Weve had a terrible couple of days, ive lost my voice and have my xmas party tonight and ds has a terrible cough and is sooooooooo grouchy, he has grizzled for the last 3 days all day. If dd goes anywhere near him he cries louder and I cant even get dressed properly because I cant put him down. On a plus side though he has only woken once at 5am for a feed although only sleeps in bed with me after that feed

Ds has now taken to rolling on his side and crying, he does it every time I lay him down, whats all that about, I mean if he doesn?t like being on his side stop rolling! So whereas he was q happy to lay on his mat now he isn?t as he rolls.

Hmm reading that back I sound miserable, sorry everyone but he just seems really grumpy and its rubbing off on me.
Im not sure if hes teething, hes biting everything and drooling all over the place.

FrostytheSnowman ? not sure, hv said she would ring us. A tip for tomatoey type stains, put them on the line for 4 days in the rain and sun, not sure how but it gets rid of all the stains. I do it with dd?s t shirts when she gets spaghetti on them.
Pink- maybe she was sick because she got overexcited, my mum said I was always like it when I was little, even on xmas day. There was a baby at our toddler group who was crawling at 4 months[looked really strange]

Morning! OK, so Aidan has zonked out on the bed. He's done this several times in the last few weeks, and also on his playmat. I'm sure I shouldn't leave him there but I don't want to wake him by moving him. WHY does he not do the same when I put him in his cot? I'm having to resort to singing him to sleep almost every time now. Are any of your LOs like this too??

Maewest - I did read my birth notes when I was in hospital but I had no idea I could have a copy if I wanted. I would really like to have another read now, to see if I've distorted things in my head. I think I'll try to contact them to arrange to get a copy. I originally wanted a home birth as well, but in the end I chickened out under pressure from family. Everyone keeps saying "oh thank heavens you didn't go for the home birth" and I nod politely. Part of me agrees, but part of me thinks I may have dealt with things better - who knows. Mind you, I don't know how I'd have managed without the pool and we wouldn't have had space here. And god forbid that I'd had to transfer to hospital in the late stages - I could hardly even move!

Sleep - Aidan's pretty loud as well now, but he does tend to be much quieter around other people thank goodness.

I've discovered why Aidan gets more easily distracted when bf. It's because when he's bottle feeding he can see things much more easily - I thought it was because he enjoyed the bottle more! (Apologies if I'm stating the obvious but I only just realised.) Yesterday, he was wanting to look at my cat, Jenna (he's spellbound by the cats at the mo - keeps pulling their fur as well) and the bottle was getting in the way. So he did exactly what he does on the breast ie suck, pull off, look around; suck, etc. - it was so funny!

Better go and check Aidan's not suffocating himself in the duvet - bad mummy!

TwinkleInSantasEye · 08/12/2006 12:05

X posted kbaby - do hope you feel better soon. Your link is going to the home page so can't see your pics.

TwinkleInSantasEye · 08/12/2006 12:07

That should have been you and DS.

Morning Girls

Hugs kbaby, can well empathise re living with grumpybaby at the moment.

Well still knackered today, she went to bed at 11pm (having not slept and grizzled all evening) and woke up for full feeds (both sides) at 3am, 6.45am and 9.15am. She has been whingey as hell this morning and it?s really doing my head in on top of my sinus headache from the cold. She needs to nap but just lies there doing that constant ?low level? cry, you know the cough-y strain-y whiney one. She always ups the volume a bit when she sees me as well! She?ll stop it if you pick her up and play with her but I know that will make her over-tiredness worse in the long run ? sigh!!

Have just tried one of her Calpol and Gripe Water cocktails (a dose of each mixed with a bit of warm water, in a bottle), it often does the trick. She?s stopped whinging but is sitting on the sofa beside me, kicking my leg repeatedly instead, grrrrrr

Okay enough whining from me ? I suppose it?s good really that she?s feeding more given her lack of weight gain. She was really cute last night when I was changing her nappy, she managed to grab hold of her big toe for the first time and was highly delighted with herself. Lol tinkersbelles at your DD biting her own toe

Re the pterodactyl noise, it?s hard to describe but it really is an unearthly sound. It?s not a communicative thing (ie she doesn?t do it in a ?chatty? way) ? she just sits staring into space, opens her mouth wide and emits this kind of loud monotone reptilian squawk Strange child?

