Kitty - you were right, the 2 year assessment was not that exciting! The Hv wasn't at all bothered about bpears speech and said come back at 2.5 years if we still see no progress. Interesting the sheet said the questions were for a 2.5 age child so I have no idea why they ask you to come in at 2 years in the first place!

Did they get him to stack blocks and colour pear Grin

Loraline · 10/06/2015 16:15

Glad it wasn't stressful for you on the speech front pear

peardrop2 · 10/06/2015 17:19

Kitty - No, they just asked whether he could stack or colour. Anyone could lie if they wanted. The only thing she asked him to do was point to his body parts.

Lot - thank lor . I was relieved that I didn't get asked lots of frustrating questions about what I am doing to help his speech!

Gods it's gone even more down hill if they don't even watch them do that! Another 6 months and you'll be amazed by the difference in them

peardrop2 · 12/06/2015 14:43

Kitty - yes that is exactly what I thought! Already just in the few weeks since he's turned 2 I've seen a difference in his development so I can imagine that by Christmas he will be even further down the line!

How is everyone? Bring, how is your house project going? Agni, any further news with DS? Kitty, did the house get accepted? Frus, haven't heard from you for a while! I know Lor is in Ireland' dtd Grin

I'm on my fertile week and hoping to lay an egg this weekend. I'm meeting my bf (was bf until I had a baby) for dinner tonight in some hope to salvage our friendship. Since I had DS she just doesn't care so much. Our lives have drifted and I'm literally clinging on by a thread. She has no interest in seeing or getting to know bpears which is hard for me. She just wants me to be the person I was before...I am still that person but even better but she doesn't see it Hmm anyway, if it comes up and she asks about me having more children I'm going to be honest. If she carries on this way and refuses to travel towards me (because she has no car) then our friendship won't survive when I have another child. Luckily she's moved a bit closer to a better train station so she's only 50 minutes by train. It will take me an hour to visit by car tonight but I don't mind.

Yeah, it really sucks when friends aren't on the same life-path as us and things start to drift. I have a couple of good friends that aren't hitched or anywhere near it and it's hard to keep in touch sometimes since we just don't even have anything in common anymore. It's hard not to just talk about kids all the time and it's hard to hear things about dating or someone's work....Trying to explain to someone why you haven't "changed" but you have "changed" because of children is something just can't happen until they have one as well. Aww, hope tonight is at least a nice break from motherhood for you!

House project is going well. The office is done and the trim in there is finished. Now I just have the boy's room, the hallway and my bedroom (which of course is just covered in wood Hmm ) and then the basement is the last thing we have on the list to get done and it'll be this autumn when that gets tackled. So we have a timeline on when we'd like things done. Hoping to be in our new home (where ever that may be...) this time next summer!

Today is the first official day of summer holiday for the kids and we went on a 3-mile hike with some friends. Perfect for wearing the little sprouts out. But of course, now I'm exhausted too.

Frus - that's interesting. We have quite a few second hand word books handed on by my sister.

Bring - haha it's never simple is it...you keep the kids busy to get them tired and then you end up knackered too WinkConfused

And thank you bring. I enjoyed going out last night even though I had to leave a screaming bpear with my elderly neighbour Hmm He was fine though and of course she easily settled him to sleep when I had left...rascal

Well, I went to Ireland but now I'm back Grin

Had a fab time. Actually felt like a holiday. Was so lovely to spend time with my siblings and their kids. DS ADORES my 5 year old DNiece so it's hilarious to watch them together. Funny little messers. We had a party on Sunday in my sister's house for DS' 2nd birthday and she ordered a Thomas cake and had Thomas tablecloth and cups etc. It was a lovely day so we were out in her garden. Another night DH and I actually managed to go out to the cinema for the first time since DS was born. Also managed to DTD a couple of times - in my parents' house! Shock

Tomorrow we were supposed to be going to Foo FIghters in Wembley. It was going to be the first time we went out and let someone else put DS to bed. We'd booked one of his nursery workers to babysit for us. However, now Dave Grohl has gone and broken his leg so the gig is off Sad . Gutted.

bringonthetrumpets · 19/06/2015 13:39

So glad to hear that your time away felt like a holiday! Success!

M's birthday was yesterday and she rocked her birthday like any 2 year old would, with plenty of temper tantrums, screaming, melting-down, demanding things and throwing herself to the ground. I would also like to add there was no sugar involved in this behavior so holy fuck, we've got a super fun year ahead. Hmm M is also obsessed with ripping her nappies off so I gotta watch her or she'll just whip her pants down and rip the nappy off anywhere we are. Very self-assured this one.

Lor can you still head out on the town for a nice dinner and a drink instead? Take advantage of that babysitter!

