Naps are a fluke here too, yesterday and day before she had a two hour nap in the afternoon, other than that it's just 15-30 minute naps grabbed here and there.

Weird question- baby has an umbilical granuloma and yesterday the doctor said it needed to be cauterized. I've been given a prescription for silver nitrate sticks and told to go back next week. I think I just have to take the sticks with me, not doanything with them myself. Does tks sound right? It was in the middle of another conversation and I didn't realise I want sure until I'd left. I'm so crap with doctors.

MundayCakes85 · 11/12/2014 10:47

Tatty my LO has one too and the doctor didn't seem too bothered by it. Said it should go on it's own? I've got a doctor's apt tomorrow so I'll ask then.
Just did a long drive around the corner for baby massage. Thought I'd try to calm her down before she cries the whole time Blush Grin

tattyblue · 11/12/2014 11:29

Yeah, the last doctor I saw said put salt on it, this one said cauterize it. I'm not sure there's a consensus to be honest.

Littlefeet26 · 11/12/2014 11:33

bump my DS has got horrible mucous poo and he had blood in it last week. Yesterday the dtr said that it could be a sign of an infection or that it's more likely to be an intolerance. I've got to send a sample off (lovely task!) to rule out infection and then look at what else could be causing it. Was it hard going dairy free? I'll obviously do what is needed to keep him well and happy but am a tiny bit gutted because I was so sick all the way through pregnancy and am only just starting to really enjoy food again! (Although I know that makes me sound really selfish Sad)
STIGZ so glad you got the meds you need!! Hopefully your LO will start to improve soon.

FlipFantasia · 11/12/2014 12:10

Tatty my dd2 had a granuloma - it was very weepy but not painful and it just seemed weird after the older two. Also I had to keep it dry (big hassle at bath time as we use a tummy tub). At her two week check the paediatrician used the silver nitrate stick to cauterise (we're in the US). Looked super simple - she just twirled it around the belly button, making it grey. Dd2 didn't cry or anything. Then we waited a few days (had to keep it dry) until it looked like normal skin again and it was all good. The grey does kind of stain vests, so don't use any favourites!

STIGZ · 11/12/2014 12:10

Just picked up losec prescription
" one 20mg tablet to be taken daily"
I suppose i need to faff about and crush it ?

tattyblue · 11/12/2014 12:29

Thanks flip . They confirmed at the pharmacy that it's to take with us, too. Man, I really need to learn to listen.

Kirstipops · 11/12/2014 12:46

Haha Tatty I was the same at H's appointment for her jabs, I smiled politely at "something something temperature something Calpol something something....".
Sometimes I spend so much time trying to look like I'm obediently paying attention that I forget to actually pay attention Xmas Blush

ExcitedCJ · 11/12/2014 13:00

STIGZ Losec Mups? 20mg? That is a strong dose.
Let me know if it's Mups & I'll explain what I do, it is easy. :)

STIGZ · 11/12/2014 13:26

Yeah cj losec mups but its 10mg not 20mg !!

BettyJudy · 11/12/2014 13:40

kirsti thought it was just me that does that!! Heheh

ExcitedCJ · 11/12/2014 14:05

Ah.. Same dose as us. Im just about to give it, I will put on pic in a minute. Basically I get calpol syringe & first thing in morning put the 2 parts into a little tiny bowl/expresso cup/shot glass of boiling water & let it cool to room temp. Pop tablet into syringe & suck up syringe full of cooked water. Lay it on its side for 5 mins & it will dissolve. Shake to disperse the little balls (active ingredient, don't work if crushed) & squirt high up into back of cheek.

bump yeh we had watery poo mucous and blood, have been df for 3 weeks still v green and mucousy but v strong vinegar smell, is on ranitidine for silent reflux but still screams all day
Blood in poo again sun and weds am, fairly sure i havent slipped up, think it might be the almond milk ive been using :(
Hes started seeming in a lot of pain when he poos even tho its watery, and also sounds like hes choking on saliva when hes asleep so im sure the ranitidine isnt helping his reflux
Desperately trying to get referred to paeds as cant see my usual gp so seeing grumpy old man gp tomorrow so i cant imagine im going to get anywhere
Dietician on tuesday - im bf but hes being useless this week and barely eating so hes screwing his supply as he never empties a breast and he wont let me put him down so cant express
Off to my 3rd bf group of the week tomorrow not that theyre going to tell me anything new
Sorry for huge rant just feeling really fed up sat here with one numb arm trapped under a possibly sleeping baby that is happily chewing on my nipple!

YellowWellies · 11/12/2014 17:25

Moose I'm 10 weeks dairy and soy free and Lil is like a model baby now. (Ha now I've jinxed it!). It might be worth excluding soya too as 40% of CMPI babies react to soy protein too (should be OK with soy lecithin as it only contains trace, if any soy)?

