Dd slept 7.40-1.30 last night- I'm in shock! She might even have gone longer except dd1 woke for a wee and made noise. Her sleep was much more broken after that but I'm delighted at that long stretch, it's such progress for her.
But she had calpol before bed BlushHmm so that may be why. I can't do that every night!

catg83 · 08/04/2015 10:28

Morning all. We have been to the Dr's today on recommendation of HV. HV referred us to physio as DS is slow on lifting his head and tends to only look right if he can help it. Dr asked if DS was rolling and I explained that I genuinely thought he was trying but was very far off. She examined him and has now also referred us to paediatrician to eliminate anything else. Bugger. DS is a very happy baby and is contented and giggly and smiles all day long. Just obviously a bit slow of the physical uptake. x

Annarose2014 · 08/04/2015 11:05

Mine doesn't roll either, and he's 21 weeks/ 23 adjusted. He gets onto his side but thats it. I daresay a HV would be tutting about it but luckily we haven't seen one in months.

I'm not bothered. As long as he's alert and cognitively seems to be developing well.

We have a very grizzly whiney baby here today. He whinges if you leave him down, but then whinges just as much in your arms. I gave him Calpol and he was still whinging. He wasn't tired either. I presume its his teeth. Hard going. DH actually said to me "I think we're going to need a sling". At 5 months! Thats crazy to me!

And the Wonder Weeks app says his next leap is starting tomorrow. Great! Hmm

By the way, what slings should I be checking out for a bloody heavy 5 month old? I don't want to fuck up my back.

haventgotaclue1 · 08/04/2015 11:43

We're another one that's far from rolling - 19 weeks or 20 adjusted. Like anna I'm not bothered either - didn't even know I "should" be....

Also got a very heavy / healthy baby. ..17lbs at 17 week weigh in. ..sticking very well to the 91st centile curve in her red book, but it doesn't do my back much good either.

After the dose of nurofen last night, dd "slept" (well, I didn't have to go into her room for any reason) from 7.30pm until around 6am!!!!! And even then as she seemed quite ok, I left her there until 7.30 & she still wasn't crying out or anything at that point but I REALLY needed to feed her at that point! I'm in total shock - especially as she's currently 1hr 40mins through a morning nap - what on earth is going on? ??!!!

catg83 · 08/04/2015 11:52

haven't and anna I feel like what had happened is the HV, 10 weeks ago, picked up on him not turning his head left and that is why we got referred to physio and now paeds because it comes as part and parcel. I am going to do these first appointments and then I guarantee I will be told "they all develop in their own time". He is a very happy boy and so I just have to bear that in mind I think. x

MrsAukerman · 08/04/2015 12:11

Annarose2014 either go to a sling library and try a few on or if you want the lazy option ; www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B001JZU8O8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1428491339&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=ergobaby&dpPl=1&dpID=41LZyBauIlL&ref=plSrch

Annarose2014 · 08/04/2015 12:13

DS just napped for an hour and a half (I managed to shhhhhh him when he started rousing from one sleep cycle and he went into a second one) so hopefully he'll be happier now.

Feeding him and he starts straining and grunting then PLOP! I can't help it, it always gives me the giggles! He just looks so serious! Grin

.....And then I check my lap for leakage, lol.

ladydolly · 08/04/2015 13:25

babydolly is currently fast asleep in the ergobaby 360. Really easy on your back. Expensive but they hold their value.

Still lots if night wakings here but I'm managing to doze through her night time chatter now which helps. So pleased it's improving for you guys, well 50% pleased, 50% jealous and it gives me hope for dd to turn it around soon!

utopian99 · 08/04/2015 16:58

A has only just started rolling, and can go back on to front but not vice versa. If you want a supportive sling, woven wraps are perfect for weight distribution and I can still easily carry our 2yo (although he mostly walks now,) despite having a mild spine condition. If you like clippy jobs like the ergo, rose and rebellion do lovely designs - or connecta do super flexible slings if you want a slimline waistband..

I just managed the holy grail of coordinated naps (not easy as ds1 is dropping his nap..) painted all the shelves dh built on Monday. Woo me.

