Dd is just getting vegetable mash so far as well as gumming bananas but I am looking forward to being able to ramp things up with proper finger food in a few weeks. She's wolfing down what we give her to the extent it's making her narky as hell when she sees us eating -- it's a bit annoying actually and I think finger food will better distract her! Did a mix with dd1 and worked out great; honestly though I think the food thing is like the sleep thing: you can encourage good habits but you get what you get! Dd1 was a crap sleeper but a magic eater. We'll see how dd2 gets on. I'm also a bit wary of her+dairy so will keep a careful eye on that when the time comes.

Happy Easter everyone Smile dd's cradle cap is looking slightly better today after all my ministrations!

Strawberryfield12 · 05/04/2015 22:20

Yes Anna, you are and I am grateful as have no idea about baby toys and gadgets myself.
Looks very sensible blog, I always prefer balanced and relaxed attitude to things, this one will not be an exception. Saying that, we let DD to have few licks of easter chocolate bunny. No surprise there, she seemed to like it, but we are now irresponsible parents. Or does the fact it was a posh chocolate excuse our wrongdoing? Well, I guess DD recognises chocolate from when I was pregnant with her...

Annarose2014 · 06/04/2015 00:11

Strawberry when you get it put it on the lowest height and you'll prob still have to put a folded blanket/big cushion underneath so her feet are flat for optimum bouncability!

Arkkorox · 06/04/2015 08:43

Much better night here, back through till 7 with no 2am hysterical crying!

Hope you all had a good night? Woke up and my hair is seriously falling out!!!! No one tells you about this!

Strawberryfield12 · 06/04/2015 09:56

Since DD is 4 months on Saturday we have had 2 really crap nights. I hope its down to being in the hotel and not the famous regression kicking in.

omama · 06/04/2015 19:03

Anna we have a jumperoo too & dd loves sitting in it though cant quite reach the floor for bouncing yet (that said I hadnt realised its height adjustable!Blush)

Ark mine has been coming out for a few weeks now, hoping it will come to an end soon or there'll be none left!

Had a horrendous night with dd last night. Waking repeatedly, refusing dummy, in & out our bed & lots of crying. Topped off with an early start & hardly any naps today I suspect we'll be in store for another rough night tonight.

How is everyone else doing naps wise? Poor dd is being dragged round everywhere with ds during school hols & is so so overtired. She's only doing 20-30 mins at a time & I think this is why our nights are so bad at the moment. I actually feel quite sorry for her as theres no chance of me sorting any kind of decent routine for her any time soon!

Annarose2014 · 06/04/2015 21:35

We only do 30 mins too - I think thats normal for this age. I don't think they lengthen naturally for a few months yet.

But he needs to nap every 2 hrs at the outside. Non-negotiable! He still needs to be rocked to nap as he fights it, but it only takes 5 mins nowadays before he gives in. So wherever I am - even in a restaurant - 2 hrs after waking I have to start rocking.

Doing it by the clock is tedious but it has one advantage - it stops him getting overtired and his mood is generally very pleasant as a result.

Annarose2014 · 06/04/2015 21:37

Oh and mashed banana was a big success today! Don't know how much went down but he went at that spoon like a ravenous beast!

happypotamus · 06/04/2015 21:50

I have put my baby to bed before going to bed myself for the first time! (I am aware that this sounds ridiculous at nearly 6 months and the rest of you of you have been doing that for months or even since day 1, but it is achievement for us). It took longer than I expected, as I wanted to feed her to sleep while reading DD1 a story and sitting waiting for her to go to sleep but DD1 took forever to go to sleep and DD2 fed for nearly a hour but I managed to put her down on our bed without her waking up. It has been nearly a hour and I am tidying my house as my parents will be here on Wednesday. They are picking DD1 up and taking her with them to visit my sister and nieces who are on holiday in Wales for a couple of days. My house is an absolute tip.
We gave her some of the tomatoey sauce from our dinner tonight in a dish with a spoon and she managed to get some in her mouth but didn't look overly impressed. We had strawberries afterwards but she struggled to hold it and obviously couldn't eat it with no teeth so gave up.
Naps vary. She can nap for a couple of hours if I am happy to sit on the settee and not move (I am often very happy to do this) but, if DD1 is around, she wants me to do things with her or will wake DD2 on purpose with loud noises or bumping into her, so some days she hardly gets any nap.

catg83 · 06/04/2015 22:28

happy it is only this weekend I gave started to not go to bed with DS. It is very odd though. Keep staring at the monitor!

