Our babies are nearly half a year! Where on earth has the time gone?

Ds has ready brek with fruit puree mixed in or shreddies, weetabix. It should be whole milk for food or bm/ formula. I use whole milk though.

Pesto11 · 20/07/2015 14:22

Thank you ladies

Whole milk it is
And we shall try some breakfast foods tmrw!

Since she's been having fruit for breakfast she's been having an extra long nap in the mornings
Over the week it was great but now I'm thinking we will never leave the house before midday!

Think it'll take some time for her body to get used to

After 6 months of only 20min naps in complete silence I'm liking this extra hour!

MomentOfWonder · 20/07/2015 17:35

We just use standard porridge made from whole milk too - and make it quite thick so theoretically she could pick up handfuls of (not that she has yet!).

HelloMist · 20/07/2015 17:48

toast with unsalted butter was quite popular here too! I cut it into soldiers and she sucked on them/gummed on them a little bit. I even got to eat my own toast at the same time... Smile Glad to read the other ideas.

LittlePink · 21/07/2015 09:08

Ds was kind to me last night and slept 6.30- 6am. Just what I needed to kick this rubbish cold so feeling better than I did yesterday!

Nice weather today so it's out to a park with a lido for us today.

Ds won't sit in the bouncer anymore, he throws himself forwards and hangs upside down so it's difficult to know where to put him when I'm trying to get ready. Can't trust him sitting on his own yet as he generally falls backwards after a bit so going to get travel cot out and pop some toys in and see if that works. If I leave him in his cot lying down he whinges until I get him out so I don't get a lot done!

bigfam · 21/07/2015 14:55

We've had a lot of the bottom lip today, it's so cute, but the reason behind it isn't, dd2 is being a bit mean today and when the baby's trying to play with things, taking them away. She then looks at me with puppy dog eyes and sticks her bottom lip out bless her, not sure what's got into dd2 though.

September60b · 21/07/2015 15:27

Little I'm wondering where to put dd when I get ready too. I used to stick her on her playmat in the bathroom while I had a quick shower but now that she rolls it's no longer an option, even for a 3 minute shower!

She's turned her nose up at everything food wise today, including milk so I think her gums are to blame.

How old is dd2 bigfam? Are they keeping you busy now it's the start of the summer hols?

bigfam · 21/07/2015 16:15

Dd2 is 3.5 she finished Friday, dd1 and ds finish tomorrow. We've also had a call from the hospital and dd1 is now being kept in her cast until 5th August, so two weeks tomorrow. We'd planned on going swimming but will have to put it off til later in the hols

LittlePink · 21/07/2015 20:12

Dd takes things off Ds too all the time. She does understand that it's wrong to do that once explained to her (for the millionth time!) then she gives him it back but she soon forgets and does it again! She's discovered toys she's never been interested in before. All of a sudden because Ds is playing with it it's hers and she wants it even though she's never cared about it before! He's not allowed to play with anything poor thing!

Alyx I can't remember if you're bf or ff but what have you been doing about giving water whilst in Spain? Ds will be ff by the time we go and I was wondering how to give water because the sodium content is high in bottled water?

bigfam · 21/07/2015 21:00

Such a chunk

Alyx80 · 21/07/2015 22:47

Little pink, I am bf but have been trying to give him a beaker of water with his meals. You need to pick a bottled water with a sodium (Sodio) content of less than 20mg/l. The one we have is 18.6 but I believe Evian is very low at 5. When I was looking for my oldest who had some formula I found a lot of the bottles that were safe had a little picture on of a baby or bottle.
It's still very hot here and the last 3 days Q has decided to have decent naps! We've had good naps of between 1-4 hours rather than the 30 minutes normally. I just hope it continues lol.
Can't remember if I shared this yesterday, apologies if I did but he fell asleep in the pool lol, it was obviously nice and cool and he had 4 hours after I moved him to his cot!

Josies really struggling tonight, she's got an awful cough and cold and has Been awake nearly all night, literally.

Pesto11 · 22/07/2015 09:27

Poor baby with the cough bigfam

Terrible night here
Up every 1.5 hours ...
I'm soooo tired!

She's had some breakfast and I'm desperately waiting for nap time!

bigfam · 22/07/2015 13:51

Well we finally got to sleep at 4am, after an almighty couching fit. Hope you're ok pesto

Pesto11 · 22/07/2015 15:04

Now I'm in a car park feeding baby!!

She's so terrible at sleeping during the day
She woke up at 7, napped for 20mins at 12 and getting comfy in my arms in my car right now!!

