Book poor P Sad was she ok for the rest of the night? Also how is your mum? Don't know if I missed a recent post of yours or not. Is she still in hospital?

S isn't well Sad I'm guessing it's side effects of the vaccinations yesterday. She cried from 8-10.30 last night and was really clingy to DP (not me for once, yippee Grin). She went back to sleep at about 11 and only woke up again once though which is great. I thought we were in for a bad night. She's whingey and crying this morning though. I want to go to play group at 9.30 but don't know if I should bother. If not we will be stuck in the house all day as DP took the car to work.

BookTart · 11/02/2015 08:48

Poor S felix. If she wouldn't enjoy it then I'd stay home. We were going to try a new toddler group today, but P isn't eating and is very tired and clingy so I think we'll be having a CBeebies and pj day instead. She did sleep through once she'd had a bath, and slept in until 6:30 (luxury!)

Mum is out of hospital again, thanks for asking. She's too ill to leave her flat though Sad They are planning to do a cardioversion next week. She's very worried as it carries a risk of a stroke. Fingers crossed it makes her less out of breath though.

Swannykazoo · 11/02/2015 09:07

More lurgy here. Temp of 40 at one point overnight and wheezy/snuffly. I've stayed off work with a remarkably bright eyed baby this am(am dead on my feet anyway). Not sure if its the delayed effect of MMR, or some other virus. Also swithering whether there's any point phoning the GP...

FelixFelix · 11/02/2015 09:18

Book I think we will stay in. She's not touched her breakfast this morning and is currently laid on a pillow with her dummy and muslin square watching Bing. I might go and put my pyjamas back on Grin Sorry your Mum still isn't well Sad Does she live close to you or is it another massive trip to visit her?

Puggle sorry you have an unwell baby too! The nurse said to me yesterday that they can get ill 2-3 weeks after the MMR so it could well be that. I wish I'd waited until next week for S to have it as its half term so no groups for me to go to anyway.

TobyLerone · 11/02/2015 09:22

I'm also swithering re GP. M has had a cold for months and she's coughing loads. She's asthmatic and I know that colds can sometimes turn to chest infections. But her cough is mainly at night and mainly dry and not phlegmy. So that's basically just an asthma flare-up. She hasn't coughed much this morning, so I'll see how she is later. It's annoying, though. We're both knackered because her coughing is keeping us both awake. DH manages to sleep through it, of course!

TobyLerone · 11/02/2015 09:41

Hmmm. Google says high temp if she has a chest infection. So just the cold aggravating her asthma then.

Naturegirl82 · 11/02/2015 10:02

Sorry to hear about all the poorly babies. I think the MMR can really knock them sideways for sometime after.

So MIL has agreed to babysit, but now Dh is wondering whether we can have a night away. It is likely to be our only chance before this next one comes along. I've got no issues leaving O overnight but we have never left her with anyone else, and I'm just worried that she won't sleep well and I don't think it's fair on anyone else to have to deal with that. Dh and I were talking about it last night but he still thinks we should go if his mum agrees.

However, O had her worst night in ages last night! She woke up at 2.30 and just didn't want to go back to sleep. I stayed in her room with her for ages, but she just laid on my chest, so I brought her in with us hoping she would sleep but nope. She was nice and chilled just lying there but didn't go back to sleep until just before 6! This is why I am worried about leaving her overnight!! She mostly does sleep through but she has these odd nights where she just doesn't!

Swannykazoo · 11/02/2015 10:21

I've cracked and phoned the gp (mainly due to the wheezing). Waiting for a call back from them. I suspect they'll think I'm neurotic medical mother

Naturegirl82 · 11/02/2015 11:55

puggle better safe than sorry. Hope the GP can help

Naturegirl82 · 11/02/2015 13:48

Gah, so MIL has agreed to have O overnight, and then I remembered about ddog! Thought we had it all planned! You can tell we don't have many nights away!!

BookTart · 11/02/2015 14:25

Sorry to hear about all the ill babies. What did the GP say Puggle? P still isn't eating and is very tired. It isn't stopping her from sneaking into the kitchen to steal all the utensils though. I just caught her wandering about with a fish slice and a slotted spoon Smile

felix mum lives in south London, about 60 miles from me. It takes about an hour to get there on a good day, and I try to time it to coincide with P's morning nap to avoid screaming in the car. We're due to go up tomorrow, but only if P isn't sick again. I can't risk her making Mum ill. If we don't go my Mum will be gutted though, she and P are devoted to one another, it is very cute.

BookTart · 11/02/2015 14:26

nature could MIL not stay in your house and have O and your dog overnight?

Naturegirl82 · 11/02/2015 14:35

Unfortunately MIL is not a dog person book. She will tolerate her, but as ddog is very much a lapdog and likes to snuggle I don't think MIL will be too happy! My friend from work has offered to have her if we can't find anyone else so will see what Dh says. She usually goes to a friend of ours that he works with so he might ask her today.

