Jay did you say you exercise in home? What sort? Do you follow a plan or a dvd or something?

My problem with exercising is that however I think, I can not fit gym or any outdoor activity as it is just not going to fit anymore with work and baby and all... But I would have loved to do some indoor exercises by myself while ds is asleep or sits watching...

Any recommendations is greatly received.

Nazly · 02/04/2015 22:19

Team the first morning when the clock changed ds woke after 8. At the time I wasn't thinking about clock being changed and when I looked at my mobile before I got up I was pleasantly surprised that it was 8:30 and thought once in his life ds slept longer; then I suddenly realised it is the clock and I remembered you, as you were waiting so much...

For my ds it only took one day to go back to usual too - I wonder why? Probably because we do everything on the basis of time and they pick up on that?

FATEdestiny · 02/04/2015 22:45

Much to my slight annoyance, DDs most used sound is "Adada Dadad Adada" Some "Ohh" sounds and some "Eye" sounds - but no "Ma" or "Mm" sounds.

DS (aged 9) got really excited today - Felicity said her first word!! No, she didn't. She said Dada but it was just a sound, not said in context. It'll come though. One on three so far had Mama first. One had Dada first and one was Baba (baby) - not that it's competitive or anything (honest!) Wink

I sometimes wish that Daddy was slightly less of The Messier of the family! Grrrr

nazly Jillian Michael's 30 day shred is my favourite ! She is very annoying after a while, but it actually works - within a week, I noticed a difference. The exercises are all ones that you know (so not like Insanity where it takes me hours to work out what he's even doing). The workouts are 20 minutes long and there are 3 different levels. I recommend it to everyone !
If I don't have time for 20 minutes then I do a 7 minute workout app that I have on my phone where you do short bursts of exercise for 7 minutes. Again, I recommend this as it's so quick.

Re: Talking. J makes both dada and mama sounds...although the mmmm sound only happens when he's crying and it sounds like he's whining "muuuummm". He is doing lots of babbling now. Sometimes his voice is very loud, especially when he wants to attract attention - but when he babbles to DP, he does a really soft, cute voice.

jaykay34 · 03/04/2015 08:13

Team How is your little one today ? Did you manage to get a doctor's appointment.
And no...no Easter Plans here - all dependent on weather. DP is off work and wants to take J somewhere so we will get out at some point.

ella So cute, the ta-ta thing. We are trying to teach J that. Sometimes he attempts a wave, but not quite got it yet.

lilone1234 · 03/04/2015 09:15

Ella - waving already, genius!

Jay - I may have to get myself that dvd! I love a Davina DVD, they're pretty good but I am currently using the Wii Fit and Zumba on the Wii!

Easter's going to be loads of time in the car. Saturday is an over 2 hour journey to see my aunts, cousins and grandad. Sunday is going to see DP's family. But I guess that's the point of Easter...

TeamEponine · 03/04/2015 09:15

Jay - thanks for asking! I did manage to get a doctor to see her and she's fine. Just a bit of mucus that she can't clear, which is the rattling sound. But her chest is totally clear, which is a relief.

She decided that 3.30am was a good time to wake up and sing me songs! She's so cute when she does that, but at that time it is slightly less cute!

I also have a daddy's girl. She's full of "dada" but no hint at all of "mama". This week she's waved goodbye and is clearly trying to clap, although she's not quite managing to get her hands to meet. She's also really trying to sit up from lying down, but is very far from success! I love this age! I find it so much more enjoyable and rewarding.

I treated myself to some gorgeous new shoes yesterday. I figured they would make me feel like less of a scruff, but will still fit when I finally lose my weight Grin

Oh, Jay, what is the seven minute app? Sounds like I could squeeze that in to my day!

I'm now officially back at work, but I have two months of annual leave still to use up. Feels like I'm now on the countdown though Confused

jaykay34 · 03/04/2015 09:44

Team Glad it's all ok, always a worry when they're ill and so tiny.