Loraline · 19/06/2015 16:25

Oh dear Bring. We're okay with nappies for now but DS does tend to strip when we put him to bed. I hadn't even left the room yet last night and he was telling me the bag was too hot, so I turned around and he handed his gro-bag to me. He'd only undone the snaps on one shoulder but wriggled out of it. I went back in later and his pyjama/t-shirt top was around his waist. He'd got both arms out the neck and pulled it down, and was now fast asleep. Dork. In Ireland I went in at one point and he had one arm out the neck of his pyjama top and the other out the bottom so it was like a sash across his body Confused

We cancelled the babysitter. She was coming really early so we could see all the supports at Wembley and it was going to cost us a fortune. Doesn't seem worth it for just a dinner somehow.

bringonthetrumpets · 20/06/2015 00:42

Ahh I suppose. Bummer on the concert for you! I think once you reach 2 (or 3 or 4) kids, a babysitter putting all of them to bed is heavenly and sometimes I contemplate on hiring one to put them to bed and just going down to the park with a book so I don't have to do it! Wink

LOL at the PJ stripping!

M pooed on the carpeting last week, so that's about how much fun and games we've been having with taking clothes off around here. Hmm

peardrop2 · 22/06/2015 00:37

Hello!

Happy birthday to the latest 2 year olds on the bus Grin Sounds like you had a very peaceful birthday party bring...hah hah! Bpear has found his
Shouting voice big time since he turned 2 so I totally sympathise!

Lor - great to hear you had a fab catchup in Ireland! Lucky you for not having to organise DS's party! Envy Well done for dtd too! Fx it will be a lucky ending Grin

Not much to report here. I've been feeing very low about my irregular cycles. I still haven't ovulated this month. My body has been gearing up for the last 2 weeks but still nothing Confused It looks like I'm set to have another 39 day cycle (3rd one since August last year). The dtd mission has put a big strain on us and it's not fun Hmm I know it will happen someday soon. I need to work out how to make my cycles more regular first!!

peardrop2 · 22/06/2015 00:39

Bring - the thought of you hiring a babysitter to put kids to bed did make me smile Smile They should definitely offer a service for this!! Perhaps we need to go into business Wink (just organise it not to be the actual ones putting strangers kids to bed!!)

Woop woop! Star Star Star pear

Latest adventures in stripping - after two nights in a row of pulling his pj top down to his waist last night he was in fresh pyjamas with a tighter neck. I went in to check on him after he'd fallen asleep last night though, and crept into the room, and saw what I thought were his PJ shorts in the corner of the cot. And then I saw it. Naked bum stuck up in the air Shock Hmm Grin He'd pulled off his shorts and then his nappy and then went to sleep.

We picked him up and managed to get a nappy back on him without waking him and fortunately he hadn't peed in his bed.

Then, this morning, I heard him messing around in his bed, yapping away but not looking for us. Went in about 7.30 to find - oh yes- bare-bummed child AGAIN!

AGnu · 22/06/2015 13:46

Oh dear, all these nekkid toddlers! Grin Thankfully Runt hasn't shown much interest in stripping off, unless Calf is helping. Have any of you tried putting nappies on backwards? I've heard that can help but Calf has always been a pull-it-down-like-pants kind of stripper so it wouldn't make a difference for him. We've have a couple of wee-incidents with Calf & one where I think he was trying to change his own dirty nappy, removed it & then flung the thankfully pretty solid poo on top of his wardrobe. That was fun... Hmm

Runt's definitely a 2yo now... We had an hour long screaming tantrum the other day all because Calf needed medicine & I refused to give Runt some too. I resorted to trying to bribe him with juice in a syringe but that had no effect. He screamed & hit me if I came near him, screamed if I left him/looked at him/spoke to him... In the end I left him until he'd calmed down a little & just went & sat on the floor on the other side of the room. Daft child had got himself so worked up he took ages to calm down & eventually shuffled over to sit on my lap & whimper for 10 minutes. Once he was calm he suddenly leapt up & said "meh-min" & took my hand to lead me to find the juice syringe. Once he'd had it he went off to play perfectly happily! Confused We're also getting lots of flaunting the rules & running away laughing when we tell him off. It's very frustrating, or "frus-stressed-ful" as Calf would say.

Good luck this month TTCers! I reckon I'm making ground with wearing DH down! Shamrock

bringonthetrumpets · 22/06/2015 17:13

LOL Lor! Yes, we woke up this morning to M shouting from her room and her nappy and PJs bottoms tossed in the corner as well. But I must say, all this stripping has been great for potty-learning! She's made it to the little potty twice in 2 days! The boys took until they were over 3 to even be interested in using the potty and M just turned 2 and is super enthusiastic about it. Praise be, we may be on the home-stretch with nappies!

Star for Pear !! Awesome news on the TTC-front. Looks like your cycle is synching with mine again! this is getting slightly creepy how closely our cycles are mimicking each other despite the 4,000 miles

Also a Star for Agnu and the slight prodding of another baby on your DH. I just keep mentioning to my DH about how awesome it'll be when all of our kids are grown and come to visit us during the holidays a la The Family Stone (love that movie so much!) and to have grandkids and our children having relationships with each other. I'm the eldest of 4 and I love that I have different relationships with my siblings so I'm excited for our kids to have that as well.

It's looking like we might be trying next year, but it might be the year after. We just have to get out of this house and I can't imagine the stress of moving being very good to have during a pregnancy. We spent the day at my dad's yesterday and he's on 5 acres, it was just heavenly being able to sit down and know the kids aren't going to run down into the road because there is so much space for them to be busy somewhere else. We are so looking forward to that!
