Sounds nice Toby. I am rubbish at low carb! We ended up going to the Mamas and Papas outlet in Huddersfield and bought a Donna Wilson print Urbo Bug pushchair. It's lovely! It folds really small so will be handy for when we go up to Scotland then the Lake District because we have the worlds smallest car. Im kind of excited about it Blush

TobyLerone · 25/05/2015 21:23

I'm not finding low carbing anywhere near as hard as I thought it would be. And this from the person who would eat her own baby if it were made of bread.

FelixFelix · 25/05/2015 21:29

Grin I struggled with it because I don't particularly like meat or eggs that much, so wasn't left with anything to eat apart from veg. I have mostly given up bread though which isn't as hard as I expected!

TobyLerone · 25/05/2015 22:36

Ah. Yes, not earing meat or eggs would make it hard. You could do it just on fish (if you eat that), veg and dairy, but it would be hard. It's also quite expensive. More so if you're only eating fish as the protein part of your food.

TobyLerone · 25/05/2015 22:36

*eating

Morning everyone!

Glad to hear about walking babies and fun being had with sand and water. I hated sand when I was younger but I have chilled out a bit now. Going to try the MN talcum powder trick next time I go to the beach though.

We went to the club on Saturday but poor N had to sit and watch because I forgot my swimming costume. Sad. DD had a great time though and we made it up to N by giving him a good run round the playground afterwards.

I have been on less because I realised that moping around the house wasn't going to make anything better. Had a trip to the market and stocked up on vegetables and fruit so have been busy making food since. The plan was to eat healthily but so far I have made spinach and potato latkes, two kinds of water ice, and hummus Confused. There's always tomorrow though, right? Today I need to make carrot cake.

Oh, and DD is insisting we make tarte aux pommes today. She says she knows exactly how to make it because she did it at school in her cooking class but apparently they have not made it. She also calls it her pie apple, which was confusing at first

It is too too hot here now. Tomorrow it is supposed to reach the mid forties, "only" forty today. I am feeling a bit smug because N has not inherited my ridiculous skin and can stay out in the late afternoon sun without turning into a crisp. DD has not been so lucky though. She is the only kid in her class with a hat and sunscreen reapplied twice every morning.

Angelesque · 27/05/2015 23:43

Any caesarean mums a) weeping over their "pouch" nearly a year and a half after the event and b) have no idea how to get rid of it?

...just me then

alteredimages · 28/05/2015 06:49

That sucks angel. If it makes you feel any better my stomach muscles will never be what they were and my bladder control is not what it used to be despite a lot of pelvic floor exercises.

My belly was so big a couple of weeks ago it was folding itself over like a pouch. Blush

Hi all - back from Majorca and World's Stubbornest Toddler has decided he will only dress as he did on holiday (even though its 10 degrees and blowing a hoolie in the highlands)
Has been forced into a Little bird towelling romper (Felix had alerted me to their stuff and their boy's stuff is amazing too)
Major trouble with DH on holiday - didn't get up at all in the mornings with us and did precisely 2 nappy changes and no pyjamas at all despite specific requests pre holiday. Basically I felt like a single parent with a sulky toddler that stayed at home when we went to the shops or the beach.
Going to try and write it down and try to have a constructive "this needs to change" chat this weekend. Very worried that this might be it though.

TobyLerone · 28/05/2015 10:25

Oh, puggle. What a fucking useless manchild. I'm sorry he did his best to ruin your holiday. Lazy shit Angry

Swannykazoo · 28/05/2015 10:51

Fucking awful it was. Apparently you need breasts to put toddlers in pyjamas! Same mistake my mother made too - maybe we're massive enablers. When I called him on the pjs I got told "well maybe if you were a bit tidier" Angry and it all went downhill pretty fast

On the plus side "World's Stubbornest and Coldest Toddler" has falllen asleep on my lap beside laptop sp I've been forced to write it all down which feels much better

TobyLerone · 28/05/2015 11:23

It's not your fault he's a dick.

FelixFelix · 28/05/2015 14:58

Definitely not your fault puggle. What an arsehole. How dare he ruin your holiday too Sad I hope you are ok.

Sorry Angel no c-section here but I just have a mahoosive stomach regardless. Hopefully someone else can advise!

Altered that is HOT. Do you just get used to it eventually or not? I can't even cope when it's 15 degrees here.