Ah well radio on, watching the rain fall!

Does Josie need calpol or anything?

bigfam · 22/07/2015 17:21

I'm reluctant to give it to her, it doesn't really affect her during the day but when she lays down at night, I might try tonight though as I don't want her to go through it again tonight, it's not nice to watch.
God the rain, great British summer!

bigfam · 22/07/2015 17:51

I'm so proud of dd1, as she's in year she had to take part in a (mandatory) phonics screening, they told us about it beforehand and tried to emphasise it wasn't an important test but then starting chucking out things like pass and failure rates etc. Anyway she absolutely smashed it, 100%, every answer right. I'm so proud right now, she doesn't get the attention she truly deserves. Sorry for rant.

LittlePink · 23/07/2015 09:18

Thanks for advice alyx. Have you stuck to your usual routine or has it been anything goes?

That's brilliant bigfam. Its lovely when they do things to make you proud.

I dropped my iphone down the toilet yesterday. Its currently sitting in a box of rice in the hope it will dry out. Totally gutted as it had lots of lovely videos of the kids that I hadn't uploaded on to the laptop. I really hope it survives. Ive got another year on my contract so it would be £270 to get a new iPhone. What a pain.

Ds is so whingy at the moment. I really wanted to limit the use of his dummy but im finding im plugging him in more often than id wanted. Its the only thing that works and I cant bear the whinging. Cant decide if its his teeth or whats wrong but its pretty much all the time when hes awake last few days unless we're on the go and hes moving. Thought this ww was over but maybe not!

Dec1314mummy · 23/07/2015 09:45

little dd is the same. Seems quite unsettled at the moment! She was up for 2 hours last night and although she still wakes a lot sometimes she normally will call asleep snuggled on me (in the cot is another story).
Dd still has no teeth, Ds had 8 by now as he started teething really early so if shows how different they can be! She is doing really well on solids. She likes to spoon feed herself!
Loving all the cute photos! I'm very jealous of your holiday alyx but the thought of going on a plane with these 2 fills me with horror! We are going an hour away in the car and I can guarantee they will scream the whole way, so that's as much as I can handle!
Going to see a friends 3 weeks old later! I don't think it'll make me broody though. Dh would love more but I think I have made up my kind that this is it! We shall see though. Never say never! Grin

little that's my nightmare as we haven't printed any of the baby pics yet or saved them onto computer!

I am also dreading our 2 hour car journey to get to the seaside...

What are your timings for feeds?
I'm only managing to feed her solids twice
In between milk feeds and naps

Her night time sleep has completely regressed ... Awake every 2 hours and hates her cot after 4am! Joy joy joy!

LittlePink · 23/07/2015 16:51

Its hard to try and fit all the feeds in isn't it! Breakfast after his milk around 7 ish, milk at 11, lunch 11.30-12, milk 2.30/3, dinner 5, milk 6 ish then bed 6.30, dd bed 7 and then im pooped and collapse in a heap!

Pesto11 · 23/07/2015 17:42

Thanks for that little

Our timetable is all over the place here.
Most days we have breakfast at 8
But then she can nap for 20 mins or 2 hours!! This has only happened since introducing solids. Think it's just gna take time for her body to adjust.

Dec1314mummy · 23/07/2015 18:14

Naps don't happen at the same time if at all here but food pretty standard, 6.30 porridge and 4 oz bottle but sometime only has 2, 6oz bottle at about 9.30, 12 lunch and 4 oz bottle, 3pm 6/7oz bottle. 5 pm dinner, 6.15 bath time, 6.45 6/7oz bottle and bed then at least one bottle in the night! She's a big eater!

jobrum · 23/07/2015 19:41

Dd is also whingy, sleep all wrong (waking up more, earlier, napping more, fewer naps...) and the last couple of days has been bfing loads. She is teething and we've had to crack open the nurofen. Two little teeth have nearly beoken her lower gum.

Ahe has breakfast at around 9.30, then has another bf then a nap. Breakfast is wheee she eats a lot: two fingers of buttered toast with a banana mashed onto them and from a spoon. I also give her dinner but she eats less at this time, more interested in playing. This is usualy finger food and a bit of mashed up something.
She tends to wake about 5.30 am, eats 'breakfast' and then goes back to sleep for another couple of hours then doesnt want to bf until 9-10 ish. This early morning feed is the one Im trying to stop. I'd rather she alept until say 7 and I bf her breakfast then.

jobrum · 23/07/2015 19:42

Typos! I'm typing this while I feed her. Go to sleep baby!
