Moose my eldest was like that at this age in sleeping bags, once he lost his startle reflex (during the bastard four month sleep regression) suddenly sleeping bags were his favourite thing ever. He's about to go into a big boy bed with a pillow and duvet this weekend - argh am worrying how to keep him warm without his sleeping bag as I'm sure he'll fidget out of a duvet. Confused

Dairy and soy free folk - I've just discovered Tescos bourbon biscuit spread. Basically dairy and soy free nutella!!!!! Wonder if I'm actually going to end up fatter after dairy free BF this time Blush?!

Kirstipops · 09/12/2014 22:52

Get the Feliway plug-in from Amazon Munday, it lasts a month and releases happy cat hormones or something of that ilk. My vet nurse friend recommended it and I haven't even had to buy a refill for it, it's worked a treat to calm my edgy cat down.
Betty that's shocking about your HV!

FATEdestiny · 09/12/2014 23:10

Yellow we had a massive battle with DC3 because he loved his "bag of sleep" (as my husband calls it) so much. He must have been nearly 4 before he went to a duvet instead. I still often find him across-ways on his bed, or the wrong way around. He has to sleep in a fluffy onesie so that he stays warm.

moose DD is 10 weeks so is past swaddling now. For the first 6 weeks or so we did sleeping bag with swaddle over the top. Mine have all been in sleeping bags from birth. That is probably against 'The Rules' or something, but worked for us.

BettyJudy · 10/12/2014 01:37

Thanks all V much for sympathies. Was so upset, just blurted all to Dh when home and took a sleepy sausage DD to bed early where she went to sleep at a much earlier time, and so did I. Fully clothed.

Now up and trying to get her to take something.

magic yep good point - she is 9 weeks, and i'm currently mixing teets 2 and 3 but will stick more fully with 3.

captain do you know what - i'm pretty darn sure I have actual been given literature on how to co-sleep safely by a health visitor in this area, as they recognise loads of people do it! Grrrrr

wondermoose13 · 10/12/2014 04:20

Ooh will have to try and find bourbon biscuit spread! Im so fed up of df and its only been 3 weeks!
ds has just slept from 1030 til 4 and weve had to wake him for his meds and a feed! This is very odd to the point im worrying is he ill or has his feeding been that bad recently that hes got no energy :s
Oh and just to overshare comoletely i feel like im getting a uti, best get some cranberry juice when i get the choc spread!

tattyblue · 10/12/2014 06:08

So we had an uncharacteristic nightmare getting the baby to sleep tonight. She was fussy and wanting to feed constantly and cried when not sucking, and kept waking herself up. Now she's awake again and has a very stuffy nose. What's the likelihood the fussiness was the beginning of a cold? Might that explain it?

YellowWellies · 10/12/2014 06:14

Tatty could well be, it'll take her longer to nurse and that tends to make them crabbit!

YellowWellies · 10/12/2014 06:15

Moose Betty Crocker devils food cake mix and choc fudge frosting is also dairy and soy free. You're welcome! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Me23 · 10/12/2014 06:21

stigz sorry to hear you are still having issues with your gp. I'm angry on your behalf I agree with yellow re OOH. Also hope you are feelig better now norovirus is so horrible.

Things have improved here, v is a lot more content she still has her moments when reflux is hurting her but I think the ranitidine has definitely worked.

My Ds has his nursery nativity later looking forward to seeing him though whether he actually sings is another matter.

STIGZ · 10/12/2014 07:08

I never made it to ooh last night as they called back after midnight by that time the weather was horrendous and didnt want to risk a 30 minute drive with an 8 week old. The nurse on the phone advised me to go back to the gp today and complain to the practise manager, she was totally on my side and said that on a personal level she has also known gp's to prescribe medication for reflux medication.
I am honestly so drained from constant sleepless days & nights and practically been unwell since having c/section, i cant beleive im having to go through this again, im starting to feel really down about it all as my energy is non existant and i have another child to consider this time

MundayCakes85 · 10/12/2014 07:22

STIGZ sorry to hear you're having so much trouble getting medication. How can a doctor allow a precious baby to be in pain? I think it's a good idea to complain to the manager- are there any other practices you could move to? It's so unfair, tell them how it's making you feel.
In other news DH woke E up at 7 when he got up for work. That was 7 1/2 hours solid, I feel new, with rock hard boobs Grin Confused

Kirstipops · 10/12/2014 07:31

Lying in bed with rock hard boobs listening to the wind and thunder and rain outside, so glad of maternity leave today!
Really glad the meds are working for you Me23, you had it really tough for a while! Is V sleeping better now too? wondered if you were still having your early night with DH doing the last feed.
H's nose was a bit dried-up-snotty the other day and I worried it was the beginning of a cold, but it doesn't seem to have come to anything, weird. Can babies get a blocked nose for no particular reason?
Stigz did you phone OOH ? My nurse friend said that infuriatingly it just seems to differ between GP to GP re: prescribing reflux meds and depending on what paediatrics experience they have, it's been known for docs to refer babies to paeds to do a test for reflux at the hospital but if GP has confirmed himself that reflux is what it is then she doesn't know of a set rule that only paeds can prescribe the omeprazole etc!

Kirstipops · 10/12/2014 07:32

Sorry Stigz cross-posted. It's wicked out there still, I hope you manage to see a proper doc today.

BettyJudy · 10/12/2014 08:51

Defo complain stigz - good luck, will be keeping my fingers crossed for you

Happytimes31 · 10/12/2014 09:09

Utterly rock hard boobs here too. Expressing seemingly huge amounts of foremilk, should I dump?

