Cannot deal with 4:30 am poonami. Full clothes change. And we're still up Sad

I'm waking dp up at 7 to take over regardless of his moaning about it. Oh and period came back yesterday and boy do I know about it, can't even kip on the sofa cause Sod's law I'll leak. Gaaaaaaah. This is payback for her sleeping from 7:30 - 7:30 with only 2 feeds on Monday isn't it.

MrsA we were deffo at the Ikea at the same time. Small world!

He slept from 9-7.30 with 2 short, easy wake ups. I feel like a new woman! Even if it is just a one off at the moment at least I have some reserves now. He is having his 3rd set of jabs today. Never got the letter telling us to go so just rocking up at baby clinic for them today. Generic paracetamol suspension at the ready!

Thisisimpossible · 22/04/2015 09:08

The White noise made no difference on Monday night unfortunately so I'm not sure that Ewan will work as well for us. Thanks for the suggestion Anna. I loved the rain one, it reminded me of summer thunderstorms Smile He was up nearly every 20 minutes or so again so we ended up co-sleeping again at 3am.

However, yesterday I met with a friend who showed me a reflexology move that you can do that releases the diaphragm. She said it's supposed to help them if they have sleeping problems. I did it on him after his bath and he slept from 7-9, short feed, and then 9-3.40 with a dream feed at 11, and 4-5.40!!! Woohoo! Of course it may be a complete coincidence... It did make me realise how much I miss my reflexology sessions though so I am going to get one booked in.

I did some reading yesterday and I'm going to regiment our bedtime routine for the next month in the hope that we can crack it before he gets clingy with me leaving the room (haha!). It's been reasonably consistent up to now but I don't always bath him, so I'm going to make sure I do everything in the same order and bath him every night. We've got away with being quite relaxed with him routine wise up to now, but if this horrendous night time activity is a result of that I will be embracing a routine with both arms. I can't carry on like this!

Having just read the link on the right to the Off to School thread, I'm suddenly fretting less about the lack of sleep thing. It made me realise how much I'm going to miss him when he starts school and that I should probably think about treasuring all this special time we have together.

MrsAukerman · 22/04/2015 10:06

Well if you saw a tired blonde baby with a mum with blonde plait and daddy with dark floppy hair then that would have been us. He was in a stripy ring sling for most of the time.

Strawberryfield12 · 22/04/2015 12:10

It seems that every time DD gets hold of Ewan she is now switching it on herself, been few times. I hope that's just a coincidence of her fiddling with the Ewan's feet and not her deliberately doing it or we are in for a troublesome years ahead.

Have started baby swimming twice a week, DD seems to love it. Don't remember myself being soo happy about her delayed morning poonami finally happening before we hit the pool though. I am sure that no swim nappy and specialised baby swimwear can hold in the amount she is passing most mornings. That would be just a bit too much of embarrassment them evacuating other swimmers and closing the pool for hours to deal with my daughters yellow stuff...

Annarose2014 · 22/04/2015 13:00

I have to admit that even Ewan made no difference to a horrendous night last night. He was unsettled all night and finally wide awake from 3.10 - 5am. Poor Ewan was on the whole time and he's starting to sound a bit raspy! I may as well have had on Monty Pythons Greatest Hits for all the help it was.

It was odd cos he didn't seem unhappy or in pain - he was just wide awake! Lying there chattering to himself. LOUDLY! I eventually in desperation gave him Nurofen at 5 and he slept......for an hour. Then up for the day at 6am.

I really hope it was just an anomaly!

Strawberry how do you manage dressing yourself in the changing rooms afterwards? I want to start bringing DS but can't figure out the logistics. Where do you put him whilst you're dressing yourself? Do you bring the pram into the changing rooms? Are you even allowed do that??

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 22/04/2015 13:08

Weaning going well here Inc snatching my banana and had some broccoli florets Mon otherwise just spooned porridge once day he is 22 weeks tommorow.

Teething really bad fed at 4am and then refused to feed until porridge at 11.30 and had water in barker eventually had a feed at 12.30 my boobs were killing me.

Gave ibuprofen this morning which has helped n loads teething gel.

catg83 · 22/04/2015 13:27

Anna I found it really intimidating the forst time going on my own. But we persevered and i kearnt the lesson of eberything taking an ectra 15 mins with a baby! When we go I take the car seat in. Get him dressed while I am in my swimsuit, pop him in car seat, sort myself out and then feed him in changing rooms. Back in car seat for longest nap of the week. Wink

Strawberryfield12 · 22/04/2015 13:35

Anna in our leisure centre there are two baby and parent changing rooms, so while she is on the changing table, I keep an eye on her while getting dressed myself. I also take the pram inside for getting ready (toilet runs etc) and then push it to the place they have to be left afterwards. Fire safety apparently. After first time when everything took AGES, I am now making sure her and my clothing is as simple as possible to get us both ready after swimming as she is all ready for nap and gets irritated and noisy if I mess around too much.

