Felix and Merry pops...I'm not far from Leeds!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 26/02/2015 21:42

Found you again, I am shit at keeping up these days - every spare second goes on business-setting-up-stuff!

Someone said they have a mix of two/one nap days - we do too. Some days, no morning nap, no matter what I do, some days she goes down for an hour with hardly a protest. The afternoon nap is pretty okay though (in comparison).

Has anyone else got a baby that will NOT eat enough solids? A is massive, so she clearly needs it, but she turns her nose up at most things, except pasta, cheese, porridge, toast and marmite, Turkey, fish fingers, and fruit. Oh, and raisins.
Anything tomato based is rejected, including pasta with tomato sauce, which is weird as pasta is a goto favourite.
It's driving me nuts, as the stupid HV just says 'keep offering' other things, but every time I do, it gets spat out, or chucked on the floor. I swear I've tried some stuff thirty times, to no avail. She eats hardly any veg, even disguised. She'll eat spinach in cream cheese pasta sauce, and peas (maybe). Oh, and broccoli. Sometimes.
Then, because she's eaten so little, she has tons of milk to make up for it. As in 250mls, three times a day. At least.

In more positive news, we now have bouncing on chairs (which she climbs up on to), twirling, building towers out of two blocks, and pointing at stuff in books when asked. No speaking yet though. Probably coz she can't get a word in edgewise...

Oh, and I've somehow left the Fb group, could someone re-add me? Ta. Thanks

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 26/02/2015 21:52

Just read back a bit, and wanted to say MrsG you are not alone in the anxiety stakes, mine is overwhelming these days. It's really tough to deal with. I think about scary things happening far too often. Always happy to chat on PM / Fb if it helps. Thanks

FelixFelix · 26/02/2015 21:57

Littlemiss I have just moved from Leeds to out near Otley. We could be close Shock If you're on FB send me a PM and I can add you to the Jan 2014 group if you want.

Humpty I think I have you on FB, I'll re-add you if so. How is the business thing going? Sorry no advice re the food but I've found S eats loads more if she sits on a mat on the floor rather than her high chair. She will eat and bit then come back to it. If she's in her high chair she freaks out and chucks it all on the floor which is really annoying if ive cooked something nice for her!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 27/02/2015 08:22

Felix thanks for adding me again. Haven't tried picnic on the floor, mainly as I don't want her wandering off smushing food into carpets/sofa! But it's worth a try, thanks for the idea.

littlemissnorthernbird · 27/02/2015 22:34

Thanks everyone! Felix.. I know Otley quite well. I'm going to be quite thick but how do I send you a pm on Facebook..i only know you as felix?!! It funny because i was trying to work out where you lived as you had said it was so steep! I had guessed Saltaire or Ilkley in my mind so not too far out! I'm not near Otley but know it quite well! We love goingoup to the Cow and Calf for lunch or up to the Yorkshire Dales that way. In regards to food, Little Miss N B pretty much eats everything..shes at nursery and everyday it says she has eaten everything. She takes after her mother. I am now very concious if i eat something unhealthy infront if her as she always wants a try too... not good! Anyway, its the weekend finally ladies! Anyone got any nice plans?

AMillionNameChangesLater · 28/02/2015 07:30

Hey all!

Henry can say more, say's ma-ma for grandma, yeah, and no.

He still can't walk, or stand unaided, but crawls like a demon and cruises along furniture

Littlemiss send me a PM on here with your real name and I'll add you on FB then add you to the group. I live in Baildon at the top part where the moor is so kind of half way between Otley and Saltaire. I always assume no one knows where it is so its easier to say the closest well known place Grin

I am away for the night tonight! It's my friends hen party but she's pregnant so we are having a night in with takeaway and mocktails then afternoon tea tomorrow. Got to drive down to Nottingham this afternoon for it but I'd rather just go back to sleep...

Naturegirl82 · 28/02/2015 09:13

Awful awful night here. O went to bed fine at 7 but woke at 9.30 (just as I was getting into bed typical!) and sounded in so much pain. Dh tried to settle her but she was just so unhappy even after calpol. Ended up in bed with me watching in the night garden till 1! Then slept till 5 and then dozed till 6.30. She seems fine today although I feel like a zombie Sad

O is an absolute gannet! She has some days where she doesn't eat so much but mostly she wolf's down everything in sight whether that be hers or someone else's! Shock I agree though she does like a floor picnic. Can't have it much here though because of the dog.

BookTart · 28/02/2015 14:30

humpty P has a restricted diet already and yet still manages to be picky. What she likes keeps chopping and changing too. Peas appear to be on the way out again, and all meat is ignored or lobbed on the floor. I'm vaguely worried about how little she is eating at the moment, but she grazes constantly by robbing the kitchen shelves so I'm sure tht is the problem here! Carpet picnics don't work for us, she just wanders off and never goes back once she's eaten all the fruit.

