hello all!
Went to my GP and she has prescribed Anti-Ds and told me to call work and tell them i'm not coming in this weekend, and if they have a problem with that then to call her!
She hates my place of work it's so funny.

The pills make me a bit woozy but apart from that im ok (only had then since tuessday)

Welcom Sammysam...every time I see your name it spooks me cos thats my name!

Sleep - hope dentist goes ok.

Everyone and their AF...i'm taking the pill and too scared to have a break as they are so painful I can't walk !

Santa123 - As the only person I think who FFed her LO sice day 9 - i think its ok you've done what you want and your baby will be ok. Oh and Kavya what a lovely name

Feel bad for everyone with sleeping through trouble, jake goes from about 11-9 ish but i used to have him in bed with me if he woke earlier but now i cant as im on medication.

I have finished my christmas shopping - itt wasnt too hard I just bought a couple of things from the sales earlier in the year and a book for my mum so she can put pictures in. Justr need to finish my cards but thats difficult as I cant do it when jake is around

Hi Girls

Good to hear from you Kosh, great that your doctor is being supportive Hope you get on with the anti-D's, I think they can make a real difference when you are on the right ones.

Frosty ? sympathies on the chenille, after many fallings by the wayside I now have a ?just say no? policy where it is concerned ? the sorry truth is that it is an evil fabric. So much tempting fluffy gorgeousness, so much fluffy crud everywhere Xmas Sad

Lol at the grey sleepsuits Kayzed. Emma now has one grey bootie and one white as they got separated in the washing basket - an interesting look though

Welcome tinkersbelles Glad things are going better for you now, must have been very difficult dealing with the first few weeks Xmas Sad

Welcome Sammysam
at losing half a nipple!! Also how scary having to be carted off in an ambulance. My DD had the cord round the neck thing too (5 times ? I?m just showing off now aren?t I ) so also got distressed and had the ventouse etc but luckily I was already firmly esconced at the hospital (having been induced) so didn?t have to go anywhere.

Kbaby ? hope you get some reassurance soon . Emma?s not terribly vocal (except when she?s tired and we get the pterodactyl croaks, don?t know if they count?!), She just sits and stares at things with wide eyes a lot of the time, especially when we are out as well.

Bought some baby rice yesterday, strangely emotional moment. Although have to say that my enthusiasm for bf is being tested now, hitching your top up gets more difficult (and chillier) in the colder weather! And it?s just so tedious dealing with fussing and slow let down when it happens, fortunately it?s not at every feed. Won?t try the baby rice till have had a go with the Enfamil though, probably this weekend.

She?s sleeping better now (11.30pm to 5-6ish), must have been her cold that was keeping her awake, it?s nearly gone now apart from the cough. I have such respect for those still getting up several times every night, I don?t know how you keep it together, I have been so shattered just doing it for a week and I appreciate how lucky we have been (so far anyway!).

Well I?m going to have a quiet day indoors ? I?ve got the dreaded cold now and can?t face going anywhere, grrrrr

IamBlossom · 07/12/2006 13:19

hey girls.

Welcome Newbies, and big hugs KBaby, sure he is fine in the long run, and you will look back on these early days and think you were worrying for nothing, but I'm sure it is concerning. Maybe it's just cos DD was so advanced that anyone would look slower in compariosn?

Good news on the ADs Kosh...

KZ, he went through again, 12 hours! Really not realising the benefits of it though unfortunately as DS1 was awake at 4am this morning!!!!!!!!!! Getting beyond a joke now.

Had a great morning though, went to a christmas party at playgropu and FC was there etc.

Hi there everyone,

Welcome to the newbies

The weather is awful isn't it?

Zack is still no better at nights and after keeping really positive about it I'm now beginning to get down about it. A good night he wakes up 3 times but he normally wakes at least 4. He never stays in bed after 6.30 either. Apart from 3/4 odd nights he has been doing this for the last 11 weeks and I am knackered.
I'm fed up of thinking maybe he will be better tonight and being disappointed every time!

We are continuing with the weaning and yesterday he had quite a large amount of baby rice and seemed to really enjoy it. I think I will start with some veg soon.

