Well panic over- I think. I turned on my phone before and it works but dh told me off and said i'd switched it on too soon and need to put it back in the rice until tomorrow morning. So still phone less!

My friend is having a baby in a few weeks and I promised her my sling and she wants it when I see her next week. Im being all silly and feeling upset that that part of his babyhood is over. Hes too big for it now and I haven't used it in a few weeks but I did put him forward facing in it today but he was a bit too heavy to walk for any length of time but I cant help feeling sad that hes not all tiny and curled up sleeping on my chest anymore!

Its hard aswell because she basically wants everything. The bouncer, the swing, my breast pump, the sling. It feels like its all being whipped away before im emotionally ready to let it all go. Makes me realise just how quick the last 6 months have gone and how fast hes grown out of all these things. I need to stop being so silly and bag it all up I suppose and move on to the next stage.....crawling, fingers in plug sockets, handfuls of dirt in mouth, grabbing coals off the fire place.....cant wait!!!

Q doesn't have a routine so it's relatively easy on holiday!
He's still bf on demand so feeding more on holiday due to the heat and then he's just eating his finger food when we do so today he's had food at 10.30am, 3pm and is eating now at 9pm! He's shifted his night too and going to bed later at 10.30 ish and waking around 9am ish, still sleeping through thank goodness.
He's absolutely loving it here, loves the pool and generally is taking all the new environment in, he's been no problem at all Grin
Hopefully he'll adjust back to normal times when we get home!

Struggling with any sort of routine here and I'm finding it difficult to fit in all the feeds! I don't feel like she's hungry enough to eat solids at times. She feeds a few times through the night still, probably has a feed at around 6am and might go back to sleep until 7 (if I'm lucky!). She has 'breakfast' at 8ish. Another nap at 9 but this could be 20 mins or and hour. I try and give her another feed when she wakes but she's rarely interested. I either give lunch or dinner at the moment so 'lunch' would be 12.30ish followed by another nap. Another feed mid afternoon and then around 5 if not having 'dinner.' I've managed to get her to bed at around 7.45 after the last feed for a few nights which is a miracle.

She's really gone off solids the last few days. Think we have a couple of teeth in the verge of pushing through!

Pesto11 · 23/07/2015 22:35

Dd has been crying for hours
Think another tooth might be coming through
Dh has finally come upstairs to see what all the fuss is about ... Thanks! Grr

Gna be a long night
Now I'm just wishing for one hour's sleep!

jobrum · 24/07/2015 07:03

Little, forgot to say re phone, I dropped my Samsung down the loo last year. Took it apart, wrapped it in kitchen roll and started to use my old one. A couple of days later I tried it and it worked perfectly, no sign of any damage. So there's hope yet!

LittlePink · 24/07/2015 08:13

So it's been almost 48 hrs in the rice bar about half an hour out last night and it seems to be working perfectly. Even the water that had seeped up the screen has gone. I'm amazed as it was properly submerged. All the pics and videos are there. Definitely got to upload them as a matter of urgency!

September60b · 24/07/2015 09:54

Little I dropped my phone in a sink with automatic taps once. I thought it was ruined but after 24 hrs in rice it was absolutely fine! You've inspired me to back up my photos and videos just in case now.

bigfam · 24/07/2015 11:11

This weather is so depressing! We're getting good stretches of sleep at night, between 7-8pm til 5-6am but she's gotten very clingy in the day and when she's tired she has the worst temper.

I'm going to a hen do tomorrow, I'm slightly nervous about leaving the kids because I've literally never had any time away from them (I really mean literally, over the last six years, not even a few hours without a kiddy present!) it's only a couple of hours but I think I'll be lost! I've even developed this strange quirk that when I'm not pushing a pram I become really self conscious and haven't got a clue what to do with my hands, I think to myself "do I swing them when I walk or put them in my pockets or fold my arms?!" lol, isn't that the weirdest.

jobrum · 24/07/2015 13:37

Its so strange isnt it bigfam. We were taking dd out for a stroll the other afternoon when dh suggested I go back and have a nap. I jumped at this offer and found myself walking without any pushchair - dh usually likes to push it but its there to look at. I started swinging my arms, then swinging then wildly and I think I broke into a bit of a skip when I neared the house!

bigfam · 24/07/2015 18:38

Sat there on her own playing with toys it's hard t believe that only 6 months ago she was a tiny bundle in my arms.

Pesto11 · 26/07/2015 09:32

Lovely days and rubbish nights

3rd night in a row where she won't sleep in her cot or even in the bed, only my arms will do!
Sometimes I just let her cry and eventually she falls asleep on my pillow cz I need to lie down myself!!

