Not sure what's going on. ...dd now been feeding/comfort sucking/sleepingfor 2 hrs 15 mins Hmm

Now solely bf as dd decided not to accept top up ff in evening. Definitely still using pads!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 07/05/2015 13:24

Just got dietician letter to make appointment regarding baby cmpi now we are starting weaning.

Anna there are a few baby porridge without milk in Ella kitchen is one we have just finished a pk and moved into normal porridge with expressed milk and I add some fruit puree in too. Just brought some weetabix too try as co OP own on offer as was shocked how expensive weetabix are. We have been having veg like sweet potato, carrots, butternut squash which have batches cooked and blended with expressed milk and froze in ice cubes tray and then bagged we then mix and match once knew he liked a flavour he eats 4 ice cube worth and about 4teaspoon of fruit after for pudding.

Next roast dinner prob Sunday going to mash up a roast dinner for him and then move onto casseroles, curries, fish pies etc

happypotamus · 07/05/2015 15:26

Thanks for advice re potentially weaning CMPI baby. The problem is that's am lazy and envisaged doing a BLW sort of thing so she could just share our meals and I wouldn't have to cook her separate meals. My 6 week dairy-free in December time showed that wouldn't work. Anyway, I might be jumping the gun worrying about this yet. Will see how we get on over the next few days.

MrsAukerman · 07/05/2015 19:13

Dairy -free veggie baby ideas :
Avocado
Nut butters such as almond or hazelnut
Houmous (homemade probably best due to salt)
Scrambled eggs
All veg and fruit obvs
Lentils
Quinoa

ladydolly · 07/05/2015 21:33

1st night in cot instead of in with ne tonight. Woke at 9, shhing didn't work so feed, back in cot and asleep for now. Wish me luck!!

catg83 · 07/05/2015 22:52

Good luck ladydolly

Watching the election results. We usually sleep with the TV in the bedroom on mute so we can just wake up look at tv to see results and go back to sleep. Not this year as light disturbs DS. Bit depressing if this exit poll is right. Night all. x

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 08/05/2015 05:02

Good luck lady dolly

Still no election results

Strawberryfield12 · 08/05/2015 07:13

Sunderland example shows that election results could be in by midnight same day, but of course it would steal the show of some eating their hat publicly...

ladydolly · 08/05/2015 08:42

Wake ups at midnight and 3, fed and put back in cot and straight to sleep, amazing. But up and 5.40 and wouldn't go back to sleep so brought into bed where she dreamfed for an hour. For the first night I'm happy with that.

Now, weaning, she seems to have enjoyed baby rice and sweet potato and to some extent parsnip but doesn't like apple or pear, do you think its a texture thing? Seems unlikely that she doesn't like the taste of sweeter food?

Checkes in on election at each feed, shocker. Although we were already a conservative area.

Thisisimpossible · 08/05/2015 10:00

For once didn't mind being woken up early because there was something decent to watch on the TV! It's going to be an interesting few years with the way Parliament is shaping up. Hats off to Nicola Sturgeon who, regardless of your political views, has to be applauded for heading an impressive campaign for the SNP. It is so nice to see an articulate and intelligent woman heading things up for a change. .

Ladydolly, we are a week into weaning. He's enjoyed baby rice, carrot and sweet potato so far, although he wasn't particularly fussed about eating sweet potato again this morning. I think the jury is out on the puréed broccoli! Haven't tried fruit yet because he gets so overexcited every time I've given him Calpol, grabbing the syringe and dragging it into his mouth (he doesn't get it that often either) that I decided to try to get the veggies established first.

I'm half bfing, half ffing. I try to tank him up on ff at night in a vain attempt to get him to sleep (it doesn't) but I'm struggling with how much to give him overall. I was giving him 210ml feeds at 4pm, 6.15pm and then dream feed at 11pm, bfing the rest, but I'm wondering now if that's too much ff too close together. The HIPP box I opened yesterday says 4x210ml feeds per 24hr period for his weight/6 months. I am finding it really hard to gauge how much he needs. Everything is changing and up in the air again.

ladydolly · 08/05/2015 10:32

thisis I agree, the women in these election campaigns have shown the men a thing or 2 about how to behave with dignity and fight with passion with respect. The photo of them all hugging after one of the debates is awesome.

Babydolly also loves calpol and like you I planned to hold off the sweet stuff but then added it to baby rice to see what she thought and it wasn't goer. Think I'll try carrot and see how she likes it.

Struggled with naps this week, realky fighting them. All the guidance seemed to be put them down at the first yawn/eye rub but this morning I waited a bit longer and she's now been asleep over an hour and a quarter, longest nap since newborn days!! Of course now we've missed sing and sign because of it...

Thisisimpossible · 08/05/2015 11:13

It's all change on the nap front here as well. His morning nap is getting longer and longer. We missed Daisy Wrigglers on Wednesday because he was still asleep, and we are currently on track for 3 hours this morning if he makes it to 11.15. Unfortunately all our classes during the week are in the mornings. Confused

Strawberryfield12 · 08/05/2015 12:03

Also very happy about women getting more power in Westminster and hopefully it is not long till it stops being old boys club where people with no relevant background are making decisions only because they are well connected. I will confess that it is puzzling me that persons who as members of Bullingdon club were trashing pubs etc., years later are allowed to lecture the whole country on "working hard and doing the right thing". Surely the vandalised places were the hard work of somebody?