Twinkle ? Emma fell asleep on top of our bed the other day when I was changing her and had nipped out to get something (no danger of her rolling off btw ) ? I couldn?t believe it! She also sleeps in with me after an early morning feed as it?s easier to put her dummy back in her mouth etc if she doesn?t settle straight away.

Pink ? hope your DD?s ballet performance goes okay

Oh and Prettymum, I remember the 19th July as well, that?s the day we came out of hospital. Walked home with the pram as we only live round the corner and it was BAKING. Got home and into a cold bath, then tried to cover up my jelly belly with sarongs ? not a pretty sight

Have a good day all, hope the weather improves xx

pinktinselanddollymixtures · 08/12/2006 12:40

Well, we are home from the injections. I sent dh in as I get too upset. Could Jazz screaming from the waiting room. She is now fast asleep, bless her!

Kbaby- I hope things improve for you soon hon {{{{big hugs}}}} in the meantime. I couldn't see your pics tho.

festive- {{{big hugs}}}for you aswell. I have had sinus trouble for weeks now, it does seem a lot better but still having to medicate at the mo. Hope you feel better soon.

gotta go as dh wants the computer

Afternoon ladies

In a bit of a rush as got to meet DH for lunch-if I can be bothered to speak to him! Working every night until 9pm and every Saturday and now v. pissed off with it. Dared to ask what was for tea last night-diddly squat, that's what!

Got his work's Christmas Do tonight and do not want to go due to disaster of 2 years ago.

Anyway, welcome to newbies.

DD1 was born in extreme temperatures so had iced water and flannels. Sophie was early thank the Lord just before the heat increased-phewee!

kayzed-have whizzed our Sunday Dinner up and she ate it but have tried other things and they are just too solid and lumpy. Did the roast pork last Sunday but forgot to put any potato in-was like pate so binned it. With DD1 I didn't bother until she was probably a year old so have tried to be a better mummy this time but TBH-the tins are a far better consistency for her. I can hear one of my friends tutting already don't think tins and jars is in her vocabulary-tee hee!

Crumbs-must dash as I'm meeting him at 1pm. Love to all. Might try and get on later if not will speak after the dreaded party is over-yay!

FestiveAtForty · 08/12/2006 13:21

Prettymum - no teeth yet but possibly one coming through bottom front - v small white bump. Hope Junior has a better weekend too xxx

Frosty - hope this evening goes okay, can you have a few nice glasses of Blossom Hill to help you on your way?

figgypud · 08/12/2006 18:50

OOOH Twinkle go for it The classes are great I would consider it for sure!!
Pretty: not yet saw HV wad she said teeth any day now shes biting EVERYTHING at the mo!

SLIGHT RANT ALERT!!!

Not much happening here, DP working all the hours god sends and between that and xmas things hardly see him! BUT he came home from his shift today LATE as usual put Evie on the floor to play with her and dropped a heavy weeble type thing right on her eye! I was SO and showed it too Should be more bloody careful! Going to visit all my family tomorrow (on my own!) with a baby with a big great bump if not black eye! !!!! FAB parent I'm going to look!

Talking of heat whilst giving birth! It was VERY hot in my room after 40hrs when they decided I had to go in stirrups to push! Couldn;t drink easily in this position and remember DP repeatedly wetting flannel with cold water for my heat and at one point grabbing it from me and sucking it dry I was SOOO thirsty!!! Thinking back now it was so GROSS!! Prob pure sweat NICE!!!

Speak over weekend have a good one ladies

xmasstocking · 08/12/2006 19:41

Evening ladies - how many posts today?? You have been busy!

Pretty - no teeth here either - dribbles tons and tons and gets red cheekd often but nothing else.

