New thread Grin, and I can assure you all, it'll be a corker.

WottaMess · 19/02/2015 05:37

Worse glad your finding the joy and hope you also found some sleep!

I'm off to that there Lunden today so early start. Ugh.

yummychocolate · 19/02/2015 06:35

wotta I am off to central London for work too and an earlier start for me. Smile

BettyBitesBums · 19/02/2015 17:47

Sorry for radio absence, I'm on nights and absolutely shattered although probably getting more sleep than Worse Grin Back tomorrow once I'm in a normal time zone.

yummychocolate · 19/02/2015 19:42

I came to have a bit of a moan that I was tired then I thought of you worse. Smile Although I think mine is low iron related as I feel cold too even when everyone is warm.

How is everyone today?

ecofreckle · 19/02/2015 19:46

We now have a full clan of marchers on Facebook for new baby boy gazing! Well done Shattered and welcome to the party. Hello poor Betty, yummy and Wotta with your crazy grown up jobs. Playing in woods with teachers doesn't really come close Smile The sleep crazy times this end had a brief disappearance last night so I'm hopeful for tonight. Worse what's new in baby world? Sorry for lack of paragraphs. I'm supposed to be cooking dinner. Silly Jamie Oliver and his veal mince. I'm cheating with grown up cow. Is that ok Plonky? Worse? Other culinary grown ups?

yummychocolate · 19/02/2015 20:47

Hurrah for babax! He has brought the marchers together on fb.

eco I admire you for cooking at this time of the evening. I am usually slumped on the sofa at this time.

Dh is watching football and I am supposed to be having an early night instead of mn.

Shatteredmamma1 · 19/02/2015 21:18

Grin wotta and yummy hope you've recovered from the early starts. wotta I've just re-read your epic nappy post. Wondering if it might be too much with two Shock but might see if I can borrow some first as have a few friends who use them. Thanks for the calpol advice too- who knew??! Oh and eco thanks for the offer of lending them, but pleased that that has popped thoughts of DC2 into your head!!
Yes I have now wasted spent a happy hour on FB. Smile lovely!! I can't remember what else I was going to post!! betty hope this is your last night and it goes quickly.

Plonkysaurus · 19/02/2015 21:30

Am soooooo tired. Probably not as tired as Worse, but I'm going to make this brief, as I'm already in bed. DS's teeth are doing that thing again.

Eco old cow is tastier than baby cow. Fact. Am all for using rose veal as by product of dairy industry but you're bob on just using whatever mince one might have.

Shattered good to see you on Facebook. I can't believe how many fair haired boys we have! The nappies honestly are as much work as you want them to be. You could get some from a nappy library to use part time and see how you get on, and if you like then commit, if not return?

Brain fried, g'night all!

OP posts:
WottaMess · 20/02/2015 06:52

Honestly, the nappies ain't that bad Grin. They take a little bit of thinking ahead of getting going and I would recommend trailling some to see what your preferences are, but once you're underway with your own set it's fine. Honestly, with my life I wouldn't do it if it was too hard Grin.

Got home at 20:50 last night. Am knackered (sorry Worse). Really feeling it this morning, want to go back to bed baaaadly! Shock

worserevived · 20/02/2015 08:29

Oh exciting, I must check FB! I'm glad babax has had his uses, as he is otherwise in disgrace. Second night in a row he has kept me up until 5.30am, and then he sleeps all day except for food. I keep telling him that the polite thing to do would be sleep all night except for food, but nope, not listening! So tired, yup. Happy though. I love the newborn phase. I appreciate that may be a little bit mad, but I just do, and it goes so quickly.

Eco grown up cow is just fine, and some might argue better, so I am sure the end result was delicious. If you are feeling really poncey, try it with buffalo. V healthy, ethically produced, and a little goes a long way as it tastes very rich.

Yummy low iron sounds like a bad thing, time to get it checked? Hope it's fixable.

Ah, Babax wants a second breakfast it would seem. Last midwife to see us declared him to be a piglet. He overeats! Seriously. I've had to cut his feeds a little shorter than he'd like, but with the positive result that he can now sleep as he doesn't feel sick, and he is no longer giving himself green poos (tmi, but hey, we're mums, we talk poo Grin)

StormyBrid · 20/02/2015 08:45

I suppose I should add Babax to my list. Which I haven't checked in a while, but if memory serves I believe the first of the second birthdays is next week. Anyone had any good present ideas?

yummychocolate · 20/02/2015 10:50

Ohhhh. Is it that time of the year again? Who's birthday is first? We are getting ds the ikea kitchen and putting some money into his account. I am also going to try to do a kinder egg sweet tree. Ds loves watching the videos on youtube of people unwrapping them. He calls them surprise. Btw he don't the chocolate he just likes unwrapping them.

worse I bet Babax is growing already. Glad you are enjoying the newborn phase. I don't think appreciated it until the toddler phase and felt like newborn stage was a doddle compared to toddledom.

There is a family history of low iron and no matter how many iron tablets we take over a period of time our levels only get up to borderline level. It must be a mediterranean thing.

