Hi all, what with all the mn troubles and being on holiday with limited internet I haven't been on much. Hope you're ok Monkeybabies111 as your post was removed.

Sun has finally come out here! Sling only walking has been fine as we couldn't fit the pushchair.

Monkeybabies111 · 29/08/2015 13:45

Cinnamon I got it removed I've not been in a good place and trying to not post a lot.
I'm glad your enjoying your holiday and you've got some sunshine.

cinnamongreyhound · 29/08/2015 21:49

That's kind of what I figured. Hope things are improving and you've had some better news about your family Flowers

Monkeybabies111 · 29/08/2015 22:44

We're still not sure the full extent they find out next week they are hopeful though.

PenguinPoser · 01/09/2015 09:14

Hi everyone (if there's anyone there!) sorry I've been absent for a while I got locked out and multiple password changes later here I am Grin
How is everyone?
We have started weaning here - she's almost 6 months I can't believe it. Just doing one small meal a day at the moment. Feels very strange!

Hi, I'm here. Haven't posted since my last post as there weren't many replies! We had a lovely break last week but I'm struggling this morning. I feel genuinely like I can't deal with anymore bad things happening! We are going car searching today but will have to add more money to what we are getting from the insurance. Dh wants me to claim personal injury so we're disagreeing about that at the moment!

How is weaning going? Is she enjoying what she's having so far?

PenguinPoser · 01/09/2015 09:51

Pleased you had a nice break cinnamon but sorry things are still hard otherwise. Car insurance is a pain as you can rarely get the same type of car as was written off for the money they they pay out. In terms of personal injury I can see why your DH is saying that but IMO if you aren't injured then you shouldn't claim - but if you are then fair enough. Hope you're ok though!

Weaning is going ok - it's only been 3 days of morning porridge so far and some days she's eaten more than others. But I'm just letting her have as much as she wants and not going to force it just go at her pace. She does smile and play with the spoon and seems to enjoy it. Hoping to try some mashed veg next.

I've been watching but found I'm best not posting to much it trying not to.

Cinnamon sorry everything for you is so stressful right now, I hope you can find a new car that you like today.

Penguin glad the weaning is going well, it's gone by to quickly I'm still not ready to start but I'm sure dd will love it when we give it ago on Friday.

cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2015 14:15

I'm waiting until our consultant apt on 17th sept when he'll still only be 5 months and a week to think about it as I just want to check if I need to do anything special due to his kidney.

The pi people say it's not for injury but discomfort and distress and £4000 is set aside per person involved in any rta. My back still hurts but it's not stopping me doing anything so I don't want to claim but I don't think dh will forgive me! He says with the inconvenience and stress it's caused I should claim it, I disagree!!!

PenguinPoser · 01/09/2015 17:20

I do see his point cinnamon and obviously the money would be useful. I'm not sure my conscience would let me - a few years ago I had a no fault accident and didn't claim as I was thankfully fine - but your DH is right about the inconvenience etc so I wouldn't think badly of you if you did! Who couldn't use £4000 after all. My other thought is that's the reason our car insurance premiums are so high!

Hope you're doing ok monkeybabies. I felt the same about weaning and didn't want to initially but I felt she was ready and just seeing her face when she's eating makes it all worthwhile!

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2015 17:40

I also raised that point about premiums with him and his answer was you not claiming wont make a difference! Just wish it didn't cause so much tension, there are many things I chose to do differently to many people because I believe in doing the right thing and I feel the same about this. Anyway something I have to deal with, can't change how differently we both feel.

Monkeybabies111 · 01/09/2015 18:28

I'm ok had a bad week were I hit rock bottom and I've been jumping between moods for the last week I think I'm starting to win the battle but I do need to stop complaining as when I start I then get paranoid about it.

I think i selfishly wish that she wouldn't turn 6 months as I've only been bf for under 2 months of that time but I think she is ready and there's no point delaying it past then.

Cinnamon that seems really tough, I wouldn't feel comfortable claiming either so I think your doing the right thing but I wouldn't think badly if you claimed for what they are saying.

Wineandchoccy · 01/09/2015 23:07

Hiya I've had a busy few days so not been able to catch up on here.

I can't believe some of you are weaning already, our babies are growing up far to quick!

cinnamon I hope you are ok and manage to get a new car sorted.

We go on holiday next week so I've a busy week sorting everything out plus it's dds christening when we return.