Just type Scientific 7 minute workout into Google play (if you're on Android).

I love this age too. Babies definitely become more rewarding at the 6 month mark. You start to see their little personalities coming through.

lilone I got the DVD from Tesco Direct, it was a fiver Click or Collect. My friend found the level 1 30 Day Shred on Youtube though, so you can get it for free on there. I will have to get a Davina one..am getting a little bored of Jillian-isms now Smile .

ApplesTheHare · 03/04/2015 11:01

Jay I'm going to give that short workout app a go, thanks!

Team How's sleep for you these days and more importantly what sort of shoes did you get?? We're going on holiday in May (as soon as we've voted! Smile ) so I'd like to invest in a few new things so I don't feel so frumpy. When I lived in London I loved scouring the charity/thrift shops for amazing bargains (YSL belts, Mulberry handbags, etc.) but that's harder where we are in rural Yorkshire so I'll probably hit the high street!

Totally agree with everyone saying they like this stage of babyhood. I loved dd from day 1 but those first few months are SUCH a hard slog. She is so much happier without the dreaded reflux and loves interacting. Everything is so much easier, more rewarding and enjoyable now. In no way I am a natural at that tiny baby stage!!!! I guess people are all better/worse suited to certain stages and that's a large part of what determines whether you find various stages hard or easy....? Smile

jaykay34 · 03/04/2015 14:28

apples You are so right...everybody has their different phases that they are more natural at. I'm not a newborn person at all, although I could handle J on the basis that he wasn't twins and I knew it wouldn't last for long Smile .
I've enjoyed different phases through the twins lives...the sad thing is you get stages that you love and before you know it, they move onto the next one. I've decided to embrace all of J's - their childhood goes too quick.

And Team Please tell us about the shoes ! Grin

Ah, the shoes!!! Grin I love them... www.clarks.co.uk/p/26104080

Perfect for work or just when I feel like being a little smarter. I'm planning on wearing them with my smart work jeans or dresses.

Ella - that's so sweet!!! Children do come out with the funniest things sometimes.

Sleep has been a bit disrupted as we've been away from home a fair amount, so she's been in a few different beds. But given that she's doing ok. Usually she feeds three times and is quite unsettled for the last hour or so of the night. Some nights she needs quite frequent settling, but some nights she seems able to settle herself. I think we are slowly getting there. Certainly I now have a level of sleep derivation that I can cope with!

For those of you with refluxy babies... Are they still on meds? We've tried reducing the ranitidine, and have reduced it a fair amount, but she still needs a low dose twice a day. And, how are you finding weaning?

Is anyone else doing dairy free weaning? I seem to remember someone else on here has a little one with cmpa, but I can't remember who. Sorry! I've been thinking about trying coconut yogurt with DD. Anyone have any experience with or thoughts about this?

DD is officially a fruit bat!!! Wink

Oh, she clearly put her arms out and leant forward earlier as she wanted her auntie (my sister) to pick her up. So cute!!!

Nazly · 04/04/2015 00:41

Jay thanks so much- I'll get the app and dvd

How is wii fit and zumba lilone? My bday soon and am thinking of asking for one as a gift from dh!!

I am in love - with this stage of ds too... Honestly I would be so very upset when he grows out of this cuteness at some point...

Team my answer is probably useless to you, no medicine anymore since more than a month ago and reflux is gone... He is not taking enough liquid though Confused so it maybe related to that

lilone1234 · 04/04/2015 05:36

It is a lovely baby stage. Certainly hard work though with all the entertaining they want but at least you do get all those lovely smiles and laughs in return.

Nazly - wii fit is good especially for the muscle and yoga work outs but the other games on it aren't really proper exercise as they have to be gentle enough to suit all. Still fun though! Zumba is another story though, that is a proper work out that gets you sweating so together I think they're a pretty good and enjoyable combination. The wii does track your movements on Zumba and monitors your balance on wii fit and it can be helpful to get that sort of feedback that you don't get from a DVDs. The wii balance board also acts as scales and helps you track your weight and both keep track of calories burned too.