Nicola Sturgeon is impressive. To gain all the places despite of Conservatives scare tactics, that's something. This might be a step towards another independence referendum. With my background I do sympathize with nations striving for their self determination and independence, while it is a bit scary how things could unfold in Britain. I guess, if Scotland votes for independence, the rest of us will have to congratulate them and take it from there.

And Conservatives will have to keep their word about the referendum on EU. If Scotland votes for independence before 2017, the polemics about the EU referendum might be rather interesting.

MrsAukerman · 08/05/2015 14:02

I just had to rock ds to sleep as he wouldn't feed to sleep. Don't think I've done that for a long time.
Day 4 of weaning and baby led seems to mean mainly throw it on the floor. Some goes in but more at some meals than others. Found some courgette skin in this morning's nappy so he definitely ate some of that. I seem to be doing different food for him than me when really he should just get chucked bits from my plate. I need to plan ahead with meals a bit better. It's a learning curve for all concerned.

catg83 · 08/05/2015 22:35

Hello all. DS is still full of cold. Me too. He went to bed at 8 and has had to be resettled twice from big sobs. I think it is from being bunged up and coughing. He is on calpol and I have a tissue with some Olbas Oil on near his cot. We gave him some saline spray before his bedtime boob. Anybody got any more advice on colds in a grumpy bugger?

All this weaning is very exciting. We are still a way off but cannot wait.

MrsAukerman · 08/05/2015 22:51

Tilt the whole cot with books under one end. Frequently boob him. You got nose sucky thing?

Arkkorox · 08/05/2015 23:21

Snot sucker is the way forward. Boots sell them if you need one tomorrow. Can sympathise as this was us a couple of weeks ago!

Very excited about weaning here too. Dd is 5 months today!

Cat also try ibuprofen, snuffle babe on feet, mum n me bath range do a menthol cold one for, bowl hot water in room with drops olbas in, tie muslin to cot with olbas on, damp cloth over warm radiator. (Sorry due to silent reflux and cmpi congestion has been a daily/nightly nightmare for us hence trying loads things).

Cot tilting really helps as previously mentioned.

haventgotaclue1 · 09/05/2015 06:56

catg83 welcome to the club! This has been us for the last week too - both dd and I are full of it Sad
Only other thing we're doing apart from everything already mentioned, is putting her in the bathroom to breathe in the steam when we have a shower. Not wholly convinced that it works but she doesn't mind it and I'm willing to try anything - she looks like (and sounds like) she's been attacked by the snot monster. ...think we just have to ride it out though. Oh, do regularly take ds temperature though as when we did this found that her temp was 38.5 and so immediately gave her a dose of calpol which did the trick.

catg83 · 09/05/2015 07:28

Thank you all. We only had a few wake ups in the night which were from him coughing poor bugger. We can't do the cot tilt due to a co sleeper. Have sent other half to the supermarket this morning (we have been up since 6) with strict instructions not to forget the snuffle babe, more Olbas, baby ibuprofen, menthol baby bath and biscuits!

Arkkorox · 09/05/2015 08:14

Hope you and your babies are better soon catg and havent it's just rotten.

Bizzare night last night, refused her dreamfeed at 10:30 then woke up at half 3 absolutely hysterical. Tears streaming down her face and could hardly catch her breath she was crying so hard. Managed to calm her down walking around the house and she took a bottle and went back to sleep till half 7 but I honestly thought something awful had happened to her, jumped out of bed so fast I knocked a pint glass of water all over the poor dog lol

OP posts:
Strawberryfield12 · 09/05/2015 11:58

Cat put something under the mattress in one side, that will have the same tilt effect.

haventgotaclue1 · 09/05/2015 13:20

Just given DD her first taste of "solid" food Grin - VERY pureed and runny carrot! She wouldn't take the spoon in her mouth, but licked some off it and didn't seem to mind it - seemed to make an awful lot so have just made up a load of ice-cubes of it...

Anyone else's baby tossing their head from side to side (quite violently....)??? DD has just discovered this over the last couple of days...she tosses her head around and also waves her arms like a windmill Hmm...Am wondering if this is a common trait at this stage or is it just mine who is doing this?!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 09/05/2015 13:44

Cat hope little one is better soon and love the essential biscuits on shopping list make sure he makes you a cuppa to go with them on his return :)

We are back to 2 wakings at night but better than 6-8 Times a month ago.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 09/05/2015 13:47

Haven't I have the nuby long handled spoons never used with ds1 but they are great ds2 just had it at edge mouth and kind of laps at the food unless he shoves the spoon in.

He also has some finger foods as doing mix of blw n puree went out for brunch and he chewed on some ciabattta (highly recommend Bella Italia for breakfast was yum)