PenguinPoser · 02/09/2015 05:15

I know what you mean monkeybabies but you can hopefully still carry on breastfeeding as normal - if you want to. The small amounts of food I've been giving don't seem to be affecting the amount of breastfeeds at the moment. We tried carrot last night - dd was not impressed! So sorry you're still having a really rough time monkeybabies. Not sure what's going on with your DP etc now but I hope you are having the support you need Flowers

Wineandchoccy hope you have a lovely holiday when you go! I've recently been away and travelling was better than I imagined. It's my DDs christening in a few weeks too Smile looking forward to it. Which reminds me I need to contact the place we are having the reception afterwards and sort out the food etc!

Monkeybabies111 · 02/09/2015 08:01

Aww carrot, that's what I thinking of starting with, i might re think that.

Wine I hope you have a nice time away, we are traveling at the end of the month for a fundraising event I'm not looking forward the the journey.

Dp has changed he's now taking the kids for hour a day to let me relax and took them out at the weekend as I needed some time to myself so we've turned a corner.
It's only me and dd today as Dp and ds are away on a nursery outing although I expect them back by lunch time rather than 3pm I'm taking dd out a walk to run some errands.

I hope you all have a good day.

PenguinPoser · 03/09/2015 03:51

We tried some mushed peas yesterday and she wasn't overly impressed either. She loved sucking on a bit of melon though. Need to persevere with the veg.
I'm tired. DH has been tossing and turning keeping me awake now dd is up (and DH sound asleep!!) we tried new bedtime routing last night to try and get her to self settle but it didn't work :( will try again tonight.

OP posts:
Monkeybabies111 · 03/09/2015 06:01

So sorry you had a rubbish might penguin I hope you can get spoke rest today.
I've heard it can take up to the 3rd try of food for them to enjoy it (don't quote me on that though).

We were up most of the night here to, today's our last day before weaning still can't make up my mind on what she's having but it will be after her water babies class tomorrow.

cinnamongreyhound · 03/09/2015 06:32

Sorry you didn't get much sleep PenguinPoser! If I remember rightly it's 5 times to try something new sleep wise before not trying it again but may be wrong. I never gave mine peas as I was told you should use a muli (sp) and never wanted to buy one! Try a combination too, squash is good and don't forget a lot will need to be tried many times. Puréed veg is quite intense, I remember trying carrot for the first time and thinking wow that's really carroty iyswim

PenguinPoser · 03/09/2015 09:32

Thanks it's reassuring to know she might like it if we keep trying! Cinnamon I don't know what a muli is but I definitely don't have one! They weren't full peas - I have a few sachets of cow and gate pure veg purée (hadn't planned to use any of them but free sample so why not!) and I see what you mean the peas are very.... Peay!!

OP posts:
Monkeybabies111 · 04/09/2015 03:38

We've been up most of the night here, dd has had a tickly cough that's been annoying her and now has her temperature is 38.7 so calpol and cuddles until it goes down as she looks like she may be going back to sleep now.
I will hold off weaning her I think as I don't want to give her solids until she is 100 percent.
I hope everyone else has had a better night.

PenguinPoser · 05/09/2015 15:03

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Did you start the weaning in the end monkeybabies?

OP posts:
Monkeybabies111 · 05/09/2015 16:22

I've tried her two days in a row with porridge and she's not having it at all.
I am going to try something different tonight but I've still to make up my mind on what.
How's your dd's weaning going penguin.

PenguinPoser · 05/09/2015 19:22

It's going ok actually monkeybabies! She likes porridge, and we've been trying some veg too. Yesterday was some carrot and parsnip mash and today was mashed broccoli - she liked that which I was surprised by. I think keep persevering but offer stuff don't make her eat it (not that you are anyway!) then eventually she will like it. I think cinnamon said the other day that it takes a few tries before they're likely to like things. I've also tried quarters of tinned pear (in fruit juice not syrup) and she loves them but have to be careful she doesn't get massive chunks in her mouth. It's quite fun actually now that we have started!

OP posts:
Monkeybabies111 · 05/09/2015 20:01

I never got to try anything else tonight she's got a temperature so i will try again tomorrow.
That does sound like your off to a great start.
I think I will offer porridge one last time tomorrow if not ds seems to like it (he seems more interested than her) so it won't go to waste.
I'm thinking of trying sweet potato and carrot for lunch/dinner tomorrow that will be her first proper meal if she takes it, I don't force her she just doesn't want to take it but I might get dp to try incase it's me.

cinnamongreyhound · 05/09/2015 21:21

It's something scary like 20-30 times of trying/seeing/being exposed to penguinPoser!!! Shock a muli it a weird cone thing that you use to push things like peas and corn through to make a purée without the husk bits.

We volunteered at parkrun today so he's had loads of attention and cuddles then we went to pick up our new car and to Norwich to try and find the last dragons before they're taken away, only managed 71 out of 84 but not bad.
