1.5 hours because it was 5.30 and past dinner time. After lots of spag bol I put her down at 7.15 and she woke for a feed at 2, again at 3 but I rocked her back to sleep and that was it!!! Up at usual 5.30 for sleepy morning feed in bed with me for 45 mins. If every night could go like this I'd be made up!!

Arkkorox · 08/08/2015 08:03

Dd slept from 10 to 7:30!!!! I feel like a new person, the few nights before had been hell with her up for an hour every 3 hours! Woooo

omama · 08/08/2015 19:34

Marking place as I fell off the thread! Will have a catch up in a mo, hope everyones doing ok.

All ok here, dd still in leap 6 but bit better last few days & generally sleeping fairly well at night doing 7/7.30pm-7am with the occasional wakeup for dummy. No more night feeds yay!

Her babbling has stepped up a gear & instead of just mamama or bababa its now 'ba geh' so putting 2 sounds together. Still no sign of crawling, she just rolls!

Strawberryfield12 · 08/08/2015 20:27

Only week left for DD till end of leap 6, up to now she has been her usual self during the day, but nights... So jealous of your sleeping through babies... One day DD will do that as well...

Been some time DD was taking off the spoons when I was feeding her, but with the long and shallow tommee tippee ones all she did was to swing around. I would give her one to hold and with other would try to feed her, but she would fight my spoon with hers, so the meals always ended in musketeers' routines instead of eating. Come across Babybjorn baby plates and spoons and gave it a go. Although the plate looks like a dog bowl, it has been a success. DD is now spoon feeding herself, she even manages to pick up some food with the spoon from the plate! Obviously, it is really messy, but she actually manages to get the biggest part inside herself. Luckily, it's warm here so I take advantage, strip DD to nappy, take bumbo chair in the garden and let DD do whatever she wants. Once the meal is over can hose the chair and DD and bath DD. Interesting what happens on meals in nurseries with the 1y olds?

happypotamus · 08/08/2015 22:46

Took DD swimming for the first time today. Was worried in case she didn't like it and DD1 would be really upset about having to get out, but she really enjoyed it for a hour then fell asleep in the pool so we knew it was time to go!

CazY777 · 09/08/2015 09:15

Another awful night here. She wouldn't go to sleep (i thought that was because she had a long sleep in the car on the way to and from my parents) so she stayed up until I went to bed at 10. Then had 3 nappy changes, so maybe digestion also a prob, before she finally settled but only in bed with me. Then quite a few wake ups, I can't remember how many but she kept waking up crying so I fed her and she went back to sleep for another hour. I need a miracle to happen and she starts sleeping better before work on Tuesday!

Greenstone, we haven't tried mixing bm and formula yet, to be honest I'm going to leave it to dh to give it a go. He told me the other day that he is looking forward to getting rid of me and having a chance to look after her himself, so he can have that challenge! I have also told him he could try vanilla essence, Anna. Ladydolly I'll also be pumping at work so he will also have fresh bm to give her (also want to lock myself away at work and have a bit of a nap hopefully!)

ladydolly · 09/08/2015 09:26

caz I did manage a snooze one time, it was accidental but will try again this week!

Relatively good night here. Bed at 7, feed at 12, rock to sleep at 1. Up at 5.15 though, killer. Neighbours had a ridiculously loud party until about 3 so my sleep was broken. Such utter bastards. The pumping music was hit and they we screaming and shouting in the garden the whole time.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 09/08/2015 15:31

Operation no boob is going ok went til 2pm yesterday from 7am and just on now from 8am he has needed lots of distraction and food frequently offered today was easier as was out in town so in pushchair so couldn't get at me.

Last night was more unsettled had a v v windy bottom had been to nursery open day and had jacket potato with chilli for lunch. No extra feeds to normal overnight.

Nursery open day and was a little surprised to find they boil fruit and peel it for them been mostly blw with baby so told them he has it sliced straight from fridge and manages fine he chucks skin back from peaches and apricots pears and Apple's he eats it, they said they have to boil due to choking risk I didn't feel the choking/gagging debate was appropriate there and then but will be had, the girl in baby room asked how he did with finger foods I said oh he has mostly finger foods as he has all his food offered "whole on highchair" she said oh do you chop up pasta for him I said nope whole, the dairy thing as well they went on about lactose free foods I explained different and then they were shocked he couldn't have cooked dairy after telling me lots kids with dairy allergy I think lots children whose parents just didn't give milk for whatever reason. Anyway think am going to meet with cook they are happy to buy in alternatives and as a fully organic nursery will source organic where available. I will be writing very clear guidance for them

Strawberryfield12 · 09/08/2015 17:05

CAZ could it be that your DD is teething and thus the bad sleep and runny tummy? Our DD has same problems and her front gums are bright red today. She is desperately biting in everything she can get hold of and gives out some almost animal sounds.