Don't know what's wrong ?!?!

chiruri · 26/07/2015 09:45

Are you in a wonder week? We've just come out one and she was a nightmare! Because she was being such a pain, and after much deliberation, I decided to try some controlled crying sleep training. I think DD has been waking overnight habitually rather than out of any need, and she has shown she is capable of settling herself before, so I figured it would work.
First night wasn't awful, but wasn't particularly fun either. Accidentally fed her to sleep (she was very tired anyway), but she woke at midnight as usual. Cried in her bed (with regular reassurance obviously) for about 20 minutes before going to sleep. Woke at 5, and the same happened. Woke up at 8 bright as a button and very cheerful! Last night was even better - slept from 8.30 til 8, waking twice (midnight and 7) but no crying and went almost straight back to sleep! I'm very hopeful for tonight.

bigfam · 26/07/2015 12:18

We've definitely made big changes this week, she's dropped atleast 2 naps in the day now. Hen night was good, until I got asked I.d to go into a pub, which put an end to my night!!! I'm 25 for gawds sake

September60b · 26/07/2015 15:44

Grin bigfam, been a while since I've been asked for id!

Dd is really unsettled during the night here too. It's difficult to say whether it's hunger or waking habitually. She goes down at about 8 and then has a fairly big feed at 12, but she's also been waking at 3, 5, 6 and then up around 7. She's recently started waking at 10pm too. The last couple of days she has dropped from 3 smaller naps to 2 biggish naps which helps with an earlier bedtime. It changes every week!!

Pesto11 · 26/07/2015 16:42

When I read up ok wonder weeks there's such a big overlap that it seems like every week is a wonder week!

Daytime naps are so random
Nighttime we are awake and miserable almost every hour ... And the rain had been non stop here so we've been trapped indoors today.

Don't care if it's raining tmrw, she's got the buggy rain cover and I'll dig out a jacket- we are going out!

bigfam · 26/07/2015 19:24

Weather's been awful here too, I actually put my heating on today (for all of 10 mins) It's a regular thing with the I.d, in the past it's been for scratch cards aswell Blush

We've had two of the shortest naps ever today, combined, not even an hour. And she's still going strong.
I thought that pesto, when one's ending another begins!

jobrum · 26/07/2015 22:35

Glad the hen night went well bigfam, apart from it ending early. My husband often gets id'd, I never do but we are both the same age! It makes me really angry! And worried that I look like some wrinkled hag next to him!

Dds sleep is still all messed up. Her teeth have looked ready to break through her gums for a week now, she's made her ear dry and weepy from rubbing it, is constipated again, and its all making for some hit and miss nights. Fri she woke up briefly an hour after going down but then slept till 4.30 but between midnight and 3 last night I must have got up four times and then a couple of times after that. I really hope it settles. Its comforting to know its not just us!

Alyx80 · 27/07/2015 23:00

I feel a bit guilty reading these posts as Q is still sleeping very well at night (touch wood!). Last night he did 10 hours straight which is usual for him, am waiting for it to change though as my others were all horrible at this age but I do know how tiring it is!
Today has been 38 degrees, far too hot but Q doesn't seem to care lol. It's like holding a mini radiator though which isn't fun!
He's been doing ok with weaning, a lot is still going on the floor but he's enjoying making a mess!
Here he is eating a jam sandwich at lunch today

bigfam · 28/07/2015 09:03

Our nights aren't too bad, it's the daytime naps that are becoming tiring, at the moment the only way she will nap is in the pram, sometimes she tries to fall asleep whilst feeding but I want to avoid that incase she tries to do it at night, she's always put to bed awake (but tired and miserable!)

bigfam · 28/07/2015 17:19

Here she is with some quavers

Hey hope everyone is well and enjoying Summer with the babies!
We were in the garden today, picnic blanket and toys - so nice

Still having rubbish nights and back to co sleeping :(
Giving dd calpol for teething and hoping things will go back to normal soon

LittlePink · 29/07/2015 20:23

Well we've got a new skill- clapping hands. He mastered it at rhyme time yesterday and he's been practicing it ever since. He looks so cute clapping his hands and very pleased with himself.

Nights are not bad at the moment. He did 11 hrs last night but last few nights before that he was waking twice but naughty mummy here didn't hear him so dh has been doing the honours! I've become so exhausted once I'm in a deep sleep I don't wake up. Feel a bit bad but I'm loving the full nights after 9 months of bad sleep

chiruri · 29/07/2015 20:35

That's brilliant about the clapping. DD has been slapping her hands off of flat surfaces for a few weeks so hopefully clapping will be coming soon.
Last night she decided to sleep for 12 hours (!!) and for the first time I've not woken up habitually and ended up checking on her. It means that's my first uninterrupted night's sleep in over 6 months! However I think she's teething today, so who knows what tonight will bring.

September60b · 29/07/2015 20:49

Hi all! That great news about the clapping and the improved sleep!

Sleep is still rubbish here but dd is really struggling with teething this week. Still no actual teeth. I think she may end up getting a couple through at the same time.

Just settling down to watch the new series of one born every minute. Think I might be getting broody but there's no chance I'm having number 2 for a little while!!
