I weirdly feel ok thanks errrr probably all the caffine I reckon it'll hit me like a truck later so I'll try and nap when he does after lunch. Luckily ds1 ive just dropped to nursery so a quiet day for me and ds2....

sazzlehopes · 10/02/2015 08:55

sherbert sorry your LO is having a rough time and you have to deal with doubting doctors on top of that...

goats I'm going to try really hard and say how pleased I am for you and that I'm not at all Envy Grin
N really needs to learn how to sleep longer and the art of the self soothe...he has a way to go on both fronts at the minute....

tattyblue · 10/02/2015 09:36

We had an epicly horrible night. She went down at 7.30, woke after an hour, and then wouldn't settle till nearly 1, crying if she didn't have a boob in her mouth, screaming if I put her down. She then did the same from 4.30- 5.30 acc was up for good at 7 30. Any chance this horror could be related to cold recovery or am I just clutching at straws?

MundayCakes85 · 10/02/2015 10:01

After a shit night we had an ok night, although my Boulder boobs kept me awake!!
Sazzle I don't know how you're coping. Have you had your 4 month HV apt yet? I would seriously say something and see what they suggest. Any chance N might have an earache or something that keeps waking him up? Make sure you have lots of Brew and Cake (DF) today!

sazzlehopes · 10/02/2015 10:39

It's werid he's an angel in the day, naps at 'proper' times and not always on me. Just at night he is rubbish... I'm really pushing the dummy today in the hope it'll start to work at night and also a comforter toy thing. It's odd I've just now put him in the pram (because I have to go out in a minute) 'awake but drowsy' which is the phrase I hate! But he is sucking on his dummy and holding onto his toy quite happily drifting off and I'm not even rocking the damn thing like a maniac?!! Why won't he do this at night? He wasn't even happy sleeping on me last night, just really cranky. I can't believe it's anything else as he's such a peach In the day?!! But thanks munday for asking. I didn't know we had a 4 month HV thing so I'll check and say to them.
tatty sorry yours was a shocker too.

Twistedheartache · 10/02/2015 11:40

Pretty normal night here - one wake up for about 40 mins. Really feel for those with sleep resistors - thought sleep deprivation was going to kill me with dd1.
I think self settling is really linked to temperament - apart from CC/CIO we tried everything with dd1 & she was about 3 before she didn't need a hand hold whereas dd2 chats away to herself & falls asleep at night time & has done from v early on.

Daytime sleep is the issue here. She's terrible unless she's out in the pram, only catnaps unless she's on me. Considering naptime boot camp but might just roll with it & enjoy the cuddles.

MundayCakes85 · 10/02/2015 12:13

Sazzle I had a letter about our 4 month apt so it might be worth phoning the HVs. I hope Ned realises that night time is for sleep soon!!
Trying naps in her big cot today. Went up at 9.30. Had to leave her for a 5 mins at 11 as I couldn't take her arms repeatedly waking her up. She finally gave in at 11.30 and so far is still going. Went in 5 mins ago and stroked her face in an attempt at "wake to sleep" so finger's crossed!

MundayCakes85 · 10/02/2015 16:47

Did I break the thread or is everyone too busy having lives whilst their little darlings nap peacefully?
I've just had a while boobs worth of sick down my top- lovely!!

STIGZ · 10/02/2015 17:02

I just had a Lovely nap with my dd2 as dd1 is away to her grans, but dd2 has got a cold, probably explains why she has been a bit grumpySad

munday i know what you mean about this thread! It was so busy the other day lol Smile i expect it will probably get much quieter as the little ones demand more & more attention, my wee one is starting to burst into tears every time i leave room, she is certainly enjoying constant attention just now, thats where my dd1 comes in useful Wink

tattyblue · 10/02/2015 17:17

I'm busy feeling sorry for myself- a stinking cold and a baby who won't sleep. Excellent.

FlipFantasia · 10/02/2015 17:36

Munday sick down the top - my least favourite thing! It's only happened a couple of times (when she was in the sling) but I was so traumatised (both times on days out when i had to then spend hours in pukey clothes!) that I always have a muslin across my top when I'm slinging her. And I even brought a spare top for myself when I took her into NYC last week to see the Matisse show at MoMA. My older two never really spit up but dd2 is definitely a happy chucker!

I'm busy sorting out clothes. I had bags and bags in the attic from the older two but am done with babies now. So am sorting out which of DS's stuff to bin or donate and which is DD1's stuff will work DD2. I want to repaint my office, but it is currently a dumping ground of clothes and baby stuff and random files so it needs sorting!