PinkFrenchFancies · 08/04/2015 16:58

Another vote for the ergo baby 360 here, I have back problems but don't feel DS's weight at all in it. Although it is ridiculously expensive!

Back from a lovely Easter with my parents. DS got totally spoilt and DH and I got to eat a couple of hot meals together as Grandma was keen for cuddles! Back to real life now, but sleep has improved hugely and we're now only up a couple of times a night after about a month of almost hourly wakings. That combined with the fact that DS just took his first ever bottle of EBM has made me very happy! I see an evening out in sight...

Has anyone bought a high chair yet? We had a look in John Lewis at the weekend but there were too many options so we left with nothing! I've heard good things about the Ikea Antilop but its a bit of a trek to Ikea.

MrsAukerman · 08/04/2015 17:28

I've got a handmedown chicco polly (?). I sit him in it most days just while I wash up or cook dinner. It's very supportive so good for keeping him properly upright. The antilop (which we tried in a restaurant) is quite big so for my 50th centile boy it was no good and I would think won't be for a while. I do want the antilop at some point though as they're easy to clean.

Sling wise we have a ring sling (not so easy on the back) and we await arrival of a lenny lamb mei tai.

Floopledoop · 08/04/2015 18:18

Been away for a could of days and doing family stuff which has been great but the vague success we had with putting babyyfloople to bed and me coming back down stairs has gone out the window. I'm shattered at the moment though so he's still been asleep by 9:30 at the latest which isn't so bad.

Planning on BLW ( but ready to be flexible), he is 4.5 months and no where near sitting up unaided yet so think it will be a while before we start. He shows no signs of wanting anything other than breast milk yet. Mainly doing BLW cause I'm too tight to buy purées and can't be arsed to make them!

He sat in an antilop highchair while we were away and liked it so I'm going to get one of those I recon. Might get a fancier one later (love the stokke ones but v v pricey), we'll see.

Floopledoop · 08/04/2015 18:20

Anyone got any bib recommendations? Need some better ones now he is drooling more. I prefer the look of bandana ones but can be swayed to the round ones if they are up to the job!

Found that I enjoy dressing and picking outfits for him much more than I thought I would!

Strawberryfield12 · 08/04/2015 19:38

Last night has been back to normal here (touch wood!), hope it stays like that. I think the sunny weather is definitely affecting DD and maybe also some developmental thing. She has been squealing and screeching all day long. We went for a walk with pram and she let a very load squeal out just when we were passing a young boy, poor lad properly jumped as it was so blood freezing and unexpected. Need this to stop asap or my brain is pulsating by the end of the day.

Jumperoo at the moment seems to tire her out very quickly and she is more interested in the toys on it and not in the jumping itself. But I can see the days when she will be in it for ages and I

DD has rolled over couple of times but hasnt done it again as if to say I can do it, but cannot be ar...ed.

We have Babybjorn baby carrier, DD doesn't mind it although never got used to sling Boba wrap. Whenever I tried to have her in it, she would simply scream in my face and try to push against me with her legs and arms about time to ebay the blooming thing I use babybjorn for quick pop outs around the town and so on, have been ok for the back, cannot say how it would be with long walks around the countryside or similar.

Arkkorox · 08/04/2015 20:29

Floople I'm addicted to buying bibs Blush funky giraffe bandana ones are brill. It doesn't seem to leak through to the clothes like I find with the supermarket bandana ones. Plus there are soooo many choices!

utopian99 · 08/04/2015 20:48

Strawberry is that the new ergonomic babybjorn? Would be really interested to know what it's like now they're doing one!

I've probably said before but we have a stokke highchair at home for ds1 and ikea antilop at grandparents. Would definitely recommend the stokke to anyone - ds1 now uses it without the front bar, and as he's 2.4 can climb up himself and still be a sensible chair height. So although they're expensive they save you buying any sort of strap-on chair booster at toddler age etc - ds1 will have his till he's on a normal grownup chair. Also they're a lot cheaper second hand and because they're well made second hand is pretty much as good as new.
We got the ikea ones for grandparents as they can be easily put away, but they tend to trip everyone over (broad base - deemed acceptable though as it's only occasional use.)

utopian99 · 08/04/2015 20:50

Bib wise we found some neoprene ones for ds1 which looked good and has a scoop which worked well but I think they gave him a major chin rash.
What worked in the end was cheap painting bibs from the local poundstore which were ace for BLW as they go from wrist to neck to waist!

