Hmm, I know extra bonus wifey points for me, I think! I have a couple of different long girly weekends booked for later in the year, so not all bad

Twistedheartache · 02/03/2015 22:23

It must be fully moon or something. We had an awful day with nap refusal on & off all day too.
Maybe it's my age but I agree with the mothers - buggy is amazing for sleeping, even in the house. In fact DD1 slept better in pram than crib when we lived in flat & could wheel her down the corridor. Only had an issue once on the bus (zone 6) & main bus route where every bus stops near us.
Good luck tonight everyone - don't think it's going to be a good one here:-(

splendide · 03/03/2015 02:11

Bad here already! He normally feeds at 4 or so, tonight he woke really upset at 2 so feeding him now but don't think I've got enough for him. Growth spurt maybe?

RudyTuesday · 03/03/2015 04:47

Gak. Been up since 3.15. Have done 2 nappy changes and can now hear poo number 3 in progress. To make matters worse I am suddenly very hungry. Boo hoo.

BettyJudy · 03/03/2015 07:55

Bad night also. Longest stretch was about 1.5 hours I think. Zzzzzz

Poor little snotty thing did her best to sleep though. The snot sucker got plenty of use last night!

Looked like she was properly awake and ready to play, so we upped and breakfasted at 7 and now she is snoring on my chest, poor tired little sausage

ohthegoats · 03/03/2015 08:49

Bad night here too - longest stretch an hour and a half (at the most), I think somewhere between 3 and 5am. I had a weird dream about Kanye West being my interior designer, so I'm guessing I was asleep - can't imagine that thought being one I'd come up with consciously!

Sleepywaterbaby · 03/03/2015 09:17

Gahhhh

Bad night too... come on baby, you know you want to sleep. It makes the day so much better for both of us.

Having the debate about moving her next door. Not literally. Not sure they'll take her.

Went to bed at 8.30pm thinking I'd get some shut eye. Did I sleep? Nope. Went to see DP in the spare bed at 1am in tears.

Surely it gets better some time soon?

Off for coffee at bumps and babies.

tattyblue · 03/03/2015 11:06

DP and I have started having this weird conversation at 4am where we fantasize about how nice it would be if we could put the baby in stasis for twelve hours. What would we do? Sex, steak, sleep, but the first two have to be quick.

The thing is, while I'm sure many babies do sleep in prams, mine very much doesn't, so that's all there is to it really. I'm looking forward to when we can just have a nice nippy maclaren job though so I can feel less annoyed by it.

Ummmmmm. For those with older babies, what time are their meals, usually? We're not at weaning yet, but because DP works from home we have lunch together every day only it's usually not till about 1.30 and I wonder if we should start getting into the habit of eating slightly earlier. We were taking about it at lunch yesterday (carrot and split pea soup) and DP looked at his bowl slightly wistfully and said "it's not going to take much of a stretch to turn our food into baby food, is it?". Poor man.

MundayCakes85 · 03/03/2015 11:26

Hi everyone. Must be something in the water with all these non-sleeping children.
Baby woke up for poo and food at 10.30pm, at 4am for a chat and cuddle with Daddy and at 6am for more food. Then I ignored her cheerful chatter for another 1 1/2 hours in bed.
Been out with pram this morning so she managed to fall asleep on way home. Only once got a decent stretch in it.

FATEdestiny · 03/03/2015 11:50

I've got one of the older babies Tatty. No weaning until 26th March (6 months) at the earliest and a long time until there are established mealtimes. But from experience, assuming you want to eat as a family at lunchtime in the long term, it may need to move a long way from 1.30pm.

Somewhere around 12 months old, babies move to one lunchtime nap and it is not unusual that that tend to be from 11am initially. There's usually a period of time where very early lunches are necessary, which gradually get later as you push the nap time forward.

Even now my children start asking for lunch from 12pm, sometimes earlier. I wouldn't go any later than 12.30pm for lunch. Much depends on what time your breakfast and evening meal is, I suppose.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 03/03/2015 12:26

We do breakfast with 2.5yr old DS around 7am -7.30am, lunch starting between 11.30 - 12.30 and tea starting any time between 4.30 - 5.15pm. Obviously it was a little different when he was younger depending on naps as Fate says. And when he was a baby we did a milk feed before breakfast. But it wasn't long before that feed was dropped so he'd eat a good breakfast. Milk feeds slotted inbetween meals for a good while (up to a year I think).