Another one with hair falling our here. It just doesn't stop. Sad

moggle · 06/04/2015 22:48

If it's any consolation my hair falling out only lasted a couple of weeks...

Hugs to everyone going through sleep regression... Thankfully DD has cut down how much she's feeding so I'm hoping soon we'll be seeing less disrupted nights. About four weeks ago she went from wanting one side per feed and takig about 10 mins, to wanting both sides per feed and taking 30 mins per side!!! That's when she started wakig in the night again. Anyway in the past week she's gone back down to one side and being quick about it, thank goodness. Last couple of nights she's woken in the night but has gone back to sleep without feeding. I'm keeping my supply up for a bit by pumping as I want a freezer stash... It's novel having leaky boobs again!

Really I think she needs to be in her own room now but with travelling and a lack of routine over easter, and a weeks holiday next week, we decided to keep nights the same for now. We'll be moving her week after next. Eek! She already has daytime naps in her cot if we're at home so hoping it will b a bigger deal for us than for her!!

Hope lots of you enjoyed lovely weather today? It was gorgeous here!

TwigletFiend · 07/04/2015 06:12

BabyFiend slept through!! Shock 9:30 until just before 6 and she's just drained one boob and gone back to sleep. She dropped a nap yesterday but the two she did have were about 90 minutes each. I kept waking up all night on tenterhooks waiting for her to wake! I think im in shock haha.

Hope there were better nights all around? I am still going to bed with DD at 9ish, though she is napping from 7 in the evenings downstairs with us. The weather was so lovely here yesterday, I managed to wash and dry sheets for our bed, DDs cot plus two loads of washing. Mostly her clothes. How can one small person create so much washing?!

Just going downstairs to make a cup of tea and pump - the boob she hasn't touched is like a boulder! Small price to pay though!

Arkkorox · 07/04/2015 06:51

Oooh exciting!!!! Well done babyfiend!

Dd fell asleep yesterday evening at 7 so put her in her cot, she woke up at half 8 bawling her eyes out but after a bottle she slept till 10 when I got her up to change her nappy ( which she slept through!) and give her a bottle, she went through till half 6 this morning so not a bad night from her!

OP posts:
Strawberryfield12 · 07/04/2015 07:37

DD was waking for feed and wind every two hours tonight, so I guess it's a regression not the travel. But tonight has been easier as she is in the bed extension and not in the separate cot. I would be crawling up the walls by now if she would sleep in a standalone cot all these months.

She is firmly sticking to not having a boob on a night either, she I am waking up at 6am to massive tits and express about 10oz in one go. DD isn't that hungry in the morning after all those night feeds, was handy while traveling as the morning milk lasted till afternoon. Have googled about uses of breastmilk and decided to freeze some in case we need it for other uses than feeding later on (ear infection etc).

Also she has become very noisy over Easter, those excitement screams must have gone down well with other people in places we were eating out during the holiday.

ladydolly · 07/04/2015 08:01

zzzzzzzzzz..... wake ups at 12, 1, 2.30 - 4, 6.30 and up at 7.30. When will it end??? I'm trying not to feed her back to sleep everytime which is even more exhausting.

We went to London yesterday, dd had a poonami right as we got on the packed train which involved a full strip down and change right by the doors as we stopped at the next main station. dd not embarrassed at all.