Happytimes31 · 10/12/2014 09:10

Or maybe let it stand and actually see really how much foremilk thefe is?

STIGZ · 10/12/2014 09:13

Thanks kirstie that was really kind! ... That is the frustrating part, that there seems to be diffrent procedures in diffrent areas? Im very unlucky that mines seems to be the worst Sad

I have another appointment at 10.30 with a female doctor, her first vaccine is today at 10.00 am with hv so i will mention my trouble to her and see what she says.

I am just trying to get this dealt with before the reflux has time to damage her throat and cause extreme pain and to the point of no return! My mental health will suffer so badly if this happens, i cant seem to get them to understand this, i am so angry and emotional which i know isnt good 9 weeks after birth, i just feel like i am letting her down if i dont get this sorted, i already carry the guilt from my first dd's reflux problems as i now know alot more about it

wondermoose13 · 10/12/2014 09:33

yellow you rock :D

STIGZ im so sorry your having such a crappy time with your gp, we were finally given ranitidine by the hospital as we got sent there from ooh when ds had diarrhoea and was screaming constantly- i think they only sent us to cover themselves but who cares it got hik seen by a paeds reg and a consultant checked in too...
However they have said they'll reviee in 6-8 weeks and as we havent seen masses of improvement i really dont want to wait that long but on the gp can get us an earlier appointment and they keep saying "just wait and see what the hospital say" just keep badgering, sometimes ooh can be more use, really hope you get somewhere soon!

Quick question for everyone- how long is it ok for an 8 week old to sleep? We woke him after 5 hrs last night as we were worried about leaving him a long time without a feed but should we have just left him to wake up naturally?

fatpony · 10/12/2014 09:59

fate can I ask how you knew your little one was ready for not being swaddled? Is there an age/standard cut off? Mine is 9 weeks on Friday and still in his miracle blanket. He'd thrash around lots otherwise and he has very wandering hands. I feel I ought to try him in a bag but he's sleeping well right now (7hrs last night) and don't want to jinx it. I'm wondering whether to get one of these ergo cocoons things that are a mix between a bag and swaddle.

stigz hope it gets sorted soon! what a trying experience. There really should be a standard format when prescribing meds for reflux...

Kirstipops · 10/12/2014 10:02

Yes Happy defo let it stand, it's not until it's stood for a few hours in the fridge and its all separated that I know what I've got as well.

You are fighting her corner Stigz, you're not letting her down, it's your doc who is! And as for still feeling guilty about your first dd's reflux problems please don't, we'd all be paediatricians if we could diagnose all the illnesses our babies get and I'm sure you busted your ass trying to get help then as you are now. We mums are awfully hard on ourselves I think FlowersXmas Smile

Littlefeet26 · 10/12/2014 10:02

Sorry to those having probs with GPs, I can't believe that some of you are having to fight for proper treatment/meds Sad We are off to the dtrs today because DS has been getting mucous in his poo since Saturday and it's not showing any signs of going away! HV was less than helpful and didn't say why it might be, just to go to the dtrs if it didn't improve. His poo is still a normal colour and he seems fine in himself but doctor google has scared me! I never thought I would be this obsessed with poo. Grim. Hope everyone is staying warm in this awful weather!!

RudyTuesday · 10/12/2014 10:44

Good luck stigz - you just know that if it was the gp's baby in pain they'd not hesitate to prescribe themselves the ranitidine

Me23 · 10/12/2014 11:02

kristi yes early weeks were so tough now to see the difference in v and myself is immense. She still vomits a lot but is gaining weight avd far more content. Sleep wise she is so much better, I still go to bed around 8:30-9 I feed v first then OH comes to bed with v at 11-11:30 she'll have another feed then sleeps till around 5-6. We haven't given her formula for a while now as she doesn't usually want a feed when OH has her in evening and when they come to bed it's so much easier to whack out a boob! So I'm getting good sleep I really hope it continues I know from experience it can all go tits up!

stigz I really hope you can get things sorted soon please don't feel bad you are doing your best the gp is at fault here. Would it be possible to change gp practice?

littlefeet good luck at gp.

Just wondering what peoples plans are for Xmas? Think I remember ages ago some people saying they were going away kristi ? We are going to Somerset approx 3 hr drive, however OH working Xmas eve and traffic will be awful Xmas eve night plus I'm nervous about travelling at night with baby last year the fog was so bad on you couldn't see anything! So we are going to drive down on Xmas morning, figured it will be quick as roads will be clear.

ohthegoats · 10/12/2014 11:14

We're going to Manchester, then back down to Wiltshire on boxing day. Then coming home for a few days before moving to my parent's place while the major work happens at our house. Expect we'll be there for 6 weeks. In that time we're also going skiing for a week - driving to the alps! Erk.

I have a subdued child today - bit snotty, so probably a cold. Due her jabs tomorrow, so hope she bucks up.

STIGZ · 10/12/2014 11:39

What a f**cking waste of time, she has to run it by the doctor who told me no in the first place as he is one of the practise managersAngry

I have tool gaviscon in the mean time as they have gave me lactoluse, she is phoning me back with the doctors "answer" which will obviously be no !

She will then be told i need an urgent referral to yorkhill, think i will phone my primary care trust for advice. I have already changed practises due to the reflux issues i had with my first dd, seems they are all pretty useless & a let down Angry
