Oh my goodness sazzle I'm shocked for you!! A crawler this early?!! DS didn't crawl till 10.5months. This one isn't showing any signs yet, doesn't really roll yet so hope we're safe for a while yet. You have my sympathy!

MundayCakes85 · 15/03/2015 20:30

So glad your day improved Sazzle, bet you're looking forward to your spa day Grin Really surprised Ned is on the move, what a clever boy.
We had a lovely afternoon out with my parents, then a bit of a teething grump before bed. Now chilling with a cheeky cider, mmm.

Buttwing · 15/03/2015 22:38

Wow sazzle clever Ned that's one early mover!! Grin I'm glad your day got better.

My day on the other hand did not get better! Babywing is now being sick too and still pooing everywhere and I don't think his ab's are staying in his system long enough to clear his chest infection, toddlerwing still pooing, hormonalwing (dd 9) now has the puking and hates being sick so is almost having full on panic attacks each time she's sick, dp has been in bed all day or being sick, dd2 stopped being sick but now very grumpy and moaning that we can't go out anywhere!

All in all not my best Mother's Day dp got up for and an hour and a half announced it was probably best I did the 11 o'clock feed so he didn't make babywing ill and he was going back to bed. Thanks for that love! I'm sleeping with babywing in his room so dp doesn't infect either of us but I've cleaned up so much poo and sick today it will be a miracle if I don't get it.

Sorry for the moan I shan't mention it again!! Just feel so sorry for all my little ones :( not dp though

RudyTuesday · 16/03/2015 05:02

Wow to crawling! DS still isn't rolling. He raises legs up then drops to side at a right angle but can't get any further cos his legs block him. Seems happy enough though!

I cried at my mother's day present! I'd built up the first one in my head so an unwrapped Now compilation CD and a card hastily written in front of me was ridiculously disappointing. We spent all day waiting for DP ex wife to confirm location of her mother's day lunch so we could drop DSD. I didn't have time for lunch before shooting off to see my mum. Crap.

MundayCakes85 · 16/03/2015 05:21

Oh Buttwing it sounds like you're having a really tough time of it. Maybe ring GP in morning if you don't think the abs are doing their job?
Rudy doesn't sound like the best Mother's Day, hope you are having a reasonable night though.
I'm currently crouching in the dark next to the cot so DD can't make eye contact. Hmm

ohthegoats · 16/03/2015 07:54

Pip also 'crawling' - I sat her down to play in the living room to play, turned to wash up, turned back and she was 6 feet away dragging herself towardsa bbottle of water that was catching the light. Erk.

Met a baby at swimming last week who was 8 months and walking! Apparently had barely learned to roll over, she just pushed herself up to standing and toddled off. Terrifying.

Buttwing · 16/03/2015 09:05

Wow walking at 8 months!! I met a little french girl who was 9 months and walking on holiday a couple of years ago she looked so cute but it did look abit strange this tiny little thing toddling around!

I keep catching the kids "helping" babywing to roll over saying come on you can do it. Hmm I think I'd like to keep him still for as long as poss Grin

sazzlehopes · 16/03/2015 09:42

Thanks all...I really didn't want an early crawler. I know how much work it is when they are on the move! I think it might have been even later with ds1, he might have been 10 months before crawling, but it was perfect because he learnt to sit up first and play with his toys in front of him and sat in highchairs in cafes easily and contentedly because he had no desire to get out and move.... My cafe days are numbered!!! I was hoping because he was such a heavy beast it would slow him down...nope.
I think it's because he loves being on his tummy, due to the reflux, and sleeping on his tummy he got to practise more...ds1 hated tummy me so I didn't get him on his tummy that often.
Wow goats sounds like Pip is also determined to get going...walking at 8 months would completely throw me!!!

The only thing that makes me happy is the fact we are still under hospital care because of N's start in life, the whole potential brain damage thing for me now feels very much nothing to worry about. He's developing normally - in fact too fast really! So that is a huge relief!

butt so sorry your house is full of sick, sounds like a nightmare day you poor thing. Hope this week improves for you. Brew and Cake deserved i think.

YellowWellies · 16/03/2015 09:53

My son's best pal walked at 9 months. Terrifying! She walked into so much stuff and tottered down so many steps - she had constant eggs on her head because she moved before she could understand "No!" "Stop!" "Careful!". Lil's doing that head down ploughing across the floor thing but its not really crawling or commando crawling just yet as her arms aren't moving!

Kirstipops · 16/03/2015 10:10

Eeeek to the early crawling/walking! H is in her cot bed now and during a nap on Saturday she had rolled onto her front and was trying to lift up her bumShock , not sure if that means she will be on the move in the coming months. My mum said she had to chase me about I could crawl so fast, yikes.

Buttwing I hope your household is on the mend!

Kirstipops · 16/03/2015 10:12

(I say "during" a nap, I mean this was after she'd woken up)

ohthegoats · 16/03/2015 11:26

Yeah the little thing wandering around the swimming changing room looked odd - like that dancing baby from ali mcbeal shows age

Pip being able to sit up has been ace - made my life so much easier. No more being put down, rolling over onto tummy then immediately screaming with frustration. It's so nice just leaving her sitting there playing - and her being ua high chair means we can eat out again. Early days it was easy with her in a sling, then she got too big to easily be in a sling on my lap while I ate. One handed eating while holding a wriggler got old really fast. Now she can sit there at our level which she definitely loves.

