Welcome everyone. You're doing a good job by the way. Remember that.

She just phoned with a big fat NO ! Just to wait for hospital appointment But told me to come back if there was any "change" or i was "worried" i basically started crying and said that is what i have been doing and that i wont be back as there is nothing they can do for her obviously AngryAngryAngry

Kirstipops · 10/12/2014 12:04

Ffs Stigz that's awful, maybe best just taking her to Yorkhill A&E cos who who knows how long the referral will take?

Me23 Somerset for new year sounds great! We're heading down with family and some friends to the Lake District for a week on the 27th. I'm thinking I should start packing now given how long it takes me just to get stuff together to go away for 1 night Xmas Grin

ohthegoats · 10/12/2014 12:08

Massive hand chewing when not hungry - also loads and loads of dribble. Any ideas? It's almost as if she's teething.

Kirstipops · 10/12/2014 12:15

Goats H is exactly the same, I ended up pursuing the dummy with her as her saliva was irritating her skin and i was scared she'd end up getting into the habit of thumb sucking. Hopefully she's not teething, though my sister had her first teeth at 3 months so I'm not ruling it out completely, eek.

ohthegoats · 10/12/2014 12:28

She's done it since she was born to some degree, so I figured it was about comfort, but it's now so dribbly. I'm trying not to use a dummy, and was slightly pleased that she didn't take to one- I actually wouldn't mind if she just sucked a thumb rather than trying to get a whole fist in her mouth!

Kirstipops · 10/12/2014 12:47

Yeah I'm the same, she mainly sucks her hand when she's sleepy so that's when I give her the dummy and put her scratch mitts on to try to soak up the drool at other times!

fatpony · 10/12/2014 13:07

We're driving from london to Perthshire for Xmas and then to Gloucs for new year. Can't wait!

tattyblue · 10/12/2014 13:33

So normally this baby sleeps pretty happily in most places but today she won't be put down- wakes up grumpy and crying if I try. This was the same last night, so we really struggled for sleep. I'm thinking this might be because she's snotty and is uncomfortable if she isn't upright. It's so unlike her- but I'm horrified at the thought that this might be her new thing. She's obviously knackered because as soon as I put her over my shoulder she goes to sleep in seconds. Does the snot hypothesis sound reasonable? I mean, she's not that snotty, but maybe enough.

FATEdestiny · 10/12/2014 13:37

Pony if your baby is happy in a swaddle, then keep it going a long as possible. I just stopped because DD started fighting it and no longer liked being swaddled at 6 weeks ish, when the startle reflex reduced. She jiggles around a lot at night so think she likes being 'free'.

BettyJudy · 10/12/2014 13:44

stigz what an absolute frickin nightmare! What are they thinking off. Muppets. Will you go to A and E? All you want to do is take away the pain from someone so little, why are they being so difficult??

tatty sounds like she is just feeling out of sorts and wants extra comfort and cuddles temporarily. Am sure wont be the new thing. Every small thing for our little ones must feel massive as they are brand new to everything, even small amount of snots. Hopefully will pass soon x

BettyJudy · 10/12/2014 13:46

Re: xmas plans - very lucky that in laws live on the same street as us, and MIL hosts and is the most amazing cook. Xmas is her 'thing', so we get strict instructions not to bring so much as a bottle of wine, and we just stroll all of 20 yards down the road to experience a dickensian feast! She's a star really

YellowWellies · 10/12/2014 13:53

Stigz the weather is due to calm by Thursday I'd go to OOH on Thursday night? I'm so sorry you are going through this again xx

Hand chewing could be comfort, curiosity at discovering their hands, oral thrush or teeth moving in the gums - they can teethe for agggggggges before a tooth erupts, conversely some are born with a blimmin tooth! Shock

YellowWellies · 10/12/2014 13:55

Betty that sounds perfect! We're going nowhere this year - hurrah! My twin sis and the kids are staying (even though they only live 12 miles away) and it'll be a communal effort. Who am I kidding? I'll be lucky to prise the baby out of her arms all Christmas!!!!

mrsb87 · 10/12/2014 14:46

We're at my mum's in Stroud for me a few days then in laws back in Telford for boxing day. Looking forward to going home for a few days! Where in Gloucestershire are you going fatpony?

