Morning all! A shiny new thread for Easter.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, I'm off to eat copious amounts of chocolate whilst hiding in the floor of the nursery with Ewan the sheep Easter Grin

A royal baby girl!

I feel all warm and squidgy about it, watching the news channel. I'm hoping for an Alexandra.

STIGZ · 02/05/2015 19:30

I kind of feel a bit bad when someone announces their pregnancy because even though i know having a child is the best thing in the world, i also know that the first year of being a new parent is a totally life changing experience and no one can ever prepare you for whats to come. It honestly took me about 2 years to feel like myself again after my first, well a new version of my old self Hmm if that makes sense ? I think i also mourned my old self & old life for a good while. Now i feel like i could never go back to my old life without kids, i honestly dont know what I done with all my free time, oh yeah i do ... I slept and slept and slept .....Grin and drank Wine and more Wine and [more wine]

FATEdestiny · 02/05/2015 20:08

Oh I love new babies and hearing that people I know are pregnant - it's such an exciting time!

Much to the rest of my family's annoyance, I have watched Kay Whatsherface on Sky News all day, it's only just been switched off.

MundayCakes85 · 02/05/2015 20:25

Really happy at the safe arrival of the new Princess, but how the hell did Kate look so amazing? Even with a team of hairdressers, stylists, make up artists I still would have looked like a bloated, pale, just pushed a person out of myself mess!! Not jealous at all!! Envy
I can't wait to feel a bit more like my old self Smile

Omg a hangover with 4 kids is not fun :(
We got dressed up and went out for posh dinner with two friends last night was amazing but my god I'm suffering today!
I know why I don't really drink anymore.
Kate did look unbelievable and very swishy and glowy! Aah it's made me feel all mushy. Think she was very brave wearing a white dress just after giving birth. Hope she goes hope takes her face off and sticks her tracky on! Grin

ohthegoats · 02/05/2015 22:33

I was worrying for her white dress on the drive home!!

I got dressed up properly to go to Mothercare on day 3 - was knackered after 10 minutes and had to go home back into my pajamas. I bet she'll have a night nanny for a bit just to sort herself out... if I was going to do it again, I'd have one too. Just for two nights.

We went out tonight after the worst night's 'sleep' in ages last night. Babies with colds.. urgh.. and having to actually share a bed with the boyfriend. First time he's properly helped me in the night since she was born though.. he's a right off today. Ha.

MundayCakes85 · 04/05/2015 09:23

Morning all! Left DH to breakfast duties today, so apparently she's not hungry. Think it might be that she got bored so tried today her bib instead!
Hope everyone has fun bank holiday plans Smile

Princess Charlotte then. I like it Smile

My Mum has taken my older 3 for a daytrip today. So just me, DH and baby, which has been lovely and quite tranquil.

MundayCakes85 · 04/05/2015 19:51

I like the name Princess Charlotte, but all names are after family members. Do you think they had a choice?
I am currently sporting a red nose from where my DD has head butted me, twice. I also have a sore eye where she kicked me during a nappy change.
What's the Mum's Line number?!?

OP posts:
FATEdestiny · 04/05/2015 21:33

I once head-butted the top of the car door frame while bending into the car to sort out a carseat. I have a massive, massive egg shaped lump and purple bruise as a result. Bloody hurt.

The things we go through for these children?!

DD is now climbing to standing position, she can pull up the edge of the sofa to stand. Had an incident last night where she was about to stand in the cot. The only reason she couldn't was because the top of the cotside was too low for her to straighten to standing. If I hadn't caught her in time she'd have straightened up and launched herself over the side of the cot.

Time to lower the base height of the cot I think. Which is the end of an era because it's a co-sleeper so I can snuggle up close whenever I want to. Can't do that once she's not the same height as me in bed.

ohthegoats · 05/05/2015 08:39

We've got crawling and pulling up going on too. Spent yesterday making our downstairs a bit less of a death trap for her! Still no real floor down on concrete though so I expect lots of bumps and scrapes.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 05/05/2015 11:09

Wow, impressive babies crawling and pulling up already! DD sits up and can shimmy round on her front a bit but crawling feels like a good way off yet. Thank goodness, I'm in no hurry for her to move, that's when the real work starts!!

STIGZ · 05/05/2015 11:11

My wee pumpkin is no where near crawling or pulling her self up, much to dd1's disappointment, she keeps asking when she will be able to play with her, bless Smile dd1 never done either, she just got up and walked which was very strange to see Shock

Igottastartthinkingbee · 05/05/2015 11:23

Gosh STIGZ, no warning?! Just walked?? What age was she?

STIGZ · 05/05/2015 12:16

Igotta it was about a week before her first birthday, i will never forget itGrin i am glad dd2 mostly stays in the same place for now, as like you say when they are on the move, its fun & games Hmm i am so paranoid about the wee bits & bobs dd1 has lying about the place, something i never had to worry about first time around !!

Buttwing · 05/05/2015 12:31

Babywing not sitting yet, or pulling up he's quite good at spinning round on his tummy though! Maybe he's going to be a break dancer Grin
For a baby who was being sick at any food touching the back of his throat he's doing so much better we've actually progressed to some finger food.
Dp is down in London today he had to leave at 5 this morning leaving me with an awake babywing who didn't go back to sleep. He's gone for his nap now I'm hoping he will wake in a better mood .

ohthegoats · 05/05/2015 12:53

Mine is crawling around her cot/my bed at 3am at the moment... wide, wide awake for about an hour. I have no idea how to deal with it - she's got a cold which is waking her up more (every 45 minutes or so last night) at the moment, but the wide awake thing? Gah. I'm at one of those stages where you can't ever see sleep happening again.

Sleepywaterbaby · 05/05/2015 15:07

Goats, I have a friend who is trying a night nanny tonight. Will feedback if it is worth it.

That would be good to know about. I have a friend with a husband who works away a lot - she had a night nanny for the first 6 weeks. Obviously that sounds ace! I have googled agencies around here but can't help thinking that my boyfriend should step up and take on a night to give me time off. He does know that it'll probably be him needed to stop her wanting food when she wakes in the night, but so far no actual plan in the diary. Strange that.

Sleepywaterbaby · 05/05/2015 20:19

6 weeks of night nanny!? That is amazing. I understand though, if you're on your own and can afford it.

My DP gave me a night off when we had a rough time with the sleep. Your lo takes a bottle doesn't she? That makes it easier for the bloke.

Right, every bottle says 0-6 months. Am I supposed to give bubba her milk in something else? I read that no spill beakers are bad... Not really sure what I should be doing.

Sleepywaterbaby · 05/05/2015 20:20

We get back shuffling bump. Like she's trying to crab. Absolutely knackers her. She pants like she's at the gym.

FATEdestiny · 05/05/2015 21:27

DH gave me the night off last night as it happens. She's hard work at night at the moment with the "No, we lie down to sleep" and hand on chest. Repeat, repeat, repeat. It's just a phase that goes alongside the new skill though Goats, it will pass.

MundayCakes85 · 06/05/2015 10:14

A return of the night sweats Sad think this might be because we are weaning off the boob.
Also was up half the night with a very snotty baby, a lovely throw back to the early days! Smile