Book what is it about babies and kitchen utensils?? O loves to walk around with the colander at inlaws! So bizarre. She can't reach our utensils mean mummy!

Hope P feels better so you can get to see your Mum.

TobyLerone · 11/02/2015 14:59

Send the dog to me, nature!

Naturegirl82 · 11/02/2015 15:12

She would love a cuddle Toby. Bit far for her to travel for one night though!

TobyLerone · 11/02/2015 16:34

Booooo :(

MrsGSR · 11/02/2015 17:34

:( about all the ill babies, I hope they all get better soon, and your mum's cardioversion goes well Book

L was supposed to have her MMR today but she is still a bit ill and miserable so I've moved it to next week. She refused to nap this morning, and was a complete misery.

Walking round with utensils is cute! L is wandering round with the paper bin from the dining room. It's cute, but any rubbish we throw away is taken straight out and put on the floor...

Swannykazoo · 11/02/2015 17:39

GP v unhelpful. Well it might be MMR. It might be a virus. Or something else. Small children sometimes wheeze with a temp Hmm I thought. Please let him be better tonight so I can go to work.
I too would take a small dog to snuggle!

Sunshineseeker80 · 12/02/2015 02:43

Sorry to hear about poorly babies. E was pretty miserable after the MMR and then about a week after got a rash on her tummy for a few days - can't remember who mentioned it on here but am glad they did because I was a little worried until I remembered Blush

We are trying to train E to walk by walking holding her hands, building up momentum then letting go. She managed a whole two steps yesterday before falling flat on her face. The rest of the time she just fell forward on her face laughing. She can scale the entire length of the room, but refuses to try walking without holding on to anything. I think she might be a crab.

Glad to see some interest in virtual sewing Smile I was thinking of setting up a separate Facebook group for it?? Open to anyone but stops others being bored by stitching and associated bitching. Though we would need a name...starter(s) for ten

  • Sew freaking cool (which clearly isn't);
  • Make it sew (for the geeks amongst us)...
surely someone else can do better?!?!? Then I was thinking a monthly theme for the challenge (the challenge being to get up off the sofa and sew something and finish it). Was thinking of keeping it v broad so people can do what interests them. So for the first challenge we could do play - could make toys, play clothes, play mat etc. Other examples I thought of could be gifts, or summer ??

What do you think? Am I over thinking this??

Swannykazoo · 12/02/2015 08:47

I like the idea of a virtual "craft" group, but I don't think I'd manage something monthyl and I can't be fagged working out Pinterest! (sorry to be negative) I'm loving crochet again though, doing a few squares for the woolly hug for beccajoh really reminded me of how much I love having a wee project on hand. I've decided to do a really easy blanket (single crochet with a scalloped edge) for a friend's baby due in July so hopefully that's achievable. Seem to have a tendency to loose a stitch every row, not quite sure what I'm doing wrong as I'm a bit home-schooled in crochet

Before the great lurgy hit I also got into the shed and pumped up the tyres on my bikes. I really want to get back out there, used to love cycling but couldn't have my bike when I lived with DH (no space) and then my bikes were in store until I was 8 months preggers. I've also bought a baby seat for the front but have a horrible feeling my handlebar stem is too large for the attachment......I think my aim might be to cycle to work once a week
I'm also determined to claw back some of the things I enjoy doing - or did do pre baby.

TobyLerone · 12/02/2015 09:28

Any chance it could be a general craft group, rather than just sewing? Or is that jumping too much on your bandwagon? I don't have the space or time to get my sewing machine out, but I do knit.

Naturegirl82 · 12/02/2015 09:45

Another vote for a general craft group

Puggle are you adding the appropriate number of chain stitches at each turn in the row? How many you add depends on the stich you are using e.g. single, double etc. Maybe why you are losing a stitch as each time you turn as you would be starting on stitch 2 rather than stitch 1. Just a thought. I too am a home schooled and taught crochet. I still need to finish my woolly hug square. It's basically done but I had to amend the pattern (6" pattern came out at 4" as I was using a different sized hook) so I just need to finish the edging.

We have a dog sitter Grin. So Dh has booked hotel, spa treatments and restaurant whoop! And Olivia slept through 7-6.30 last night so hoping she does that for the MIL as well yay.

Sunshineseeker80 · 12/02/2015 10:04

Absolutely could be a general craft, more the merrier Grin
Though I am short of general craft puns...

TobyLerone · 12/02/2015 10:16

I would have voted for Make It Sew, FWIW :o

Swannykazoo · 12/02/2015 10:49

Aha! Cheers nature I think I might be doing the turning chain then starting on the bottom of it ie where it joins the main bit of crochet - fool that I am. I had rather wondered about turning chains and why they were different.
A great triumph for the virtual group!
Dirty sew and sews? Stitch and bitch?
