The trouble with the silly hats is after a few years you end up with a lot of silly hats. But luckily I never stop finding them hilarious ( everyone else does ).

Sorehead · 11/12/2014 22:02

Tatty- I may steal the pyjamas idea!

yellow- Good idea about something to keep children occupied on Christmas morning. Will have to remember that when DS is a bit older.

My Mum used to do that with the Christmas tree after I'd helped to decorate it. She didn't tell me until fairly recently and I'd never noticed so always just thought I was good at decorating it!

I want to start buying a new Christmas tree ornament each year, letting DS choose them when he's a bit older- this year he gets no say!

Sorehead · 11/12/2014 22:04

yellow- glad everyone loved Lil Xmas Grin I'm still too scared to take DS into the office because I just know he'll cry and I'll want the ground to swallow me up; open plan office with around 200 people on each floor and my actual department is only small so there are lots of people I don't know who'd be affected by the noise and would give death stares!

wondermoose13 · 11/12/2014 22:13

sorehead i know exactly what u mean, took paddy into work on weds for a friends 30th bday lunch and he screamed the place down :s the general consensus was "hes very cute but very loud" fun times :s

Kirstipops · 11/12/2014 22:46

Loving reading about your Christmas traditions, the ideas of new jammies, silly hats and Christmas box of goodies on Christmas eve may all be stolen Xmas Grin
The main thing I can think of is my sister and I buying a different liqueur each year to have our Christmas morning champagne ( cava or prosecco ) cocktails, so we are apparently a family of lushes hehe. Every Christmas eve my DH and I go out for dinner and then to the Glasgow Film Theatre (nice independent art deco style cinema) to watch It's a Wonderful Life. This year I've bought the DVD so we can start a new tradition of watching it at home with some mulled wine and Christmassy candles on the go, can't wait Xmas Smile

Sorehead · 11/12/2014 23:01

*kirstipops- it's not Christmas without a Christmassy candle (or three!) DH always kicks up a fuss about me buying candles he may have a point; I think I have a mild addiction but I've come home many a time to find he's lit the candles in the living room. He bought me a Yankee Candle advent calendar and is more excited about opening each window than I am!

wondermoose- I just know that'd happen to us. Mind you, the people at work who I'm bothered about seeing have either been to see me at home or are planning to so I'm not too bothered about going in to the office. Might save it for a day I'm REALLY bored and need something to do that doesn't cost money or involve being outdoors. Were people arsey about him crying, or were they more sympathetic?

YellowWellies · 11/12/2014 23:12

Kirsti that's the best Christmas film ever! The adults always watch it in our house. The kids always watch the Snowman too.

Lil slept and occasionally woke for cuddles and a smile. I couldn't believe it as she'd been a real fusspot at home, and had slept thru a long rail replacement bus journey because of the snow. Sometimes getting out of the house is the best cure for fussing, other times it amplifies it a hundredfold. Just wish you could tell in advance which way it'll go.Confused

Kirstipops · 12/12/2014 03:34

Quiet here tonight, hope you're all asleep Xmas Wink

ExcitedCJ · 12/12/2014 04:04

Hello. Thanks for the well wishes for DH, he is getting a little better. The nasal antibiotic cream seems to have worked a treat. Thank goodness no more liquid for now. Just can't wait to get back to normal as the mucous in his poo is worrying me & I'm currently assigning it to the cold & AB use.
Wonder & sore I have open plan office at work too & visited on the same day that I had the car packed full to move 80 miles North. I had to unpack the boot to get the buggy out. My DD was so jealous she kept running off, luckily a colleague took her to do colouring. It was very stressful but luckily no crying, just sleepy baby cuteness, he was only 4 or 5 weeks. Next week might be different, going in again to an open Christmas breakfast which approx 200 ish will attend!
Christmas tradition is the same as Yellow my Mum buys myself & my brother a decoration for the tree every year. This year she has passed it on to my DC so I must start too.
STIGZ glad it went smoothly, let us know when you start to see a difference, will probably be Sun before things start to mellow.

fedupofrainydays · 12/12/2014 04:22

I had my first mulled wine of the season on weds - was yummy! In a pub by the river. Trying to make the most of being able to do things like that, have coffee, wander round shops etc before R turns into a crazy toddler who won't sit still and runs off!
We seem to have turned but if a corner with sleep - not sure how long will last. Last night was 8 to 3 and then 6. Tonight it's been dH did a dreamfeed at 11/12 ish and just had his eyes open now so popped him on my rock hard boob!!

fedupofrainydays · 12/12/2014 04:38

Just got up to express the other boobs that he didn't want and it's very stormy outside!!

