No teeth here yet either. In the past two days Jessica has started babbling - predominantly 'da da da da'. It's very cute!

Acorncat · 15/04/2015 10:15

I did use spiral pasta but it kept falling apart, I think I was trying to make it soft enough to chew but actually was overcooking it. I'll try passata for the sauce, good idea.

We've had bottom teeth for a couple of months now, top 2 on the verge of coming through. I didn't realise the top ones come through the front of the gum, i kept looking underneath.

Babbling has just started too, just the dada dada but it's so cute. Getting a bit more mobile too, not crawling but just going up on his knees which moves him backwards quite effectively. I'm not looking forward to him moving about, my house is such a mess and really not baby proof. I like that he stays almost where I leave him

ApplesTheHare · 15/04/2015 10:17

Home-made bolognaise with pasta has gone down really well here. I used mince, onions, garlic, basil, oregano and tinned tomatoes and simmered on a low heat, then blended with a teeny bit of pasta in to try and take down any acidity from the tomatoes, but that's just because dd had such bad reflux that I still try and avoid anything too acidic.

Other big winners here have been spinach chicken, creamy salmon, pea and pesto fritters, and blueberry loaf. My Lovely Little Lunchbox has loads of good recipes for finger foods. Fritters are a great size to hold in both hands and pull to pieces inspect.

We have 2 teeth cutting through atm, and dd has taught herself to clap on demand. Who knew she'd even heard the word clapping???

Honeybear30 · 15/04/2015 10:19

We have no teeth here either. And I think DS is one of the older ones at 7th Sept. No signs at all, and I keep hearing horror stories so feel like I am anticipating a nightmare!

Yesterday he found a new noise 'ba ba ba ba ba' and is repeating it over and OVER! Wonder how long before it grates? I have been saying 'mumma mumma mumma' for months but to no avail lol.

RedToothBrush · 15/04/2015 11:14

DS says Mummmmaaaa when he wants food or has just done a massive shit. He's started saying something that sounds like DH's first name rather than dada. DH is gutted and really upset by it.

Apparently election leaflets are tasty. DS has just thrown a hissy fit after I removed one from his gob. The third one this week. He doesn't seem to have a preference for Labour or the Conservatives. No Lib Dem or UKIP ones yet so I haven't been able to try those out.

holls2000 · 15/04/2015 12:18

re election leaflets we have only had ukip and labour.....neither v tasty but he ripped the labour one up!!!

b has a temp but calpol is bringing it down I think. worrying tho

DD prefers the newspaper to election leaflets. Twice now I have returned into the room to find my unread newspaper pulled apart, scrunched, ripped up and scattered around the floor.

Too tired to give the dreamfeed last night (I went to bed late), I accepted that I'd need to do a nightfeed, but was pleasantly suprised. She slept without stirring at all 7pm-6am. That was an earlier than normal night too (because we had early evening guests). Hoping that pushing bedtime back to 8pm may get me a 8pm-7am.

Honeybear30 · 15/04/2015 18:02

Red your post made me lol! DS is not using words. He makes a 'mmmmummmmmhmhmhm' noise when he is upset which I hoped would develop into a 'mumma' but no :(

I didn't realise that's what election leaflets are for! Must remember when the next one pile of crap comes through the letterbox.

J also makes the "muuuuuuuuummmm" sound when he is upset. And that's the only time he makes it.
He's got a lot more sounds now, and babbles alot. He talks in a very sweet voice to DP, I get a louder more brash voice Wink .

Sleeping is absolutely awful at the moment. He wakes every 2 hours every night without fail. I'm finding it draining...infact I'm so tired that his crying doesn't automatically wake me anymore - it goes into my dream. I know what the issues are - he can't self soothe at all, he doesn't have a dummy and I pander to him at night for an easy life (short term).

Apart from the lack of sleep, everything else is pretty good. We have had a lovely Easter break...lots of quality time with all 3 kids. I'm lucky that I live both on the coast and near lots of rural land...there is a lot to do when it's sunny. I'm really gonna miss the big kids when they go back to school. Then it's the countdown to returning to work in June Sad .

ella Same here, regarding messy inhabitants of a lived-in house Smile . My older kids just don't think...and neither does DP...just glancing round my living room now and I can spot ecig oils on the window sill, hair grips and loom bands on the carpet, the PS4 cables precariously hanging down.....
I feel like I'm looking at one of those spot the hazard pictures that primary school kids get where you circle what's dangerous Smile . I can see my whole life soon consisting of picking up crap before J picks it up.

holls2000 · 15/04/2015 20:54

temp up again. calpol re administered and he has been up and watched some cricket with dh! now attempting bed for the third time tonight (v out of character). cheeks red hot. Sad

What is his temp holls? Maybe ring NHS 111 if you're concerned. x

TeamEponine · 15/04/2015 21:29

Oh Holls, your poor little thing. Hopefully the calpol does its job and you can all get some sleep.