I've had a lovely day today. Got use of the car for once so went to my local fabric shop, then went for a coffee and cake with S and a wander round the shops. It's nice to be able to drive somewhere for once. Currently waiting in for a man to come round to look at my oven (not a euphemism Grin)

alteredimages · 28/05/2015 20:20

Puggle that sounds really really awful. Glad H had a good time though. I am v impressed that he is already making fashion choices. Smile

I have a manchild of a DH too and it is soul destroying. At the risk of being a total hypocrite I would encourage you to take action. My hands are tied because leaving would involve international child abduction and (I suspect) some screwed up kids as a result but if I were in the UK I would be handling things very differently.

I don't get used to the heat sadly Felix. I just resemble a tomato for much of the year. Confused. Glad you had a good day. DH and I went out for coffee and cake too today. It was nice to walk somewhere without feeling like a pack donkey!

alteredimages · 29/05/2015 21:32

Either you all have much more interesting lives than me, or I have developed a real knack for killing the thread. Smile

How are you today puggle? Hope you have a good weekend lined up.

We went to IKEA today and DH let me get everything I wanted without comment. Kids though, can be total twats. I got the house shape sorter for N because there are lots of toys he has missed out on with our chaotic existence. He opened it and looked pretty pleased until he had to get the shapes inside. He looked nonplussed for a bit then realised how easily the lid lifts off. He stuck the shapes in and put the lid back on. Job done and £7 wasted that could have been spent on biscuits. He has now decided to give it another go so is wandering around the flat throwing things and bellowing with rage every time he can't get the shape through the holes. he is also eating the face off his new toy mouse. I have the world's thickest toddler, don't I?

DD has meanwhile decided that the carrot she was inseparable from and cried at the checkout for is too scary and can't stay in her room.

House is a tip and relatives coming over tomorrow (school night) at bed time. Yay!

TobyLerone · 29/05/2015 21:39

Ha! We have that shape sorter too, and M does the same -- just takes the roof off and puts the shapes in and out.

alteredimages · 29/05/2015 21:45

Yep. Wish I had realised how pointless it was before I bought it!

alteredimages · 29/05/2015 21:46

But DD has already coloured it in. She is a bit upset because 'it is too small for living in'.

FelixFelix · 29/05/2015 22:10

Grin at the shape sorter! No fooling these kids is there? Is the mouse from IKEA? If it's the one wearing a hat and a tie then we have it too. Sylvie finds it very funny.

I'm at my parents for the weekend again as I'm going to my friends baby shower on Sunday. S has a stinking cold and is teething so is still being awful. I should have left her at home with DP!

alteredimages · 29/05/2015 23:47

It is Felix but it doesn't have a hat. I think it is probably a rat but DH is freaked out enough by the fact it is a mouse. Don't think he could stand the idea of N and DD snuggling into soft toy rats as they sleep. Not a big success in the Egyptian market: down from 40 Egyptian pounds to 15 now and the display baskets are all full. PIL won't touch them. Grin

Hope S perks up soon. That sounds miserable for both of you. Enjoy the baby shower though!

FelixFelix · 30/05/2015 08:11

I'm now questioning if it actually does have a hat or not. I may have imagined it Grin

She didn't sleep well last night but seems happy enough this morning. I will be drinking ALL the coffee today.

Naturegirl82 · 30/05/2015 08:20

Another non - sleeper here last night. Dh stayed up with her though whilst I attempted to get some sleep. Apparently she slept from 1-4 and that was it. Been up with her since 5.30 and she's still going strong. Wish I had that stamina!

puggle hope you manage to have a good talk with your Dh.

FelixFelix · 30/05/2015 08:23

Nature that does not sound like fun! Sometimes it amazes me how they just don't sleep. S only had a 20 minute nap yesterday then was up wide awake until 10pm. They are like little Duracell bunnies sometimes.

Naturegirl82 · 30/05/2015 08:24

altered I can assure you my life is not that interesting right now! Just struggling with work, O, sorting the house out and not sleeping (I can no lie down because of back and rib pain so have to attempt to sleep sitting up Sad ). Just absolutely knackered!

Naturegirl82 · 30/05/2015 08:25

I honestly don't know how they do it Felix No doubt she will have a lovely long sleep today whilst I have to pack the kitchen up!
