Our babies are nearly half a year! Where on earth has the time gone?

Q is so variable with his feeds, yesterday he only fed about 5 times, today he's already fed 4! We're in Spain atm so it's nice and hot. He loves the pool but slept awful last night, he was so unsettled I actually dreamt that he woke with 8 teeth lol.
He's been eating naked which has helped with cleaning up, he especially loves crusty bread and aioli!

LittlePink · 15/07/2015 15:47

Ds has 4 feeds a day now. Morning, mid morning, mid afternoon, bedtime. Night feed gone as of a couple of weeks ago.

I didn't go to the drs this time. I treated the mastitis myself with massage, hot flannels, painkillers, expressing and rest. Dh did the resettling at night so I could have a full nights sleep. So it's much better now. Antibiotics aren't always needed. You can self treat.

24 weeks today and she has her first tooth, I think the next one will only be a couple of weeks coming through too.
Glad to hear you're feeling better little

Pesto11 · 16/07/2015 07:49

Glad you're able to treat it and hope you feel better soon little

Enjoy the Spanish sunshine alyx
I'd love to be in a pool all day long! Ahhhh

bigfam they look so cute with their first teeth don't they!

bigfam · 17/07/2015 17:00

Picture from nursery, most definitely needs to be put on to a huge canvas.

Lovely pic bigfam!
We've been to the beach today, it's been very hot 35+ and a bit of a pain trying to stop Q eating the sand! He loves the pool though

Morning all, sorry for my absence!
What adorable photos! Very jealous of the pool alyx.
I have found out 2 of my friends are pregnant and are due in January! It was us last year. They have both just had their 12 week scans! All very exciting.
I think I have decided that we will stick at the 2 we have. Dd is at such a giggly stage! Her naps are still atrocious though but she's so happy, I think she just doesn't like sleeping in the day. Night times are hit and miss really!
Hope everyone is well. Any plans for the weekend?

Well I wasn't expecting it so quickly, but tooth number two has arrived! It's just come through on my finger now, she's quite miserable today though

September60b · 18/07/2015 19:42

Gorgeous babies!

Wow that was quick bigfam. Still no teeth here but I can see a couple in the gums so I don't think it will be long? At least I hope not because dd is really grumpy with her gums at the moment!

We've been to a family gathering today so dd has been passed around all day and hardly slept! She's just dropped off while having her last feed and I'm wondering if it's safe to put her in her cot yet.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend?

bigfam · 19/07/2015 07:04

Where has the time gone? Less than a week ago she was a gummy bear, now she's suddenly got teeth Sad definitely growing up too fast

Alyx80 · 19/07/2015 11:31

My DS3 got his first two teeth one day after another but then had a few months before getting anymore. No real sign of teeth yet for Q, just the odd bit of grumpiness and lots of slobber lol.
He's not napping well at all while we're away, I've tried pram, cot and our bed and its very hit and miss, I certainly won't be getting a suntan haha.

He had some lovely broccoli, carrots and green beans last night but I don't think he enjoyed them as much as the pizza and bruschetta from the night before Blush. Started him on breakfast yesterday too so he's now on 3 meals although most is still on the floor I think!

bigfam · 19/07/2015 11:46

I'm still too scared to try blw, is 24 and a half weeks too early? I know every baby is different but I never tried it with any of my others, I'm sure all of their food was pureed until about a year. Do you just cut things up really small and put it in front of them?!

I haven't checked yet the ages that the others teeth came in, but I love comparing their little red books.

Pesto11 · 19/07/2015 13:36

I'm doing a mixture of blw and purées

She will pick up the food and wave it around as if it's the Olympic torch but it won't go in her mouth!
So I end up mushing some of it and feeding her with my hand/spoon

She's still not sitting unaided which is slightly stressing me out.

Going to stay at my parents in the holidays and not sure how they'll appreciate food flying everywhere! Need to buy some table cloths to cover their cream carpet!!

Sunday afternoon already- where has the weekend gone?!
Found one baby class that I like; need to find others as I'm still sooo bored for the most part of the week!

Alyx80 · 19/07/2015 14:49

I'm not strictly BLW as I hand him bits of food and will spoon feed yoghurts etc. Most bits are finger length pieces he can hold on to. I just find it much easier than pureeing as I just give him whatever one of us has.

He's so gorgeous alyx. Yep I've just checked, she's the youngest to get her teeth through at this stage! She'll be 25 weeks Wednesday, she can sit but sometimes likes to lean forward making it look like she'll face plant the floor, but her balance when sat properly is good

bigfam · 19/07/2015 16:18

Here's my eldest and youngest, they love eachother so much

Pesto my dd isn't sitting unaided yet either. She's the only one that can't at one of the baby groups we go to (she is the youngest) but she is rolling around all over the place. It was stressing me out too but I've just tried to think that they all develop at their own rate. We'll be wondering what we were worried about in a few weeks Smile.