Better go I have some work to do
x

ImpyChica · 07/12/2006 15:00

Hugs KBaby. As Blossom said, it'll probably be something you'll look back on as being a worry about nothing.... it must be scary though. Thinking about you.

I had a c-section too. I was induced and it didn't go quickly enough so they decided to whip DS out. All very chilled though - I was talking about the World Cup with the surgeons...

I got 8 hours consecutive sleep from DS the night before last then last night he was up every couple of hours coughing.... ho hum. I wish he'd shake this cough - he's had it for weeks poor love. Got some drops that don't seem to do much except cause him more distress cos of their hideous taste... He had his four-month jabs (a month late) today and seems even more out of sorts. Hopefully it's just his gums giving him grief - he's drooling loads and keeps wanting to chomp on things.

Might try and grab a quick siesta to re-charge batteries after a busy morning at work...

Hugs to all. Impy x

xmasstocking · 07/12/2006 17:16

Welcome Tinkerbelle - your lo is 3 days younger than my DS - sorry that it was so traumatic for you but glad everything is ok now.

Sleep - when you say that Sefton had trouble with his digestion, what do you mean? It is just that Josh has been 'possetting' loads more today and wondered if it was connected to his baby rice? BTW the pear puree went down a treat today so def no more baby rice!!

Sammy - I am exactly the same as you in that I am scared to change Josh's sleeping routine in case he starts waking up - though I have had it so easy compared to everyone else on this thread, I feel guilty even worrying about it. Josh started sleeping through from about 3 weeks but he is really getting too big for his crib now but I am scared to move him into his own room. We have only just started putting him upstairs in an evening over the last couple of weeks and even then, we wait until he has fallen asleep before we do that - much to my mum's disgust (apparently me and my siblings were all tucked up in bed by 7 and she never heard another peep from us!)

Pretty - I remember that 'hottest day of the year' well - I had just come out of hospital and trying everything to keep me and Josh cool - ha!!

Impy - I remember talking to the anaesthetist (sp?) about the cricket as there was a test match on and they had it on the radio in the theatre - very appropriate as DH is absolutely cricket mad and I am sure Josh will be learning to bowl before he can walk! Only right that the first thing Josh heard was cricket commentary

tinkersbelles · 07/12/2006 17:54

I too remember the hot hot hot days. Sat in SCBU next to incubators alarming because they could not be kept cool enough even when switched off and all the lights off. Turned out a week later that the air conditioning hadn't been working !!! The poor nurses were walking round with ice blocks down their tops !!!!!!! At least I was in my PJ's !

pinktinselanddollymixtures · 07/12/2006 18:03

hi everyone,

Welcome to the newbies on the thread.

Well it was opening night for dd1's ballet last night (you know the night after she got so upset). She never ended up going. She had been complaining of a tummy ache and I put it down to her being worried that I wouldn't come to pick her up. So we got her dressed and put her ribbons in etc. Anyways not long before we were due to go, she threw up everywhere.

We put her straight to bed where she fell asleep immediatly. Think is she is fine today. So I am sure that she worked herself up over being left the previous night. Grrrr! they spoiled it for her. She has another performance on friday, to which we are all ging. So hopefully she will be ok. But I am not going to force her to go. Dear of her.

And guess what! Jazz rolled over today. From her front onto her back several times. Still no good at sitting though.

I saw the weirdist thing the other day. At toddler group there is a baby 8months old, not much bigger then Jazz and she can walk if you hold her hand. Has been crawling since 6 months and she's so tiny. Its looks so funny.

Well madame has just woke up and is whinging at me so gotta go. Hope everyone is ok. Bye for now.

Hi all

Welcome sammysam!! some details of my birth here
Don't think I've ever really talked about it on this thread as I was the 1st (17th June) & didn't want to scare ppl
and welcome tinkerbelles!