Strawberryfield12 · 08/04/2015 23:01

Utopian I have baby carrier miracle, not too sure this is the one you are after?

Annarose2014 · 09/04/2015 01:06

We have thousands of bibs as he's been drooling like a bassett hound for a month now. We seem to have them from every shop. None of them hold the drool back for long so we typically change them 3 times daily.

We find a lot of the bandana ones are quite short. Or maybe its just my baby whose drool extends in a lomg string down to his waistband, bypassimg the bloody bib entirely. Hmm

We did get a pack of plastic backed ones from Primark which are a genuine barrier though and definately long enough. Bonus: he likes that they crinkle and loves nomming on them.

Thisisimpossible · 09/04/2015 08:22

I can't wait for this growth spurt/sleep regression thing to be over. DS woke four times needing to be fed last night between 11.30 and 5. And he's developed a habit of waking up shouting 15 minutes after I've put him back into his cot, just as I'm getting into my much needed sleep. He's generally fine once I've put the dummy in but it shortens my already short period of sleep even further. I am properly grumpy this morning.

Strawberryfield12 · 09/04/2015 09:02

According to wonder weeks 2 days till end of the leap, hopefully it takes away the squeels also. It's 9am and my brain is already throbbing.
Sorry to hear thisis Sad. Hope you can have a nap during the day.

happypotamus · 09/04/2015 09:14

DD can't roll and she will be 6 months old in 2.5 weeks (as DC2 she didn't get her age counted in weeks for very long). She gets on to her side occasionally but then just shouts complaining that she can't get any further. I'm not worried, and we have not seen the HV since she did her initial visit a few weeks after the birth. I have had her weighed at breastfeeding support group and Dr appointments but not regularly.
Putting DD to bed went really well for 2 nights but last night she didn't settle until nearly 10, then woke loads throughout the night. She has also taken to crying and shouting in her sleep at about 6am again, which I could do without.
I was also wondering what would be the next carrier after growing out of close caboo. People often suggest ergo. We already have an ergo, which we got for DD1, but I didn't really get on with it. Will have to get it back out and see what DD2 thinks.

Thisisimpossible · 09/04/2015 09:23

Thanks Strawberry Smile Our latest leap was supposed to finish last Thursday....just as he started feeding every hour and waking up loads during the night! Babies eh?!

DS is 19 weeks today (20.5/21 adjusted I think) and is just starting to lie on his tummy and try shunting himself forward (with much shouting), but still doesn't really roll from front to back or back to front unless encouraged, i.e. with a lot of help from one of us. He also struggles to feed from one boob and I am wondering whether another trip to the osteopath might sort it out like it did last time. Although strangely, he'll feed from that boob during the night - he just gets really upset about it during the day. He had dropped weight from the 50th to the 25th centile 2 weeks ago but given this latest feeding frenzy I am pretty sure it's all gone back on. His 3-6 month tops have got noticeably tighter the last week or so. I am just desperately trying to rolling with it all and trying not to worry too much.

Annarose2014 · 09/04/2015 09:54

Shit night here. DS is just sleeping really lightly at the moment. Could it be teeth?

He had a feed at 11.30 as usual but then at 1.30 he started flailing and moaning so had to be resettled and then at 3am his eyes popped open. I fed him but he wasn't very hungry and he proceeded to sing and chat LOUDLY until 4am when myself and DH were losing the will to live! And his wee paws were breing chewed to bits. So we gave him some baby crack. Blush

He eventually went to sleep at 4.15 but then woke again at 6 for the day. I said no bloody way to myself and gave him 5 oz in a bottle and thank god he went back to sleep till 8am.

That was the first time we'd had him wide awake for a long period during the night. I can't believe some of you have to put up with it regularly - it was torture!

Greenstone · 09/04/2015 10:15

Shit night here too. The previous good stretch was clearly just an evil mind fuck on the part of dd.
In happier news I am getting a friend's jumperoo this weekend -Yay! Might actually be able to hang out the washing and stuff now.