TeamEponine · 04/04/2015 06:52

Just done my first seven minute workout! Oh my goodness I'm unfit Sad On the plus side, I think this could work for me. Seven minutes using my phone can be done whilst I pop DD in her jumperoo to watch a bit of cbeebies. Although, she seemed to find it hilarious watching me, and she joined in with the jumping Grin

I just weighed myself Sad I need to lose a stone, and I want to do it before I go back to work. Is a stone in two months unrealistic?!

jaykay34 · 04/04/2015 08:25

Team Love, love, love the shoes ! I'm a bit of a Brogue fan, I've got a similar pair that I've had for ages...and both my boys have brogues too Smile .
Well done on your workout. A stone in two months isn't unrealistic atall...it's only about 3.5 pounds per week. Don't do anything too faddy or you will crash and burn - just try clean eating, where you swap more processed foods for healthier alternatives. Also muscle weighs more than fat so you can be really lean and weigh more than what you look if you see what I mean.
Good luck with it all Smile .

ella That's so lovely, your boy sounds so caring - what a credit to you !

KitKat1985 · 04/04/2015 09:39

I also am much preferring this stage of Jessica's life. She's so cute and interactive now plus she sleeps so much more at night . I didn't much enjoy the newborn stage and really struggled with it.

Team shall we lose weight together? I joined weight watchers on Tuesday as am 11 stone 3 and a half pounds and I want to be 10 stone. Have been good so far and got on scales this morning for a sneaky mid-week weight check and scales already say that I'm 11 stone 1 and a half pounds, so that's a good start. I want to get to my goal weight before I hit 30 in the summer. I've been saving my points though and intend to have some treats today as I'm out for dinner and then drinks for a friends birthday.

A stone in two months is do-able. So basically you need to lose half a stone per month which means about 2 pounds a week.

KitKat1985 · 04/04/2015 09:47

Oh and on a side point, does anyone have any tips for dealing with dribble rashes? Jessica's little chin is starting to get quite red now. Sad

CumbrianExile · 04/04/2015 09:52

This stage is definitely more rewarding. The smiles and giggles make the harder work of constant entertainment worth it.

Although I have found DS is starting to be able to entertain himself more, as long as someone praises him now and again! I can even shower without him starting to cry.

cookielove · 04/04/2015 10:03

Hello all I have been MIA (missing in action)

As we moved sadly not to our new flat but to my parents but I suppose it is one step closer.

I am a fatty I need the loose 4 to 5 stone eek!!

Acorncat · 04/04/2015 10:18

team I have the other cmpa baby Easter Smile

He's still on full reflux meds (ranitidine 2.3mls twice a day and 1 ompeprazole tablet). He still needs them, he'd gotten worse again before the last dose increase.

I use coconut yogurts, he loves them! They're so expensive tho, I split 1 over 2 days. They're pretty horrible (to me) so I add fruit or buy the ones with fruit already in them. Other than that we're struggling a bit finding things to try but that's more to do with the egg and soya we're also avoiding.

RedToothBrush · 04/04/2015 11:04

DS was an easy newborn. I've struggled more lately. I'm just being to cope with the crawling after we have sorted out the front room better. He sleeps worse now than he did as a newborn though which I think is the heart of the problem. Everything feels worse on no sleep.

DS appears to have an allergy to the washing liquid we use. I have very sensitive skin and DH is allergic to fabric softener so not a huge surprise. Friend who is a doctor says she has a similar problem so we are now using a brand from Lidl. And washing everything.

jaykay34 · 04/04/2015 11:08

kitkat Well done for working out the stone in 2 months...I was thinking 2 stone for some reason ! A stone in 2 months is even more do-able than I thought Smile . You will both do it !