PINK: Clever Jazz YEAH!!!
TWINKLE: Haven't heard of jollybabies but we go to monkey music and its fab, Evie loves it!! Don't know if there's one of these close to you?
KBABY: Good luck with the speech therapist, I'm sure all will be fine! We've already seen one for reassurance as DP has quite a bad stammer and wanted advice whether genetic or not! They were really nice!
KOSH: Hope the anti-D's help hun!
TINKER: Mine was a small babe to 4lb6oz! For sleep the only things I found which helped were a clear bedtime routine and making sure she got enough daytime naps! Evie kind of fell into her own pattern though! Must say definatly better once we started solids! (just so you know there is light at the end of the tunnel!)

I go to loads of groups, def found some were cliquey though just didn't go back! I only moved here 2 and a half yrs ago tho!
Evie had FINAL jabs on Wednesday! YEAH (5th lot no less) so have a break not until the MMR!!
Not much else happening on camp janenevie really!

Sorry bout pic don't know what happened! Will post some more another day

Evening all - welcome Tinkersbelles .

Sammysam - think you asked about birth stories, link to mine here . It's a bit long sorry . Felt a bit teary reading it just now, seems like a very long time ago. Think you also mentioned that your DD is still in moses basket. DS is pretty big (about 17lb and long) and up until a week ago was crammed into his basket. Finally moved him into the cot in a sleeping bag last weekend. Keep seeing him stretch out his arms in wonderment at all the space, lol. We've put the cot up in our room tho, doesn't leave much space, but as I'm still feeding at night its much easier and snugglier to take him into bed.

Kbaby - hope you get some reassurance about your DS and his noise making.

Festive - DS has just started with the pterodactyl noises too! Maybe he learnt them from Emma? He gets really insistent sometimes, is really funny.

I'm all alone tonight as DH is out on the lash with his works xmas do. He's pretty much a hermit most of the time, so don't mind too much.

figgypud · 07/12/2006 19:58

Maewest: What a lovely birth story!!!!!!!

BTW meant to mention, Got Evie weighed Wednesday too shes now 13lb 12.5oz at 24 weeks!

tinkersbelles · 07/12/2006 20:09

Had my DD weighed on Monday (20wks). She was 11lb 3oz, a HUGE increase from her birth weight of 4lb 13oz only 20 weeks ago ! We're not that far behind you ! Feeling very proud of myself weightwise at mo as BF. even though HV said "bet you're really upset she's not on any centiles" !! Good job I'm not as that could have made me feel even worse !!!

figgypud · 07/12/2006 20:11

Tinker: What a t*at you're HV sounds! Why would you be upset about that!?! Honestly!

tinkersbelles · 07/12/2006 20:19

It wasn't my normal HV, they're both on holiday at moment. Don't really want to see this particular HV again as dread to think what she might say next time........ maybe, "fancy only gaining 8ozs a week, are you definitely feeding her often enough ????? " !!!!!! Another mum was there whose DD had lost an ounce (in a week, gaining every other wk, BF as well)and she basically told them they were starving their DD by not waking her in the night to feed her..

maewestyemerrygentlemen · 07/12/2006 20:22

Tinkers at your HV, your babe has more than doubled birth weight at 20 wks, don't see any probs with that!

Figgypud - thanks, can't believe it was really me, I'm pretty wussy normally

Oh yes, the heat. It was over 30 degrees in the delivery room when I had Aidan. The ice chip machine was broken so I had only luke warm water to drink. And they closed the windows in anticipation of Aidan coming out, about an hour before he was actually born!

Figgypud - I remember reading your thread before I signed up to Mumsnet and posted my own. Sounds horrific - hope things are getting better for you now.

Sammysam - link to some details of my birth here

Maewest - how amazing to have written your birth story down like that in such detail. I think I might try that myself whilst I can still remember some of it, as there were some good bits too. It's great that you have such positive memories - it depends so much on how people treat you. Did you find out why they had an ambulance on stand by? (sorry if that's too nosy!)

