Not good. I think the thing about good naps = good night might have some truth to it.
Tried to get ds down for a morning nap over an hour ago. He fed to sleep then just woke up 10 mins later! Took him out in pram, nothing.
Currently seeing whether ignoring him works! ( he's not crying, just trying to eat Ewan)

MrsAukerman · 20/04/2015 11:58

Sleep achieved. Fed to sleep again.
Any bets how long this one lasts?!

Greenstone · 20/04/2015 12:02

Right there with you Mrs Hmm

Greenstone · 20/04/2015 12:04

Ignoring never ever works here! Apparently some magic babies get bored and fall asleep. Dd plays and babbles and screeches for up to 30 mins. Then cries. And is so overtired and cranky by then that she refuses point blank to sleep.

Arkkorox · 20/04/2015 12:06

MrsA there is some truth in the good naps good sleep thing. Though I just found it was sooo much easier to put dd down for the night if she had slept well in the day, she still can't go longer than 2 hours without a sleep!!

And we're up again. ...sigh

catg83 · 20/04/2015 12:25

anna Brilliant. Lots of water and carbs. Hoping for lots of naps for you today. This really made me smile. Don't be ashamed. Wine

Shit night again here but DP has day off so he took DS downstairs at 8 so I got a couple of hours then. Baby sensory today with water theme Confused

Annarose2014 · 20/04/2015 12:44

I've never been so grateful to have a baby who needs a nap every two hours, lol. Currently he's asleep on me whilst I watch The Food Network - just what the doctor ordered. Grin

Thisisimpossible · 20/04/2015 14:06

Haha anna that made me laugh! Huge sympathy from me. Glad you're getting a rest now Smile

Thisisimpossible · 20/04/2015 14:13

Our sleep regression is ongoing. This last week or so DS has decided that despite a dream feed at 11, it's a great idea to wake up at 1am and party through to the morning. I gave up at 3 this morning after countless resettling episodes and brought him into bed with me...which pretty much worked...but now I'm worried it'll become a pattern and undo all the success we were having with him sleeping in his cot. What a dilemma - potentially create a problem but get some much needed sleep, or stick it out and become a zombie. Gaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh Confused

Thisisimpossible · 20/04/2015 14:16

Or should I buy a Ewan?

Annarose2014 · 20/04/2015 17:05

I swear by Ewan but he's had him for ages so it's well ingrained. You actually can't put it on any other time as he starts yawning! I use it a lot to resettle him at 3am.

Before you shell out, try playing some white noise on YouTube on your phone to see if it works. Some of them are literally hours long. Or Rainymood.com is a continuous rain sound.

Try it tonight and if it works, maybe get Ewan?

Thisisimpossible · 20/04/2015 17:14

Thanks Anna Smile I'll let you know how I get on!

ladydolly · 20/04/2015 19:19

After my worries yesterday ds slept 10-5.45!!! I'm taking that as through the night!!

Today I've had friends visiting so punting, wine filled lunch, afternoon on a roof terrace bar. Perfect. I love mat leave. dd hasn't has long naps or lots of feeds though...

Good work anna!! Shame about the surprise chunder but sounds like a delicious sunday eve!

haventgotaclue1 · 20/04/2015 20:13

Thisis I had the same concern as you re bringing DD back into bed with us when she wasn't sleeping and worried that she'd never sleep in her cot bed again. Totally unfounded. As quickly as she decided she needed to sleep with us, she went back to the sleeping in her cot bed thing Grin
We're still going through the "I'm going to scream the house down if mummy leaves the room" phase...it really is quite amazing. She'll be fine if I'm there with her and DH; I'll leave them together; she starts crying. I come back; she stops.... Surely this phase must stop as suddenly as it started?
She had a massive 2 hour nap 12.30 - 2.30 today and now it's been bloody hard getting her to sleep tonight...

Arkkorox · 20/04/2015 21:32

havent we had the same today! She was on DPs lap and I put a cushion over my face and my god! You would have thought someone had hurt her!

MrsAukerman · 21/04/2015 07:25

He slept 10.15-3.00!
I feel so much better today.
Yesterday was a real struggle and he woke up 40 mins after bed and then 80 mins after that so I thought I was in for a long hard night.
Off to ikea today, wish us luck.

haventgotaclue1 · 21/04/2015 14:16

Oh my god MrsA! You're brave! How did it go? Did you survive? Grin

MrsAukerman · 21/04/2015 14:59

Fine. Had him in a ring sling and got a couple of funny comments. Tried him in the trolley seat - he's definitely too little for that. Dh came too btw before you think I'm superwoman!

catg83 · 21/04/2015 17:25

I went to Ikea today too! A local NCT group has their sling and nappy library in the restaurant. We have borrowed a truly beautiful mei tai carrier. It is going to take me a bit more practice to get it all sitting in the right place but good so far.

catg83 · 21/04/2015 17:27

Woh woh woh. MrsA you live near me in Manchester don't you? Were you at the Ashton one?

MrsAukerman · 21/04/2015 17:54

I was yes. Got there at about 10.15 and left about 12.

MrsAukerman · 21/04/2015 17:57

Anyway logged on to say that ds has done 3 20 min naps all day and then fell asleep on me feeding at 5.20. He's woken up halfway through me typing this.
Late bedtime I think!

happypotamus · 21/04/2015 17:58

DD is full of cold this morning, which might explain the refusal to lie down and go to sleep. Last night I spent over a hour getting her to sleep, she slept long enough for me to wash my hair but less than a hour, then was awake mostly crying until midnight :(
If she repeats that tonight I won't get dinner, because DD1 had dinner at lunchtime at pre-school so DH and I have dinner after the girls are in bed.

TwigletFiend · 21/04/2015 22:18

Glad it's not just me that does that Ark Blush

Anna I raise my glass of white wine spritzer in your honour Grin Shame about the puke but at least you made it to the bathroom. Considerably less shame in that!

We have been out for a pub meal with BIL and SIL tonight and DPs mum had the baby. Got home half an hour ago to find DD snoozing happily on the sofa. Why is it both her GMs can get her to sleep with minimal fuss but she absolutely will not settle for DP when I go out on a Thursday night?!