STIGZ · 10/12/2014 15:38

Thanks girls for sympathy my plan is to use the gaviscon for a week so that i can say "i tried" it, then i will go to out of hours as a referral could take months.

mrsb87 · 10/12/2014 16:07

If it isn't working stigz don't wait that long. Put it your foot down and get what's right for your baby!

MundayCakes85 · 10/12/2014 16:08

STIIGZ sorry you're still not getting the treatment your poor baby needs. I agree with the others, head to OOH tonight or Thurs.
E can't be trusted with her hands- they've got a mind of their own hitting her in the face! So when she gets to suck them the whole fist gets shoved in!!

Sorehead · 10/12/2014 16:17

STIGZ- I wouldn't bother waiting a week for the Gaviscon. I was told that if it was going to work, it would do so pretty much immediately.

Interestingly, took DS to get weighed and get some advice about daytime sleeping at the HV drop in centre and when I mentioned my concerns re: reflux and explained that GP had given us Gaviscon she rolled her eyes and said it was ridiculous how reluctant doctors are to prescribe 'proper' meds for reflux.

Grannyapple · 10/12/2014 17:22

stigz...totally unacceptable...go to A&E...you've been through it before so they shouldn't be fobbing you off (shouldn't be doing it full stop but you're experienced in this before so they should be listening full stop!). Otherwise it'll be a 3/4 week wait for eternal/outpatient appt which isn't fair on you or baby!

Well Adam slept for 2 hours this morning in the moses basket...1st time ever in his 6.5 wks!! I had to put him on his side with a rolled up towel/blanket either side of him...going to attempt it again after dinner tonight to see if we can get a few hours to ourselves tonight before bedtime!

Grannyapple · 10/12/2014 17:23

Eternal =referral !!

wondermoose13 · 10/12/2014 17:39

stigz go to ooh, tonight or tomorrow night.
We rang gp this morn as ds had blood in his poo again and he looked like it really hurt him despite it being very watery, next one was huge blobs of mucous :( no apts with gp that we usually see so booked in with grumpy old man gp for friday, ( they ran out of emergency apts!!) But if they dont do owt ill be off to ooh on fri night/sat am

YellowWellies · 10/12/2014 17:50

Sorehead that's really interesting what your HV said. I find with reflux and CMPI many people are really eye rolly and dismissive "all babies cry" "just colic, they'll outgrow it" until they experience it in a child they care for. I'm lucky that one of our GPs is a Mum whon has an 18 month old who had dreadful reflux, so if any of the old bloke GPs are being crap I just go to her. It shouldn't be so personality driven though. Thinking about reflux and CMPI has come a long way in the last decade, its a shame there isn't better CPD for older docs.

STIGZ · 10/12/2014 18:29

Omg i cant beleive what has just happned !

Basically went to use the gaviscon and read the instructions "do not use with any other milk thickners" she is on aptimal anti reflux formula which is a thicker milk
So i rang the practise and asked the doc to call me back before it closed

Doc rang and spoke to dp who was basically saying "where do we go from here, we cant use gaviscon" ? So after a long conversation ........

My dd has now been prescribed omprezole Shock GrinHmmConfused .... Why oh why could they not have done that in the first place? Would have saved me alot of tears today... I have been an emotional wreck !!

RudyTuesday · 10/12/2014 18:39

Yay stigz - but what a ludicrous time you've had. Hope it does the trick.

MundayCakes85 · 10/12/2014 18:55

Thank god for that STIGZ hope you start to see improvement soon Smile
I gave E a bump on the head with shower door as she was getting in the bath. Feel awful as she went bright red and screamed. Sad
