Hi there,

Know I'm now offically a October mum but wanted too keep up with you all so if you'll still let me be a 'Nov mum' that would be good.

Our 1st week has been remarkably good - DD (first time I've typed that one ) is a wee star. Feeding is going really well, she came out know what to do and apart from being a bit tired all seems to be falling into place. Had a good cry as my milk came in but otherwise emotions have been ok. Luckily DH is at home for the next couple of weeks - highly infuriating at times but invaluable for helping getting big brothers out to school and for making dinner.

Look forward to hearing all your baby news x

hi everyone!

thought i'd atempt to catch up with you all, but it's hard when your brain is mush!! i can't believe some of your babies are 6 weeks old... ryan's not even 2 weeks yet!! it's giving me a clue of what to expect though!!

Ryan's doing really well though! has been feeding like a little piglet and last night i succumbed to the dummy, he was using me as one and i was trying to wrap the christmas pressies... dp can't settle him, just keeps saying that he needs feeding, even when i've fed him 10 mins before!! Ryan also likes to suck his thumb, but not too good at finding it, i'd rather have a dummy sucker than a thumb sucker!!

think i'd better go make an appointment to have him registered... haven't felt up to this yet, had my first trip to tesco's yesterday which really took it out of me! the bruising to my wound is still pretty bad and giving me lots of pain, ds1 jumping all over me really doesn't help!!

take care all, i'll catch up again soon...

if i'm not back before, have a fabulous 1st christmas with your new babies!!

Hi all

Things seem to be improving here a little. I have got some anti d's and i have also started DP on some St Johns Wart to try and perk him up a little.

Harry is still crying in the evening and like Stacey said after a while the Infacol just wasn't working so now were just grinning and baring it but now we expect it we can prepare ourselves mentaly and are dealing with it ok.
We got a vibrating baby chair which is a godsend he actually shuts up for 5 minutes to sit there and vibrate!

He is still in our bed most the night which i really have to stop beause i keep laying on him so im going to invest in a hot water bottle for his moses basket to see if it works. It is a shame though its so much easier with him in our bed, he's only coming up 6 weeks and he has learnt how to wiggle him self right up close to me while im sleeping and scratch at my nighty untill he can get enough breast out to latch himself on!!

Jack's not doing to bad he 'lobes' his 'brudder' and quite like holding a bottle for him in the morning when he has one.

Getting excited at xmas approching! I am such a big kid when it comes to xmas, and have given jack clear instructions that Santa doesn't like Sherry so we should leave him some baileys or a bottle of beer and a mince pie!

Ho ho ho!

HarktheHarrogateMumisSinging · 19/12/2006 16:14

Charlee - can I just say I am feeling exactly the same way, I burst into tears at the slightest thing adn feel like I just cant cope (have twins aged 2 - boys who are a real handful). DD is now 3 weeks old and has caught a cold from her older brothers which is awful as she is too little to give her anything. I have just started taking st johns wort, has anyone else had any luck with it?

And my midwife discharged me 11 days ago and I am yet to hear a peep from a health visitor - does anyone think this is strange!!?? I have left a message on their answerphone today so hopefully they will be in touch soon but poor Maddy has not been weighed since she was about a week old so I have no idea if she is putting on weight or not.......

And to top it all, bloody Xmas is around teh corner......

Mummy2TandF · 19/12/2006 23:01

Harrogatemum - I know exactly what you mean, soping with my 2 years old and dd is hard to say the least and dd has also caught a rotten cold from ds it's such a shame because as you say, you can't treat it!
Well, my mum and my nan came round today and sat with ds and dd so that I could pop into town to do the last bits of Christmas shopping, I was only gone for 2 hours but how nice to just be on my own I can't remember the last time that I was - the only down side was, I had nowhere to put all the shopping bags - I am so used to hanging it on the buggy Anyway - am off to bed now - take care

staceym11 · 20/12/2006 09:21

hi everyone, well keiran is now officially registered! lol it took long enough, iv got docs for my 6 week check up today, he gets an 8 week one at our surgery and thankfully iv now got the pink form to register him with the docs!!

well i may be blasted for this by some people but keiran was feeding every 2 hours and was still hungry and unsettled in between so i tried a tiny bit of baby rice, and lo and behold i have a baby who will sleep for 5 hours at a time and is acctually drinking more milk now than he was before!! i am in no way saying that this is what to do to anyone else but my little man is such a podge he needed it. im mixing it with his milk so hes getting the nutrients etc and he drinking more now as before he was only taking between 2-3 ozs every 2-3 hours, now hes taking a 6 oz bottle every 4-5 hours! we only started yesterday but i tihink his body is ready to deal with it as he hasnt had any tummy pain........also they usually still have the 'tongue thrust' at this age, i know dd did when i started feeding her baby rice at 3 months, howevery keiran doesnt, he just swallows the lot!!

anyway, i know that people will probably shout at me for it but i dont care, i know my son!! must go docs soon!

