Ladies is this okay? Dd hasn't been happy in her cot so has been in the Moses basket inside it and has slept fine. Tonight I've rolled up two cellular blankets and put them under the sheet so it feels more enclosed as I think that's the problem. She can't roll on to her front from her back yet and im hoping to reduce them a bit when I go in later ( I've put them sticking out so I can just pull them out a bit to make them smaller)

Is this okay?

That sounds pretty safe to me.

Then again my child rolled off the bed last week

Arkkorox · 09/05/2015 20:01

MrsA I can't judge cause dd bounced herself out of the bouncer and flung her self down the step in the kitchen at 3 months with quite impressive force!

Strange how different they all are - ds rolls all over the place and sort of commando crawls but is still just about Ok in a bouncy chair! I'm sure she'll be fine - keep an eye on her if you're worried.

havent our DD does the head quite a lot when she is asleep, there are her hairs left on the blanket where her head is. i think she does it when the sleep phase changes. Is your LO doing it while awake?

haventgotaclue1 · 09/05/2015 21:02

strawberry she definitely does it whilst awake and may be when asleep (I thought the hairs on the sheet were due to her just turning her head. ..didn't even think it could be the head tossing as only just seen her do this)...
Until this morning I thought she was doing it when tired, but this morning she was doing it when wide awake and with a massive grin on her face. ..Hmm

haventgotaclue1 · 09/05/2015 21:05

Ps ark sounds fine to me. ..I've put a rolled up cellular blanket under the mattress on our bed when dd co-sleeps to make it more difficult for her to roll out (mind you, she's not very mobile yet)

Arkkorox · 09/05/2015 21:22

Ive been trying to add a photo on here of DD for 4 days now and every time it crashes. Im trying one more time then throwing the laptop out the window

Havent - my ds used to do this mostly when tired & dd does it too as she is settling off to sleep. She also lifts her legs & arms in the air & slams them down onto the mattress. Its quite funny to watch Grin

We had a worrying day yest, dd had been really irritable since thursday & off her feeds yesterday morning & spent most of it crying. I noticed she had a purple pinprick rash all over her arms & did the tumbler test & it didnt disappear so panicking about meningitis got her straight in at the docs. They thought it was probably viral but best to be checked by the hospital paeds so we had to go straight there. Poor dd was completely exhausted as each time she fell asleep the docs woke her up for more checks/tests but thankfully blood tests showed no signs of infection & they said it was likely viral or caused by her coughing. We were finally discharged at 10.30pm last night so she slept in til 8am & had a mammoth 3hr afternoon nap to catch up today. So relieved it was nothing serious.

catg83 · 09/05/2015 21:48

omama that sounds terrifying. So glad it all worked out ok.

Thanks for the adorable pictures ladies. I will see if I can work out how to get DS up on here. Tend to us the app so don't think I can from here.

DS slept for about an hour in total today. Nightmare. Fed to sleep every time he fed and then would wake up after 5 mins crying. Snuffled up. He went down about an hour ago but the monitor just went offConfused

TwigletFiend · 10/05/2015 06:38

Glad it turned out to be ok omama, hope it disappears soon and your DD feels better soon.

Hope you ended up with a better night than expected too catg!

Thanks for pictures, hopefully have attached one of DD. I left her for the longest so far yesterday - I went o Badminton Horse Trials with some friends and left her with my DM for nearly 10 hours. A whole day! Apparently she was a delight, smiling away and playing all day, had her feeds from the bottle with no fuss and had some mashed banana happily, slept at normal times with only a bit of a whinge as she got tired. Success! I took breast pump with me and sloped off to express as we walked around the course and had a really lovely day. And DD only woke up once in the night for a feed and otherwise slept in her cot all night! I feel like a new woman!

haventgotaclue1 · 10/05/2015 07:44

omama that is exactly what dd does with her arms and legs too (can hear her doing it now whilst "singing" to herself! ). Really glad to hear that the rash was nothing serious. I took dd to docs for similar reason about a month ago and after having called 111...I guess you can never be too safe. ..

Eventful night here: dd went to sleep in cot bed at 7.50; awake at 8.30 & took 70ml of ff; slept until 9.30 & awake again so bf; asleep from 10-2 when shesstarted singing, playing and coughing. ...decided to try to bf her to sleep. ...this went on and off from 2-5 before she eventually went back to sleep until 6.30.