Ella - 5.30 is DDs usual time to wake up. I am an early bird, but it is early even for me!!!

Honeybear30 · 15/04/2015 21:37

Oh dear holls :( any other symptoms? Do you think it's a cold/teeth etc...?

holls2000 · 15/04/2015 22:15

rang 111. out of hours doc rang me back - calpol, strip him off, ibuprofen, plenty of fluids. b got vvvv upset (hugely out of character) so hasn't given himself chance to cool down if that makes sense. he is (finally) asleep. applied anbesol which seems to have helped which would suggest teeth but goodness only knows. have even resorted to white noise again to settle him. he did not want to go in cot which would possibly also suggest teeth (read somewhere that they hurt more lying down?!). also he has had plenty to eat and drink today and I think if hugely ill he would be off food. anyway. Nurofen is at the ready for when he wakes up.

also totally realise I'm clutching at straws with the teeth thing.

Thanks ladies (is it sexist to assume the regular posters are female?!), esp re: ettiquette 101 RedToothBrush!

holls2000 is your LO's forehead hot? or just cheeks?
if just cheeks, maybe it is forhead? Someone told my husband that lying down increases blood flow to baby's head, therefore increasing experience of pain :( ?could you put towel or similar under cot mattress to create a very slight incline?
if in doubt at any stage though, phone back 111 or out of hours gp. The staff are there overnight, and paid to be there, they're not doing it out of the goodness of their hearts! Not meaning to sound nasty, just re-enforcing that the service is there to be availed of! LO is clearly not usual self. I'm a big believer in trusting your instincts; you're his parent and know him best, not the doc!

topmammy · 15/04/2015 22:35

Not been about for a few days.... mostly just busy drowning in laundry and housework. Oh and discovering our house needs a total rewire, nooo Sad

Anyway... naps here are difficult as she won't let me put her in her cot for them. They have to be on me or in the car/pram. She has 2 naps a day generally of about 40 minutes to an hour and they are always after a bf. She wakes 2 or 3 times a night too so is no way getting 12 hours sleep a night. She must be almost as sleep deprived as me!

Car seats.... I'm hoping to get the britax dualfix as I've heard good things about it. Quite pricey but if I have more babies I hope to get my money's worth out of it!

cantbelieveimonhere · 15/04/2015 22:35

*maybe it is teething

d'oh stupid baby brain! Blush

ella I think we have the same living room Smile . Ours could be a bit more spacious, but DP seems to love huge furniture (this is his house that we moved in to), and I don't know if I can actually ever safeproof it Sad . There is a huge oak coffee table (currently in the middle of the room as the spare edges are crammed with baby things), which J loves to slide under on his back. The other day he started to roll over when he was very near it so I decided to rearrange the room and move all the baby crap out and put the coffee table near the edge. J didn't like the change, and despite having a whole floor to play with...still slid on his back up to the coffee table Sad .

The last few days have seen J become a lot more active...he rolls over all the time now, especially during changing - and I think he will crawl very soon as he can push himself along on his front and back. When the big kids are back at school, I am really going to have to rethink the whole arrangement of our lounge....

holls I do hope B gets better soon. Such a worry when they are ill.

ApplesTheHare · 16/04/2015 06:33

Ella I don't mind baba, lol or xxx but since having dd I've developed an irrational hatred of the word 'mama'. I think it's the sheer number of blog posts about babies it appears in, while nobody ever uses it in real life. Very silly I know! Grin

holls how was the rest of your night? Thanks

holls2000 · 16/04/2015 07:23

Morning all. Gave nurofen at midnight. Then checked him at 3 and the poor thing was soaking wet, inc sheet and mattress, but temp normal, so full change and put him in pjs and his sleeping bag, and temp is still normal now at 7.20. Do bBies get 12 hour bugs?!

Ella I don't mind most of the sayings that mumsnetters hate. Oh no, am I not a proper mumsnetter?

Thank you all so much for your support last night. Xx
