Sorry to hear DD is having sleep problems again Team. Hope you have a better night tonight.

DS is averaging 4 poos a day now & today we have reached 6 but I think that's down to teeth. This a bit tmi but just needed to ask a poo related question. I can tell what DS has eaten from his poo, ie the food isn't being fully digested. Is that normal?

Nazly, how are you & DS getting in at nursery now, any improvement?

holls2000 · 10/04/2015 19:14

We are down to one a day from 4 - there is a lot of straining and grunting and crying, so I get the feeling it's taking a while to get through. Have stopped weetabix for the time being.
I can often spot bits of veg in it, topsy, so I think normal?!

Feeling v tired at the moment. Not sure why.

topsy we are doing puree mostly so no we can't tell what E is eating although of course I know cause I am the one feeding him :)

CumbrianExile · 10/04/2015 19:58

Topsy I spotted a whole mushroom slice in DS poo the other day. I assumed it was normal, and was actually quite pleased as it meant he actually ate the mushroom and I wasn't going to find it somewhere random haha.

Acorncat · 10/04/2015 21:40

Definitely lots of undigested food here, lovely! Sleep still terrible though for the last 2 nights he's fallen asleep all by himself, while I'm cuddling him still, but no rocking, feeding or white noise needed. Now if only he could repeat that for the 10 million other wake ups at night Hmm .

I've ordered a Fitbit, really hoping it'll give me the motivation I need to stop gaining weight keep active and lose the extra baby weight. I'm setting a target of September as that's when I go back to work and I don't want to have to ask for a bigger uniform! Plus I have a wedding to go to and don't want to buy a new dress.

Nazly · 10/04/2015 21:52

Tops defo normal, both more number of poos and bits of food in them! It is already getting less here (still 2-3 times though) and no bits of food

Nursery is still no good I am afraid.

Apple sleepng- Ours definitely got worse last couple. Of months. He used to get up only once but now it is 2-3 times and that's with co sleeping from middle of night onwards (hard job to keep waking and getting out of the bed at night if you have to work tomorrow); I wonder if I'll end up paying for it big time later

Nazly · 10/04/2015 21:55

Oh holes I put a few dried prunes in some cooled boiled water and gave ds a little bit (he didn't like it but had a couple of sips) and the result was magical in poo department !

holls2000 · 11/04/2015 00:09

I find peas and sweetcorn are easily identifiable!!

b has started straining during the day. tonight he has done is twice and so hard that he has made himself sick. its not constipation as he has gone at breakfast time but it's a lot less than usual and the being sick thing makes me nervous. he has had a bottle and is now asleep on me. I think I will prop his matress up with a towel - does that sound ok?

This is going to be an incredibly boring post, so please feel free to ignore! Having been inspired by you wonderful ladies, I've started on my "get fit and lose baby weight" quest and I've now completed my first week. I think it will help to post occasional updates to keep me motivated. I hope you all don't mind?!

End of week one:

  • Lost 2.5lb (aim 1 stone)
  • 7 minute workout everyday (aim everyday)
  • Walked 33km (aim 30km, but working on increasing my pace to doing a km in 10 minutes, currently I'm at around 11.5)
  • No chocolate at all!!! Grin

Very happy with my first week. I know that weight loss is greatest in the first week, so I'm hoping for about 1-1.5 lb per week from now on.

I'm most impressed with having no chocolate at all for a whole week. I'm usually a two bars a day girl Grin

Hope all of you other ladies who are on a similar quest are getting on well.

Not sure how DD was last night. DH was up working most if the night so he looked after her. Sleep is wonderful, I just wish DD knew that!

TeamEponine · 11/04/2015 06:53

Holls, I don't think propping up the mattress will do any harm. If he's struggling to go, maybe some prunes or mango would help? I find that baby rice bungs up DD and makes it difficult for her to go. Does he have much baby rice?

holls2000 · 11/04/2015 07:31

Team, well done!!

He finally managed a poo at 3.40am. The sick was cisne was straining so hard, I'm sure.
He usually has one around breakfast time. Do I put some prune purée on his bread this morning? Do I wait for straining to start then give prune in yoghurt or watered down oj?

KitKat1985 · 11/04/2015 08:38

Well done Team! Excellent start! My weigh in day is tues and trying to avoid weighing myself before then but will let you know how it goes too.

Holls would it help to give B some extra water as well to help soften the poo?

lilone1234 · 11/04/2015 10:26

Holls - i'd give prunes before the straining starts. I have a batch of it in freezer so DD has it every few days, usually with yoghurt. More water if you can manage will help too.

Re. Food in poo - DD loves beetroot and when she's had beetroot puree she does purple poo lol.