So, my question: would you leave her in the hope that she'd eventually fall back to sleep or would you have intervened as well? (We'd tried shushing etc but she was too awake for that to work)

Strawberryfield12 · 10/05/2015 08:09

Beautiful baby pictures!

omama havent yup, the arms and legs bashing! In our household it gets accompanied with loud farts Blush We had a laugh with DH about what if grownups would do the same. She was bashing legs with so much strength that her crib and our bed was shaking, the cot bed is sturdy so we don't get any shakings during the night.

omama good to hear it was only a scare and made me realise how little clue I have about what could go wrong. DD is currently actively blowing raspberries and I think she had some red spots on the chest from the bibs being soaked. Your post made me google baby rashes and there are sooo many.

Arkkorox · 10/05/2015 10:41

havent quite often dd will have had enough of her bottle ( 3/4am feed) and I just go back to bed and leave her to it. She just lies there shouting And talking to herself until she falls asleep!

havent DS is still in cosleeper cot so very hard to just ignore him when he is awake at night. I try to give him 5 mins or so to see if he will go back to sleep and if not I usually start with a hand on tummy with shh shh shhhhhh (like a train), if that doesn't work pick up for a cuddle and a rock. If that doesn't work boob. When he goes into his own room it will be easier to leave him to it I think as he rarely crys at night just lies there awake slamming his legs and practicing the whistle note from "Loving you" Grin

haventgotaclue1 · 10/05/2015 17:23

Right, so dh and I have decided that depending upon how long it goes on for and the volume, we're going to try to leave dd to it unless she's actually crying. ...will update you tomorrow Wink

happypotamus · 10/05/2015 17:28

I have had a bit more sleep the last couple of nights (since we stopped feeding her dairy but still not sure if that is just a coincidence). By more sleep I mean 3hr stretches with only brief feeds in between so still not wonderful but a lot better than a total of 2 broken hours mostly spent sitting up holding her while she cries. I actually feel worse today though after more hours sleep!

Today we had a completely covered head to toe poo incident. I got her bathed and changed, left her in the bathroom while I took rubbish downstairs, when I came back she had wriggled and rolled to right behind the door. Good job I opened the door gently.

omama glad to hear your baby was ok after all.

ladydolly · 10/05/2015 19:11

Yikes, these babies are mobile!! Similar situation, when I went to put a nappy in the bin and when I got bag she had wiggled over to the high chair leaning against the wall, I had visions of her pulling it on herself. Time to nail everything down!!!

omama · 10/05/2015 21:10

Thanks everyone. DD is completely fine now.

Lovely pics everyone Smile. I'll have to try & add one tomorrow. And wow mobile babies! DD has managed to do a 360 while laying on her floor mat but she's not really moving around the room yet thank the lord! Need to master sitting & rolling first!

Is everyone elses babies doing proper giggles now? DD smiles & squeals quite a bit but doesnt really seem to laugh properly yet. I can't remember when ds started.

Greenstone · 10/05/2015 21:17

Glad dd is ok omama. Scary for you.

Just popping in to share new toy of the moment - a balloon! Dd1 was playing with one and dd2 went mental having a go, bopping it around and lying on her back watching it be bopped up and coming back down. Hours of cheap fun.

haventgotaclue1 · 11/05/2015 06:45

I'm pleased to report back that the "leave them to it" view seems to have worked Grin! Dd put in cot bed (asleep) around 7.30; woke at 9.45 for a feed; had some to-ing and fro-ing until 11.15when we then let her get on her arms and legs bashing / shouting. ..think it may have lasted for about 15 minutes, but don't really know as when I next looked at the clock it was 4.30 (that's good going for us at the moment! ).

Dd awake around 5.30 so gave her a feed (still full of cold and want to make sure she gets enough fluids) and put back to bed. Have heard some playing going on, but currently all quiet on the western front Wink

Strawberryfield12 · 11/05/2015 07:04

Congratulations havent! I sometimes find that it works when she fights a nap. Discovered it by chance when walked away for a moment after trying everything on her and simply had enough. On my return minutes later she was fast asleep. I guess I must be fussing over her too much that she didn't manage to go to sleep.

DD tonight has been playing a new game - turn clockwise around the bed. Every time she woke for feed I found her sleeping across the bed, perpendicular to our bed with head towards me. I would turn her back parallel to us just to find that she is back where she was few hours later.

MrsAukerman · 11/05/2015 07:21

Baby who normally poos 3-5 times a day has now not done one for 24 hours. He ate at 3 meals yesterday which is probably why but I'm scared of what will come out!

Arkkorox · 11/05/2015 08:36

Yay clever babyhavent!

Mrs A perhaps its a stay at home in old clothes day lol.

I had to do the same with dd last night and just leave her to it after and hour of trying to settle her. Gave her a dream feed when we went to bed at half 10 and she woke us up chatting at 8!!