Little feet bar cheese, everything can be made dairy free with the right substitutions. This week I'm cooking beef stroganoff and bacon and creamy mushroom pasta (using oat cream), chicken tikka masala (coconut milk), cheese less pizza and lamb with mango and couscous. I baked dairy free mince pies and Betty Crockers devil food cake is a perfect choc fix. I was 18 months dairy free with my DS so know good cheats - pm me xxx

MundayCakes85 · 11/12/2014 18:04

Rant alert-
I find it so irritating and rude when I'm telling DH what I need him to do to help me get baby fed, dinner on, washing dried and put away and he completely blanks me. So when I repeat myself or ask for a reaction he acts like I'm a nag. Angry
It's just nice to get a response when I try to have a conversation seeing as DD can't talk, grrrr.
Sorry!

STIGZ · 11/12/2014 18:32

Thanks so much cj just waiting on her rising from her slumber then i will attempt it !

ExcitedCJ · 11/12/2014 18:48

STIGZ meant to say... Don't leave tablet dissolved for longer than 20 mins, it will not work, think the coating dissolves & the ant-acid won't have a chance to work.
I alternate between putting him on changing may & holding him at a reclined position, not sure which is most effective. Warning - you will get some spat out, administer small amounts at a time & you will get the choking thing. My DS chokes & spits but smiles in between now!

Sorehead · 11/12/2014 19:04

I've just typed out a long reply and lost it Angry

We're now on day two of a bedtime 'routine' (I know at 8 weeks it may be hit and miss but I just wanted to get into habit of bath, story, milk, song then bed for me more than anything). Touch wood, despite his reluctance to nap during the day, DS goes into his Moses basket quite well of an evening.

I think we need to get into some sort of loose routine for daytime sleeping too, because at the moment DS is ending up overtired. At the moment he will currently only sleep on me, or in his carseat (whilst in the car). If I move him off me, even if he's in a deep sleep, his eyes ping open. When he's fallen asleep in the carseat, he wakes up about 10 mins after arriving home. I know he obviously wants to be close to me/DH at the moment, and I'm going to be led by him, but has anyone got any tips to help him settle in his Moses basket/ crib when the time comes? Putting him down 'sleepy but not sleeping' doesn't work for us at the moment- maybe because he's still not ready?

Trying to remember what I put in my lost post....
excited- is it your DS who was poorly? Hope he's feeling better now!

tatty- hopefully our long stretches between night feeds aren't too far off!

I can't remember what else I was writing, so I hope everyone else is OK Smile

Has anyone got any Christmas traditions they're going to start with their little ones? Xmas Smile

mrsb87 · 11/12/2014 20:03

kirsti I'm exactly the same when it comes to listening! I come home and Phil asks me about what they said and I can never remember. When the hv came for her for first visit she told me when all the meets el were etc...can't remember any of it!

STIGZ · 11/12/2014 20:26

cj wee soul took it no botherSmile hope your little man is feeling better?

munday lol at your dp rant, me & mine have been a bickering a fair bit recently, tiredness is a bitch and so am i when I'm tired Xmas Blush my period is starting so I'm feeling extra emotional & exhausted, but dp is no picnic either when he's tired but he's lucky he's not doing the night feeds whilst dealing with hormones, blood and crampsSmile

tattyblue · 11/12/2014 20:51

Oooooh, Christmas traditions... a friend of mine gets new pajamas from her mum every Christmas Eve. I think this is an excellent one and we're going to steal it. Also, we go for a walk on Christmas day in silly hats.

We're at partner's mum's for a few days. She's so nice to me and supportive, which makes such a difference as my own mum died years ago. Also, she really makes an effort to never say when she would do things differently. However, his grandma is also here. She gets a free pass because she's ninety two, but still... apparently I should just put the baby down sui she can go to sleep, because all this holding her us just making her bothered. Also she clearly only needs to eat every four hours. IN MY DREAMS.

YellowWellies · 11/12/2014 21:11

On Christmas eve I get the kids involved with baking mince pies and decorating the (dairy free!) Yule log. We have a Christmas Eve box (I'm half Polish and in Poland Christmas is celebrated on Christmas eve) in the box are new PJs / onesies for everyone, a festive film or game and hot chocolate / goodies. We have Polish food (pierogi, barscht czerwony, bigos) too.

The kids have something big and crafty to do on Christmas morning to keep them out of the kitchen. Last year it was decorating place settings, this year I've got the kids a cardboard 'wendyhouse' castle - DH is supervising the painting of the castle whilst my sis and I quaff wine cook lunch.

After lunch we go and walk the dog. Let the kids get hideously sugared up and overtired and then have a well deserved Wine. when they're asleep!

Tomorrow the wee cousins are all coming over to decorate the tree. I'll rearrange the decorations after they're in bed Smile .

SIL sends the kids a new tree decoration every year which is a very thoughtful idea.

YellowWellies · 11/12/2014 21:12

Tatty I may steal your silly hat idea for the dog walk!

I had my work Christmas lunch today. Lil was a hit Smile