Bethbe · 20/12/2006 14:20

Hiya,

Any advice for a struggling mum! Ross is feeding so regularly sometimes I only get 15 min break in between and feeding sessions last 1-2 hours with him gulping all the way through!
Have tried a dummy, but he spits it out and screams and roots. HV says tis growth spurt but has gone on for 3 weeks. Warming moses basket buys me a bit more time but not much. Giving formula doesn't make him settle for any longer, but does give me a short break as dh can give it (he drinks between 250-300 mil in one sitting)! Except for the baby rice thing I don't know what else to try - any help?

Debsy, - what worked for you in the end.

p.s I don't think it is my milk supply as I can express 100 mil in 15mins - although I rarely have 15mins.

NativityJane · 20/12/2006 15:30

Gosh some of you seem to be having a bit of a tough time of it. I can't help with any of your problems I'm afriad, I still feel like a first timer myself!! I do hope that you all find the key, and things start to get easier.

We are still rumbling along, the winding thing hasn't gotten any better, we have tried everything, Infacol (which worked wonders for DS when he was a baby), and Dentinox hasn't done anything, we've had him up side down inside out and back to front while trying to get his wind up, and still no joy! Other than that everything is still going really well. The slight jaundice and dry skin have both all but dissapeared, the midwife discharged us on Monday, HV is coming for the first time on the 27th, the breast feeding support woman (who has been an absolute godsend!) has basicaly left us to it now, although she did say she is always on the end of the phone if we come up with any problems.

And the big news for today is that not only have I got back in my pre-pregnancy clothes, but I also tried some boots on in Debenhams and I actually got them done up around my fat calves!! I couldn't do that before I got pregnant!! LOL So I am now the very proud owner of a fabulous pair of high boots that I have hankered over for the past 3 years+!!! Feeling very jammy today

staceym11 · 20/12/2006 16:15

oh bethbe, im sorry your having a hard time with feeding too!

if your lo can eat 300 ml at a time thats impressive, thats over 9 ozs, keiran cant do that but his feeds were so regular i had to try baby rice. thankfully it seems to have worked!

try talking to a hv and see what they suggest, although their word is not gospel!

well keiran is now a bonny bouncing 10 lb 9 oz at 6 week, he was born 7lb, the fat chub, hes gone from the 25th line underneath average, to the average line!

well must be off, feed due!

schmizaj · 21/12/2006 13:10

Boy I didn't realise that babies were all so different and that there aren't solutions to all problems. Despite being a book nerd just doing everything on instinct now as it sounds like you all are. But is is working as my dd is getting more settled and much cuter!!

Had breast lump examined and it is absolutely fine as expected but needle test really hurt and have a bruised boob. Great just what I need! Tried expressing to have something when I went to hospital and no one told me that that would hurt too! Sure I just need to practise more, and would really like to see more result for my efforts. It was pitiful, no one dd has to suck so hard.

DD finally pooed after her dry spell and it was horrific. Had to throw the sleep suit away. Comedic scene of me and dh gagging and running around and grabbing at things. She had to go straight into the bath, there was nothing else for it.

Sorry i haven't posted in a few days we have had some traumatic times! here

Everyone thankfully ok just have to keep a close eye on Harry who by the way has decided to use me as a human dummy which is a pain! (litterally) he has slept all day today i hope he's not coming down with anything, luckily he's still pigging his way through an hour of boob at a time

schmizaj · 21/12/2006 20:22

Charlee - just read the thread. That is too scary for words. So pleased that the hospital looked after you so well. I really need to get all the leaflets out again and read up on it!

bcsnowpea · 21/12/2006 21:15

Oooh, my little six week old Jack has started smiling at us. Grinning really! Doesn't it just make the crying and lack of sleep completely worth it?

