Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 19/12/2006 15:52

Ash, I'm back to my weight if not smaller but still have a bad jelly belly. Ten times worse than when I had dd.
But in all honesty I havent done any exercise at all.

purpleturtle · 19/12/2006 15:54

I think you do have to accept that your body will always be a different shape. It is important to remember though that this is because you are a mother, and a different shape is small price for all the rewards.

4 months isn't very long post-baby to be in great physical shape. Have patience, Ash. Keep up with the cardio - well done, you! I just went out and bought bigger clothes

PinkTinsel · 19/12/2006 16:04

sssshhhhhhhhh! weight is not to be mentioned the week before xmas! ye mad woman, do ye reeally want to torture yourselves thinking about that before the xmas choccies are opened (seriously though ash, 9 months on, 9 months off. held true for me aftyer dd even thouggh i did nothing to help it come off!)

do you guys have to get your babies weighed so often? we never have it done over here, 6 weeks, 3 months and not otherwise unless we're concerned and bring them down! much more relaxing than having it done weekly. the philosophy here seems to be if they look healthy they probably are healthy! and the charts are mostly ignored for bf babies.

calebs driving me mad with the refusing to sleep now, if he keeps this up i'm going to be a zombie for xmas!

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 19/12/2006 16:42

I'd also like to add that the only reason I have lost the weight, is through my anxiety.
So not exactly sensible eating or dieting.

olivhohoho · 19/12/2006 17:17

Ash - i think you're in good company regarding body shape! I'm nearly back to my pre preg weight (but not for long, having rediscovered my liking of chunky kitkats...) but nowhere near fitting in my old jeans. not worrying about it though, have bought some more instead!! and as for my jelly belly, the less said, the better!.

YF - will be sussing out the dermalogica eye cream in town tomorrow, will let you know.

dd has taken a liking to her swing at last - ten quid well spent!

burstingwithfestivitybug · 19/12/2006 17:22

I'll try and catch up with the thread later, just noticed about pre and post body shape. I weighed myself yesterday and I'm down to 10st4lb and size 14's are getting a bit big on me .
Not bad considering ds1 is 22mths and ds2 is 4 mths, I'm smaller now than before both boys where I was wearing size 14 & 16

I've posted this under health and breast and bottle, but you may also have some advice for me.
My ds has been sick after most feeds for the past 3 weeks, he is 17 weeks old and is exclusively breast fed, sometimes he is sick straight after or during eating which is pale and milky and some times he can be a while after feeding which is usually the 'cottage cheese' type sick. I went to the dr yesterday and told him about the problem I was having. He prescribed infant gaviscon which is fine but a pain to keep making up, he advised 1 sachet after each feed. I feed more than 6 times in 24hrs so I can't give it to him after each feed as he'd be overdoseing on it. Can I make up 6 doses up in the morning and keep them to hand and give one pre made bottle of sachet to him after every other feed or do I have to make them up as I need them?

Any advice or suggestions? TIA

olivhohoho · 19/12/2006 17:33

bursting - i had this with dd. it was a total pain as she wouldnt take the gaviscon. i was told to make it up each time - i ended up taking bottles of cool boiled water out with me etc and adding the sachet when i needed it. dd spat most of it out but some of it stayed down and she did show some improvement - her sickness was just as you decribed. we had a follow up appt with the paed one month later and were told to try without it. that was 2 weeks ago and she is sick quite a bit again. to be honest, i only gave it during the day as she was rarely sick at night and it was too disruptive to give the gaviscon.
HTH

burstingwithfestivitybug · 19/12/2006 18:05

Thanks Olivo, great idea to just add powder to the ready and waiting bottles. I'll give him one bottle when he wakes in the night and the other 5 throughout the day. I still breas t feed on demand so I'll try and spread the bottles out as much as I can.
I had 30 sachets for him but wasn't told to come back when they run out, I'll speak to my hv when I next see her as they won't last a week............ Ah xmas next week - what should I do, go back to dr on Friday and get some more, or do I leave off the medicine to see if he still needs it?

olivhohoho · 19/12/2006 18:44

bursting - we left the pharmacy with 2 carrier bags full lol- still have lots left but looks like we'll have to put her back on it. we had a follow up after a month. i am bf on demand too, didnt give it at every feed, maybe 4 a day or so. think you'll need it for more than a week so i'd go back sooner rather than later if i were you.
good luck.

eenysugarplumfairy · 20/12/2006 09:03

Hi All,

Booby hope you are ok and not stressing anymore. Whats the situation with you SIL?