Strawberryfield12 · 09/08/2015 17:08

Anna congratulations (or not so much!) on crawling! Hope it doesnt get too exausting!

Annarose2014 · 09/08/2015 22:24

Christening Day over and we survived! Tons of people in the house, lots of friendly chaos, even a couple of toddlers DS didn't know....and he was a champ. Not a bother on him despite tons of wetness on his head/daubed on chest (he now smells like incense, lol) and he just smiled at everyone for hours and hours and didn't mind being cuddled by Complete Randoms at all.

I almost burst with Smug Mummyness. So so proud of my little cheery man.

Boy was it good to peel off the Spanx though! Between that and the new cheap heels I was in agony!

moggle · 09/08/2015 22:27

Hi, haven't been on in ages. DD now only BFs for 4 or 5 minutes at a time and tries to grab my phone if I use it so not much MN time left! I have clicked through all the pages and tried to catch up but probably missed a lot! My main questions are:

  1. is any baby walking yet?! (I had a cousin who walked at 9m so just curious!)
  2. anyone up the duff yet?! (not me btw!)

Anyway DD has been crawling for about a month and started pulling herself up on things the next day and is now impressively stable. She hasn't realised she can move while holding onto things so that is good. Our babyproofing is fairly minimal... I hate stair gates and tripped on one at my BIL's house when I was pregnant, so am trying to wait as long as poss before giving in...
She's terrifying in the bath as she stands up continually, grabs at the taps and shower hose, and actually screams and goes redfaced if you try to lie her down to rinse shampoo off her hair. Nappy changes are an absolute nightmare and I just cannot get her to lie on her back.
Sleep we have just finished an awful phase where she was taking up to 3 hours to fall asleep. Now we give her a bottle of aptamil after her bath and then she just conks out - having our evenings back is amazing. However I think we are hitting 9m sleep regression as we've had a few nights where she's been awake for a couple of hours in the middle of the night for no reason.
Food is still a bit trickky as she still has no teeth and gets very impatient with gumming stuff. Lots of mushy relativey soft food - mostly bread, cheese, fruit and greek yoghurt. I'm getting a bit bored TBH!

east interesting reading about operation no-boob. keep us posted!

Greenstone · 09/08/2015 22:53

Hi moggle welcome back! DD is the same on the boob, so quick, I'm still in the habit of getting my phone and tea and settling down for a feed but she's not up for long feeds anymore at all. Same story with the nappy changes, it's really getting old now. We're not getting the danger bath stand here yet though you have just reminded me that it is imminent once it actually occurs to her to do it. At the moment she's too busy eating bubbles. Definitely not walking yet. Her crawling technique is very good and much better than DD1's who always had a wonky crawl but walked just before 11 months. I think DD2 might be happy crawling for a while yet as it works so well but we'll see.

And so not up the duff and no plans to be!

Congrats anna and ds on the big day - sounds great. 9 months is a great age for a christening, they are far cuter and happier then and so engaging. An American tourist (male) tugged his wife's arm to point out dd2 to her when we were in town today, they spent ages cooing while dd beamed.

on operation no-boob: I find dd gets very cranky if she's gone more than 4 hours without a quick feed if I'm around. Even if she's had a sleep and plenty to eat, it's like she needs a regular check-in to reset her mood, and then 2 minutes later she's fine again. Does anyone else find this, and if so does a bottle/dummy have the same effect? Is it a need to suck thing?

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 10/08/2015 05:25

Greenstone baby was like this just a quick few mins feed every so often and couple big feeds a day and although has been distracted easily enough he has whined for boob hoping over the next week it gets easier

happypotamus · 10/08/2015 06:20

I have just picked DD up out of the cot. This is the first time she has ever slept in it until morning. It wasn't continuous, she woke up 3 times since put to bed at 8ish, but this is the first time I have managed to get her back in the cot each time!

I have been too tired to string together a coherent sentence recently so have been reading but not managing to write replies, sorry.