ExcitedCJ · 12/12/2014 04:43

Thunder here & I'm wide awake! Step away from the internet.. Smile

ExcitedCJ · 12/12/2014 04:43

Baby asleep 1/2 hr ago!

fedupofrainydays · 12/12/2014 04:51

I know... Am wide awake now! Got a really sore throat too so knkw I need to get some sleep!

tattyblue · 12/12/2014 08:16

Our first night away from home and the baby has slept like a pro. Down at nine thirty, ten minute feeds at two twenty and five thirty, awake again just before eight, and now she's dozing in my lap. Super baby. I thought it was going to be a nightmare.

ExcitedCJ · 12/12/2014 09:06

Good news Tatty long may it last. Smile

fatpony · 12/12/2014 09:06

My new Xmas tradition is to make pear ginger cinnamon champagne, doing a trial run n Sunday!

BadgerInBury · 12/12/2014 09:23

fatpony Recipe please, that sounds amazing!

I'm taking Baby Badger to physio today for her talipes feet. This means a tram and then a bus, then the same back. I can't decide whether to take the pram (might not fit on busy bus - it's massive and not collapse able) or sling (she loves this for up to two hours then fights to get out and we're likely to be four hours all told). Hmmm.

Smooshie85 · 12/12/2014 09:24

I love hearing about all the Christmas traditions, this year we are wearing Xmas jumpers. I'll be taking us to my parents only 35 mins away and rejoice hubby had Christmas Eve off! Naughty treat me and mum have been making home made flavoured liqueurs - not that I'll get to drink much of it but I've made vanilla vodka and mums got some sloe gin!
On a plus note baby Adams slept through until 4.30am hurrah!!

Kirstipops · 12/12/2014 09:57

Fatpony I saw a recipe for that on the BBC Good Food website, my sis and I are trying it this year, looks delish!

MundayCakes85 · 12/12/2014 10:44

Glad to hear good sleep stories, we got a 6 hour stretch then she was crying with trapped wind Sad Finally managed another 2 hours during which her 8 week jabs (at 8w5d) got re-scheduled for next week when she'll be 9w4d and off to my grandparents. So annoyed Angry

splendide · 12/12/2014 11:30

I'm having a horrible morning. He hates being in his pram, won't go to sleep in it just screams. It feels so unlucky and unfair, I can't even go out. No wonder I'm depressed.

splendide · 12/12/2014 11:32

Maybe he's hungry all the time. I'm seriously considering packing in the breastfeeding.

FATEdestiny · 12/12/2014 12:16

Splendid - I'm having a 'hard work breastfeeding' day today too. Lets get through this together Smile

After a night where she was very unsettled with a cough and blocked nose, I have decided to cancel all plans for today. I am:

  • Wearing leggings, poloneck, fluffy onesie, fluffy socks
  • Kingsized duvet cover from upstairs on the sofa downstairs (no TV in bedroom)
  • Watching trashy morning TV and may watch trashy tv on catchup this afternoon
  • No plans on moving except to make tea and toast and butter (too lazy to eat anything else
  • May crack open the box of malteasers in cupboard
  • DD in bouncy chair (cos it's the lazy way to get her to sleep)
  • She is wrapped up super warm too to be cosy with me.
  • Waking her every 2 hours to put boob in mouth. If not interested then dummy and bounce back to sleep. I intend to keep her asleep as much as possible
  • Have also defrosted a 5oz bag of expressed milk and am using this as 50ml 'top ups' after each feed. Just for today, 'cos I want to make sure she has plenty of fluids.
  • Have expressing pump plugged in next to me and am pumping every 2 hours after feed (to increase supply while she is poorly)

This is my emergency 'don't give in to formula' routine. I generally only need a day or two like this to be over it and back to normal. Have had three of these kinds of sessions in her 11 weeks.

Time things easy Splendid, everything will be fine.

wondermoose13 · 12/12/2014 12:35

sore there was a general amount of sympathy but with an underlying feeling from a few people of "why does baby still cry when mum picks it up?" Which always makes me feel fabulous :s
splendid weve had such a shitty week of bf. He goes on for 5 mins then either goes bat shit crazy or falls asleep (wakes immediately if i dare to move- so i cant express after feeds) i reckon hes destroyed his supply and thats why hes annoyed.
We dont even have a back up of formula as hes being investigated for cmpi

Went to gp this morning about the return of blood in poo and because babymoose was all happy and smiley (full on screaming when i got him home!), grumpy old man wouldnt refer us to hospital to be properly checked over. He said to bring him back at 5pm not sure what the point is.. have a feeling ill be off to ooh or a&e tonight as his sr blatently isnt under control, keeps getting red round his lips from the acid bubbles, seems painful to poo, and constant back arching and coughing and spluttering in his sleep. Also noticed this morning been sick in his sleep which is beyond frustrating when hes barely feeding!
Really hating the gp at the moment!