Dd has just woken herself up by rolling into the bars of her cot and getting her arms and legs stick through. I'm sure it's dh's fault as he was hovering over her 10 mins ago wondering why she hadn't woken up yet....

Pesto11 · 20/07/2015 07:47

Sept our babies are so similar!!!
Last week she kept rolling into the bars and trapping her arms too!

Not a great night here- she kept waking herself up by crying/screaming every 2 hours
At 3.30 she ended up on my pillow as I got fed up of carrying her in and out of the cot.
Think it could've been wind cz she's been farting away for the past half hour!
Need sleep zzzzz

LittlePink · 20/07/2015 09:01

Pesto and sept we have a breathable bumper which stops them getting their legs stuck in the bars- very effective and a good buy. Solved the problem.

I'm full of cold and feeling pretty ropey last few days. Went to bed at 9.30 last night and before 2am I was woken 3 times then at 2 couldn't get back to sleep for 2 hours as I was so overtired and feeling so rubbish, couldn't breathe etc. Feel so bad as all ive done is snap at dd this morning because I'm so tired. I'm very grumpy today! Dh got dd ready for me this morning though so that was one less job which was a massive help.

Does anyone's baby use a dummy? Just for sleep or all day? I fell into the dummy trap and he was using it all day and night. I've started to limit its use now to sleep times but he's so unsettled and grumpy during the day as I think he's missing it. When he gets really upset I give it for comfort but I don't want him having it 24/7. I've been looking at getting the sleepy tot as it has excellent reviews for them being able to find the dummy themselves in the cot at night but I'm not sure he would be able to at this age. The dummy really helps for naps but I don't want the trap of him losing it at night for us to have to keep getting up to re plug. I'm all confused as to what to do- take it away cold turkey and do cc or just let him have it and deal with it later with the hope the sleepy tot would work?

bigfam · 20/07/2015 09:20

My lo has a dummy, all 3 of my girls have. Ds was the only one to not have a dummy and he's the one with speech delay! Dd1 and dd2 were both very attached to their dummies and would happily sit there all day with it in their mouths, they had them until about 2 (I think) Dd3 is very different, she only really wants it for naps during day or at night so hopefully she won't start wanting it all day

Pesto11 · 20/07/2015 09:43

Thanks for the recommendation and hope you feel better soon little

Does anyone give their lo porridge for breakfast? I've been giving dd fruit for the past 3 days at 'breakfast time' and wondering about moving on and adding something different .
Do you use 'special' baby porridge or is the normal one ok (with regards to salt and sugars etc)?

Also as she's still breastfed I'm going to use semi skimmed cows milk from our fridge just to mix the porridge. Was debating getting some formula for cooking her food with but read cows milk is ok after 6m

Alyx80 · 20/07/2015 09:51

I've always given mine ready brek as babies, although I have got a box of baby porridge in the cupboard so will probably use that first. Cows milk is fine but it should be whole milk until they are two I think. Q is having croissant at the minute lol.
He isn't sitting unaided, he can manage about 30 seconds or so and he isn't rolling properly either but DS2&3 were both nearly a year before they crawled so imagine he'll be the same.

After me saying he wasn't sleeping well on holiday, yesterday he napped for 4 hours! He fell asleep in the swimming pool and then slept the afternoon away, it was great lol. Then last night he slept 10.45pm to 9.45am, I was awake from about 8.30am desperate to feed him!

September60b · 20/07/2015 10:02

Thanks for the recommendation Little, that sounds like it could be a good buy! Dd never took a dummy even though I tried to encourage it so that she could use it for comfort rather than me.

Pesto dd sometimes has weetabix or scrambled egg for breakfast and I was going to try porridge too. Will probably go for some really fine oats, I think Quaker oats are quite fine.

HelloMist · 20/07/2015 12:17

Pesto: I've tried a few days of baby porridge. It was the 4-6 stuff which is gluten free and like a paste. mine said mix with water but I tasted it myself and decided with whole cow's milk was nicer. It didn't need heating and I mixed in some fruit purée. Think you can get 7m+ (?) baby porridge with gluten in that's thicker. I'd like to try regular porridge soon too. If you make it in a pan or microwave from rolled oats it won't be high in sugar/salt. (But those instant flavoured porridges would).

HelloMist · 20/07/2015 12:19

also my DD isn't sitting yet either Smile
