Our babies are nearly half a year! Where on earth has the time gone?

Just curious, how many naps are your lo's getting durin the day?

September60b · 17/09/2015 18:36

It varies to be honest bigfam! Really she still needs 3 naps but sometimes she can get away with 2 if they've been long ones. She usually naps around 9, 12.30 and then needs a late one (sometimes as late as 5pm!) but she just gets so ridiculously tired by the end of the day.

Alyx80 · 17/09/2015 21:35

Q is napping twice a day at the minute, it can really vary in length though! The other day he napped 2 hours from 9am and another hour about 2pm but yesterday he only had 30 mins in the morning and 10 mins in the afternoon! He is going to bed around 7.30pm and sleeping until about 6.30am ish - he is my best sleeper by far! Ds1 was dreadful at this age lol.

I think i have a blocked duct which is really hurting. He didn't feed much before bed on Monday and I woke engorged and now it hurts! Feeling very sorry for myself lol

September60b · 18/09/2015 11:56

Ouch Alyx that can be so uncomfortable! Hope it clears for you soon!

Dd has been napping for 10 mins in the morning this week which is really frustrating! She's exhausted by about 5pm these days but goes to bed around 7.30. Shame she doesn't sleep for even half of the night but I keep telling myself that she will eventually when she's four.

bigfam · 18/09/2015 13:11

At the moment the baby's sleeping better than my (nearly) 4 year old sept lol. And the climbing is now becoming dangerous, now i know what it means to need eyes in the back of you head

Alyx80 · 18/09/2015 20:32

Wow bigfam, can't imagine them on the move already. Q stays where I put him at the minute which I'm grateful for! Although ds1 crawled at 8 months, the other two were closer to 12 months so I'm assuming Q will be similar. The older three have walked at 12,14 & 16 months so I wonder if Q will carry on the tradition and go for 18 mths lol.

Have managed to clear the boob blockage last night so feeling much better tonight although have a rotten cough and Q Is very snotty and coughing a lot, hope he sleeps well but I don't think he's going to unfortunately!

bigfam · 19/09/2015 08:52

Glad to hear your boob is better alyx, we've all got colds here. Think the baby's is in part due to her tooth still hasn't come through yet. I will try and get a pic of her standing with aid of the sofa, she thinks it's so clever but has no balance at all so i spend most of the time sat behind her on the floor!

bigfam · 19/09/2015 10:17

Here's little miss clever, her balance seems to have improved.

Looking at this pic and seeing her doing these things has made me a little emotional, my tiny baby is gone Sad

September60b · 19/09/2015 19:48

Ahh bigfam, she's such a cutie! Dd is trying to pull herself up on anything here too. She's taken a tumble today and bumped her head on dh's watch so he feels really bad tonight!

Dd has been ill this week too so she's taken to feeding to sleep and will only nap on me again. It's like having a newborn again which I have secretly loved.

I have been checking out nurseries this week for when I go back to work which has upset me more than I thought it would. I can't imagine leaving her and keep thinking about how confused she will be Sad. I know it will be good for her though as she's already getting bored with just me now.

Dec1314mummy · 19/09/2015 21:48

Sorry for my absence! I started work again at the start of the month and it's been manic to say the least. I think I have just caught up with everyone!
bigfam your dd sounds very similar to mine, crawling, cruising but no teeth! She has a cold at the moment (as does everyone in the house). She's been really good considering but both dc have been clingier with it, which isn't surprising.
sept I'm sure once you have got into the routine you will be fine. It isn't easy and I have 1 day a week I am at work so long I don't see the kids at all. That I find really tough, but I do enjoy the stimulation that work brings. I'm also lining my weekend time with them as I value every second!
Dh really wants another, I seriously don't think that I can though! I just feel things are finally calming down with sleep and the fact we actually get more than 5 minutes together. Plus the children are so happy just the 2 of them! They love each other so so much!
Hope everyone else is well!