She smiled a grand total of twice in the 4 hours we were there. She's a very serious baby, especially when she's somewhere new and busy with lots to take in. At home she's all giggles though :)

moggle · 07/04/2015 08:47

Well done babyfiend!!
So last night DD stirred at 3, thrashed and squirmed noisily for an hour, then started farting, then pooed, so I had to change her which woke her completely, cue another hour of talking before she drifted off again about 5. Ah well at least it's sunny today so I can't be in a bad mood...

MrsAukerman · 07/04/2015 09:26

Gah. Lost a long post.
To summarise: crap sleep, quitting caffeine to experiment.
Moody sex-deprived dh.
Considering abandoning bedtime as had battles the last few nights.
Lord give me strength.

Arkkorox · 07/04/2015 11:16

Oh dear MrsA

Wine and Cake for you

Anna, you should work for Amazon....another one who's just ordered the Jumperoo from Amazon after your rave review! Have high hopes for it as there were also loads of really good reviews on Amazon - will let you all know how DD takes to it...

Today she's being a complete pickle (and we're going to the docs for her last lot of jabs in an hour...can't wait...) - still, had a big milestone this morning when she actually rolled over onto her right hand side!!! Grin - first time unaided!

Greenstone · 07/04/2015 14:23

Dd being a total ratbag today. Is it teeth or overtiredness -genuinely don't know.

Strawberryfield12 · 07/04/2015 14:31

Are other babies getting more tired with the sunny weather? As soon as I take her outside without pram, she starts to yarn, but instead of going to sleep she gives me high pitched squeals. I an rather tired already and last few crap nights don't help at all.

Annarose2014 · 07/04/2015 14:53

Ratbag here too. I'm guessing teeth as he's not hungry or tired. Getting very weary of the whiny "eeeehhhheeeeeehhhheeehhh....." though. I didn't realise that with all this new vocalisation would come new whiney noises too!

Poor amy. We have had sex a grand total of once, at about 4 months after all my fanjo issues were resolved. But just after that Dad got sick and with the worry and then the exhaustion and then being back in my old childhood squeaky bed and the grief etc etc we've never managed to get back on track.

I keep telling myself that now is the time as technically its all over but my mojo hasn't come back yet and tbh I don't think DH is exactly burning with fire either as he seems not that bothered.

Another snag is that neither of us fancy doing it next to DS who is not a particularly heavy sleeper so location is an issue. Which means it has to be planned to happen in another room, which means no spontenaity.......We'd probably have done it by now if we could have just rolled over on a whim.

I worry that we're going to let it slide and then we'll be like those people in Relationships who are all "We've had sex once since the baby was born 3 years ago..." THE HORROR! Grin

ladydolly · 07/04/2015 16:41

We haven't done it even once!! I am SO crap at taking the pill its probably a good thing. I just don't feel like it and whenever we have planned it (romantic eh??) something ruins the chance. I do miss the affection though :(

haventgotaclue1 · 07/04/2015 20:11

You're not alone ladydolly....another one here who hasn't done the deed in absolutely months....Sad

Strawberry - yes! My DD does the same thing - absolutely yawns her head off but then instead of falling asleep, just lays in her pram gurgling and making "argggghhhh" noises (really loudly) - I'm putting that down to teething...

So today she had the 16 week set of immunisations (although she's 18 weeks) and was really good - in fact her crying was so delayed after the first jab in the thigh that I didn't think she was going to cry at all! But tonight we've had to resort to the baby crack again..her teeth are really giving her pain - loads of drooling and chomping on her fingers today (she won't use teething rings). Seems not too bad during the day, but as soon as we're into the bedtime routine it all kicks off... Just counted up how many times we've given her Calpol and / or Nurofen....since mid-March Calpol = 5 times and Nurofen = 6 times....Hmmmmm. Not sure how I feel about that...she has had a stinking cold for about 2.5 weeks and her teeth do cause her pain, but it's still more than I thought....

MrsAukerman · 08/04/2015 08:40

Better bedtime and much happier dh. 2 wake ups and dh stayed on sofa so we're all well rested this morning. Hope you all had okay nights.