Hope that made sense!!!

ohthegoats · 03/03/2015 12:51

We're going to move our evening meal earlier - lots earlier, to 5.30. I always used to eat then as a child since my parents worked from home. I'll be home from work by 5, and boyfriend can be home at 5.15... so, that'll be our 'family' meal. Probably better for us two as well to stop eating at 9 then going straight to bed. Will give us a proper evening with a bit of luck - I'm looking forward to some proper gym time, he wants to watch the football down the pub.

Baby now asleep in pushchair again - I just wandered around the garden for 10 minutes to get her to drop off. Fingers crossed she stays that way, today is nursery finding day... I'm going to need an hour or so for that. Ha.

tattyblue · 03/03/2015 13:09

I meant older children rather than older babies but my brain is not, alas, what it once was.

This is sort of what I thought. We tend to eat breakfast quite late too, because if you both work largely from home you get into some shocking habits, but I expect we'll end up slowly eating breakfast earlier and then lunch earlier will naturally follow. I'd like us to all eat together as much as possible to limit the amount of cooking.

tattyblue · 03/03/2015 13:19

(the ask eating together thing isn't total naivety on my part- as I start writing again we're going to have to split the childcare between us through the day and then both work when she goes to bed, so odds are meal times will be the only times we're all together).

STIGZ · 03/03/2015 15:16

Well i have made the decision to start weaning, i have made the decision with my health visitors blessing at the 4 month check up. She is guzzling 9 ounce every 3 and half hours which is bad for the reflux and she is now on the highest dose of omprezole, wish me luck ... Im really nervousSad

Happytimes31 · 03/03/2015 15:39

Good luck stigz!!! For all those with older kids, before they went to nursery did you alter their timetable to fit in so for example we probably won't get home from nursery until 6 three nights a week and then would need to do his tea and bath and bed, whereas now bathtime is at 6. Luckily a good few months away as yet but starting to wonder.

ohthegoats · 03/03/2015 16:09

Another 25 minutes nap. GRRRRRR...

ohthegoats · 03/03/2015 17:15

Still at least another hour to go. Today has been one of the longest in this whole 'life with baby' thing. Urgh.

Sleepywaterbaby · 03/03/2015 17:15

We have the bang on 30 mins napping... 30 mins n then whoosh - eyes are popped open, grin across the face, legs start going in anticipation of being picked up. Five minutes later... the yawns creep in.

Just in bed now waiting for lo to wake up. Taking a shared co sleeping nap is the only way we get past the 30 mins. Not very helpful for getting stuff done though.

splendide · 03/03/2015 17:33

My mum looked after him this afternoon so I coukd snooze and the wee bugger slept 2.5 hours for her.

MundayCakes85 · 03/03/2015 19:03

Good luck STIGZ let us know how you get on Smile
How did the nursery hunt go Goats? I can't start until my boss tells me where I'll be working when I go back in September.
Splendide I wish DD would give me someone a 2.5 hour nap!!!

STIGZ · 03/03/2015 19:22

Thanks ladiesSmile god tatty you must be so dedicated to work from home!! I don't think i would ever find the time to get anything done or resist a nap or two Shock

stigz pre-baby it was fine. There was lotsof pottering about making cups of tea and poking stuff and deciding I was done at half three because I'd made my word count and I quite fancied a bath (obviously the downside was being permanently broke). Post baby I think it's going to be really hard. I'm going to have to become so much more efficient, and also start getting up very early- dp has to keep more or less to office hours so I'll have to work while he does the morning stuff and then we'll swap at 9.30 or 10 and keep on playing tag through the day. I reckon I've got maybe a year of decent naps to work in? And hopefully that and early starts and palming the baby off on friends will get me a way into the next project. I think we're pretty aware of how lucky we are that we can both be at home, though. As long as we don't spend any money between now and 2019.

FATEdestiny · 03/03/2015 22:44

Tatty - am I allowed to ask what kind of books you write? (or is this private info?)

My DD naps have all of a sudden become longer and less frequent. She's one of the older ones here, so hopefully this change is on the way for all of you.

I have spent the last 3 days cleaning our oven. I am certain it should not take this long. 3 overnight soaks, 5th tub of Oven Bright cleaner. Maybe I should consider cleaning the oven more often Blush

Twistedheartache · 04/03/2015 00:05

Good luck with weaning stigz - I enjoyed it with DD1
We spent the day as a practice day for audiology appointment tomorrow. After 3 apps & virtually no results because she won't sleep I'm determined that we won't waste any more NHS time.
Fingers crossed it works as perfectly tomorrow. Only variable is the journey to the hospital - so since she hates the carseat & will sleep in the pram if we go on the bus it should be a disaster!
We've now managed 2 lunchtime naps in the crib so some progress there.
Fate if you need much more cleaning stuff you might as well pay £40 to have it done!
