SpottyTeacakes · 04/02/2015 10:01

I'm not sure they will last until the afternoonGrin they're mini ones and Ds has already had three Hmm

WLmum · 04/02/2015 21:14

hales you're so right, I'm an action plan kinda gal! Dm should be having hip and thigh replaced in 6 weeks time. She accidentally let slip to dd1 that she has cancer Hmm.
utopian it's a very personal thing but fwiw I do think you're doing the right thing. I had to push all of mine into self settling but when I did it was remarkably quick and we were all so much happier for it. The dds slept more soundly and I was much more relaxed.

halestone · 04/02/2015 23:33

How is Dd1 WL? And are you and your mum happy with that plan?

I have been ignoring my slimming world plan, using Christmas and New Year as an excuse. Well tonight i stood on the scales and cried so now its time to get tough with myself.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/02/2015 16:17

I've got a proud mum moment and j don't want to be that mum so I'm telling you lot instead Wink

Ds has been moved to top group phonics and is on the last set of books for 4-5 year olds Smile I'm really pleased as she has trouble writing etc due to her muscles so at least she's got the reading part figured Smile

WLmum · 05/02/2015 18:03

Great news spotty. Big virtual hoorah!
Bad news hales. Poor H (and you with the vomity laundry).
Dd1 didn't say much - I think she might know that dm has had cancer before and recovered so she might think it's going to be the same. If she asks I will lie as necessary. I was hoping for less than 6 weeks for selfish reasons but hey ho.

Stacks · 06/02/2015 08:02

Morning all. Finally after weeks of coughs and colds DD seems to be back to sleeping some. Still mostly 2 hour stretches overnight, but I can deal with that. I think I might move her into her cot soon though. Either this weekend or next. Not looking forward to the fight, but I am looking forward to getting the bed back.
DS is still struggling with separation anxiety, and so far no signs of improvement. It's got to be a phase, so we're just going to have to deal with it. I've cancelled the childminder, though she's offered us free 'play dates' (with me staying) at her house till he gets more settled again. She's lovely like that. I get tea and biscuits, get to feed DD and give her a quiet nap on the sofa, while she does all the things we don't have energy for at home. Last week she set up a paddling pool in her kitchen, brought in the slide from outside and let them loose!

Spotty hope you get some kind of good news from the Dr.

WL I hope DD1 is ok with the news. Will she tell others now?

Nutella you need to do what you need to do to get yourself some sleep and feeling better. dd won't remember a few nights of some crying.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/02/2015 16:10

Thanks stacks. Unfortunately my blood sample clotted so have to have it redone Monday meaning an even longer wait. I'm pleased you're getting more sleep and hope the transition to cot goes well.

Work and life is pretty stressful atm and I think one of the drs sensed this as he came up to be today and gave me a chocolate hobnob and a hug Grin

MrsNutella · 06/02/2015 18:03

Thanks everyone. Today DD has had very little daytime sleep so I'm not sure how tonight will go.

Last night DD woke at 11 ish I fed her and put her back in the cot. We were just trying to go to bed.
AIBU to expect DH to be still and quiet while waiting for DD to settle? I really wanted to hiss at him to stop moving. But it was a catch 22. If I say something she will definitely stir. If I say nothing and DH stops moving she might go off....anyway, she didn't settle. So I cuddled her. At which point DH obviously thought it was a good time to ask me if I was going to open DS's bedroom door Angry. After about 15-20 minutes of fussing around and DD not settling I gave in and she came into our bed Sad

This evening she was hard work and DS was hard work. Huzzah and hurrah it's bedtime!

MrsNutella · 06/02/2015 18:06

Spotty here is. Virtual hug from me too (((((hug)))) I'm sorry you're having a crappy time and that they have to take more blood. Thanks

Stacks I'm sending you sleepy thoughts for both DCs. I hope DS starts to move out of his anxious phase soon. Thanks

WL I hope you're ok and not too stressed. I hope your DM is well and feeling strong. Thanks
For everyone else BrewWine and Cake of your choice. If you're nice I'll even make room for you on the sofa.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/02/2015 19:06

WL I hope dd1 is ok. How old is she again? I was seven when my mum had a still birth (I know it's completely different) but I didn't get the reality of it at all I heard the words but I didn't feel it. I guess what I'm trying to say is she might say all the right things but not actually understand or be feeling upset. Sorry I'm probably not helping it's obviously a heartbreaking situation for you all Thanks

Barbeasty · 06/02/2015 20:02

Spotty Hope it all goes well. I thought of you in the Dr's today when someone was in for an awful lot of blood tests which sh didn't think she should have (related to lupus) because they had paper results from another practice. She was explaining to her daughter that they were seeing the practice manager to shout at her.

WL hope your DD is ok.