Kbaby - hope you both feel better soon - particularly in time for Christmas!

Festive - sympathise about hurting our lo's - this morning I put Josh on a pile of clothes, which were on top of a crate, which was on a bed - I was watching him but turned my back literally for a second and he rolled off onto the bed (fortunately trapped by the washing basket otherwise I hate to think how hard he would have fallen) but before I could get him, that moved and he fell to the floor - he was not a happy bunny!! No damage done but I felt very guilty (and stupid) for putting him there in the first place. At least you can blame your DH for the bruise - I can't!!

Went shopping for the whole day today - am knackered now - and still didn't get everything we wanted. Josh insisted on making pterodactyl noises throughout which caused severe embarrassment to DH (I am used to all the looks now!)

Just enjoying a lovely glass of wine now and looking forward to putting up the decorations tomorrow.

Can anyone advise me whether it is normal for babies to be sick more when they start on solids? Josh's sickiness has increased tons over the last couple of days.

Have a lovely evening
X

Got my MIL staying this weekend (with DH's Nana). As usual with DH's family, loads of notice of the visit i.e. phone call on Wednesday night, sigh. Had to put up with the endless repetitions of how DH was so wakeful during the night when he was a baby because (get this) he was so intelligent, she couldn't possibly give him enough mental stimulation during the day . Practising my smile and nod!

Twinkle - sounds like it might be useful for you to read your notes again. Most hospitals also offer a counselling service to discuss birth trauma, try asking your hv (if she's any good).

The heat of the summer feels a long way away now, we had the fan on full blast and lots of cold flannels. The day DS was born there was a huge cloudburst storm in the afternoon - my mum got caught in it whilst picking up my post-birth pizza! Then it was a bit cooler for a week and I spent most of the time in huge jumpers and woolly socks as I was convinced it was freezing

xmasstocking · 08/12/2006 21:07

KZ - thanks - that is what I thought it might be - that his tummy is just fuller than normal so more is coming back up - fingers crossed that is all it is

For those going back to work in Jan ( - thought this might be helpful - link

TwinkleInSantasEye · 08/12/2006 21:34

Thanks for the thread link Xmas. Don't think I'll post on it just yet though as I'm still in denial about the whole thing. I'm going back full time (they say my job can't be done part time, and they're right I'm afraid ) and it's just too horrible to contemplate at the moment. Couldn't afford to go back part time anyhow.

Oh, and so much for my doctor and HV saying solids may help reduce Aidan's sickiness! Guess I'll just have to get used to doing two loads of washing a day and having a permanently full ironing basket.

NineKoshkasDancing · 09/12/2006 10:27

Hello!

A bit woozy from these tablets!

Jake said DADA last night! He has been whipering for a few weeks like he has been trying to speak.

And also he woke me upo last night as he'd rolled onto his tummy in his cot, even with his grobag on!

Feel bad for you going back to work in Jan, but i'm already back (boooo) but i think my gp is going to sign me off for a couple of weeks (hoping)

FrostytheSnowman · 09/12/2006 20:19

Evening ladies

Well, I went out to the Christmas Party dreading it and it was fine. We had a Wham tribute band and the one pretending to be Andrew Ridgely had a phwoar factor of 100! and festive swoon. Did loads of dancing and the best bit of it is that MIL copies my every move so couldn't resist doing lots of arm waving and finger pointing etc. Am totally shattered now though.

NineKoshkas-you will soon stop feeling woozy on your AD's, they will really help you and hopefully your Doc will sign you off from the Bank. Which AD's are you on? Tell you one thing that will make you laugh-when I was on AD's I couldn't 'O' the whole time, quite devastating as that is supposed to raise your Seratonin levels Jake seems to be doing really well and you are being an excellent mummy.

Twinkle-hugs to you about the dreaded work. What a worry. ((xx))

maewest-good luck with the smiling and nodding-you are one brave girl!

figgypud-grrrhhh at your DP.

