Welcome everyone. You're doing a good job by the way. Remember that.

Dairy free people this book is great... www.amazon.co.uk/River-Cottage-Light-Easy-Healthy/dp/1408853531

Stigz so sorry you had to go through all of that... Hope the meds work.

I second the feliway. It's great stuff. We have a cat with issues... Last year she took to wring on the Xmas tree and the feliway stopped any odd behaviour.

Yellow not sure what size bed and duvet your son has but when we moved my ds into a bed I tucked the duvet sideways round the bed to sort of hold him in so he got used to it and didn't miss the sleeping bag.

kirsti thanks. Also interested to know how long you can leave a sleeping baby sleeping at night at nearly eight weeks

sazzlehopes · 10/12/2014 18:59

I have an appointment at the Gps this fri morning but I'm not hopeful as I think I have he idiot doctor that last time told me flat out that CMPI didn't exsist and I was mad for giving up dairy.... Angry
However I have to go to the docs as I think Ned has such bad reflux that he's made himself hoarse? He sounds like he's lost his voice almost completely...a bit like when I've been out at a gig or something shouting all evening. Do you know what I mean? Could it be reflux and acid burn doing that to his throat? He sounds so sad with it, all squeaky. It's not his voice at all... I better be taken seriously on fri or they'll be trouble. Sad

Thank goodness for that stigs! They suddenly changed their minds on what they can prescribe then eh?!Hmm

Kirstipops · 10/12/2014 19:39

Whoop whoop Stigz!! What a palaver but so glad you got there in the end!

YellowWellies · 10/12/2014 20:12

Happy I'd leave an 8 weeker to sleep all night - relax and enjoy it.

Stigz hurrah! But sad that it took you pointing out a prescription error (gaviscon on top of thickener could have choked him) to make them see sense! Envy 2mg \kg of body weight was the magic dose that knocked Jonas' reflux on the head.

Sazzle fab tip on the duvet. That book's on my Christmas list Smile.

And yes a hoarse voice indicates inflammation of the larynx from refluxed stomach acid. Sounds like stronger meds are needed. That's what got OOH to give Lilla ranitidine - she sounded like a squeaky dog toy Sad after a couple of days on antacids it came back fine.

STIGZ · 10/12/2014 20:27

Thanks so much girls, wish i had this thread first time around Wink

Enjoyed reading all your plans for crimbo, i always imagine it would be so exciting "driving home for christmas" i would deffo play that song all the way there!

Im in my house this year with a few family members coming around, cant wait as our new house is twice the size of my old one. Very scary at how close it actually isShock

Happytimes31 · 10/12/2014 20:50

yellow thanks if it happens again I will! Luckily he woke before I really started to worry.

Kirstipops · 10/12/2014 21:00

Hopefully the long sleeps are a sign of things to come Happy, H is slowly edging towards doing an 8 hour stretch at nearly-10 weeks Shock

splendide · 10/12/2014 22:25

Good luck for tonight everybody, hope we all get some sleep!

Sorehead · 10/12/2014 22:33

yellow- that HV made a refreshing change. She was a lot more helpful than other HCPs I've seen so I'll definitely go back to her drop in clinic for other questions etc.

stigz- that's good news re: new meds but awful performance from your GP! Hopefully you'll get your happy baby back now, in plenty of time for Christmas!

Very jealous of those who are getting longer stretches of sleep at night! No sign of it here; we're still consistently 3-4 hour stretches at nearly 8 weeks (FF)

How much/ often are/ were your babies napping during the day around this age?