StormyBrid · 20/02/2015 11:06

What are we calling Betty's small person on here? Bettyette? Bettoddle? Whichever, she's first, and technically a Februaryer. And I think Leni's boy's the youngest. Must check the list! The only one that always sticks in my head is Yummytoddle because he's the same day as Fartypants.

We've got her some play doh. She's forever going on about clay, thanks to Mister Maker and his air drying modelling clay, and it says 2+ on the packaging. And the previously mentioned pirate hat, of course.

Plonkysaurus · 20/02/2015 14:10

We are getting ds a Balance bike and some paints and brushes.

I'm thoroughly beaten by ds getting up at 5.30 and then a run around Clumber Park with my mum. He especially liked running full pelt at the geese.

Yummy the newborn stage is heated because its relentless. I think I prefer the toddle stage. DS is so interesting to me now. He was fascinatinG before but now....I can't explain. I'm more of a toddler person. He's hilarious.

OP posts:
Plonkysaurus · 20/02/2015 14:17

Heated? Hard!

OP posts:
yummychocolate · 20/02/2015 16:03

You are right plonky it is relentless especially as your body is trying to recover too. Every now and then I need a reminder of how bloody hard newborn stage is. I suppose every stage has pros and cons.

worserevived · 20/02/2015 19:04

Ah newborns v toddlers. Newborns are hands down easier than toddlers, but the newborn phase is in itself harder, Why? Sleep deprivation. I have not had more than an hour to an hour and a half in total sleep per night since he was born. It's taking its toll now. I'd give anything for just two hours unbroken sleep.

ecofreckle · 20/02/2015 19:53

Memory has probably
failed me....I can't recall that particular hell of the newborn phase. That sounds very hard indeed. Is dh taking toddle duties to allow you to focus on your boy and you? It will change soon.

Here we have the first sickness bug. Ecotod has had two one off vomits in the car but never a bug, although we did have dickie tummies one time, but no sick. It's our joint second birthday party tomorrow in Norfolk and I have a long entrenched sickness phobia so it's all a bit gloomy feeling here. Isn't it awful seeing your little one floppy with illness? I don't deal with it well. I should add, I do realise there are many worse things we could be facing.

I'm going to try looking for some positives and may come back later with more perk.

BTW, you're all gorgeous.

It is Friday right?

ecofreckle · 20/02/2015 20:07

and worse, if you're around, what should I Google to find the guidelines your doc gave you about getting fluids in please? I suck at Googling but will have a go with my common sense head on.

worserevived · 20/02/2015 20:17

Eco try this:

reference.medscape.com/calculator/maintenance-fluid-calculation-child

Divide hourly requirement into 10 min amounts and give that in drops using a syringe.

Betty can probably help more.

Hang in there, she should be over the worst in 24 hours. Get well soon ecotod

ecofreckle · 20/02/2015 20:26

Thank you Worse and sorry to be demanding when you are so so tired. Thanks

yummychocolate · 20/02/2015 23:06

worse please please please let someone take over so you can have some unbroken sleep. You need to rest as much as you can. There is only so much your body can take. Sorry to go on at you but you need some time to recover too. X

yummychocolate · 20/02/2015 23:12

eco have a bucket, towels on beds/sofa and wipes to hand. Little bits of dyralite every 10mins or so. Even if vomiting stops after 24rs or so their stomach will still pain them a good few days after. This bug is horrible and it drains them. My first experience was awful. Poor ds was all floppy, I was so unprepared I was catching vomit with my hand. Get well soon to your beautiful dd.

Plonkysaurus · 21/02/2015 09:28

Hope she gets better soon eco. Can she still bf? I'd have thought that'd have a higher chance of staying down than anything else. Lots of cuddles under a duvet with silly kids stuff on the telly (our go to on poorly days is still Sarah and Duck). No food until she's not puked for awhile. Lots of hand washing. But the cuddles are the most important part. Wine for you.

How did the not-so-baby-cow mince meal turn out? I've just bought a Yotam Ottolenghi book and I dripped a little drool on my hand while looking at it.

Worse could you bf lying down then at least relax when Babax is full and sleepy? It'll get easier, but that's not easy when you're in the middle of It, sorry. If I lived nearby is happily take your scrumptious lad off you while you sleep!

Ds is wearing a crazy outfit today. Stripy tall leggings, a grey top with red and green stripy sleeves, and walking boots. We haven't left the house yet but he insisted on the shoes. He looks like a boss. I'm sad that grown ups don't get to dress like this.

OP posts:
Shatteredmamma1 · 21/02/2015 10:10

Post a pic plonk that sounds like a fab outfit!
eco how is DD today? Any better? Hope you don't get it and it isn't too grim. Shame about the party. IIRC you were trying something for your phobia? How's it going? Sending Thanks
worse could you a) enlist PILs to help with worselet, b) make DH take him for a few hours c)express and get DH to do a bottle? Hope you get some sleep very soon, it's hard work.
I'm feeling a bit ugh today. Made the mistake of weighing myself (why?) , can't move without pain, can't sleep, and still counting in months not weeks. ! worse I need to try and get to 36 weeks at work really due to mat pay. TBH I'm not grumpy at work yet...hoping to keep that reined in!!
Ah at least it's the weekend. What's everyone up to? Smile
