed once yet-keep meaning to try-especially after i was ill and had to breast feed WHILST throwing up for 4 days! .......must do it-which pump is best?

Maewest-know what you mean-its very rare that dd doesn't fall asleep when feeding-its been a shock the last couple of weeks when she started not falling asleep and feeding went from 1hour to 15mins some times

Does anyone use re-usable nappies? Have had big palaver with choosing them and eventually after trying several decided on wambamboos-they turned up today so hopefully tomorrow we'll be on our way.......any advice anyone?

kbaby · 11/12/2006 15:23

Those of you with lo?s still waking, do you ever think its going to end. I had my xmas party on Friday and came home to find dd was up being sick so we didn?t get to sleep until 5am and I just thought, that?s it ill never catch up on my sleep now as its not even as if the next night id catch up as ds is still waking twice, im just wondering when i will ever get a full nights sleep again.

My throat is better but I have a cold now and we were at emergency gp?s Saturday with ds. He has a really wheezy chesty cough and gp said its inflammation of his airways[broncilitis virus] dd didn?t go to nursery either today as shes running a temp. so were all bored as weve been stuck in today.

Your making me all jelous with your baby sounds, poor ds does a uh or oh once a day and that?s it then, certaintly no cooing. My dad says hes just going to be quiet. Im still waiting for the hv to get back to me

Beadmum · 11/12/2006 15:26

Hi All
Can i please join your thread.
My DD was born on 9th July and would love to be able to chat to other mums with similar aged babies.
Thanks xx

kbaby - sounds like you've got a lot on your plate at the mo, hope you all feel better soon

sammysam - DS has always been a pretty fast feeder, 10 mins is about average these days. However I seem to have got into a routine of feeding when he is tired, so he goes to sleep . He stirs throughout the night but usually settles himself with his thumb and generally wakes up properly when he's hungry. He's also quite a pukey baby and seems to prefer little and often rather than larger spaced out feeds. I do have a suspicion that he feeds more when we're at home together as there's nothing much else to do. When we're out and about he can comfortably go 3 hrs between feeds.

maewestyemerrygentlemen · 11/12/2006 15:52

And welcome to Beadmum - how are you finding life with DD? Is she your first?
