holls E is on 3 meals a day but doesn't always eat everything and is a milk monster so his milk intake hasn't been affected lol.

The calpol plug in stung my eyes am I too sensitive?

E has another cold oh yay! I put a few drops off olbas oil on his back at night (he sleeps on his tummy) run the humidifier and use saline drops!

Did anyone watch here come the triplets?

cookielove · 20/03/2015 20:18

Actually it was called the triplets are coming!

lilone1234 · 20/03/2015 20:47

cookie - The Triplets Are Coming sounds like a horror movie lol. What was it? When? What channel?

First semi successful meal today - avocado! She's definitely swallowed something this week though, evidence in nappy today!

cookielove · 20/03/2015 20:50

lil it was on ITV last night, my friend featured an the show :)

jaykay34 · 20/03/2015 21:15

cookie My mum watched it, she was telling me about it today. Has your friend got triplets ?

KitKat1985 · 21/03/2015 06:27

Someone I know had triplets - in fact I think they were also Sept 14 babies. I look at the photos they post on FB sometimes and just think 'when on earth do you guys get to sleep'?!?

cookielove · 21/03/2015 06:47

jay no she has twins she lost one in the womb!

And they sleep through the night!

Zanashar · 21/03/2015 08:33

Holls, re: milk intake, Z still seems to be taking 900mls of milk ??
She's dropped equivalent of a bottle (7oz/210ml) from 5x7oz per day to 5x6oz now. Plus a few oz in her breakfast. Maybe she's not eating enough food? She has three meals daily with varying degrees of success depending on what's offered.

Hope your LOs cold goes away soon. Z has almost managed to shake hers off completely (2 weeks now) Hmm

Nazly, hope your LO starts settling in soon. I can only imagine how horrible you must feel leaving him.
We haven't looked at any more nurseries and now I'm in a dilemma about work. I'm planning on going back for three days 9-6pm BUT now have the option of another job which is 30 mins away rather than 10 and would be 7-4pm. The new job would potentially be less stressful but DH would have to drop DD off at nursery as I start too early. He says he's okay to do that but I'm worried if she has a tantrum etc. I'm also in two minds as been with current company ten years now, and what if the grass isn't greener? I know all this isn't very baby related but any input is welcome.

Wishing you all lovely weekends! xx

jaykay34 · 21/03/2015 09:25

cookie Aww my mum told me about her. How on earth does she get her twins to sleep through the night, mine were actually about 10 years old when they first slept through Shock . I'm definitely crap at the night stuff !

zanashar Good luck with whatever you choose to do. What is your gut instinct ? Personally, I would stick to what I know for a while when I go back- but that's just me. I am quite fed up of my job and want to look for something else, but the familiarity will be nice when I first return. At least if I'm feeling down and disheartened, and missing J, I can offload to a colleague - plus I know the job inside out so will not be having to learn new things after such a long period at home.

cookielove · 21/03/2015 19:13

jay I am very envious lol, her boys are 9 days older than E and have been sleeping through for months. She is very good at routines and use to be a night nanny so really she is cheating Grin

jaykay34 · 21/03/2015 21:18

cookie Haha...i definitely need some tips from a night nanny. She sounds amazing !

CumbrianExile · 22/03/2015 01:08

zan Choose what is best for you. Not helpful i know but i guess or has to be your choice. List of pros and cons of each? May help?

Back to weaning (sorry) but how long is it taking peoples lo to accept puree?

cookielove · 22/03/2015 04:49

E was quite accepting of puree, his ever finger food took almost 2 months and it is still hit or miss whether he will eat it Confused

Some days he will be really good and eat everything and others not so much, I have also introduced lump's and he is doing really well.

In the early days he wouldn't open his mouth for food lol so I had to trick him e.g make him smile and shove the food in or try and catch him with his mouth open!