Stacks & Nutella lots of sleeping vibes.

I've had to work from home today after we were called to collect DD from after school club yesterday. Tonsillitis again, plus ear infection. That's a bout of tonsillitis in 3 of the last 4 months (just avoided January). Just another 5 to go before they'll refer her. She's averaging a half day off school for every week of term since she started in September!

And A is just such hard work. He's gone to bed in a pull up, 2 pairs of gruffalo pants and his gruffalo pyjamas.

They shared some crisps in a bowl earlier. A picked them all up and clasped them to his chest to stop DD having any- would have been far easier to run away with the bowl!

WLmum · 06/02/2015 20:46

Thanks all. spotty she's 7. She's not too much of a worrier but I hope she doesn't tell dd2 who is a total worrier and all round sensitive soul. Although big news that she decided on Monday that she liked school and hasn't cried about it since!
T is being cute and hilarious vs hard work atm - molars coming through poor thing but oh the clinging and chasing me crying is tough!
Just doing a big batch of fish pie for the dds for the freezer then wine and a touch of sewing before bed.

halestone · 06/02/2015 22:03

Stacks woohoo for the 2 hours sleep one small step at a time and before you know it you will be sleeping throughGrin

Nutella, one night at a time and you will eventually get there i promise.

Spotty hopefully tomorrow will be thel start of a better less stressful time for you. Thanks Wine

Beasty poor DdThanks i had tonisilitus alot in my teen years and got them removed when i was 18. In the ens i got so use to having them they didn't seem painful anymore IYSWIM. And A sounds hilarious.

WL hopefully Dd1 won't realise whats shes heard so won't mention it to Dd2. And yay for Dd2 going to school with no problems.

I have had a tattoo done today and i love it Grin plus me and Dp have come to a hotel and been out for a meal. You can tell we have a young child now as instead of staying out we've come back to the hotel to chill out and relax in peace.

OP posts:
WLmum · 06/02/2015 23:34

Oooh hales share a pic? A hotel? You lucky things! DH and I say that we want to go to a hotel to lay down and read our books! Rock and roll!

WLmum · 06/02/2015 23:35

How was your boss about the missed airport pick up?

SpottyTeacakes · 07/02/2015 05:49

Dh and I had afternoon naps in New York Blush

Hope you've enjoyed your night Hales Smile

We're going to see my sister in Kent today ds and dniece get on amazingly (4 months between them) so it'll be nice.

utopian99 · 07/02/2015 07:24

Hope you had a good night hales - we had a 24 hours away before A was born and spent a large part of it eating ourselves silly or asleep!

Hope everyone with sleep issues improve? MMiraculously after that post the next three nights have worked with no tears! We told him we're just in the kitchen and he can call if he wants dh, which he tried one night so dh went in and said hi and explained he was leaving again but still close, and all fine! I'll believe that we're fine after a week, but still, I'm just relieved we've got off lightly so far..

halestone · 07/02/2015 14:23

She was ok about it thankfully, although the taxi ride back cost her £80Shock That made me feel extra guilty tbh. I'll put a picture on fb in a minute. Dreading work tonight having to wear my pants without being able to pull them down and adding cream to the tattoo.

Utopian yay Well Done to O Grin

OP posts:
Barbeasty · 07/02/2015 19:51

Ouch Hales. Impressive picture!

We got the train to Swindon this afternoon. On the way home A got on the floor and tried to commando crawl backwards under the seats, saying "magic tunnel".

The bad news is that the Disney store closes next Saturday. The good news is as of next Saturday I'll have less temptation in my lunch break!

I'll have to go and get DD's birthday present this week though (for June!) It's the first time she's been to a disney store and she was like a child in a sweet shop.

A got some Mickey Mouse slippers. Might have to get some more Mickey merchandise ready for Christmas. He loves it.

WLmum · 08/02/2015 11:03

Pesky little T has managed to latch on a couple of times this week - even though it's been 6 weeks since I fed her she still asks me everyday - and I can feel my boobs ramping up! Top firmly clamped down and no early morning snuggles in the bed!

SpottyTeacakes · 08/02/2015 11:16

I've been practising my elsa plait today (on myself but for dd!) I think I've finally got it HmmGrin

MrsNutella · 08/02/2015 13:36

That's incredible WL! I'm really surprised that after 6 weeks she remembers and could affect / re activate your supply.
DD loved boob, she also loves to know everything that is going on though so I'm not sure if we will reach the same place we did with DS - where bottles were a much easier option.

Spotty I used to love having my hair braided when I was little. I never had the patience to try it on myself.

DS has an ear infection. He was miserable yesterday, today he is bouncing back and drugged to the eye balls with antibiotics etc and doesn't seem to have a temp or need painkillers today.
DD is doing some very respectable sleeps this weekend.