Olivo glad you had a great time on your English expedition.

I weigh more now than I did before I got pregnant, its awful. I want to do something about it but wont until the new year. Although it will be my new years resolution to lose a stone. But I agree with Pink, dont think of it this side of Christmas!

We are ok, my legs are still really really bad. I am a bit worried tbh as I have had bone surgeries on my legs in the past and am worried I might need more as I can hardly walk atm.

Sorry I am not replying to what everyone has said I am feeling a bit crap atm but will try to catch up soon.

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 20/12/2006 09:12

Ahh hugs to you Eeny. Try and take it easy.
I totally agree with the weight loss thing and xmas. Such a waste of time. At least one of my xmas day traditions is to eat a full selection box for breakfast so dieting would be a big no no Plus I'm thinking of doing Goose which I have been told is very fatty.

I'm really starting to pap myself a bit now about weaning. Dh bought some of the Aptimil 2nd stage formula on monday and I tried it in his night time bottle like the HV suggested and he threw that up too. So thats 2 brands we've now tried. Its quite obvious its to do with consistency. But if he's vomited carrot what on earth are we going to do.
The poor baby will be hungry and they'll be nothing we can do about it!
I'm going to start a thread on it so if anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

jingleboobs · 20/12/2006 11:11

bursting and olivio good luck with the gaviscon

PinkTinsel · 20/12/2006 11:50

feathers, can you not just up his amount of the milk he can tolerate or does he throw it up if he gets too much?

with dd i used baby rice to thicken her purreed fruit and veg to a much thicker consistancy... might be worth a try?

eeny, i'm so sorry you're in so much pain babe have you been to the gp yet?

MrsChristmasboo · 21/12/2006 12:45

Eeny, you poor thing, hope you feel better soon. x

Erm, i have now forgotten what else was written ....

Oh, the weight thing, i have dropped a jean size but am doing nothing about it really til all the parties/chocolates/turkey have passed by.....

Am feeling really rotten here. Ds1 has flu which he has kindly passed to me so i feel crappy....It is hurting to even type but i will soldier on....

Had to go to my godfathers funeral y'day to top off a crap week really. He was only 61 and went tohosp, they said he'd be fine then he died. So its a big shock as it was so unexpected. My dad is in bits as they were really close so its kinda put a cloud over Christmas. And it would've been his birthday y'day.

Can someone please start a new thread?? At least i'd have some hope of keeping up with the news! (Well, probably not as im so useless)

olivhohoho · 21/12/2006 16:48

hello! where is everyone?

sorry to hear about your godfather Boo and hope you are feeling a bit better. and you too, Eeny.

have had a tiring few days, dd has been really hard work, grizzly and sobbing when put down, dont know what is wrong with her, she doesnt seem to be ill, is sleeping well at night but seems unhappy during the day. thank god for her swing - i get a few minutes to do things thanks to that!

YF - went to get some dermalogica eye cream - it was £29 fortunately i had a 40 per cent off for my local salon, it is miraculous though so i treated myself to some courtesy of mr barclaycard!hope everyone else is ok and enjoying the run up to Christmas.

eenysugarplumfairy · 21/12/2006 17:34

Snow sorry about your Godfather, what a rotton thing to happen anytime but especially this time of year. HUGS xxx

If I can think of a title I will start a new thread otherwise I nominate Pink as she thought of a clever title for this one!

Olivo glad you treated yourself you deserve it.

Well Alex is back on solids. We had stopped giving them to him because he seemed uninterested but he has been really really hungry so as of today he is getting them again. I am still hobbling around on my ankle, I HATE being crippled like this it reminds me of when I was younger and I had bone surgery on my leg. I have seen the GP he has just prescribed me Ibuprofen and suggested I may have twisted my ankle because I am overweight. How dare he say that to a woman who has just had a baby and right before xmas!! My new years resolution will be to lose a stone.

eenysugarplumfairy · 21/12/2006 17:35

meant to say booby thanks for calling me the other day it was lovely and cheering to hear from you!