TeamEponine · 11/04/2015 15:27

DDs rash is getting worse and it is starting to worry me, so I was wondering if any of you might recognise what it is, or have any ideas.

She's always been a dribbler and has often had a few little spots, but it just seems to be getting worse. It has also spread up her nose and towards her cheeks, so is outside of her usual dribble zone. I have noticed a few similar small spots elsewhere on her body, but they come and go.

Any ideas? It is starting to look quite sore Sad

FATEdestiny · 11/04/2015 15:31

Holls - Increasing water intake completely resolved all of DDs constipation and hard poo issues. We give in the form of weak squash and watered down fruit juice as well as plain water. Drinking more was the key.

She now drinks between 300ml and 500ml of non-milk drinks per day. All of my children have been big on their fluids - usually drink around 3 litres of water per day, so DD must just be like her siblings. Better than some school children we know who drink barely 500ml per day.

Not needed to try prunes. If I did I think I would do that in the form of watered down juice once a day as a preventative thing, rather than just when constipated.

FATEdestiny · 11/04/2015 15:37

Crossed post Team - I'm sorry, I can't help with the rash. Not something I recognise.

Any other symptoms and does it feel like sandpaper? I don't think it looks like the rash, but Scarlet Fever is on the increase at the moment so may be worth checking:

ApplesTheHare · 11/04/2015 18:30

Holls my new fave to give dd every few days to ward off constipation is 'figgy pudding' - aka a little pot of fig and pear purée. It seems to help keep things ticking over and she loves it!

Team fabulous effort to get in shape, I'm so impressed! Please do share updates hereSmile How are you feeling for having lost so much? DH is dieting this week and aiming to lose 2lbs but he feels dreadful for it Shock

ApplesTheHare · 11/04/2015 19:43

Random question and may be tmi but has anyone started the combined contraceptive pill recently? If so do you feel ok? I started taking it a couple of weeks ago when I stopped breastfeeding and for the past few days have had a low-level, nauseous, hungover feeling. I haven't drunk anything or felt like this since early pregnancy so I'm REALLY hoping it's just my hormones adjusting to the pill and I'm not somehow pregnant!Shock

lilone1234 · 11/04/2015 19:51

Team - has she eaten any citrus? I think that's been known to cause a rash particularly around the mouth. I think strawberries and tomato can also do the same though.

I don't know what i'd use in terms of creams on her face though...i'd get it checked. Dribble bibs can be quite good if it's that, because they sit quite high up whenever i've used them they pretty much hide DD's chin altogether!

FATEdestiny · 11/04/2015 21:43

I've not used the pill for years Apples, so can't help really. I am secretly quite excited by the idea that someone on the thread will get pregnant soon. Just as long as it's not me!

I had my copper coil "counselling" appointment this week. Why I needed a discussion when I've already made an informed decision is beyond me. Now on a waiting list for the procedure for fitting .

CumbrianExile · 11/04/2015 23:04

Apples I started the pill back in December, but had no issues with it. Not sure if that helps you at all, but I guess it could be the hormones.

Topsyloulou · 12/04/2015 00:30

Apples I had the implant fitted in January & I could definitely tell I was having a rush of hormones, just didn't feel myself at all. It lasted for about 4 weeks & then back to normal. During that time my hair & skin got really greasy, I got really moody, very lethargic, lots of bloating. In many ways it felt like being in the first trimester again, definitely couldn't have been unless it was an immaculate conception!

TeamEponine · 12/04/2015 03:48

Apples, I went back on the pill a couple of months ago and was fine.

Thanks for the rash suggestions. Fate, I don't think it is scarlet fever as she has no temp at all and none of the other symptoms, but I'll keep checking on them. Lil, she's never had citrus and only strawberries once a couple of weeks ago. I stopped all fruits other than pear and banana a few days ago as the acid started her reflux up again. I've tried a different cream overnight, see if that works.

DD has been great tonight, woke at 11 and 3, that's all!!! Now I can't sleep though Sad

TeamEponine · 12/04/2015 05:39

Has anyone moved on from their stage 0 car seat yet, and what have you gone for?

I feel DD needs something bigger now. Weight wise she is well under 9kg, but she looks too long and uncomfortable in it. Plus, I realised today that I rarely carry the car seat now, only in and out of the house. It/she is just getting too heavy. The whole car seat thing is such a complicated minefield though. Think we will have to go for a stage 0-1/2 as it will be a while before she reaches 9kg.

So far I'm looking at the Joie Stages, Britax First Class Plus or the Cossatto Hootle.

KitKat1985 · 12/04/2015 09:03

Apples I've had a similar 'morning sickness' type symptoms when I've started the combined pill before. It usually eases off after a couple of weeks. xx