Dec she has 2 teeth at the bottom which didn't really cause many problems, but her top one is causing loads of problems, her gum has been really swollen for over a week now, i can see the tooth but it's just being stubborn! Hats of to you for going back to work, what with having little one's as well. Hope your lo's get over their colds soon too, the weather atm doesn't help at all.

Alyx80 · 20/09/2015 22:18

Had Q weighed today, he's now 23lb 6oz the little chunk :). His cold seems to be much better, it's just me that's coughing now!

bigfam · 22/09/2015 15:53

Speaking of little chunks, josie doesn't stop eating! She loves these horrible puffs (like wotsits) except they're fruit flavoured, and they are horrible. I must admit I do like farleys rusks with milk warmed up though Grin

bigfam · 22/09/2015 17:19

She's (rather annoyingly) learnt that the huggies baby wipes rip, so sits there happily pulling them apart. He she is hiding behind the curtains covering them in shepards pie whilst eating her tea!

Pesto11 · 23/09/2015 11:00

Aww peek a boo Josie!

Dd is babbling so much this week -really noticed how quickly she's changing this week.

sept is dd still breastfed? Does she take bottle ?
My dd won't touch a bottle and I was hoping to go back to school after half term - don't know what we are going to do?!?
She's now refusing water which isn't helping her bowels at all!!

Does anyone use Ewan the sheep?
I'm desperate to try anything that will help night times

September60b · 23/09/2015 19:27

She's still breastfed Pesto and like your dd she won't take a bottle! That sounds so stressful for you. Do you think she would take it from a cup/beaker? Someone told me to get dh to try her with ebm from a beaker but to leave the house as apparently it's harder if you're around?

Ella's kitchen do a prune pouch which I found was very ahem, 'effective' when dd was a bit bunged up!

Dd has been ill this week so she's been really clingy. Her naps are all over the place too. She'll only nap on me or in the pushchair while it's moving so I've been for lots of walks!

Hope mums and babies are all ok!

Pesto11 · 23/09/2015 20:07

She won't have any pouches cz the texture is too smooth! Very particular!
It's ok I give her a plum or peach and find that helps but the lack of liquid does worry me... She is still breastfed almost very 3 hours so not the end of the world.

We've tried many bottles and teats and cups including a doidy cup but no luck! We are keeping Boots in business!
She cried on/off for 3 hours and hardly drank an ounce when I left her with mum...I sat outside the house! Maybe I need to go further!

She will eat food from mum but no liquids shall pass her lips!
She's had a cold and runny nose for a few days too :( avoiding too many trips out n about but going mad in the house!

bigfam · 26/09/2015 07:01

Isn't it nearly time to start a new thread? Shock
Can someone create one then post the link, i'm not computer savvy enough. Blush

Pesto11 · 26/09/2015 09:01

I think it goes up to 1000 messages /40 pages so still a while yet

We have more teeth coming through at the top - no.s. 5 and 6- so no sleep last night!calpol didn't help either !

bigfam · 26/09/2015 15:53

Grin silly me. We're still waiting for the 3rd tooth, i can see it along with only what i can describe as a hole in her gum, i think it might be the actual tooth. The 4th will soon follow, as can see that one as well.

bigfam · 27/09/2015 14:22

She's developed a new smile. It involves opening her mouth as wide as she possibly can Hmm
Is anyone still using white noise apps to settle their lo's? I tried to get her to sleep without it the other night and she wouldn't settle and then when i tried turning it off during the night she woke up until i put it back on!

September60b · 27/09/2015 19:08

Bigfam I stopped using white noise ages ago but as you've reminded me it might be worth a try for my terrible sleeper! Sleep is still rubbish here. She's clearly teething but still no teeth!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend? My dh has some time off next week and I have to say I'm really looking forward to some help.

bigfam · 27/09/2015 19:57

Give it a go sept, it might just work. I've grown to love it as well to be honest! Blush

bigfam · 27/09/2015 20:49

About time, the third tooth is through at last