TwigletFiend · 10/08/2015 08:11

Hi all, congrats on crawling and christening Anna!

Thinking of you, havent Flowers

Nice to see you back, moggle! I am also not keeping up with the thread that well.

Lady, how was the rest of your work week?! Mine was very stressful! Poor DD poorly all week, picked her up from DPs mum on Thursday and she said if DD was going to be that grumpy every week she wouldn't have her any more. Just what I need! I made DP talk to her because frankly there was no way I was going to handle that without raging.

DD got development check this morning, then off to nursery while I go on to work. It's hard juggling horse, baby and work in the mornings! Am up at quarter to six to get some caffeine down me before packing everything in car, packing up DD and going to yard, doing morning chores and riding then doing her breakfast at the yard before dropping her off at nursery and heading to work! Luckily yard owners have been great and set up a room for me with high chair, table and most importantly a kettle so I can sort her out somewhere dry I the morning!

Strawberryfield12 · 10/08/2015 09:46

No walking here, but we have another development milestone here, the embarrasing one: when DD farts and somebody looks at here, she starts to laugh, even better if you make the prr sound, she thinks its hillarious. Honestly, we dont do farting and laughing at home Blush

Arkkorox · 10/08/2015 09:56

Hahaha strawberry Thats brilliant

Dd slept right though! No wake ups at all! I have lost the ability to sleep for more than 3 hours at a time Hmm

Arkkorox · 10/08/2015 09:57

Oooh ladies you realise our next thread will be the one where our babies turn one Sad

MrsAukerman · 10/08/2015 09:57

We had a good night from DS, one feed at 0250. He'd woken a couple of times before that but I'd stayed in bed and he just settled back to sleep. (He's in his own room but our house is small)

Trying to replicate yesterday as much as possible in the hope he does it again.
Yesterday was 2 sleep cycles nap both morning and afternoon (having to help him into the second one but just sssshhhhh ing), fresh air in afternoon then self-settling for bedtime.

Arrrrr Ark, what are you doing to me?? I'm going to cry!! How are our babies about to be 1??? (Also ark, this time last year you didn't even know you were pregnant!!)

Awful morning, dd up at 5.15, no matter what I do she's up at that time but she's not really doing the 1 hour sleepy feeding in bed thing anymore so I don't get anymore sleep. I'm exhausted! Then about 10 minutes before we were going to leave I heard her choking in the next room and ran in to find she'd puked everywhere. I'm not sure if she'd shoved her fingers in too far because she seemed fine before and after. Then when I dropped her off at childminder she cried and even worse I had to go and get her car seat so when I came back in she was reaching for me with her sad face on.
My heart is officially broken.

Twiglet I'm doing phased return so only 3 days last week, we had a lovely couple of days when I was off.... which made coming back to work even harder. I have NO idea how you are taking care of a horse as well. What do you do with babytwig while you ride? Dd doesn't even stand for coming to the allotment with me for 5 mins to chuck in compost!! And your DP's mum needs a bloody slap if you ask me (I'm tired and over emotional though), you poor thing having to hear that!! It sounds like you've had a harder time in returning and I'm the one doing all the moaning!!

ladydolly · 10/08/2015 13:32

Oh, and dd not walking unaided but she does walk along the furniture, doesn't trust me though so won't walk holding my hands or anything.

Also not upduffed. Thinking of giving it a go after xmas, happened very quickly last time but who knows.

CazY777 · 10/08/2015 13:49

No walking here yet either, lots of crawling, taking things off bookshelves, pulling herself up and standing steady but no cruising, trying to pull herself up on things in the bath and grabbing the plug.
I think we have decided not to have any more babies. I was toying with the idea but I don't think I can go through it all again and we would have to do it soon as I'm 41 now. She does have an older half sister and two cousins the same age.
We had a better night, bed at 8, wake ups at 9, 11, 1.30, 5.30, 6.30 and awake at 7.45, but at least she stayed in the cot until 5.30 and I got a good 4 hour block. She's doesn't have any obvious teething symptoms Strawberry but I'll wait and see if any more teeth pop up soon.

Strawberryfield12 · 10/08/2015 19:18

Twiglet agreed with ladydolly about your MIL. She doesn't deserve to be a grandmother is she says such nasties about her own ill (the illness she overlooked few days ago!) granddaughter, who is a baby still for goodness sake! Take care of yourself! You are amazing woman dealing with work, DD and horse!