Sophie still hasn't any teeth on the way yet but DD1 got hers late. She is actually making an attempt to roll though.

Going to try and stay awake for Casualty then it's bed for me. DH been at work all day again then off to play squash with BIL at 9-40am so he will need to be up early so no lie in-grrrhhh!!

Have a good evening and love to all.

xxx

maewestyemerrygentlemen · 09/12/2006 20:33

Frosty - actually has been ok as I have just fed the boy and then handed him over whilst I go upstairs for a doze (still coping with night wakings - last night he was up and wanting to chat between 2.30 and 4.30am, not really interested in the boob so couldn't even knock him out that way [haggard eyes]).

I have also realised that DS does have a sort-of routine throughout the day, as it has been completely thrown out of whack by the visitors. OK, so it does involve him feeding every 2 hrs during the day, and boobing him down to sleep, but we almost have a recognisable pattern . Think I will insist that I get my morning walk throughout the xmas hols - DS gets a nap, I get some fresh air and the chance to get away from ILs, result! Don't know why I dislike them, as they're not that bad compared to some, just not the same as my family.

maewestyemerrygentlemen · 09/12/2006 20:33

And glad you had such a great time HC - sounds fab!

Wallace · 09/12/2006 21:49

I'll try to catch up with everything but there are soooo many posts!
maewset - poor you with ILs staying, but at least you can hand over ds and have a sleep

HC - sounds like a great night out

koska - love the christmas name - well done jake on his "dada"!

KZ - you are right about all those "b" words. when dd first started tp talk she had a load of words which all sounded like "bu" and you could only tell which one she meant by the context.

xmasstocking - i almost dropped Leo yesterday in the bathroom, if i hadn't caught him his head would have whacked right off the hard wooden corner round the bath. I had such a fright.

No teeth here yet, but can have been able to see white in his bottom gums for months, and can now feel something sharp.

Leo learned to blow raspberries yesterday which is so cute, and he finds it very amusing he also makes a "p" sort of sound as he does it so sometimes it sounds like he is saying "poo"! (amusing if you spend as much time round kids as i do

Sleeping still not too good. He will suck his dummy and it does help a bit when putting him down. but mostly he accidently pulls it out! We have decided that when he wakes in the night he can just stay in our bed for the rest of the night. Unfotunately this means he feeds a lot, but at least we're getting a bit more sleep. He is fast asleep on my lap (hence awful typing!) so I must try to put him down...

prettymum · 09/12/2006 21:55

hey all had an awful night last night!!! fell asleep on couch with junior at 10pm after him howling the place down!!!
woke at 2.00 am and put him to bed whilst i sorted myself out!!! he couldnt sleep with his stuffy nose and kept whinging!! then dd woke and started fussing and didnt get back to sleep till about 4!! i had work in the morning at 9!!!

he is now in the car seat, trying to rock him to sleep!! im soooooooooo tired, flat in a mess and im just completely knackered!!!!!!!!!! Xmas Sad

i have managed to catch up with all the messages but very tired to reply to the all (sorry)

well gonna go now and see if i can out him to sleep!!!

{{{hugs}}} to you Prettymum - hope you get a better night tonight.

Wallace - Aidan started to blow raspberries a few days ago too. He began practising it about a week ago and it was so funny listening to him trying and trying - he was so chuffed when he managed it and now he won't stop!

MaeWest - it's funny isn't it? You think you've got no routine but as you say it does really muck you up when you've got people round.

Isn't it terrifying when you nearly drop them? Aidan's had a few bangs on the head but nothing worse thankfully - actually it's a miracle cos I'm normally so clumsy!

No teeth here yet, but it can't be long surely - Aidan has been dribbling and madly chewing for weeks now.

No sign of any words here yet, he's probably too young. Unless you count an episode a few weeks ago - he had done a massive poo and as I was taking his nappy off he said what I swear sounded like "Uh Oh"!! PMSL!! And ever since he was born he has used a very manipulative cry that goes something like "Mmmmmaaaaaaaaa!" - surely designed to tug at the heart strings!
