Hi there,

Know I'm now offically a October mum but wanted too keep up with you all so if you'll still let me be a 'Nov mum' that would be good.

Our 1st week has been remarkably good - DD (first time I've typed that one ) is a wee star. Feeding is going really well, she came out know what to do and apart from being a bit tired all seems to be falling into place. Had a good cry as my milk came in but otherwise emotions have been ok. Luckily DH is at home for the next couple of weeks - highly infuriating at times but invaluable for helping getting big brothers out to school and for making dinner.

Look forward to hearing all your baby news x

Am enjoying motherhood so much more 2nd time round, everything seems easier even with toddler in tow! Can't stop cuddling Elliot...

Mummy2TandF · 27/12/2006 23:53

Hi everyone - hope you all had good Christmases
I had the PIL round for Christmas day - although I did say that I didn't want to host christmas this year [hmmm] it went surprisingly well, ds slept from 2:30-6:00, so didn't eat with us and dd fed just before I dished up and slept through dinner, so we did actually get to eat in peace We then went to my mums on Boxing Day and got a shocking amount of noisey (sp?) toys for ds and dd got the most beautiful rocking horse for when she is bigger. Must go but will catch up soon.

NativityJane · 28/12/2006 12:33

Morning everyone, hope it all went well for everyone, and you are all making the most of the sales

I can't believe George is 3 weeks old today, it seems like just yesterday I was sat there with my waters going everywhere!! LOL He was weighed yesterday by the HV, and has gone from a birth weight of 8lb 10oz, to 10lb 6 and a half oz!! And has gone from 53cm in length to 55 and a half cm now, he is completely out of his 'new born' clothes, and I must say he doesn't have loads of room in the 0-3 months stuff either! He is a bit of a big baby!! Breast feeding is still going really well, he is having a bit of a growth spurt at the moment, so my boobs are being whipped out every half an hour during the day, but I can handle that, gives me just the right excuse to sit down and just watch him for a bit!!

My sister annouced on christmas day that she is expecting her third baby, I am ashamed to admit the jealousy hit me like a sodding concrete wall, never thought a third would be on the cards for us, DH and I have even had a 'serious' chat about it, we are going to look where we are this time next year and decide then, must say the more I think about it, the more I already know there won't be much deciding happening by me by then - how scary is that?!!!!

Anyway, if I don't get back before, everyone enjoy their New Years Eve, whatever you are doing, we are planning the same as usual, Jools Holland, get DS1 up about 11.40 have a good old dance about in the living room, bottle of Champers to go pop at midnight and in bed by 12.30!! Can't wait!!

HappyCatandIzzy · 28/12/2006 21:25

Hi all and happy christmas
I'm struggling to keep up with this thread, but I wanted to say that if anyone is struggling still with a baby that won't settle at night, try a baby sleeping bag. We've got a couple that can be used from 7lb 7oz so we've had Isabelle in it for a few weeks. It's great, because if she falls asleep feeding on me then I can put her in her basket and she doesn't notice a drop in temp.

Has anyone tried to make their baby feed at regular intevals? Izzy likes to feed every 2 hours during the day and I've been advised by a couple of friends to try stretching her to 3 hours. However the HV says I should feed on demand not try and regulate anything. Does anyone have any tips?

Mummy2TandF · 29/12/2006 13:17

HappyCatandIzzy - In respect of Izzy's feeding, I would feed her on demand Freya also likes to feed every 2 hours during the day most days, and although it feels like all you are doing is feeding, it can only be doing them good - I don't know if you have ever tried it but trying to stretch them out to 3 hours can be hell because you have a screaming baby for nearly an hour! I say if they are hungry feed them, that way they fill up during the day and you usually get a better nights sleep too . That's what I did with ds and what I am doing with Freya and it seems to suit - anyway I hope that helps, take Care all

saralou100 · 29/12/2006 14:22

hi guys... a belated happy christmas to you all!! was santa good to you?

i'm not having as much fun as i was... wound got infected and isn't healing very well, now on 2nd course of antibiotics and still very painfull, so that spoilt my christmas a little... i thought ryan was feding well, but for some reason is losing weight.. hv is happy with his latch and he feeds regularly every 2hrs or less during the day.. he's still my contented little man, wakes only once at 4 o'clock during the night.. still love being his mummy!!! just could do with feeling better! still not been discharged by the madwives!!

happy new year to you all.. me and ryan shall be raising a toast at midnight (if i manage to stay up that late!!)

xx

schmizaj · 29/12/2006 15:18

Saralou - Hope infection heals asap.

Happycat - Not sure how old Izzy is now, but Verity 5 weeks and still wanting to feed every 2 hours during the day mostly. I figure that the more I feed her during the day the longer the gaps at night. Not scientific but works for me. I think you'll figure what works best for you.

Good tip about the growbag as last night was a nightmare, worst she has been for ages. Really screaming every time we tried to put her down and then ages to pacify again, it was draining. But I think it was staying out late that did it, think that if she doesn't go down at normal time in normal way she is a lost cause. Will see if that is true tonight and will start using the growbag.

Grey old day isn't it? I'm quite sad xmas is over, it was fun dressing her up in xmas clothes and opening prezzie's for her & me!

fatbetty · 29/12/2006 15:56

Merry belated Christmas everyone! I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I can't believe it's all over. I hate it when all the lights come down in the high street. Just seems so gloomy.