MrsChristmasboo · 21/12/2006 20:50

Eeny im and at your dr! Cheeky sod. Well if you are a bit overweight (methinks most of us are!) just look at your reason. Take no notice love.

Well if it hasn't been bad enough caring for two whinging sick little boys all day by myself, charming dh rushes in from work, cooks dinner then is back out by 6pm! I've never seen a man cook dinner and gt ready in half hour. So if he is any later than 11pm i shant let him in. And the mood im in he can shout and plead and beg but if its gone past agreed time then tough. Why do men act like kids? Wish he'd grow up a bit so i didn't feel like i had three kids to take care of....Moan moan moan, whinge whine etc...

Right, am off for a bath before one of the beastys wake up.... Wish me luck!

PinkTinsel · 22/12/2006 10:41

WHY WON'T HE SLEEP?!!!!! every night it's the same, wakes up crying at 9/10 o clock, will not settle no matter what i do and doesn't go back to sleep til 1am at least. i'm so shattered

sorry your lot are all sick Snow, did dh get locked out?

at you doc eeny, he loves to point out you weight doesn't he? didn't he make a comment like that before? asshole, it not exactly helpful for fixing your ankle to point out your weight is it? and you've just had a baby ffs!

jingleboobs · 22/12/2006 20:31

eeny your doctor is a prick you should report him to the surgery manager!!!!!!!!!!

cj dozes from 8-11 intermitantly then goes about 11-3ish then again til 5ish but she still mostly only feeds one side or shes just sick does everyone else find the same or is it just me!!!!!!!!

pink sorry your tired must be hard with 2

dreamy hows yr uncle you havent mentioned him for ages hope he's ok

slushy bit coming up

i would like to thank all of you for your help encouragement sympathy comfort companionship over the last 12 months i really do think you all helped me majorly in the mental department and im sure its thgid thread which stopped me getting pnd

so once again thank you all new and old

i love being a mummy and its mostly because of you lot

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx booby and cj

PinkTinsel · 22/12/2006 21:58

awwww booby it's your fabulous attitude to being a mom thats stopped the PND. i'm in awe at how quickly you've taken to mommyhood and how cheerful you are about it all. wish we could all be like that!

caleb is sitting on my lap helping me type, he's sharing a room with dd tonight as her room is being used by dp's mate, which means i couldn't even try to settle him, had to dash in and grab him when he started yelling. so much for food helping him sleep, he finally figured out the hand eye co-ordination thing today and had some potato and some of dd's banana to eat..... wolfed them down in fact! still awake at the same damn time though!

eenysugarplumfairy · 23/12/2006 11:41

Booby you are a sweetheart, and I am the same as you I couldnt do without my MN August friends.

Pink I am so sorry you are so tired. Its hell isnt it. I can not live with sleep deprivation.

And yes my Dr has said something to me before about my weight. I am so upset about it. Oh well I will lose it in the new year. You'd think I was huge!

Snow sorry your DH is childish. Did you let him in after all?

ronniemummy · 23/12/2006 13:32

Lots of you are mentioning weaning. I was told by my HV to start weaning her becasue she was on 5 x 8oz bottles a day so she said she needed to have some solids. She started at 15weeks and is now 16weeks. I have only given her baby rice to start off with. How long should I give her this for before trying her with root veg?

I am not totally sure how interested she is with it- she does open her mouth and will have a chomp on the spoon- but a lot of it seems to end up on her bib, her face etc!!!!!!!!!!!

It's all so difficult!

And...she is STILL not sleeping through the night... without fail she will wake up around 3.30am-5am and cry and has to have her dummy put back in. Most nights I have to get up 3-5 times. Surely, when being weaning they start sleeping through- or that is what I am told!

Merry Christmas to everyone- hope you all enjoy chrimbo with your babies- it's so exciting!

PinkTinsel · 23/12/2006 13:54

ronniemummy, i weaned dd at 17/18 weeks to try and get her to sleep through and it just made her worse! it's bs about them sleeping through when they start solids