Minor triumph here - I managed to leave her with DH for two hours to go to the hairdresser for the first time this morning. I know it is ridiculous that it has taken this long, but hurrah anyway. Obviously my hair went badly wrong, and DH seems to have spent 2 hours watching unsuitable cartoons and playing iPad games with her, but it is the principle of the thing isn't it? Wink

TobyLerone · 28/02/2015 22:56

M's been up 3 times already since she went to bed at 7.45pm. I'm not holding out much hope for a good night's sleep!

Re food, we have some days where she eats loads, and some days where she eats hardly anything. I don't really give it too much thought. Sometimes I try to 'persuade' her at dinner by giving her extra cutlery to distract her while I poke bits of food into her mouth. But usually I just leave her to it.

Glad you managed to get your hair done, book :)
I left M with my sister for 3 hours yesterday while I went to my first breastfeeding peer support training session. I fretted the whole time but it turned out my sister put her in the pram, went for a quick walk and M slept for 2 hours. Fluke, sadly. But a relief all the same. Just 5 more sessions to fret through!

Hoping for better nights for all tonight. Sadly I don't think I'll be having one!

TobyLerone · 01/03/2015 08:12

Eleven times. I have nothing more to say.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 01/03/2015 08:51

Ouch Toby! Henry was up 4 times with me, and 3 with dh. And up at 5. I'm wiped. The little git will not nap either which means he'll be in his sling all day at church while I try making him sleep. I'm so tired

TobyLerone · 01/03/2015 09:41

What is wrong with these evil children?

FelixFelix · 02/03/2015 01:49

There must be something in the water! I was away last night for my friends hen do. We had a night in with a takeaway then went for afternoon tea on Sunday as she's pregnant so didn't want a night out etc. I was all geared up for a decent nights sleep but my air bed deflated in the night and I was laid on the hard floor and got about 4 hours broken sleep. Struggled to drive the 2 hours home and kept falling asleep on the settee and in the bath in the afternoon and was tucked up in bed by 9. S has been awake crying since 1 and I've just caved in and brought her downstairs to watch peppa pig for half an hour in the hope she will go back to sleep. Sooooooooo tired Confused

MrsGSR · 02/03/2015 03:14

Found you again! Tried to catch up by L is screeching so I've not taken much in. I'll attempt it again tomorrow!

Thank you Humpty

FelixFelix · 02/03/2015 08:53

S went back to sleep at 3ish. No idea what was up with her!

I've woken up to a covering of snow this morning Confused

TobyLerone · 02/03/2015 09:32

M was up 6 times last night. That's the 5th awful night running. I don't really know what to do about it. She's got a few teeth coming but doesn't seem in pain when she wakes up. She wants a feed and then goes back to sleep for an hour or 2, then same again. I'm knackered.

FelixFelix · 02/03/2015 09:39

Toby that's awful. Especially so many nights in a row. DP said S was the same on Saturday night too. I sometimes wish she was more used to sleeping in our bed just to make things easier on the nights she's being a TB. She's never done it though and thinks it's play time every time I try.

I looked at the wonder weeks app last night and apparently S is the right age for a leap at the moment. I've always thought it was slight bullshit as babies develop at different rates but I suppose it makes sense at the moment as so many of our lot are unsettled.

Swannykazoo · 02/03/2015 11:10

I have a total Klingon baby! Am I right in thinking that's another wonder week thing? I was honestly walking around yesterday dragging LP who was attached to my thigh like a baby manacle

Naturegirl82 · 02/03/2015 12:04

puggle klingon baby is listed as sign of leap
toby extra bf is also listed so that is maybe why she is waking.

We haven't reached that leap yet (6 days till change apparently!!) so I'm attributing O's poor sleep to the molars that are coming through. Dreading this leap now!

TobyLerone · 02/03/2015 12:32

I must dig put my kindle and read about this leap.

FelixFelix · 02/03/2015 12:42

Clingy here too! S has also managed to get hold of the baby monitor and press loads of buttons and I can't get it to work now. I think it's a cunning plan so I can't hear her scheming with the rest of them Grin

MrsGSR · 02/03/2015 18:48

L is clingy, but it might just be because DH is away.

I hope they all sleep better tonight!

We did get down to 3-5 wakings a night but going to visit my cousin over the weekend has set us back a bit. 5 weeks to crack it before we go to Germany. I'm still very anxious at night so DH moved Ls cot into the dining room and I'm sleeping on the sofa in the next room until he gets back. It doesn't seem to have disturbed her routine Smile

BookTart · 02/03/2015 19:37

Massive sympathy to those with non-sleepers. It is so, so hard.

Another super-clingy baby here. At one of the birthday parties on Sunday I went out to the loo while she was happily playing, and came back two minutes later to find her utterly distraught - tears, snot, the works. Another mum had picked her up and was staring at me like I'd nipped out to the pub or something Blush

Naps have gone rubbish again as well, which I find really stressful because I still panic that she'll wake at night if she doesn't nap enough. This leap can naff off.