I'm curious about these pterodactyl noises - are those the ones that sound like they're going to give themselves a really sore throat? If so, Aidan's started doing them too,

TwinkleInSantasEye · 07/12/2006 22:50

Figgypud - I just checked out the Monkey Music website. No classes in this area unfortunately but they're looking for franchisees! Could be a business opportunity for me! I've got a musical background and I'm desperate to get out of my current work area - watch this space!

tinkersbelles · 07/12/2006 23:32

I'm assuming the pteradactyl sounds are those that DD makes when I think she's gagging or heaving or trying desperately to be sick !!!! She ssems to open her mouth really wide and make her tongue into a strange shape then this weird screachy noise comes out !!!!

PMSL tonight, she decided to grab a hold of her R foot and shoved it into her mouth and chomped on her big toe, making herself cry !!!!!! At least now she's realised it does hurt.... maybe I won't get too many more bruises/lovebites !!!

pinktinselanddollymixtures · 08/12/2006 07:58

Morning everyone,

How is everyone this morning?

Tinkers- Your LO sounds similer to Jazz. She was 5.12 at birth and had her weighed last week (20 weeks) at 11.4. At the moment she is only gaining about 6oz over 3 weeks. So am sure your hv would have a field day with me.

However, my hv is being quite supportive. Jazz is just about to drop off the centiles so they are keeping an eye on her but...hv says she is soo alert there cant be anything wrong with her. She is just defying the charts.

I am sure it is the same with your lo

Besides...Between you and me I dont really tend to listen to HV's that much, especially ones that sound like yours.

Re- Baby noises. Jazz has started sticking her tongue out as far as she can and kindda making an arrggghhh! sound but smiling big time so I know its a game.

Have got her 3rd set of injections today (sounds like i'm a bit behind some of you on them). Hopefully she wont have bad effects from it.

Also dd1's ballet performance again tonite. Thats if she doesnt puke all over the carpet again. You know it still really stinks in here.

Well, I think you have heard quite enough of me this morning. Will read some of your posts later. Bye for now.

Pink

maewestyemerrygentlemen · 08/12/2006 08:57

Twinkle - have you read your birth notes? Even tho you have to give them back to the hospital you can request a copy. Think they keep them for about 20 yrs, you may have to pay an admin fee, but under data protection act you are entitled to read them. I still had my notes with me when I wrote my story, so was able to refer for times etc, but as it was only a few days after the event it was still pretty fresh in my mind . Re the ambulance, think it was just my mw getting a little twitchy as I had been pushing for over an hour and DS was moving down but slowly, also I was exhausted and only had the energy for very small pushes. Also DS had turned a little out of optimum position (was not back-to-back, but not quite right) so had further to twist IYSWIM. He also had the cord round his neck, remember when his head was out mw saying 'stop pushing' and disentangling him, then telling me one more push for the body (to which I replied something like 'you said that last time!'). I think if I had not been in such a supportive environment things could have been very different, and prob would have ended up with more interventions.

morning all!!

the kids have the cold again!!GRRR junior was up god knows how many times because of his poor nose!!!! i took them out shopping yesterday in that horrendous weather!!

kz- its lovely seeing siblings learn to play with one another!!when i try and have a lie in , dd will lie in the bed and hjave a baby conversation with junior!! its so funny to watch!!

pinktinsel- junior is yet to have his 3rd jab, probably get it next week! im just being lazy here, last time had to wait 2 hours!!

junior makes two kinds of noises, one were he tries to converse with us and another before he goes to sleep where he'll gurgle from the back of his throat!

better go and do motherly duties!! hope evryone has a nice day!!

SleepIsForTheWeak · 08/12/2006 11:32

hi all,
DOnt have time to read all the posts!!!
DS was also born duting the heat wave - no a/c at the hospital.

Sefton's sleep is still awful (How are you UsAndOurLittleXmasCracker?) he was up at 4am to be fed, changed, and the decided to stay up and play - until 6am!!! On the up side, his day time naps are getting longer, sometimes even an hour!

as far as making noise goes - he is SO LOUD. People say things like "very vocal, isn't he?" but looking shocked / perhaps annoyed by it. He does this high pitched squeak, as well as general gibberish but at maximum volume.

SOrry to those of you suffering with colds. DH had one last week, so it is probabky a matter of time before we have it ho hum.
This weather is really getting me down now....

Have good Fridays!