Strawberryfield12 · 22/04/2015 13:39

We at the moment are only slowly getting DD ready for idea there are more things to eat apart from milk, not giving anything proper. She has tasted vanilla yoghurt and has sucked on the plum and mango I had been eating. She doesn't really get any solids in but a bit of taste and it is funny to see surprise in her face. Didn't seem to be too impressed with banana.

haventgotaclue1 · 22/04/2015 21:26

We haven't even got that far strawberry! Have offered dd a grape and some banana to touch and the grape went straight on the floor and the banana wasn't even touched! She seems to like watching me eat and drink but has no interest in moving off from breast milk! Mind you, she's doing ok on it....got her weighed today and she's moved up to the 98th centile...no wonder her little legs won't fit in the bumbo anymore Wink

Greenstone · 22/04/2015 22:54

I've barely left the bedroom tonight! Bloody teething, anyone else?

happypotamus · 23/04/2015 02:05

We gave up on bedtime tonight and let DD come back down otherwise I would never have had dinner. She has a terrible cold: thick snot pouring from nose, eyes streaming, almost constantly coughing, very unhappy little girl. We ave had 2hrs sleep so far. Tomorrow is DD1's 4th birthday so could do with sleep to be able to function and have fun with her. DH hasn't come to bed yet. That used to be normal for him but lately had been going to bed at more sensible times. He will be tired and miserable tomorrow as well then because, although he isn't going to work, DD will want him up to watch her open presents when she gets up in 5-6hrs.

Arkkorox · 23/04/2015 07:32

Green and happy how did the rest of the night go?

OP posts:
Greenstone · 23/04/2015 07:53

Morning - I finally escaped the bedroom at 11pm after having been in there all evening more or less (she cried anytime I put her down). She slept til 2.30, then fed, then slept 3.15-7am. So by our standard it was actually a really good night between 11-7. But I'd been trying to get her to sleep for about 4 hours before that!
It really seems like teeth but there's still not the faintest sign of one.

How was everyone else's night? Happy I hope your dh is pulling his weight now he's recovered a bit from his op?

catg83 · 23/04/2015 08:40

After his vaccinations we had a brilliant night. He slept through from 9-5. Amazing. He was very grizzly and not himself so I was worried it was going to be am awful night but he proved me wrong.

Arkkorox · 23/04/2015 08:46

We had a good night, 7:30 to 7:30 with feeds at 9 and 4!

Everything has been hilarious this morning apparently. dd has just been giggling at everything! The dog sneezing set her off for about 5 mins lol

OP posts:
ladydolly · 23/04/2015 09:42

Up every 2 hours here. So 10, 12, 2, 4 and up at 6.30. Teeth are really bothering her, she gets so upset, shoving her cuddly bunny in her mouth :(

Annarose2014 · 23/04/2015 12:19

Our night was a bit shit again. Just like the night before DS was awake for one and a half hours for no reason. From 4am to 5.30am.

He's so clingy today, crying every time we put him down or every time something bothers him, that I've popped him in the sling and may just keep him in it all day! He has also started this new thing of freaking out whenever he's put on his back, which means tantrums now every nappy change or clothes change. The screeching is going through my bones!

The Wonder Weeks app says that this is normal this growth spurt: "It is very normal that you feel exhausted at the end of this leap."

No shit!

Thisisimpossible · 23/04/2015 15:12

Another horrendous night and DS is now refusing to nap during the day for any sensible period of time. He goes down for 30 mins at the most. He's also been crying all morning whether I pick him up or put him down. On top of no sleep for pretty much the last 4 weeks it's a killer. We just started the leap according to my app. 28 days to go - joy - if I'm not finished off in the meantime.

Strawberryfield12 · 23/04/2015 20:47

havent DD was showing big interest in us eating and when she was trying to grab the plum from me I decided to put it at her mouth to see what she does. And she went on licking it. I think from the plum she didnt get much taste but was intrigued by the texture on her tongue. She did suck out juice from the mango though.
Last few days if I eat something, she is fascinated and if I put something to her mouth she actually opens it as if to copy me, but in most cases it never goes over her lips. It's like a game for her and we intend to play till approx mid May and then slowly take it to the next level.

Thisisimpossible · 24/04/2015 09:52

Does anyone have a Connecta sling? Or a Mei Tai? How do you find it for back support? I have a Bjorn but I worry about his leg position in it. It's great for me but I'm not so sure about him.

happypotamus · 24/04/2015 10:15

Wednesday night I had about 4 hours broken sleep. At about 4.40am DH literally snatched her off me an d said she had been crying too much too long and the neighbours would complain. She did settle quicker for him though and slept on him for a hour. She didn't nap much in the day either yesterday, probably because we were out and about doing things. Last night she decided that not only do I have to hold her, I also have to stand up and rock her fort about a hour, but once we got over that she slept quite well after midnight and woke up for the day at 8. Hopefully she is feeling a bit better today after her sleep. She hasn't fed much much. But probably will makeup Fr it when she feels better

Greenstone · 24/04/2015 10:57

Had another evening spent shushing and rocking in a darkened room. Urgh. And not a good night after that. And this morning the same old battle to do more than 20 mins nap in cot (which I lost).
Hell-oh 6 month leap.
I have an ergo and a kari-me. I really like them both but I am trying to minimise sling time - it's not great for my pelvic floor Sad Blush
