That's amazing Bump! :)

YellowWellies · 17/12/2014 09:23

Splendide that long on the boob would only lead to weight gain if he's actually feeding or feeding efficiently. If he's sooking for comfort but not properly nursing (say if he had reflux or CMPI) or if he had a tongue tie, then he wouldn't necessarily be gaining vast amounts. Its very convenient for formula companies to think our natural milk supply is very delicate, unreliable and difficult to support a baby on - but the opposite is the norm.

ohthegoats · 17/12/2014 09:26

Since her jabs the following has happened:

Wanting to feed more often - my boobs are behaving like they did in week 1 (leaking etc)
Takes ages to go to sleep at bedtime (10.30) - crying lots, comforting required for sometimes an hour or more,
She won't stay asleep if we put her in her crib (previously slept fine).
Really offensive smelling nappies - look the same, but urgh.
Generally quite grumpy, but also weirdly calmer - subdued I'd say.

A a coincidence at 9 weeks, or low level ill due to jabs?

splendide · 17/12/2014 10:30

Just had him weighed, he's put on nothing this week at all. Poor thing I'm starving him. Not sure what to do now other than GP I suppose. HV didn't really have any advice.

Hi all - taken me all morning to catch up!

Tatty - I basically do colouring in for a living so wih you on the job front Grin

I've taken the major step to reintroduce milk into my diet. I've tackled my oversupply and all seems better. I'm doing this 6 stage programme www.gwh.nhs.uk/media/151150/reintroduction_of_dairy_plan.pdf and so far at stage 2.
I've not noticed any change in N and his poos seem normal yellow,no green, no blood etc so hoping that I had oversupply issues not a baby with reflux or CMPI issues. We haven't had any meds I only gave up dairy at 3weeks and have been dairy free for 6 weeks. so going to keep going and see how I get on. If all ok I'll be able to eat my own body weight in brandy butter on Xmas day!

Oh and I have no idea how much N sleeps in the day. He seems to be a cat mapper much like ds1. Sleeps well in his cot at night but only on me/buggy/sling in the day! Hes defo awake in the day for way more than 2 hours... And he's 10 weeks.

Ok, Ds went down in the Sleepyhead at 11pm, then woke at 1.40 (3 hr stretch for him, as I hold him upright after feeds). He wasn't cueing to be fed, so I paced with him for a bit and he settled pretty quickly. However the transfer back to the SH woke him again and it took a bit longer to settle him again. I didn't dare try to transfer him again, so he slept on me until 3.50. After feeding I was able to get him back into the SH where he stayed until 7am and my alarm.

I'm pretty pleased he went 5.5 hours between feeds, but less than ecstatic that I was mostly awake from 1.40-4.45. Do I do the same tonight, or do I repeatedly try to transfer him, even though I may end up having to feed earlier?

wondermoose13 · 17/12/2014 11:18

Babymoose slept for a few hours but has since been in bed with me and doing his 3min feed then sleep for 15 mins pattern
We finally got an appointment to have his tt reviewed as it may have reattached buy earliest they can do is 6th jan :(
Im driving over an hour to go to a bf clinic this aft that supposedly has a wonder consultant running it to try and get some practical help for the next three weeks.
I feel like an absolute wreck today, shes going to think im a nutter as im bound to cry at her, i really want to keep bf but its so damn hard when i feel like hes starving, he hasnt put any weight on this week and he seems so skinny :(

LebkuchenMonster · 17/12/2014 11:43

moose I guess you've tried breast compressions while feeding?

wondermoose13 · 17/12/2014 11:46

Yeh once or twice, it seems to put him off :s hes trying to feed now and i can just hear big gulps if air going in :(

splendide · 17/12/2014 12:28

I cried so much today Moose. It feels horrible when they don't put on weight. Then just as I'd calmed down a lady said "oh he's sweet! He must be days old!" He's 7 weeks!

However, finally had him checked properly and he does have a tongue tie! Can't believe how long that took to be noticed!

fedupofrainydays · 17/12/2014 12:31

Those woth TT issues can you see someone privately - to be quicker than NHS? With both my kids I've had to do that and been about £100 to sort.

splendide · 17/12/2014 12:52

Yes I'm getting it done privately tonight! Weeks to wait on the NHS apparently.

tattyblue · 17/12/2014 12:56

splendide I really hope this makes a big difference for you. Fingers crossed.

After two days of high quality napping I've ballsed today up royally by waking the baby this morning. Now she's punishing me by refusing to go back to sleep.

fatpony · 17/12/2014 13:00

Ah, hope that sorts it for you splendide. I wish they would just check all newborns at hosp for TT.

mrsb87 · 17/12/2014 13:04

I wish I could afford to get Dylan's done til the nhs can do it Sad
Glad it's finally being felt with splendide

mrsb87 · 17/12/2014 13:04

*dealt

splendide · 17/12/2014 13:14

It's crazy how they make you wait :(

tattyblue · 17/12/2014 13:25

Whoops. We just had a bit of green poo here. I know this has been covered before but can someone remind me- what should I be doing? It was only a smear of green but I'd like to preempt any problems...

tattyblue · 17/12/2014 13:40

... just had another poo that was back to normal. Does that mean it's cleared her system? Also, does anyone know what the time frame is? As in, if she has a green poo, how long ago is it likely that it was caused? I'm thinking about night feeding, when she only has short feeds.

hefner · 17/12/2014 13:50

Splendide I'm glad the tongue tie has finally been spotted. Having It's tongue tie snipped did wonders for his feeding, hope it's the same for you. Wondermoose I hope the bf clinic is helpful. It's such an awful feeling when they're struggling to feed. My dd didn't put weight on and I felt like I was starving her. She's a perfectly normal sized 3 year old but I strongly remember how awful it felt, so I've got my fingers crossed for you and splendide.

hefner · 17/12/2014 13:52

I meant T's tongue tie - I promise I don't call him "it"!

YellowWellies · 17/12/2014 14:35

Splendide hurray! Now stop doubting yourself my darlin! Your mothering ability and milk supply is amazing xxx

YellowWellies · 17/12/2014 14:38

Tatty the odd green poo is normal - maybe a sign of a feed with too much foremilk such as a short night feed. Don't worry. If poo is persistently green it can suggest lactose overload, infection or intolerance but the odd one is fine.