DD2 is 4 months today! This time 4 months ago labour was just starting. I had had a lovely morning with the older two, snuggled up watching cartoons and reading books. It was the perfect last morning before the baby arrived...

STIGZ · 10/02/2015 18:39

Not seen yellow post for a while? Probably on Facebook now? But hope everything is ok with her & her family ?

Oh my god such a screaming Baby here! N is normally so chilled and smiley but he's screamed all evening. I assume it's because he's over tired from the crazy night last night as he didn't nap for long in the day. I'm feeding him now hoping he goes down ok so I can put ds1 to bed next...my nights couldn't really get worse but a massively overtired baby cannot be a good thing!

MundayCakes85 · 10/02/2015 18:50

Over tired baby here too Sazzle, hope Ned goes down quickly for you. My ears are still ringing from bath time!
Flip E likes to move herself away from the giant muslin sheet cloth and aims for anywhere else. I think the smell of baby sick is quite fetching Hmm
Good luck tonight everyone.

MundayCakes85 · 10/02/2015 18:50

Oh and Tatty hope you start feeling better soon. Sleep deprivation and a cold sucks Sad

Errrr2012 · 10/02/2015 20:52

We've had a busy if uneventful day. DS at childminder this morning so I got on with housework and entertaining little miss DD. Went straight to playgroup after picking up DS which tired him out. Then zoned him out infront of the tv for an hour when we got home. And before you know it it's time for DS teatime/bedtime. DD only just asleep now though, which is surprising cause she's only napped for 30mins here n there today! Still happy though!! Don't know how she does it. Anyway, feeding to sleep at the moment. And I'll be in bed as soon as she is. Hoping (totally in vain) for a good night sleep!

FATEdestiny · 10/02/2015 21:54

Hi all

Sorry about all the crappy sleep around. I have one of the older babies here and I the light at the end of the tunnel is nigh. The 4 month sleep regression (which I have never been aware of until I found MN) seems to be an actual thing but has fortunately not lasted very long for us.

After getting to 8pm-8am, we had 2wks worth of adding an extra 8pm-11pm-8am feed. Then 5 nights of adding another feed 8pm-11pm-5am-8am. However it's only been 5 nights and since then I've gone back to just 8pm-11pm-8am. I'll give it a couple of weeks and try re-dropping the 11pm feed.

What's interesting though is that I expected DDs volume of milk intake to increase permanently through this growth spurt. How much milk she had went up massively (40%) over the last 2 weeks. But as she is coming out the other side of this growth spurt her milk intake has gone back down to what it was before the growth spurt started.

So the increase in calorific need appeared to be temporary. I had expected it would be a permanent increase Confused

Twistedheartache · 10/02/2015 22:31

Evening all

Busy day here - poor baby just got dragged all over the place.
Not confident of a good night as she was grumpy early evening, had a much longer nap than usual & only drank 3oz of bedtime bottle & I think must be teething coz she's had 2 or 3 screaming fits today & never stops chewing her hands.

Anyone formula feeding. How many oz per feed? Posted in infant feeding but no replies. I'm mix feeding & think I must need to increase but she's having 6oz, 8 at bedtime and box has 6 til 6 months?

Good luck tonight

MundayCakes85 · 11/02/2015 03:31

Twisted the Aptimal box I have says 6oz at 3-4 months and 7oz at 4-5 months so don't suppose an extra oz would do any harm, and if she wants it then great. We've given E the odd bottle of formula at bedtime and she guzzles 6oz so next time I'll up it.
She's been grizzly all night- no wonder she just did a BIG PPP. I wouldn't be able to sleep needing that Shock

MundayCakes85 · 11/02/2015 03:32

Sorry autocorrect doesn't like poo apparently!!

STIGZ · 11/02/2015 04:55

Seen every hour tonight, she is so blocked upSad

Errrr2012 · 11/02/2015 04:59

twisted we give dd one bottle of formula most days. Always put 150ml in it although she usually only takes 90-100ml of it. Not sure what that is in oz. Anyway, I don't think it matters, feed your baby what they want. The packet is just a guide.

DutchMummy88 · 11/02/2015 07:40

Twisted I'm ff and we give my DS (4months) 5 bottles of 7oz a day. + a 30z night feed if he wakes up for it.

DutchMummy88 · 11/02/2015 07:41

oh dear not 30 oz but 3 oz!

STIGZ · 11/02/2015 08:04

OMG, its fun & games having two unwell children to deal with on no sleep Shock