KaybeeandZak · 22/12/2006 09:59

How awful for you Charlee, thank god you got him to the hospital so quickly. Hope he makes a speedy recovery xx

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 22/12/2006 10:46

So sorry to hear about your scary, scary news Charlee - hope that things are all better now and that the meningitis is well and truely gone when they do more tests. I can't even begin to contemplate how awful it must be to have such an ill child (and touch wood I never do).

We are all well. School finished up yesterday until the 8th Jan (as did DH as he still had left over holidays to take) so looking forward to not having to rush in the mornings and maybe even getting a few more afternoon naps. I had an afternnon snooze the other week and although I set the alarm managed to sleep in for going to collect my big boys. School finishes at 2:50 and I was woken up at 3 by a phone call from the boys teacher asking if everything was alright .

Katie is now 8 weeks old and I've no idea where the time has gone we are both doing really well. Still BF brilliantly - I couldn't honestly tell you how often as I just pop her on when she starts to gurn. I've still got her in bed with me at night so night times are fairly good too. We don't need to turn the light on anymore and I don't wind her so although I'm tired I don't actually feel sleep deprived. Which I'm really grateful for (as are my 3 ds!! - I really do become mummy from hell when I've not slept).
My biggest problem is our humungous washing pile. Don't mind putting stuff in the machine but hate the whole folding, getting it dried, folding it and putting away thing - not to mention the ironing however only iron the stuff that really, really needs it.

Was fairly shocked to hear how long it took some of you to register your babes. In Scotland we only get 3 weeks to register. I almost forgot but was able to go into the office the day before the 3 weeks were up and make an appt for the next day - phew!

Okay enough rambling! Wishing you all a fab festive season and all the best for a happy, healthy and fun-filled Ney Year x

Morning everyone

Charlee, echoing what everyone else has said, can't imagine how scary the past week or so has been for you, especially on top of the fits and a new baby, sending very healing thoughts and best wishes, fingers crossed the new year brings better luck and news for you all.

Still plodding along here, everything is just going so well, George is such a dream, even the winding thing seems to have sorted itself out, we stopped the infacol and dentinox on the basis of that we didn't think it was doing anything and we'd rather not be giving him anything he didn't need, and although he is being sick with it occasionally, he is bringing his own wind up now, we went up to bed last night at 10 o'clock, DH had to get up early for work, by the time I had finished feeding and changing him it was 11 he went straight down in his cot and didn't wake till 4.10 had a quick twenty minute feed and a quick bum change and went back to sleep till gone 7 this morning. He is getting a little bit more impatient for food once he decides he is hungry, he does moan a bit until he hears the clasp thing on my nursing bras opening, then he just lies in wait for me to sort the very strategically placed muslin out(!!!) and get him latched on, but other than that bit of a moan he doesn't make a sound other than the little baby gurgles that he has become a pro at!! I am a bit tired this morning because DS1 had an unsettled night so I was up with him a few times, but before that I can honestly put my hand on my heart and say I am not feeling in the slightest bit sleep deprived and certainly no where near the zombie like state I was in with in with DS1 at 2 weeks old!!

We have been in to town a few times this week, mainly just to keep DS1 busy doing things because he is getting way over excited about Monday, I'm not sure George is even aware that he has been out of the house yet, as soon as I lay him in his carrycot thing on the buggy he goes to sleep, we go all the way round town, on and off the bus, up and down steps, running over and into goodness only knows how many innocent passers by (I am still learning how to drive his buggy!!) come home put the shopping away sort some food for me and DS1 and have a sit down and George is still fast asleep in the buggy!

I suppose there is time for it all to change, and he could still turn out to be a devil child but so far, I couldn't wish for him to be any more easy going and content really. In fact, if it wasn't for the whole pregnancy thing again, I think I would already be back on the TTC boards!!!

Anyway, enough rambling, have a lovely christmas everyone, and take care of your little families xxx

podglet · 23/12/2006 13:09

Hi all,

How scary for you Charlee good to hear that DS1 is on the mend and hope you have a lovely special Christmas with him.

Poor DS is suffering with wind and reflux. the gaviscon is helping the reflux but is making the wind worse to get up. He spent all morning with tummy ache and really unhappy then managed a big poo and immediately felt better and became my lovely smiley baby boy again! he is doing really big smiles and lots of "talking" to us - v soppy mummy...

Hope you all have a lovely Christmad and New years with our long awaited babies and the rest of your families

Mummy2TandF · 23/12/2006 14:57