STIGZ · 16/03/2015 11:29

OMG sazzle Shock. I know what you mean about wanting them to stay stationery as long as possible , im dreading when she is on the move as dd1 has so many tiny bits of toys lying around, not good for my choking fearSad but go ned, that frightful start to his life certainly doesn't look like it will be causing any problems Grin

goats ha ha I remember that baby too!!

Thanks for the well wishes dd2 and dp are clear now. Dd1 is off school but could probably be in as she's playing on the sims quite happily until I ask her if she feels oh then the ill voice is back Hmm
Both boys back at the docs tom as chest infections sound like they're are still there and both still got really bad runs and babywing is bringing up about three out of five feeds.
House is like a bombs gone off piles of sticky/pooey washing everywhere and sick all over the carpets upstairs (being cleaned properly on wed) and dp announces this morning he's arranged a meeting with a client at the house tommorow night! I didn't actually know I could roar like a lion! Meeting is no longer happening.

FATEdestiny · 16/03/2015 13:21

DD1 took her first steps at 7 months and was competently waking outdoors and everywhere by 8 months. She skipped rolling and crawling completely.

She learnt to sit unaided at 6 months, having never rolled. Then within 2 weeks if she was sat by the side of a surface (like the sofa) she could pull herself to standing. Cruised for a week (literally just a few days) likewise stood unaided for a couple of days. Then aged 7 months and 2 days took 2 steps from Sofa to her Nana. Walking fully within a week.

I guess that by 7 months she was of an age when most babies want to move. Most roll around, 'caterpillar', commando or crawl to get from one place to another. DD1 never learnt any of these things. So her moving was learnt on her feet.

She was under paediatric referral by aged 2 for bow legs - direct consequence of walking before her bones were developed enough to take her weight. So it's not all good Hmm

My other two children, however, walked at a more normal 11 months old. They didn't by-pass crawling like their big sister.

YellowWellies · 16/03/2015 14:45

If I could pick I'd go for an early talker but a late walker - if only you got the choice. Jonas was an early talker and it was great him being able to ask for stuff rather than cry. I love the sitting playing happily phase and won't be wishing that away for crawling / walking this time round.

splendide · 16/03/2015 15:00

Hello all. I had a lovely day yesterday mostly. Got really nice presents for Mother's Day - loads more than I was expecting.

splendide · 16/03/2015 15:01

Sorry that wasn't meant to be finished!

A not rolling yet but I think he's one of the youngest ones on the thread.

ohthegoats · 16/03/2015 15:27

My nephew bypassed crawling too - just did a lot of downward dog while screaming for 3 months, then one day at 10 months stood up and walked off. He doesn't communicate very well now at almost 2. I agree with yellow I think, would prefer that she just sits and plays happily for a few months.

I just went and looked around a nursery. Urgh.

Buttwing · 16/03/2015 15:51

splendide Babywing not rolling either and he was born on the 13th.

Mine have all been pretty average walked between 11-13 months and I can't really remember with speech. Dd1 was chatty quite early and still is now. My absolute favourite time is when they can sit but not move Grin unfortunately IME it doesn't last very long. Although saying that I was relieved when dd2 started to move because she used to get so cross and grumpy when she couldn't move to where she wanted to be.

FATEdestiny · 16/03/2015 17:20

I find defining when a toddler is talking to be a really difficult thing. It's so gradual.

First word might be early, but then you get a collection of single words later. Or singular words early but sentences later. Or good non-verbal communication but fewer words. Or language developed but speech such that only parents can understand. Or lots of talking verses wide vocabulary.

There are so many variables with speech. I don't believe I could define any child as an "early talker" because of this.

Buttwing · 16/03/2015 17:26

I agree fate Toddlerwing has a few words but I wouldn't say he can talk or communicate what he needs. The words are totally random his favourite is Archie at the moment. We don't know anyone called Archie and I think
he must have got it from watching balamory bad mummy he keeps screeching it at the top of his voice.

Buttwing · 16/03/2015 17:34

Sorry I realised I totally contradicted what I said in my previous post! Dd1 communicated her needs clearly and have a fluent conversation earlier than most other children.
It amazes me how different they all are dd2 is four and still struggles with speech.
It's difficult not to, but I try not to compare and remind myself they will all get there when they're ready! :)

YellowWellies · 16/03/2015 17:47

I'd count 2 or 3 word sentences at one as an early talker which is what my pal's DD did. It made everyone go Shock . There's lots of definitions but despite this ambiguity it was impossible not to have noticed she was an early talker for example. She also walked at 9 months. Busy girl! DS maybe had 30 words and was just starting to string them together at one and wasn't walking - so was a right dumpling by comparison. But for a boy that's pretty good. Even if at that age he thought our (bouncy) dog's name was "DOWN!" Grin

MundayCakes85 · 16/03/2015 18:07

Evening all, much better day here after a longer sleep last night. Just about getting ready for bath and bed.
I just wanted to know what people's plan were for the clocks going forward? I was thinking I might try to bring bed time 10-15 mins early each week. No idea if this will work though Hmm