TeamEponine · 22/03/2015 07:52

We are a week into weaning and DD still isn't too impressed! Barely anything goes in and she's not enjoying the whole thing too much. She did seem to like apple purée and baby rice, but it really bunged her up. She will swallow the occasionally bit of banana, but I don think that is intentional on her part! I'm tempted to stop and try again in a couple of weeks, but I know I need to persist and just keep trying her with different things.

Acorncat · 22/03/2015 08:16

I gave up on puree after a few attempts, he just wouldn't open his mouth. Changed to finger foods and he's much more keen. He'll take a spoon for soup and yogurt but I give him a loaded one.

KitKat1985 · 22/03/2015 08:51

A month of trying to wean here and Jessica isn't interested in food in a puree or a BLW way. Sigh. Getting quite frustrated now.

jaykay34 · 22/03/2015 09:28

J loves baby rice/baby porridge and sucking on apple or cucumber. We have only been weaning since Tuesday, but he's taken to it well and seems to know what to do.

Yesterday, i made him a butternut squash puree and he wasn't keen, although i think there were tiny lumps in it. He still opened his mouth for it though, and he likes to stick the spoon in himself.

I think J is going to be more of a solids kid, than milk. He grazes milk, never usually has more than 4ozs at a time, and will turn down a bottle. My elder son was a milk glutton and would have had it all day.

So weaning (which I was dreading) is actually going well so far.

We do sit J up at his highchair when we have meals and did so for a couple of weeks prior to weaning so I think he feels he is joining in.

topmammy · 22/03/2015 10:35

J has always been ok with purèe. Not finger foods though. She won't use her arms/hands and wants me to spoon feed her lol. Lazy bones. Remember though that food before 1 is mostly for fun so I wouldn't panic if your baby isn't into it in a big way. I know it's hard not to feel frustrated though.

Team I think banana is notorious for bunging babies up. Prunes on the other hand... Grin

I think J may be a bit intolerant to dairy. Not allergic but when she's had yoghurt she is really extra grouchy and windy. It might just be a coincidence but i'm keeping off the yogurts and milk (both of us) for a while to see If it helps. I certainly feel really 'light', I think I'd got used to a bloated stomach kind of feeling.

In other news I'm trying hard to stop this cosleeping because I don't like it much. Not because I think it's dangerous but because it's blooming uncomfortable lol. Got 4 hours in a row last night from midnight before she ended up in my bed so that's some progress at least.

Off swimming again later. Thought I'd try again even after last weeks awful time. I hope i dont regret it, though id probabjy regret not trying more though. Going to get her in disposable nappy and happy nappy at home then put wetsuit on her at the pool. Got a fleecy babygrow to shove her in after swimming that has a zip so I hope if she does scream then it'll be a much shorter time. Fingers crossed!

CumbrianExile · 22/03/2015 10:35

Thanks ladies, I was started to worry that A wasn't liking food. Thought I would be feeding him milk til he was 5! The only thing he seems to like are breadsticks, but he doesn't really swallow much of that.

He does like grabbing the spoon, but he then just rubs the food in his hair!

CumbrianExile · 22/03/2015 10:36

Hope it goes well Top Smile

holls2000 · 22/03/2015 11:34

jaykay oh I am so glad you said that about the milk b is definitely more food than milk now!!!!

OP posts:
jaykay34 · 22/03/2015 15:45

holls J's always been a grazer with milk and it's worried me a bit. I've tried leaving longer between feeds to encourage a whole bottle and he's just not interested - just ends up having less. He puts on weight steadily though so it's not been too much of a problem, and I've put it down to "that's how he is".

It's so nice to see him enjoying his solids...he got excited when I put his bib on this lunchtime Smile .

holls2000 · 22/03/2015 18:49

jay I tried not havungt his 3pm bottle the other day thinking he would have loads at bedtime. he didn't.

topmammy · 22/03/2015 19:34

Thanks Cumbrian. Swimming wasn't half as bad as last week thank goodness! There was crying but less intense and for a shorter time. Hurrah! Grin