I haven't had time to catch up with everyone's posts but hope you are all doing well with your LOs. Madeleine is 5 weeks today and is doing great since her hospital stay 3 weeks ago. I can't believe how much she has changed since then!! Just wondering from the rest of you if your babies have lots of baby acne. Madeleine has horrible spots and red blotches on her face since she came out of the hospital (partly due to the tape used to hold oxygen tubes in place). Although some days it does look better, it's now all over her chest and back of neck. HV and GP don't seem too concerned about it - just told me to keep an eye on it. Is anybody else experiencing the same thing?

Does anybody else have worthless HV? I feel like if I voice a concern with them it goes in one ear and out the other.

podglet · 29/12/2006 21:42

Hi all,

Hope you all had splendid Christmas's. Santa really spoilt DS and I.

Happycat - definitely feed on demand with Izzy. Go with it, plonk yourself on the sofa with a big glass of water, the remotes and the phone and settle in. I had to get my head round this when ds was feeding every 90 mins for 3 days straight.

Grobags - they are fab, DS did like his but thrashed around too much in it and woke himself up. He still has to be swaddled up tight at the moment. he also sleeps on his left hand side which is where the zip is so it was uncomfortable.

he has been referred to the paed at the hosp for his reflux as the baby Gaviscon isn't really working. he is happy in himself but the reflux really upsets him. hope the appointment doesn;t take too long

If I am not on before, hope you all have a lovely New Year - we will be with DP's dad, on our first night away from home with DS - gulp

Bethbe · 29/12/2006 21:51

Hiya!

Hope you all had a lovely christmas, and that you got help with childcare!

Ross is doing well, - he's showing signs of smiling, - it's not wind I'm sure, - but it doesn't seem to be completely under control either.

I keep having dreams about trying for another, - anyone else?

Podglet: Sorry to hear about the reflux but what are the symptoms? Ross is sooo noisy at night, - sometimes I wonder if he is having trouble breathing (we have all had nasty colds though). He sometimes cries or shouts out in his sleep!

bethbe

p.s. I've started another thread in Postnatal 'Newborns - What they don't tell you'. Please add to it if you feel you can.

Thanks Mygirl - it's just what I was told to do and it really worked for me!

Bethbe - there is a really good thread on reflux here at the moment. It has links to reflux sites on the web and lists the symptoms. The noisy sleep thing isn't neccessarily the reflux, I am a very "mobile" sleeper and DP is a noisy sleeper so it could be the genes! Love the other thread by the way - they are all so true!

Off to Kent tomorrow, have probably packed enough for a week but keep thinking of things we will need!

fatbetty · 30/12/2006 21:11

At least we're not alone mygirl! Her acne/rash seems to get better during the day but during morning and evening it's horrible. Very red and blotchy. I just wonder if she may be allergic to something. I use Persil non-bio for washing clothes and wonder if that causes any problems.

Well, this is likely to be my last post of 2006, what a year!! This time last year George wasn't even at the 'thinking about going for no.2' stage, now here he is - most definitely here , and no. 3 may not be that far behind him, and I never thought I'd say that!!!

On a sadder note can I just ask for some positive thoughts for my sister please, she has two gorgeous (thankfully) healthy boys, but has suffered lots of miscarriages in between them, she is now pregnant again, but had a bit of a bleed yesterday, she is only 5 weeks so too early for a scan, though HPT's are still showing positive so fingers crossed her little one holds on.

We have spent the day tidying and cleaning our house which has been pretty much a pigsty since the contractions started all those weeks ago, all the christmas stuff is packed away, all the decorating we were doing before he was born is now being very much appreciated instead of being hidden behind mounds of stuff!! My house is back to normal

I think it is time to open the bar and start to see this year off with a bit of style and see the new one in with our new little addition

Fingers crossed for as good a new year as last, cheers everyone xxx

saralou100 · 31/12/2006 18:30

happy new year everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Debbsyandson · 31/12/2006 21:20

Ive been wailng all day feel so lucky to have my gorgeous little boy sniff sniff sniff xx

podglet · 01/01/2007 15:12

Happy New Year!

Back home now - we were very spoilt at the in-laws. DS had a lovely time until the local fireworks went off a midnight and he woke up terrified. he then didn't settle for the rest of the night and was up every hour.

Debbsey - yes, I have been a bit teary at the new year with my new baby, especially as he is 2 months old today and isn't very new any more. I am already missing that tiny bundle that he was gosh I'm soppy!

KaybeeandZak · 02/01/2007 09:50

Hi,

Have just posted a pic of DS on the member profiles as he was 2 months yesterday!! A sort of shameless bump if anyone is interested!

saralou100 · 02/01/2007 11:48

hi all!

podgelet, he is sooooo cute! lovely picture!

mygirl, why not ask for the refferal now? if it's worth keeping you awake over, surely it's worth asking for now iyswim. i know nothing about club feet i'm afraid, so have a hug from us ((((((hug))))) i bet not sleepin and being tired is making it all seem so much worse.

well, i have to go and see gp later for 3rd lot of antibiotics, bloody wound! and i'm waiting for hv to come and weigh ds2, fingers crossed he's put on weight! i started a thread for a bit of help, big mistake, they started rowing over qualifications and what advice is right or wrong... the dark side of mn which i usually keep away from! (but bethbe's thread is hysterical, lmao reading that one!)

right gotta go get dressed whilstds1 is sleeping, it's my 1st day alone with these 2... dp has finally starteda new job today!!