ExcitedCJ · 11/12/2014 02:07

STIGZ :) :) that is great news. Fantastic. Things should start to get a bit easier over the next 2 - 5 days.
I'm up with a wee sick baby. My DS has his 3rd cold (blimming nursery DD brings a new strain of Black Death home every week) & the wee sod is chocking on all the snot which means I am getting covered in milk after every feed & he wants to snack instead of having a big feed.
He has been on 1 antibiotic, finished a week ago which cleared his chest but looks like we may need another to clear is upper respiratory. :(

ExcitedCJ · 11/12/2014 02:12

Sore how often you feeding in day? My DD slept through from 10 weeks on formula, every 3 hrs during day & swaddle at night was the trick!
My DS is not really sleeping in any predictable pattern at all in day, could be 1 1/2 hrs of snatched sleep on a bad day or nearly 5 hours sleep on a day when we are on the move a lot. I didn't have to do nursery run this morning & put him back down after his morning feed & he slept 3 hrs where normally I would get 1 HR if lucky. Although he isn't well so who knows. Hmm

fedupofrainydays · 11/12/2014 03:24

I think if you can it's important for them to nap regularly in the day. My DS usually has one big sleep if around 2 to 3 hours and then other half hour ones.
stigz that's great news!

My baby that never sleeps more than 3 to 4 hours has just slept from 8 pm to 3 am - unheard of in this house! Total fluke.

tattyblue · 11/12/2014 05:20

sorehead we're 8 weeks and in 3-4 hour stretches as well, although to be honest that feels like riches after the first six weeks. She's definitely better after basis in the day, but sometimes it's a struggle. I try and get her in the sling for a couple of hours in the afternoon so at least she's had that.

tattyblue · 11/12/2014 05:21

Naps, not basis.

splendide · 11/12/2014 05:21

It's so random! Fluke here too - just got 6 hours! Amazed. He napped from 5-7 (normally his big nap is more like 1-4) so I thought I'd be in for a really bad night but he fed pretty constantly from 7-11 then we went to bed together and he's only just up! It's like he could sense I was on the edge of some sort of breakdown. Ow boobs though. He's doing a god job of draining one but I'll have to get him on the other or I'm going to get mastitis aren't i?

I'm completely aware this won't be a regular thing but one night of it has given me some hope.

Stigz that's great you've sorted it! Can't believe the hoops you had to jump through though. Ridiculous.

MundayCakes85 · 11/12/2014 06:15

Sore E naps 4-5 times a day but for no longer than 45mins, usually about half an hour. Things that seem to help- driving and staying in car seat, going for a walk, leaving her on me after a feed until she's really asleep before putting in carry cot. None of these works every time though!!!

fatpony · 11/12/2014 06:20

That's great news Stigz, hope the new medicine works. What a palaver...

M's day naps are erratic too. I can get nearly two hours from him in the morning if I take him out in the pram. It's been ages since I've been at home in the mornings. Sometimes 1-2 hrs in the afternoon between catnaps and sling. I feel he should sleep more. Next week I'll be at home in the mornings more and am worried about getting that two hours out of him.

He's been going to bed earlier in the evenings as has appeared exhausted and ratty by 8. Last night he did 9pm-0215-0550 (now!) but the night before did 9.30pm-0440-0620. Random.

tattyblue · 11/12/2014 06:55

splendide I'm really glad you got some sleep. And I absolutely know what you mean about hope. Once you know they can do it...

wondermoose13 · 11/12/2014 07:26

The hope is bloody awful! We had 2 days last week where he napped 3x during the day for a good 1hr30/2hrs and hes flat out refuses since! Falls asleep on the boob but wakes easily even if i make no attempt to move

tattyblue · 11/12/2014 08:13

Aw. I find it helps with the times when I've genuinely believed she would never in her life sleep for more than an hour.

Does anyone else struggle with going back to sleep after feeds? I've never been an ace sleeper, and the disrupted nights often mean I'm awake for whole chunks. The baby feed from 5.15 to 5.30 and I've been awake pretty much since then, listening to her grunt and fart.

splendide · 11/12/2014 08:20

Yeah I more or less cant sleep after about 4am. It's shitty. I get so anxious as well, just willing myself to bloody sleep while I have a slight chance! It's just that everytime he makes a noise I think he's waking up and honestly my gut lurches.

I remember that feeling (the gut lurching) splendide, it's horrible.
